She enjoys writing a wide variety of genres that pull her readers into worlds that take them away.
Something About Aimee is the first book from the Girls from the Street series by S.E. Smith. I have read a few of Ms. Smith’s books now, but this is definitely my favourite of the bunch, so far. As soon as I saw the cover and read the blurb, I knew I would like it- but I never expected to love it as much as I did. It was such a treat to read, incorporating much of what I love to find in my stories. This is a stellar romantic suspense, with plenty of action, danger, agendas, dramatic developments, originality, creativeness, tension, chemistry, intrigue, suspense, mystery, and so much more. The author definitely got the recipe right with this book. I loved every minute between her cover. Aimee (Wheels) and Qadir are such wonderful characters, I loved them from the outset. They have been meticulously crafted into well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. Aimee brings such a fresh and somewhat quirky vibe to the whole story- very cleverly done by this talented author. Both her MC’s are ‘different’, in a great way- which added more depth and an extra element of interest to the whole story. I don’t think it would have been the same without these two particular characters. I also loved the little bit of mysteriousness that the author had instilled in them both- especially Wheels with her backstory/upbringing etc. I really wanted to know more about that- I felt that her origins might be something unexpected and really interesting. I have my own suspicions on this, so I am hoping that we may find out more about her in future instalments. I was immediately captured by these wonderful characters and their exciting tale- finding myself completely invested in them and the outcome of their story. I couldn’t read quick enough; I was that eager to find out what happens. I only meant to read a few chapters before bed to see what the story was like- and before I knew it several hours had passed and I had devoured the entire book in one sitting. This is definitely one of my favourite, and most memorable reads this year. Happy Reading!
I loved this. I would love to see a movie/3 part limited series of this story.
I loved Chapter 1. It was so well written for an introductory chapter. It pulls you in. Then, I stayed for Aimee. I loved the fact that from the start till the end, she doesn't change who she is just because she was getting good dick or the fact that she has a habibi who is willing to basically buy her the world. Which, to some extent, was frustrating, because she could have been set up without worries, but it wasn't who she fundamentally was.
The book looses a star because of what I felt was a contradiction in the writing, when it came to how Qadir described Aimee/his point of view dialogue. It sounded like I've stepped from a modern story into a horse and carriage historical romance.
Oh, also the fact that in the end the baddies still haven't been apprehended but I know this is a set up for Tahir's book.
Then
In short, loved the chemistry between Aimee/Wheels+Qadir, stayed for the adventure and lastly, loved that she was the one who saved him.
'Quiero envolverme en él y atarte a mí, 'amirati alkhayalia'.

Something About Aimee de S.E. Smith serie Girls from the street libro 1
Argumento:
Something About Aimee me atrapó, yo no podía parar de leer.
Me encantó!
My heart is so happy that I picked up this book to read and could not put it down!! The story totally consumed me from beginning to end. This story had it all.... action, deceit, love and a few steamy scenes!
Aimee Wheels is such a free spirit and hustling day to day as a courier in NYC. When a small bet is wagered if she can get a delivery on time..Aimee is up to the task...but little did she know that the delivery also changes her life. Sheik Qadir Saif Ad Din radiates power and is royalty tries to get some attention by Aimee, at first she dismisses him. When an assassination attempt against Qadir starts in full motion, Aimee saves his life. After that fateful attempt....Qadir and Aimee's chemistry hits off the charts..but they both come from different worlds....will their differences keep them apart when chaos ensues?
There is so much more to this book but I dont want to give any spoilers away...I could talk about this story forever. The characters of Qadir and Aimee are fantastic, and even though they have different upbringings, they both share so much love not only for each other but to their families and friends as well. I did not want this story to end and I look forward to reading book #2!
The story tested the true bounds of love and the meaning that opposite the track. I enjoyed their story very much, and i appreciated the differences that they had, but the way they were able to embrace each other. Aimee was such a free spirit and Independent woman. She may not have had much but her life was simple and she enjoyed it. Qadir was much more complex, and quite the alpha male. Watching their love story play out danced upon a variety of emotions. The way he watched over her and protected her displayed his devotion. I enjoyed the story very much and I’m happy that I discovered this hidden gem.
This story! It was sexy, suspenseful, intense, and fast-paced. Aimee is such a strong female, wiling yo do whatever she must to protect the man she loves, and Qadir was sweet and protective, sexy and surprising. There was a point where I just cried and cried, but other points where I laughed out loud. Evoking strong emotions, to me, is a sign of an excellent writer, and I can never go wrong with this authors work.
I was fortunate enough to read it on Patreon as she was writing it, and I jumped right back in to start it over as soon as it released. Excellent story.
This was a really good read! It was well written, and fast paced so it made go pretty quickly while reading. The characters were lovable and had great chemistry together. It starts off with a bang, so it was definitely exciting and I may even go so far as to say adventurous while being emotional. My only complaint is that while it moved quick, it was hard to determine points in time so I stayed a little confused in parts on the timeline because there was several skipped days. But other than that it was a great read. I can't wait to read more in the future!
Good story overall. I always like the female character’s strength and loyalty that S.E. Smith portrays in all her female characters. The only thing missing for me in this book was heat. Could have done with more passion between the main characters.

Will she let others’ agenda tear them apart …
Wow, this book was I suppose like for most of the author’s readers a surprise as much as an unexpected new read but also in appearance as a very different story but while there is no spaceship nor shifters, this wears as much the author’s style than any of her other books, it is the author at her best.
I was happy to enjoy the ride with Aimee, Qadir in this non stop action full of sensuality and adventure story. Qadir has nothing to envy to Smith usual alien heroes, he is protective and a bit overwhelming but he does not quell Aimee’s wild streak, he accepts her as she is, he just wants to offer her what she never had without dimming her inside fire, a home and his love. Aimee for as long as she has lived has learned to count only on herself. She is happy as she is, free and enjoying her simple life. When she thwarts a murder’s attempt, she passes beneath the radar of people from a different world, still it does not stop Qadir to want her. They are from two opposite worlds, he, living a life of wealth and duty when her most previous possession is her skateboard and her only duty is her need to help those she cares for.
Mrs Smith gifts us a wonderful story of two people who probably would never have meet but are instantly drawn to the other and give free rein to the pull until others come between them. Do not miss this pure gem, it is a hundred pourcent the author at her best.
Wow, honestly I am reeling from reading this book. Managed to read it in a day, literally could not put it down for too long. Aimee aka Wheels, found abandoned as a new born on Dai de los Muertos, taken on and raised by her finder Yolanda, Wheels an honestly open and free spirited look on life; and it is no surprise that she lives life to the full. Living in an empty building looking after a family of cats, she has such a wide and diverse group of friends. From gang leaders and their grandparents, to shop keepers and Jazz singers the group of people that surround her is as colourful as it is diverse. Not held back by the constraints of a normal life she works as a parcel courier using her skateboard to get around. Aimee is a true heroine, showing us how strong a female can be. Sheikh Qadir, crown prince and business man cannot be further from the life Aimee lives. He is transfixed by the small in stature but larger than life girl that attempts to and does save his life when he is targeted by terrorists. The one his Chosen, his feisty saviour. Their relationship is destined to be left incomplete when Aimee is taken into witness protection as her life is threatened after she sees a dirty cop kill his partner whilst trying to get hold of photos of mercenaries and their crimes in Qadirs home country. After years later due to witness protection, when Qadir finds Aimee is still alive, I found myself cheering for the couple as they try to find their way back together. The story is fast paced and hooks you straightaway, the characters are constantly growing and evolving, showing human strength and emotion. The world that is built by the author is bright and intriguing. Definitely a book worth reading, I hope the rest of the series is as engaging.
OMG!!! If you haven’t read this book, my question is why. This book has everything, action, humor, drama, twists, romance, steam, turns and did I mention drama?? What a series opener!!!!
From the first chapter to the last, this book had me hooked. I almost threw my phone a couple of times when I couldn’t believe what was happening but I was calmed back down by a twist or something.
Aimee’s entire life has been on the street. She knows the ins, the outs, the highways, the byways, the no gos, and everything in between. She had to learn them to survive. Aimee has a small collection of the most interesting friends. She never knows when she will need one for something. One night when she is making a final delivery for the courier service she works for, she saves the life of a very important man, except she has no idea who he is.
He is Sheik Qadir Saif-Ad-Din, the heir to the throne of Jawahir. Qadir is instantly memorized by this tiny creature that shows more street smarts than his highly trained guards. Qadir knows that Aimee isn’t one that can be caged or is interested in the trappings of his title. Aimee is wild and free, like the desert wind. As the danger mounts around Qadir, Aimee must make some life shattering choices. But when Qadir is captured and being held hostage, will Aimee risk everything to help him?
This book was fantastic. I can’t wait for the next in the series. Idella is more than she appears to be?? Yep, I am hooked. I didn’t need another series but I am not letting this one go!!
I loved this book, so much so that if it was possible to give more than five stars I would in a heartbeat. The characters are fascinating, the plot woven flawlessly, it was like a hug that you never want to end. I was upset that it had to end though and will probably reread this one several times over.
Aimee is a strong female character with a tragic backstory that makes you love her even more. Life is going great for her just the way she likes it on the down low but fate has other plans. Those plans involve a super sexy billionaire whose life Aimee just so happens to save. Now with her crowding his mind his only thoughts are claiming her as his and giving her the life she deserves. However, Aimee is not so easily swayed by the promise of money, wealth, and security. Can Qadir convince Aimee to give their relationship a shot or are they doomed from the start? What happens when Aimee is in the crosshairs of a rival who is determined to make Qadir suffer? With the cards stacked against these two will they ever get their happily ever after?
This is a fast paced, adrenaline inducing, emotional rollercoaster of a book. It had me laughing one minute and crying the next. This is one author I will return to time and time again, the writing was beautifully done and keeps you engaged through the entirety of the book. I cannot wait to see if more come out in this series as I will be one of the first in line to read them. Definitely give this book a chance it may become your new favorite book like it has for me!
This was a pretty quick read with a few story twists of interest.
Spice level: 🥵 (1 out of 5) Deflowering scene ridiculous. Not much spice after that, but often implied.
FMC: Just OK. Big ol' Mary Sue, perfect at everything including international counterterrorist maneuvers, gorgeous and unaware, saves orphans, blah blah blah. Loss of virginity scene beyond unreal and not in a good way. During seduction scene behaved like a 30s femme fatale despite never knowing a man's touch. A bit syrupy for me.
MMC: standard billionaire template with some "middle eastern" stereotypes thrown in. Wants to own the FMC at first, but evolves enough to know she won't tolerate that. Instead he wants her to be his queen. A little vomity there.
Plot: kind of interesting as the characters are moved from different continents. Lots of international agencies involved.
Secondary characters: pretty good, but clearly some are destined for their own books.
Villian(s): a bit of mustache twirling here. Kind of "evil is as evil does," not really any back story. Main villain doesn't appear to die, which is always a hot button for me. In this case it's so he can be the main subplot that connects books in a series. Indestructible villains are lazy and boring.
Overall, the tone of the story feels hollow. There's tons of telling the story, not showing. It makes the story feel like something you are not experiencing, but instead are just being told about.
Just wow! This book was such an amazing read, and really was impossible to be put down! This author created characters that were more than connectable, and yet the plot swept you into the world it resided in, and held you there with tense anticipation until you reached the very end of the book!
The book itself had its moments you were on edge due to the suspense, and times were you were held down with the sexual desire the book was able to give. What I loved most aside from the gripping plot, was the character Aimee. Such a great character, she grew as a character, but didn't change who she was within her heart. I enjoyed Qadir as well. He was quite different than Aimee, but had that longing desire down path for sure. I loved the epicenes of danger and the adventure this book took me on. This book really had the wow factor, I knew it would be a good read, but I was truly blown away with the effect this book gave off! This was a book that was impossible to be put down! Seriously, loved this book!
Amazing read from start to finish! I was hooked and completely invested as I read through this book. The author was just as amazing. They created a story with sensational writing that kept you hooked as well as intrigued! This author and book are a must read for sure! Defiantly a high recommendation from myself!
A page turning romantic suspense, which had me gripped throughout. The main characters really are complete opposites, Aimee Wheels who was born on the streets and loves her free-living lifestyle, and ultra rich, Sheikh Qadir Saif-Ad-Din, who was born into royalty and power. Aimee is happy with her courier job in New York City, and although she hasn’t got a lot, she’s contented as long as she has her crazy friends and her skateboard. Qadir is used to having money and every that goes with it, and is used to wielding his power. However, his life changes when he is both saved by and then dismissed by a woman carrying a skateboard, and wearing tattered jeans. He instantly knows that he wants her. Aimee’s life also changes dramatically having saved Qadir from an assassination attempt, and then becomes part of his world when she become a target herself. As well as the fact they have both led very different lives, the couple also have to deal with a rival billionaire trying to kill them. Can their budding relationship survive their distrust and differences, and lead to love. This was a fast paced, entertaining read with an exciting storyline and great main characters, which had me hooked from start to finish. The plot twists kept me guessing and the action, suspense and romance kept me happily turning the pages.
Fabulous book….riveting story draws the audience in at every turn. My only disappointment, was that the backstory wasn’t as developed as I would have liked. Kinda just throws Aimee in there, leaving the reader with questions. Quick, easy read. Enjoyed the strong female lead and the way that she carried herself throughout the book! Out of author SE Smith’s normal wheel house of Sci-Fi, however she did phenomenal with this sizzling romance/mystery as well! Aimee Wheels is a homeless courier who works so hard at everything she does. Despite being homeless, Aimee is extremely educated and fluently speaks multiple languages. When Aimee helps to stop a plan to kill Quadir, an extremely wealthy & powerful sheik, Quadir is completely smitten with Aimee and vows to make her his wife, but Aimee isn’t having it. Fiercely independent & certainly not able to be bought, Aimee makes it clear that she is her own person. After some twists and turns, the find themselves falling for each other. Can their two very different worlds collide and allow them obtain the fairytale, happily ever after they both desperately want?
Excellent read. Relatable characters. Can not wait for book 2 in the series!
Well I’m ready to trade my family -mom- SUV in for a piece of wood with wheels 🙃
Aimee aka Wheels may not have a formal education but she is very clever , can speak I think it’s 7 languages , she has street smarts and she has a good heart and a kindness to animals ❤️🐾
She’s a courier and she doesn’t shy away from hard work and she’s well loved by those who know her … it’s on a delivery that her paths cross that of royalty and she not only gets the delivery done on time but she also saves the life of his royal hotness !
I think she’s a breath of fresh air for many but so much more for Quadir ❣️😉 she’s sees the man not for what he can do for her ……
When I started this I wasn’t sure what to expect but what I got was absolute brilliance ! There was steam , there was laughter , there was fear and suspense !
I tried to summarise it as Pretty woman meets GI Jane meets Cinderella .
All is not what it seems , r there’s so much more to these people than meets the eye .
Aimee will make a perfect queen . She’s compassionate, kind , fair , humble , beautiful and she lives her life by her strong moral compass !
I really enjoyed this story. It is a great mixture of romance and danger. The story is thrilling as we journey with Aimee and Qadir. I loved their characters. Aimee is such a strong independent woman. She's had a tough life which has lead her to where she is and the person she is today. So pleased that she remains a strong character that isn't afraid to speak her mind and be herself. Qadir is a powerful guy and has such he isn't used to people confronting him or going against his wishes, however when he meets Aimee he gets that and a whole lot more. Aimee will challenge him in ways he has never experienced before and he will allow her to do just that. They meet when Aimee saves his life. And once the meet Qadir is certain he won't let her go. But that's when things change. Aimee escapes and leaves but what she doesn't realise is that she now becomes a target. Can this couple work through their life differences and find common ground? Can they save each other from the constant threats to their lives? With the distrust and danger do they stand any chance of being together or will the difference in their lifestyle and worlds but too much for them to overcome.
Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next in the series. This is the story of Aimee aka Wheels who is a courier on a skateboard aka her nickname and works very hard. She has to fight for everything she has but she is very educated. She can speak several different languages but she's also street smart. Through several weird chain of events she meets Quadir who is a Shiek and falls for Aimee the first minute he sees her. He is determined to make her his wife but Aimee is not having it. Quadir is used to getting what he wants and if he can't get it he can usually buy it but Aimee is different. When she ends up accidentally saving his life he is forever indebted to her. When Aimee saves Quadir she doesn't expect to become a target herself but that is exactly what happens. Is Aimee smart enough to out run someone wanting to assassinate her? Will Quadir finally get Aimee to love him? Read this fast paced Romantic Suspense to find out!
This is NOT what I thought it was going to be at all!! Reading the bio and the label of “girls from the street” my mind was wandering. This was shocking and surprising and I LOVED every second of this fast-paced, action-packed, keep me on the edge of my seat story!
Aimee is incredible! She has such a great disposition just about all the time! Her job as a courier is definitely interesting and I was WOWed how she used a skateboard instead of a bike. She is mentally strong, is kind to people and not afraid to take chances.
My only small issue with this is a couple different times (early and middle of the book) the POV or a time frame was displaced and/or not needed. It took me out of the flow of the story. Those parts could have still been used but put in at the appropriate time frame. This did not seem to be a problem later in the book.
Overall this is so much more than what I thought it would be. I would highly recommend it to those who love a suspenseful action filled story.
Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1)
I love finding new to me authors and learning about their style to see if they are a one and done or if I will be reading more by them. This author is one I will be one I will be looking forward to reading again.
There was something quite endearing about Aimee and Qadir from the beginning and it only increased the further I got into the book.
Aimee is not your average girl in any shape, form or fashion and that was the beginning of her charm. Not having an easy life would have a lot of people mad at the world and bitter towards everyone and everything, not Aimee. She protects those she cares about with everything she has, but she manages take the wrong person mad.
Qadir is not the normal Sheikh. It's obvious he has money but he doesn't act like others I have read or the stereotypes and I liked that a lot.
I have been traveling for the last couple of days and this was able to get lost in the book instead of worrying about my husband's driving. I'm so looking forward to the next book in the series.
To be honest, I picked this novel up because I really love when the novels I read have a character with the same name as I do, even if it isn't spelled correctly! I absolutely loved the plot of this adventure, and the way that the female lead, Aimee, is a strong, independent woman, that way because she had no other choice. She knows what she wants and goes for it, and puts her all into everything that she does. I love that about a person, and I really was able to connect with her throughout this fantastic read.
One of my other favorite things is that there aren't any lulls. There seems to be something always going on, and not in a way that makes the reader feel overwhelmed or unsure as to what the real story is. The author has a wonderful way with words, the descriptive nature brings the reader in and doesn't let them go, even after the story ends. I very much look forward to reading more about the Girls from the Street, and by this author. Well done!
Oh My! How can this be the first time I have read a book by this author?!?! Could I have chosen a better book to start off with!? Oh, how fun this story was to read! Aimee is the coolest chick ever! She certainly doesn’t need anyone. Living the way she chooses, even if it isn’t the safest of neighborhoods. She has her friends and her skateboard, which I am surprised she hasn’t named.
When Aimee runs into Qadir things take a different turn.
“How many others were like Aimee; vibrant and capable, but just one unlucky moment away from complete disaster?” - Hits a little personal. So many people are just one unlucky moment, one car break down, one sickness, one unlucky moment away from complete disaster. Is there something Qadir can do to help, to encourage, to teach...
Aimee and Qadir have an instant attraction but neither one wants to believe it. I really love this story and can’t wait to see what else happens to these characters and their friends/family!
There's something about Aimee was a story that had me on the edge of my seat. There was so many unexpected twists and turns. It was a little more heated than I prefer, but overall it was a great story. I love Aimee and her character. She is a total kick butt girl, who can hold her own and is brilliant. I kept wishing we knew more about her past, and then my wishes were granted. The author did a great job of building the characters slowly. It had kind of a 50 shades feel to it, as I look back. Rich powerful male, inexperienced young girl (altho homeless was a nice twist) but it makes for a good story. Qadir was a character I didn't like at first but he grew on me. I love his brother Tarek and his dad, and hope they make it into further stories. To be honest, the names was hard to pronounce, which I always hate, but I guess they are middle eastern so it's to be expected... overall, it was a good book. The epilogue was a good wrap up and made me love Qadir.
Something About Aimee has a bit of everything in it and I love it. The many twists and turns in this book will have your emotions all over the place, I couldn’t put it down!
Aimee is a street-smart, no holds barred kind of girl living the free life in New York City. She is a street courier on a skateboard that seems to banish any kind of preconceived notions anyone has of her. Using her street smarts, she saves royal Sheikh Qadir from assassination. Qadir is drawn to her for many reasons and saving his life is just one. Every time Aimee has something to say, Qadir finds himself astounded.
I enjoy how strong-willed Aimee is and also that Qadir is not at all intimidated by her. This book threw me for a loop a few times! I thought I knew where it was going, and it would change direction. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend picking it up. I’m headed to get the second book in the series now!
I could not put this book down!!! The beginning started off strong and it ended even stronger. Kept me on the edge of my seat so to speak! It was sweet, action-packed, and sort of a fairytale. Aimee’s story surprised me every time I learned something new about her. Her character was idolizing though she was sweet and spunky but super smart! Qadir was a strong character as well envisioning him and Aimee together was toe-curling good! This book wasn’t at all what I expected even after reading the synopsis. I highly encourage the read! I already have the next one on my pre-order list!
A few of my favorite quotes:
she was a piece of sunshine that got trapped on Earth -Yolanda
This is what you do not pull a nerd into the field -Selima
Surely you could find someone to entertain you that doesn't have a death wish. -Tarek
Street-savvy Aimee, a woman content in the life of simplicity she has managed to survive with, finds herself in the precarious situation of saving someone on one of her courier jobs. Little does she know, Aimee has just saved Sheikh Qadir Saif-Ad-Din – a royal. Soon, the unlikely couple finds themselves falling for each other – but that doesn’t mean everything is about to fall into place… This was a wonderful read! I always love a good romance, but the action and overall flow of the story went beyond the typical sweetness of a solid romance and transformed the tale into an amazing story! Many romantic-suspense books fall short of the mark, with either too much romance or not enough, but this one had it all – as well as the added bonus of great world-building and intricate characters. If you’re looking for a burning romance with the added spice of adventure, this is the book for you!
I enjoyed reading this romance story that has a touch of suspense to it. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. One of the things I enjoy about this author is their writing skills. They are able to bring the story to life with ease and made me feel as if I was part of the story. This is a well written story about Aimee and Qadir. They are complete opposites but they do have one thing in common, someone is out to kill them. Will they find a way to love despite what life is throwing at them? I enjoyed watching their growth as well as their chemistry. They are great characters that added to the story for me. They certainly had me coming back for more. They are strong and supportive characters that made the story easy and entertaining to read. I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book.
Something About Aimee by S.E. Smith is book one in their Girls From the Streets series. Aimee and Qadir couldn’t be any more different. One grew up with what many would consider a rough childhood with a lot of street smarts. And one grew up in a palace, surrounded by luxury and security. When the pair unexpectedly meet, sparks immediately fly. I have to say, I had high hopes for the story but things seemed to happen almost too fast. The instant attraction was understandable but the quick love and almost overwhelming infatuation was a bit strange. Aimee seems to throw herself into danger and being wealthy and of status Qadir seems to bring it. The story could have used a little more heat and spice over danger. That said, overall the story was good. Just felt as though some things could have been a little better.
