Chasing Humanity

Rate this book
A beautifully imperfect story about life, love, and a little bit of vampires.

Darius Freeman lives in a reality where vampires are 99% of the population and everything is created to keep them happy. As a human he has to donate blood every month in exchange for being a protected species. Although humans are physically safe by the laws they are a lower class and have to navigate a world that is not built for them anymore.

While Darius is working his 9pm-5am job he meets a human that has signed up to convert. Once she is a vampire though she will lose her ability to love, feel empathy, and care about anyone other than herself. She agrees to let Darius remind her of everything she would miss out on. Will she choose to give away her life in the end? Why does she want to become a vampire? What would you choose?

"Most of this story had this warm sort of searching vibe to it, with harsh realities and trauma mixed in. The tone would go from a type of motherly love to feelings of hopelessness or injustice. The variety of emotions is part of what makes this book almost feel melancholy and bittersweet in the way of a classic story such as Romeo and Juliet." - Kyare Betzing Editor of Chasing Humanity
