Sonny and Xavier have found shelter from the international assassins after them in a hidden off-the-grid camp in British Columbia - but said assassins aren’t too far behind so they’ll only get a temporary respite… until the next one! And then they gots to run again! And… that’s the series, really. Fight, run, hide, repeat.

The second volume of A Repetitious Thirst for Vengeance is decent, much like the first. Andre Lima Araujo’s art remains the star of the show. It isn’t just the landscape shots that are so beautiful but the action is expertly-drawn, so you follow all the movements perfectly in a scene, and the angles/establishing shots are always cleverly laid out so you get all the information you need without having to read a word. And hats off to Chris O’Halloran too for superb colouring - the art on this series is flawless.

Rick Remender’s story is… fine. Like I said, it’s a bit repetitive. The first book saw Sonny get into some beef, somehow escape, then hide, and the second book sees him do just that again - twice! Not that the book is ever boring to read - the action scenes are brilliant, particularly between Sonny and the assassin, and are spaced evenly throughout so that there’s never too long a lull between them - it’s just one-note and starting to read rather formulaically; I’d’ve liked to have seen some more development of the larger story rather than just cat-and-mouse stuff.

You find out how Sonny got mixed up in all of this, so it’s good to have some answers to the questions raised in the previous volume, and Remender is careful to ensure Sonny’s skills are convincing, subtly mentioning how long he’s been training in B.C. He doesn’t use captions informing the reader of how much time has passed so the passing exposition is useful to have.

A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance, Volume 2 is a solidly-produced action comic but the lack of a substantive story is becoming very noticeable. If you enjoyed the first book, you’ll enjoy the second just as much.

Just as good if not better than volume 1. Fast paced, fucked up, and sad. I really loved the two main leads, their relationship, and their ultimate faith really worked well. Best Remender series in years, I'll for sure pick up a deluxe version.

After thoroughly enjoying the first volume, I couldn't wait to dive into the next one. Typically, I don't jump into sequels right away, but this time I made an exception.

Everything I loved about the first volume holds true here as well.

This fantastic mini-series has left me eager to explore more about these creators.

A must-read.

Man, there were some brutal moments in here. Book starts 6 months later. Sonny and the kid, Xavier, are held up at a hidden camp in the woods with a bunch of other folks. However, the people after them still somehow find them and shit gets real ugly. Damn is that wasn’t a super violent fight for your life. Seems like wherever they go, those people find them. This book give wild action, great art and some oh so good vengeance.

Paper thin plot filled with Plenty of Gratuitous violence for lovers of 90's action flicks A'la Steven Segal or a washed J-CVD.

The artist is quite good at telling a story, which is a God send since Remender sure as hell wasn't getting payed by a word count or anything. The dialogue is sparse. No narration or inner dialogue makes this one a very streamlined read.

Not as surprising as the first one once you get the gist of it, but really fun and great visual storytelling.

Picking up six months after the ending of the first volume, this concluding volume in the duology delivers more of the goods. Namely: violent, brutal murder on a disgusting scale, all skillfully drawn by André Lima Araújo.

The picture is bigger in this volume. Sonny (nameless MC from last time) and Xavier (boy who survived last time) are living in an off-the-grid camp apparently populated by folks who have been targeted by the nameless billionaire orchestrating all these killings. Everything seems hunky-dory until, naturally, it very suddenly and very terrifically is not.

Violence begats more violence, including an unexpected scene change and a few time jumps. The conclusion is satisfying, which feels odd to say after all the murderous build-up. This series is a late-stage Bruce Willis movie waiting to happen. (But I kinda really liked it)

Title definitely fits by the end. You know what you're in for: fight, run, peace, upheaval, repeat. The story itself is alright. Art once again is pretty great. Final issue almost pissed me off but I got the catharsis I wanted.

Expertly drawn art and color! This reads like a well paced action movie and I mean that in the best way possible. Remender is an all time favorite writer so I’m not so surprised I enjoyed this but honestly the art and action were the real heroes!

Why is it on my shoulders? 'Cause I just happened to be here?

Memories of Murder)?

Crtež je kul. Scena u prvom broju s golubom je tužna istina o svetu danas.

As good or better than Vol. 1. This collects issues # 6-11.

This picks up about 6 months after vol. 1. Sonny is at an off-the-grid camp site, practicing his shooting skills for the time he faces the Blue Jackel (BJ). Sonny befriends Xavier, a young teen who underwent trauma when his mother was taken away and is not speaking, and takes him under his wing. When BJ leaves a cell phone on a stump for Xavier to see that Sonny is wanted for murder, the boy runs away and is kidnapped by BJ. Detective Cherro finds Xavir with BJ. The two men fight and BJ comes out on top. When Sonny realizes Xavier is gone, he goes to find the boy.

Again, Remender lets the action speak the story, using a spare text. It is all non-stop action with a satisfying conclusion. Artwork by André Lima Araújo is as fantastic as the first, with colorist Chis O'Halloran leaving his mark with beautiful color. Backmatter includes a page of sample sketches of Sonny, BJ, and Officer Green, two pages of Issue #8 layout sketches by Araújo, and three pages of inks by Araújo.

Lots of violence and naked bodies in this one. Highly Recommended for adults.

What goes up must come down, with an incredible Volume 1, we come down to the finish line with a spectacular Volume 2. Once again this series delivers fantastic sequences of action with tense beautiful moments of character building with such beautifully executed minimalist storytelling. Little time is spent on words said and so much is told visually. This series does not think you’re stupid and I’m here for it.
I have this thing with stories where I have to go cover to cover then take a break. With months in between volumes of a series it makes it kind of difficult for multi-volume arcs to build up tension and suspense, but I called to ensure the library had Volume 2 the moment I closed the cover of Volume 1. I had no problem slipping right back in to this amazing comic. Read this book. Remender and Lima Araújo killed it once again.

I don't know where I thought this was going, but this was a surprise, especially because I found the first volume so meticulous with its presentation. Here, it's also as if everything hits fast forward. I don't think this story needed profound character development. It largely works so well because it doesn't do exposition. You know what you need to and you're along for the ride — and it whips! But with that there come a few inevitable instances where I might not feel as much sympathy or resentment as I'm perhaps supposed to when empathizing with characters. I may have just been thrown off by such a hyperspeed jump from precision to chaos. Still, this was a wild deal I most certainly ripped through.

Action-packed thriller comic series - the conclusion.

This series starts off with Sonny hiding out in a rural community and this leads to the deaths of those out to get him as well as others. It’s also about the young boy that he is taking care of. It’s reasonably clearly illustrated and the story moves along well. I’m glad that this series only has two volumes: some stories can be Farbton long. Well done the writer for keeping it concise. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Profoundly just and melancholic, brutal truths about doing what is right and what must be done, sometimes no matter the cost. This wraps up in this collection, so these two volumes (or the forthcoming hardcover) and you're done with this straightforward story about desperation and revenge.

A satisfying end, even if it isn’t a non-stop roller coaster like the first half was.
