Daring Daughters #12

Sinfully Daring

Rate this book
The Perfect Young Lady…
Lady Rosamund Adolphus, daughter of the Duke of Bedwin, will not have the slightest trouble in finding a husband. So says the ton. She has beauty, breeding, charm and a dowry weighty enough to sink an East Indiaman. Yet the only man she fancies is the elusive Lord Ashburton, longtime friend of her older brother Jules. Naturally, he is one of the few men who does not see her at all, regarding her only as Jules’ little sister.

A Married Man…
Frustrated by her inability to catch Ashburton’s attention, Rosamund consoles herself with the company of her new best friend, Viscount Hargreaves. Lord Hargreaves is sophisticated, funny and kind and tries his best to help Rosamund capture Ashburton’s eye, to no avail. As their schemes to find her a husband become increasingly silly, Rosamund realises she has forgotten the purpose of this endeavor, for she is enjoying Hargreaves' company far too much to care. Too bad he’s already married to a woman who flaunts her affairs and makes the poor man’s life a misery.

A Scandal That Rocks the Ton…
When the viscount confesses his feelings for Rosamund have gone far beyond friendship, they both know the only honourable thing he can do is leave. But Lady Hargreaves had already decided her husband is enjoying his new friendship a little too much. Her spiteful retaliation leaves Rosamund’s reputation in ruins and Lord Hargreaves issuing a deadly promise of retribution.
A Grave Situation…
When Lady Hargreaves is found dead just hours after a furious altercation with her intoxicated husband, there’s only one direction the fingers are pointing.

**** This is the twelfth book in the series and focuses on the children of The Girls Who Dare series. They can be read separate from Girls Who Dare; however for a more intimate experience, one should read the Girls Who Dare first.

Hot hot

Another hot number in the Daring Daughters series I definitely enjoyed it from beginning to end.

They were both supposed to only be friends because not only is she unwed but she is a duke's daughter and he is married but after a scandal that his wife put into motion along with a tragic accident. they end up finding themselves caught in a scandal that only they can fight together and all of the trouble that's happened their love is what helps them weather the storm.

On a side note,

I would love to see how a side character ends up being saved. She did something terrible but she was also taken advantage of.

I look forward to the next book in this series

A beautifully crafted story of an innocent friendship that develops into true love, despite various machinations that result in a reputation in ruins and an accusation of murder. The journey to their HEA is genius and Emma’s writing just shines.

With the appearance of a cast of characters drawn from the previous books in the Daring Daughters series, as well as the preceding Girls Who Dare series (the wonderful series that started this whole amazing experience) you really feel like a part of their world.

In addition to Rosamund and Hargreaves’s story, a further building block is added to Evie and Louis’s love story (coming in book 13 ❤️) and we discover just a little bit more of his dark past.

With 3+ on-page detailed love scenes this is one of Emma’s spicier offerings - yum 😋.

NOTE: As some of the events and characters in this book are linked to previous books in this series, to fully enjoy this book you need to read the whole series. To fully appreciate the whole amazing world that Emma has built, I’d recommend reading the Girls Who Dare series first to discover the love stories of the Daring Daughters’ parents 🥰

Another great addition, but am I even surprised anymore? Not at all.

I really liked the main romance we are following in this. I was super skeptical of the fact that our MC is married, and felt weird about how that would develop, but I thought it was really sweet and not at all cheating/other women vibes. Their relationship started as a friendship, and then progresses only after our MCs wife dies. Honestly, this felt like one of the most angsty/tension filled historical romance books I’ve read from Emma. There was a lot of juicy drama, the side characters weaved in and their plot lines also amazing, so overall I loved this.

I got my Evie and Louis fix AND THE NEXT BOOK IS ABOUT THEM FINALLY. I’m practically screaming to myself here, I’m SO excited. Then do we have our next Matilda+Lucian/Evie+Louis couple of Kilbane and Cat?? We will see!

I hope this series is like 30 books!!! Emma, if you’re out there, please keep writing these!!! I insist on a book for every character single you’ve introduced! Haha :)

Emma Leech did it again!!! Can a series get any better?

Oh my - each page had me hooked. The what's going to happen next feel lingers in each Daring Daughters books and this aspect is more in this book.

We get the story of lovely Ozzie and Sebastian with bonus glimpse onto Evie and Louis' lives. Can't wait to read their story.

What's up with Pip BTW? Cat is up to no good too 😅😅... uhhh the daughters are getting more and more daring making their daddies nervous 🤣🤣🤣...

Looking forward to more and more in this series 🤩🤩

Will they let scandal to stand between them …

This book is a marvel, it mixes banters, angst, despair and finally love.
It left me wrecked and satisfied at the same time.
I think it was even a bit than the last books with so much unraveling, from a friendship born of desperation to murder with in parallel others’ life spiraling down and villains lurking in the shadows to strike, it is The read to keep us on edge until Louis and Evie’s story.
And I suppose Kilbane will take over once Louis is settling into respectable married life.

Hargreaves and Rosamund’s relationship began during the last book, and while at first it was to try to open the eyes of a young man how Rosamund is a catch, it turned into a friendship of sort, they banter and entertain each other until scandal might touch them.
Their friendship is what they want it to be as there is no other way for them to be as Sebastian is already married to a woman who drags his name in the mud.
Rosamund is sweet and Sebastian honorable, so they try to keep their distances but once the machine is turned on, difficult to turn it off.

I loved how all the women band together, and with their family they all stand up when one of them is threatened.
5 stars for this awesome addition to the series.

And now …. The hints the author has scattered along the pages about Louis’ past and the challenge awaiting him, and my!!!! the end ….
Now I would like for the summer to be behind us so I could have his book in my hands!

I really enjoyed the book, it was a page turner! Ms. Leech is incredibly skilled at world building. I highly recommend you read her first series, Girls Who Dare, before moving to Daring Daughters. This book is book 12 in the Daring Daughters series. The Girls Who Dare were about the mothers of the girls in the Daring Daughters series. Most of the mothers and their husbands (the heroes of Girls Who Dare), and their daughters are all throughout the Daring Daughters books. While it seems intimidating to have to read all those books, I can assure you it is well worth it. I have enjoyed every single book! There are some storylines that process through each book, so in order to totally understand (and enjoy) what’s happening, it is best to read all the books! I love all the characters and secondary characters that Ms. Leech comes up with. In this book, I would have liked to have seen more from Sebastian’s point of view and gotten to know him a bit better. I feel we saw a lot more of Rosamund than Sebastian. While she fell in love with him, it’s not 100% clear why to me as the reader as we only saw them talk a few times in a friendly manner. I would have liked to have seen more scenes between Rosamund and Sebastian getting to know each other and becoming friends. Despite everyone saying what a good person he was, I would have liked to have been shown some instances of that as a reader. I think the issues with his wife also could have been drawn out more. To have been shown scenes between him and his wife and what she was doing to him instead of just being told what she’d done in the past would have given the story a bit more meat. I understand what I’ve asked for would have made the book a lot longer, but I wouldn’t hesitate to pay a bit more for a longer book that gave the reader more insight into the main characters personalities and the building of their relationships.

Exciting

This is an awesome book which makes you want to be in love even if that love is for a married man.

Once again, I will start off by saying this was a great book. Sebastian and Rosamund begin a friendship when he listens to her problem with a young man, and he offers to help her gain the young man's attention. Sebastian is married to a horrible, cheating woman, but he is so kind and honorable, he has learned to ignore her throwing herself at all the eligible bachelors. As they learn more about one another, they build a friendship (both feel more but do not let the other one know) but they must watch the gossips making something out of it. Then all hell breaks loose; he is accused of murder, reputations are ruined - what is the answer? I loved all the twists and turns and how the author worked her magic to create wonderful solutions for a HEA - it was fantastic!

I loved seeing so many characters from past books - it felt like a family reunion to me. Also, in this book the author teases us little more with Louis and Evie's forbidden love and we find out a little more about Louis' terrible and dark past. I am so excited for the next book and it is going to be a long wait but it will be worth it!

Disappointed. The sexual relationship between Evie and Louis too graphic and used modern sexual terms--in other words not consistent with the alleged historical era. Also the Montagu lord being propositioned for a menage a trois with his wife by a so called "wicked" lord--really? What I have liked about Leech's books is that they are romantic and sensual without being graphic. The idea of the book hinting at an impossible love which became real-- was lovely, romantic and honorable. So sad that the writer now feels she has to "spice up" her books with the aforementioned. Writers such as Balogh, Chase, Vincy etc. can conjure the era without this kind of explicitness.

Fabulous book

I loved reading Rosamund and Hargreaves story. Quite a different love story but really good. And in amongst their story there were so many subplots with major developments that I was overwhelmed (in a good way). I love the minor characters and can’t wait for their full stories to be told. It’s hard to write a book with main characters and a large cast of minor characters and not find the main plot list amongst it all. Emma Leech does such a great job that the minor characters sub plots just flow beautifully and don’t distract from the main story, but add to it.

Another scorcher leaving us begging for more!

In true Leech style this tale is an intriguing mix of romance, comedy, disaster and redemption. Rosamund and Sebastian face tumultuous challenges to their relationship but (as expected with a romance) make it in the end. This book is so well crafted you are made to wonder if it will be a successful relationship until the last minute!! Masterfully done.
With a number of loose ends to tie I am eagerly anticipating the next in the series. Another delightful day of escapism - thank you!!

Rosamund and Sebastian

Another stellar read from Emma Leech. I can't get enough of her series. This book has a little bit of everything: friendship, intrigue, jealousy and a little bit of madness. The regular standards in an Emma Leech book also including heart, humor, heat, and of course the requisite characters, old and new. I look forward to continuing reading the next book in the series.

His second chance

I absolutely loved the story. Sebastian married the wrong woman when he was a dumb 18 yr old. He thought he was in love and won’t listen to anyone. Boy was he wrong and 10 yrs later he is still regretting everything. He is an honorable man and when he meets Lady Rosamond, he knows he has a friend. But when his disgrace of a wife set Rosamond up to be ruined what can Sebastian do to save her.
A wonderful story with a beautiful ending.
