Upgrade as Futuristic Empaths: 5 Steps to Build the Profile of Intuitive Feelers for Successful Careers and to Develop Empathy as Strength. An Empath's ... Purpose.
Are you an empath? Do you know what an empathy trap is? How can you transform empathy into a strength and build successful careers?
Empaths have intuitive feelings (owing to the cognitive functional pair "NF" in their personality type) as their psychological preference. Personality types ENFP, ENFJ, INFJ, and INFPs are natural empaths as per the MBTI Personality types according to www.16personalities.com and www.Truity.com. Empaths are also called Idealists & Diplomats.Highly Sensitive People belong to these MBTI types.
To face the realities of the world and to be successful in endeavours which have larger impacts, empaths need to embrace practicality and rise above their personality stereotype or one-sidedness. Dr.Dario Nardi, Author of the book Neuroscience of Personality, suggests transcendence or the individuation process, a term coined by Carl Jung, the essence of which is to have an integrated personality growth. Empaths have a larger role to play in this world and most of them are underplaying their natural strength. By adopting the 5 key steps discussed in this book, anyone, especially empaths can easily find their career paths to success, thereby leaving a positive impact on this world.

According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators, people classified as ‘-NF-’ are considered natural empaths. Statistically rare, these people have the personality to understand the problems others face and try to give constructive solutions. Hence they can be natural mediators and advisors. But often, their empathy is taken for granted, and such people are at the receiving end of ungrateful leeches. How can they put their empathy to best use for their own development and the positive development of people around them?
‘Upgrade as Futuristic Empaths’ by Devi Sunny explores all those aspects and more. It also talks about how people with other personality types can develop an empathetic side that goes beyond mere sympathy or lip service. This book focuses on the career aspect- how empathy is needed in the modern competitive world and how people with good empathy should navigate their careers. The text reads like an extended Times Ascent article. The information is undoubtedly valuable but limited. This book is a part of a larger series where other aspects of the personality have been explored in other parts. The book assumes that the reader knows about the MBTI framework and cognitive functions. Else it will be difficult for readers to grasp the contents.
The book is certainly interesting but not exactly unique. Many other books and articles discuss the same issues. Of course, the author’s perspective will be different from others. These books are challenging to sell organically- they sell through advertising campaigns or are bought by people in the author’s direct or indirect network (the reviewer is one among them!). These books may not be worldwide bestsellers, but they give the author credibility in the field of training, coaching, or consultancy. Someone who has written a series of such books knows their stuff.
