MARRIED TO A DOPEFIEND

A BOY BEING RAISED IN THE BROKEN HOME OF A SEX OBSESSED, NEGLECTFUL, AND ABUSIVE DOPEFIEND, GROWS UP TO BECOME RICH WITH ALL THE ADVANTAGES, ONLY TO REPEAT THE MISTAKES OF HIS FATHER AT A HIGHER LEVEL AND ON A PUBLIC STAGE.

Dear son,

I wish I'd raised you better.. I wish I'd never had sex in front of you and gave your mind a perverted view of intimacy and relationships. I wish I'd never smoked that first rock that turned me and your mother into monsters who couldn't turn back. I wish I'd fed you proper meals, and not left you alone in a pitch black apartment with no heat or electricity. I'm sorry. I hope you forgive me. I wish I'd never beaten you into submission and sent you to school with bruises. I wish I'd never shouted at the top of my lungs that you weren't shit and I wish I never had you. I was sick. The product had a hold of me and I couldn't let go. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I wish I never told you that we were just a planet full of niggas and bitches that would never be free. I wish I'd never hit women in front of you in the process of getting high or trying to escape reality. I wish I'd taught you about the birds and the bees, how to drive, throw a football, dribble a basketball, and be a responsible adult. I wish I'd been there in all the ways I wasn't. I wish I'd molded you in all the ways I didn't. I wish I'd been a better man. I wish I'd been a better father.

Sincerely,

Ray Jackson

Whew! This is the best book by far! So real! So raw! Informative! The author always drops gems in his work! It's so much I want to say but I don't want
To give it away. But I swear this went a different way than what I seen. But it spoke to my life. It told my story. I seen me in Khalil. But I also saw me in Ray as well. This book was about rising from the bottom but also teaching you how if you get ahead of yourself life can humble you as well! Great job! And you have an awesome pen game king! Keep bringing this heat!

Man that hits close to home

*spoiler alert*

The ending was very sad but very deep and profound. I was really rooting for Khalil. But unfortunately his pain has overtaken him and he was just too far gone and unable to listen to the voice of reason. The choices parents make essentially shape who they will be later in life. Khalil wanted so much to be different from his father but ultimately ended up just like him but worse.

never again

It wasn’t a terrible story but I struggled getting through it. The characters said “I beg your pardon “ too many times. Too many times they said how much Ray loved p*$$y. The authors kept referring to drugs as “the product”. Throughout the whole book the authors kept saying , Khalil would( do such and such) Ray would…. Andre would…. The whole entire book was written this way. I will never read anything else by these authors.

Typical

We either become the demons that haunt us in our youth or their exact opposite. In either case it's an extreme measure. In spite of being the best, being given the best and learning from the best, Khalil became the monster he hated the most. The story was very detailed and a good read, just disappointing in how the main character's story ended.

Dope

This was my first book by this author but I'm definitely hooked. I can't believe Khalil turned to crack. But they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The parents aren't supposed to bury their children. The loss of their son is tragic but I didn't see Khalil turning his life around. Money and power can definitely be a bad thing.

Such a great book! Well written and realistic. I think that a lot of
people can identify with his story. Sad!
