Henrietta, a twenty-three year old has moved in with her old actress mother on the coast of California. The daughter is in hopes she will inherit her mother's fortune. To hurry that along she enlists a young man she has met at a party. She has him leave strange verses that hint at the dark arts. The guy is more interested in Henrietta going north with him where he has a new job waiting. The old actress calls on her helpful neighbor, Max, to help solve the puzzling events. As the pursuit heats up Max enlists the help of his girlfriend, her teen age daughter, his grandfather, the grandfather's friend, and even a coven of witches from next door.
Bill is a former social services worker for two State governments by day, now retired. By night a writer and participant in amateur theater. Has traveled a bit, and briefly taught English in Korea. Grew up in Baltimore, MD then moved to southeastern VT. Has written feature articles on personalities, rural development, and reviews in local and other periodicals., now novels. Read a review of my first novel "Buried Gold" in the Dec. 2016 on line "Toasted Cheese" Literary Journal, and my second "Megan of the Mists" in the September 2017 "Toasted Cheese". Also regularly covers the arts and interesting people in the local weekly "The Shopper/Vermont Journal" and the daily "Eagle Times". As well as short stories, "The kids Won't Leave" in the Fall 2020 "Two Hawks Quarterly" and "Pizza Pizza" in the April 28, 2021 "Raven's Perch" magazine.
