This book gave me some good insight as to what happened in the American Revolution. I like learning about American history, so this book had a certain appeal to me. One downside of the book is how the author speaks to the reader throughout the book, with a tone intended to capture the interest of a younger reader. I think that the oldest person I would recommend the book to would be someone who has just started middle school.
Proofing this book before giving to my nephews for Christmas. This provides a good look at many of the major battles and figures in the American Revolution written in age-appropriate language.
Content Note: Quotes from soldiers are kept entirely accurate, including any language, in this series. D*** and h*** are the most common. No S*** or f-bombs. If you are uncomfortable with your younger boys reading that kind of language, you may wish to proof with a black market on hand.
"Great Battles for Boys" by Joe Giorello was an interesting historical read. Tells the story of American Revolutionary War during the late 18th Century. The author tells how the colonies formed, events leaing up to the War, and the aftermath of the American Revolution.
I enjoyed reading this book, especially as a history lover. In school I didn't throughly enjoy this era of history, but if I had this as a resource, I feel that I would enjoyed this era more.
I received a digital advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for my review.
This was a fun and informative book for battles around the American Revolution. I loved that each were laid out easily. If you know a little bit about the American Revolution, you will still enjoy these stories. If you know nothing about the American Revolution, this is a fun and easy way to dive into some of the battles, and the major players.
For kids who are interested in history, this is a perfect book!
Great book for introduction into the American Revolution and the major battles. My 7 year old son loved reading it. I believe when he gets older he’ll want to reread these books on his own. Reading this book got me more interested in learning more specifics about various battles. Totally recommend for any child interested in history.
