I love this series. Love the characters. Finally!!!(for those who have read it, you know what I mean) I wish she would start calling him by his name instead of Judge Beck. After Kay went to the Orchard, I knew "who dun it". Also glad that Detective Keeler is back. Hoping he stays on. I think he and Kay are going to become friends.(with a little aggravation thrown in) He will be at the Friday night drink fest before you know it.

I was very pleased to see the latest book from Libby Howard's Locust Point series with Kay and Judge Beck, his children Madison and Henry, Taco the cat and Cagney the puppy.

Kay is collecting donations for a charity event and the usual Friday night meet up for their friends turns into a sorting and pricing event, until Henry unearths a skull, which looks suspiciously real. Kay starts to notice apples which fall out of the fruit bowl for no reason at all, are they skull and the apples linked?

The chain of events presents a new case for Kay, will she be able to find out who the skull belonged to and who killed the person whose skull it is?

Apart from the case, will Kay and Judge Beck move their relationship along? It's been 2 months since they admitted their feelings towards each other.

I really enjoy reading this series, cozy mystery with a romantic element to it, I'm so looking forward to the next book in the series. Whilst each book is a standalone mystery, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

I do like these stories

I like these stories, but didn't realize Kay is fifteen years older than the Judge. That's a lot. When she is 75 he will only be 60. Oh well just a story. Ms Howard should do some research on how to feed cats. Dry food will make them fat and have a shorter life span. Cats are carnivores, and they need to eat raw meat, which is why they hunt. This story really made me feel sorry for the dad, after a stroke and then this he probably won't last much longer. But I will read the next one lol.

Five for a Dollar (Locust Point Mystery Book 13) — Howard Libby/Narrator: Margaret Strom (26 chapters) June 25, 2023

I have not read a book in this series long, so I was anxious to see how the next thread is woven.

Kay and the Judge are getting ready to host a charity yard sale, only to have one find a skull in the box, which looks too real to be fake.

At the same time, an apple rolls off the table, and suddenly Kay feels like she knows the skull is real and that a murderer is about.

This story is a fast read with wonderful characters and an excellent narrator.

Four stars.

This is one of my favorite ongoing mysteries with this story Kay is working on a Donations are pouring in for the charity yard sale, but as Kay and her friends sort through the glassware and gently used appliances, they discover a real skull in a box of old Halloween decorations.

Kay sees a ghost that might belong to the skull giving her hints of what happened and Kay and friends go searching for clues and there are a lot of surprises, romance and more.

The main characters are so good together, it definitely kept me guessing & was very hard to put down, I can't wait for the next book to come out,so glad Kay & Judge Beck's story isn't over. Totally recommend this series.

Another interesting mystery

Kay investigates a cold case of a missing woman after an unexpected finding appears amongst donated items for a fundraiser. Good mystery, fun moments with the puppy and a Halloween witch, and some romance for Kay and the Judge.

I love it that this author cares about the victims that are left behind. I really like how the story was written and the backstory and the research that went into the subject matter. I hope there are more books in this series!

I love this series! This story is beyond amazing! While I guessed the killer with maybe 25% to go, it was a fun ride getting there. There were also twists I didn't see coming, so that was cool. Another book in search of a proofreader though, thus bringing this down from a 5*.

Great book! Easy read!

Love the relationship with the judge, and the ease of friendships in her books. A little paranormal adds interest as well.

Cold cases aren’t my favorite, so that aspect detracted a bit from my engagement. Still love this excellent series of audiobooks! Appreciate that the same narrator has remained throughout the series as I’ve come to know the characters and recognize their voices.

Really enjoy this series, but this story is sad! The killer they are seeking in a cold case file, turns out to have murdered before.
