What’s worse than a gorgeous one-night stand who doesn’t remember you? Having to pretend to be his wife. For work.

The Rogues Division is a top-secret, highly-classified, “I’d tell you but I’d have to kill you” kind of organization. The kind of organization the government pretends not to love having at its disposal.

And we just got our newest recruit…Lachlan King, the sexy billionaire playboy who seduced me into one night of wild, soul-shattering, sex.

When I slipped out of his bed three months ago, I never expected to see him again. My future is set. I’m going to be a Rogues field agent. And field agents don’t date. Not to mention it’s forbidden to date each other. I’m relieved when he also pretends not to know me, so we can avoid any office awkwardness--until I realize he isn’t pretending.

Even worse luck, I’m assigned to play his lover in the field.

Okay, okay, deep breath. This mission will be easy. All I need to do is pretend to be madly in love with him and make sure neither of us die. Oh and remember this isn’t real. I’ve got to remember that. I cannot let this playboy seduce me again no matter what my belly does when he looks at me like I’m his.

Lachlan “the King,” however, has thrown himself into our undercover assignment a little too whole heartedly. He’s hell bent and determined on being as convincing as possible.

But there’s no way I’m letting him fake-husband me back into bed. I won’t fall for him this time. I won’t. Will I?

Wall Street Journal & USA Today Bestselling author, Nana Malone writes Sexy Feel-Good Romance and loves of all things romance and adventure.

That love started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin. It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

I don't understand why this book has as many 5 star ratings as it does. I thought the plot was all over the place -- to the point where the storyline becomes like a bad, straight-to-video type of movie. The only reason why I finished reading the book -- begrudgingly!!!! -- was because I paid for it. And why did I buy it? I got hooked by the idea of a spy thriller romance kinda thing. But the blurb was, imo, written a 100x better than the whole dang novel.

This is the first book of the Gentlemen Rogue series and starts where the prequel ended (The Heir). While Lock still doesn't remember being with Saff, they are getting closer on their own. When Saff gets her shot at going undercover, it is not what she expects. There is lots of danger and intrigue going on throughout the story. Saff learns some unsettling things about her brother and gets pushed to the breaking point with her men wanted to keep her from danger. This is what she has trained for her whole life. Is she ready to be the Heir? Lock also grows quite a bit in this book and learns more about his brother as well. This is an action packed read from start to finish. Enjoy!

I voluntarily wrote this review from reading an advanced copy of this book.

The thrill of temptation with all the heart of romance. The King is a page turner you can't put down. From spicy to dicey, Saffron and Lachlan are one surprise after another. Malone is the queen of suspense. The heat is on and prepared to steal away with your heart.

Worth waiting for but you need to read The Heir to understand the beginning. This was such a fantastic read – intrigue, steam, mystery! You have to pay attention to the details or you will miss out! Wow, I’ve read almost all of Nana’s books and though I knew what to expect but the depth of this story and the ending were almost beyond words. She writes strong women and equally unique men in her stories and these two were phenomenal! The first twist is that the Heir is a woman! Gotcha there when I know everyone expects a male figure for that role. And the King is just a name – not royalty – or at least not so far! She weaves so much into her stories from other books that you become a part of the community of characters as you read! Just wow!

have nothing to say other than; it had a promising plot line, interesting start but completely bombed the ending.
think i developed anger issues in the course of reading this book because all my highlights and notes are screaming about how i fucking hate the bitch saffron and how she’s one of the worst fmcs since coho, other than that the mmcs main personality trait was his dick which was amusing at first but then got too repetitive.

… “has nothing to say” but writes paragraphs.🕺

Saff and Lock can't be together. Not when she's the one training him. Not when agents aren't supposed to have entanglements, so as to not be distracted and not to make them potential targets if something goes wrong and cover is blown. But the connection between them is so strong, it cannot be denied. So strong that even though Lock cannot remember everything about their night, he's still drawn to her, still falling hard for her. The obstacles seem almost impossible, but perhaps there's a way they can be together. Perhaps Saff can continue keeping them a secret from her ridiculously overprotective brother.

Lachlan may have started out as a disappointment, a playboy who didn't take life seriously, but since he's been training, since he met Saffron, he's changed, become a man who deserves the badass, amazing woman that his love is. But, when push comes to shove, does he really trust Saffron as his team leader? He'll need to if he wants to keep her in his life, because not only does she want his love, she NEEDS his full trust that she is the best at what she does.

Can I just tell you how much I love it when a heroine is such a badass like Saffron?! She's so strong and fierce, and to top it off, she's got the biggest heart. But not only is she a badass, she's the billionaire, the heiress, not Lock. A twist on the usual billionaire romance, and I was so here for it. Lock was the perfect guy for her once he figured himself out. Their connection is intense, and the pace is fast and suspenseful. I loved this couple, how they grew together, and finally admitted their feelings to each other. There is an excellent supporting cast who were just as intriguing as Saff and Lock, and now I am very impatient for Saint's story.

I have been reading Ms Malone for years and years.
And not for nothing, I love her books. All of them.

This. May. Be. My. Very. Favorite.

Soooo goood. Sooooo well written.

This book starts in the novella The Heir.

It’s the tale of true love, some amnesia, a clandestine agency and family dynamics. It’s fan-flipping-tastic.

I could not recommend this more.
Best of 2022 shelf it goes!

Highly recommend.

Cannot wait for Saint’s story!

Okay! I see you Saffron. Much respect.
First of all, I strongly insist that the Heir should be read before beginning this book. The background story really makes a difference in establishing the history and chemistry between Saff and Lachlan.

What a fun adventure in espionage and love. Lachlan and Saffron were a bit angsty as they fought in training and fought their attraction. I loved the way the author really allowed Saffron to be a girl boss and stand on her own merit. She was smart, strong and sexy. She was Lachlan’s equal in every way except he was rich. Saffron reminded me of Nikita and that was a tv show that I really enjoyed. I really liked Lachlan because he was good man. He pulled out the stops to win the respect of his lady who was his superior in the organization. Each main character had an interesting back story and motivation for why they are an operative. This is what a romantic suspense book should be like. Fun, fighting and you know what that starts with an f!

This was a beast of a book in the very best way and I couldn't get enough.
I've been reading this author for a few years now and have got used to her doing things a certain way. I should of known from the EPIC novella that this was going to be different (again in the very best way).
I'm going to keep this review vague as so much happens and also don't want to give future things away, but please note that this amazing book has been added to my top reads list, it would of been a crime not to.
I will say that after the epic end of The Heir, I didn't expect what was coming next, and from cover to cover I was utterly transfixed.
So many things made this an exceptional book, from fierce main characters, loyal secondary ones (plus some surprises) and spy themed action packed plots.
I seriously recommend that you one click immediately, you don't want to miss out.

The King fed my need for steamy romances that are similar in comedy and action to the film The Kingsman. Young, hot, and jacked secret agents sparring sexily, being horny, pretending to be married, and taking down bad actors? Sign me up!!

It took me a minute to settle into the world building and it appears there is a prequel novella that I'll definitely going back to read, detailing King and Saff's one-night stand before he's roofied and taken away to be part of the Rogues' training program (and forgets Saff!!). I was like what is going on, should I know some more about this organization and what the point is and why he was kidnapped?

Whew these two are absolutely panting for each other in every scene, which I enjoyed, but by the end I was feeling the length and not in the fun sexy/girthy way. The pacing is a bit off for me, lots of rises and falls and lots of training scenes that aren't imo necessary? BUT I forgive it all for the banter and the fun characters.

The last sentence of the epilogue made me scream and made me want to jump immediately into the next book (but I have to tackle a different audiobook for work ahh). Truly loved both narrators who really brought this to life.

Content notes: Saff is a Black cis woman of British & American descent, with a British accent. She's also the "heir" to the rogues division and has an adopted brother named Gabe who's been running things since their parents were un-alived. King is a white, cis English man and billionaire former fuckboi who is kidnapped by the Rogues to get him in line for his 'legacy' appt to the organization. gun violence throughout, fighting, sparring, wounds, danger bangs, explosions, unwanted solicitation of a threesome during a mission

Ohhh baby, The King is here and it’s a freaking great book!!! Lemme tell you, I finished this book in one damn day. I love the pace, Nana Malone didn’t string you along with unnecessary chapters, she got right to the point. The mystery surrounding the story was very interesting and babbbbyyy the spice was definitely in high in this one.

Saffron and Lachlan are probably the two most entertaining characters I’ve met, they kept me cracking up and I love love their energy together. You know the story is even better when the secondary characters have you begging they get their own story.

All I’ll say is Gabe, he’s a freaking pain in the ass but y’all trust me when I say this, he’s mine so back off😂😂😂😂😂

As an agent and future head of the super secret Rogues organization, Saffron doesn't get to have a normal social life. To celebrate her birthday, she lets loose on a night out on the town and ends up having a one-night stand with the charming Lachlan King. Months later, they cross paths on the agency campus, and she realizes that Lachlan doesn't remember who she is. Saffron and Lachlan's intense chemistry comes to a head when they are sent on an undercover mission in which they have to pretend to be married. They have to make their act convincing and they begin to blur the lines between what's real and what's an act.

I LOVED EVERY PAGE OF THIS BOOK! I knew from reading the novella before this book (The Heir) that this one was going to be good. The Heir tells the story of how Saffron and Lachlan met and their one-night stand. Their chemistry and connection was like fire from the beginning and I couldn't wait to jump into this story.

Undercover stories are a favorite of mine because I love the cleverness and excitement of it all. This story had all of that combined with the intriguing aspect of Lachlan training as a Rogues agent. The simulations and training exercises he had to go through were elaborate and fascinating. When the Rogues agents were out in the field, I was on the edge of my seat wondering how they would pull off their missions.

Saffron was a badass woman who was on her way to becoming a great leader of the Rogues organization. She had been training to be a Rogues agent since she was little and she no doubt would fulfill her destiny as the heir to the Rogues empire. Saffron was strong, independent, wickedly smart, and confident. I love that Nana Malone writes these awesome heroines who don't need saving or protecting.

The steamy scenes in this book were insanely hot! Lachlan had the charm and charisma to seduce Saffron and when they got down to business, it was like fireworks. His erotic talk was on point and he was adventurous in discovering what Saffon liked. The sex scenes in this book were super steamy and I couldn't get enough!

Pick up this book for an exciting and intriguing forbidden romance with lots of steam and suspense!

Steam level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

This is the conclusion Saffron and Lachlan's story, so be sure to read The Heir first. These two really take you on one mighty jaunt that is filled with twists, turns, highs and lows. This book picks up after where that stunning cliffy left us at the end of book one and Wowzer, the impact is extreme. Taut with tension, rich with drama, rife with feels, saturated with lush angst and offering up plenty of ample sparks and sizzle, this book will hold you firmly in its grip, have you dancing on the edge and give your heart a vicious workout in the process. I am freely posting a frank review.

THE KING is the second instalment in Nana Malone’s contemporary, adult GENTLEMEN ROGUES erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a British black ops group of men and women known as Rogues, who work for a group known as Oversight. This is the continuing story of twenty-five year old, billionaire playboy turned Rogue Lachlan King, and the twenty-two year old heir to the Rogue division Saffron Abbot. THE KING should not be read as a stand alone as King and Saffron’s story begins in the introductory novella THE HEIR.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Saffron and Lachlan) THE KING picks up several weeks after the events and cliff hanger of book one THE HEIR. On the night of her twenty-second birthday, Saffron embarked on a one-night stand with a stranger, a stranger who would not remember what happened or why. Weeks later, in the halls of the Rogue mansion, Saffron would come face to face with the man she could never forget but a man who did not remember our story line heroine. Enter Lachlan King and the man with whom Saffron would fall in love. Saffron Abbott is a Rogue; a member of an elite group of black ops operators currently overseen by Saffron’s brother Gabe but Gabe refuses to allow Saffron to engage in any outside jobs, a refusal that will pit brother against sister in a need to protect the surviving Abbott family. When Gabe gets news that the people responsible for the murder of their parents may have been found, Saffron and Lachlan King are tasked with getting up close and personal with the inner circle, a task that requires our couple to act as newlywed husband and wife but all does not go according to plan as Lachlan and the team must break protocol to save one of their own. What ensues is the rekindling romance and forbidden relationship between Lachlan and Saffron, and the potential fall-out as Saffron struggles with the knowledge that respect and trust are something she has apparently never earned.

The relationship between Saffron and Lachlan begins as a one-night stand that Lachlan cannot remember. Saffron is heart broken and hurt in the wake of her attraction to the man she is now responsible to train, a man who struggles with a familiarity he cannot recall. Forbidden to engage in a relationship between Rogues, Saffron and Lachlan must keep their affair on the down low, an affair that is not as secret as they had originally thought. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my ‘romance’ story lines.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters: Saffron’s brother Gabe Webb, as well as Rogues and trainees Saint, Rookie, Robert, Maxim, and the return of Saffron’s best friend and fellow Rogue Tabatha. Saint’s story is next.

THE KING is an emotional story of betrayal and vengeance, heart break and hurt, trust and acceptance, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are strong, impassioned, and dynamic.

A story filled with great characters, lots of action in and out of the bedroom, chemistry that will ignite with just a spark. The King will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. With a very overprotective brother adding to the excitement. Saff is more than ready to become a field agent and lead a team, but her brother keeps holding her back. He already lost their parents, and he doesn’t want to lose her. She doesn’t understand his protection. She feels more than ready to go on a mission. Her dream comes true when she is assigned to go after the man responsible for her parent’s deaths. With twist and turns throughout this mission. King is also a member of this field team. Although he doesn’t remember their night together something is pulling him close to her. He feels the connection but doesn’t understand it. The more time he spends with Saff the more she smiles and the happier she appears.
Will he ever remember her? A connection so strong that even the drugs he was given can’t break. Can these two agents find a way to be together?
Nana Malone once again gives readers exactly what they are looking for … perfection. A story you cannot put down and one that will take you on a journey with twists and turns and keep you going until the final word. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the other agents.

Dual POV, workplace romance, fake relationship, SPICY SPICY

✨WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?!
Honestly this book took me a minute to get into, BUT once I did OMG I am OBSESSED!

✨Saffron is a BADASS! I’ve never read a book where the FMC is the one training the MMC, but clearly I’ve been missing out. Saffron is part of the group of assassins called the Rouges, her family business, and she trains rookies. Saffron has always wanted to follow in her parents footsteps, but her brother Gabe has other plans that involve keeping her out of danger as much as possible.

✨Lachlan, a rookie being trained by you guessed it Saffron. Lachlan is better known for being the playboy and wealthy recruit, but he has earned his place! He keeps having feelings, and flashbacks to a night with his trainer, Saffron. He’s Eager to prove himself, and become one of the Roges.

✨After one steamy night, Saffron finds herself in charge of training Lachlan who seems to have completely forgotten their night together. The tension, the banter, the jokes, AND OMG THE SPICE!

✨This book has all the action (inside the bedroom and out *wink*), twists and turns you don’t see coming, and an array of characters you will completely fall in love with. I simply can not wait for more!!

Saffron and Lachlan’s story was so good!! With their previous book I was captivated by them and I was dying to keep reading their story. The book is filled with romance, drama, suspense and steamy scenes 🔥

Saffron was definitely a badass, Nana always writes the best heroines and reading about her journey and her growth was the best. Despite everything she went through she was very strong and I loved her relationship with Tabitha and how they had each other’s backs.

Lachlan was incredible too, he was very cocky and charming and even though he was reluctant at first to be a rogue he became a very good agent and little by little he started accepting his job.

Saff and Lachlan were amazing together, I loved their relationship from the beginning and how much chemistry they had, despite everything that happened Lachlan always knew Saff was special and he always tried to tell her how wonderful she was. I also really enjoyed reading their banter at first and how all that tension between them started building up. They were very similar in some ways and I loved how at the end everything worked out for them and they got their happy ending.

Now I can’t wait to read more of this new series and see more of the side characters.

I am loving this new Gentlemen's Rogues Series.

Saff(ron) is such a badass and Lach(lan) is hot!. In the first book they have a night of hotness and then she sneaks out the next morning as she feels she can't have a relationship due to her agency status. He wakes up and is captured.

This book picks up 3 months later. She runs into him on the Rogues campus during the night. She thinks he is such a playboy that he just doesn't remember their night together. He doesn't remember her but feels like he should. Neither of them know at the time that he was drugged before capture and the 48 hours around the time they met is erased from his memory. After finding out the truth, both have trust issues but their chemistry is off the charts. This story is filled with romance, suspense and I am loving their story. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Book 2 begins three months after the cliffhanger from the previous story. I won’t spoil the story, but I will say a lot has happened in 90 days. Lachlan and Saffron must navigate working together while addressing their feelings as well. Of course, we have some memorable moments from some of our favorite Team Winston Isles members. In addition to all of this, we have a case which has is extremely personal for Saffron. The action, steamy romance, and wit had me glued in. There truly wasn’t a monotonous moment in this story. I’m glad that Lachlan and Saffron did get their happy ending, but of course, the ending has me anticipating the next story with my clue-gathering notebook. Overall, I enjoyed this story.

What an exciting conclusion to Lachlan and Saffron's story. Plenty of drama, danger, intrigue and sexy times as truths are revealed, misunderstandings threaten to derail possibilities... Once I started reading I didn't want to put the book down. My only complaint is the story ended... and with a cliffhanger that takes us to Saint's story.

The King is another example of why I just love beyond words Nana Malone’s writing. It is so easy to get swept away with her characters & their journeys.

Lachlan & Saffron’s story starts where the Heir left off. And from the first page, I was hooked in and couldn’t stop reading. Lachlan & Saffron’s chemistry was off the charts & oh the suspense. I just loved these two characters together and going on their journey.

I actually was more interested about Tabatha's and Gabe's dynamic, tbh. It feels like there's something happening with them, or like they sphere some kind of history.
I didn't feel connected to the main characters. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the writing, or King and Saff, I just didn't get that feeling: the giddiness, the excitement.
I would have loved to get more answers about Gabe and Webster, about Charlie's implications in the Rogues, about how Graciela is connected to it all.
Maybe in the next books.

This is book two in The Gentleman Rogues Series and it continues Lachlan and Saffron's story and omg it is definitely a must read. This Book should be read after reading book one The Heir which ends with a cliff hanger. Lachlan and Saffron had a bit and intense night together and then she disappeared and then Lachlan is taken and they meet again at The Rogue Division Compound which is a highly classified and top secret organisation but he doesn't recognise her making her feel angry, confused and thinking that he is playing games because he got what he wanted from her and then ghosted her but things are a lot more complicated than that. Lachlan and Saffron have a connection and chemistry that is so strong and intense that they sizzle every time that they are near each other or in the same room but they can't do anything about it as there are rules that Route Agents have to abide by and that is no dating or getting involved with another agent but Lachlan is confused by his reaction to Saffron and doesn't understand why he feels like something is going on that he doesn't understand. There are twists and turns along with danger, suspense, kidnapping, drama, intrigue, misunderstandings, trust issue's, secret's, strong and some difficult situations that you definitely didn't see coming. Wow Wow Wow I really don't know how to express just how amazing this book is and I couldn't put it down as it had me turning the pages right and reading it until the early hours of the morning as it was so addictive and the storyline pulled you in right from the first page and kept my attention throughout and had me on the edge of my seat and then add in the explosive cliff hanger ending and it is definitely a book that you have to read and I can't wait to read Saint's story next. The first book that I read by Nana Malone was The Heir which started this series and now I am definitely booked and can't wait to read more of her book's in the future.

This new Gentleman Rogues series is definitely heating up in The King as Lachlan King and Saffron Abott find themselves together again but now they are working and training together with a twist as Saffron is the trainer and Lachlan is the trainee. Unfortunately, Lachlan is a bit fuzzy on their past history together.
Saffron, the true heir to the Rogue dynasty is a badass as they come but her true passion is to become a field agent. Her brother, Gabe, however is in charge at the moment and his need to protect her is keeping her from using her actual training in the field.
Lachlan is not training to be a Rogue agent because he wants to. He is being forced to train for a year to help him find some direction in his life and keep his inheritance. What he discovers is not only is he a natural at this job but the one night of passion he shared with Saffron is still simmering under the surface for both of them, but rules are rules and no fraternization is allowed.
I can tell that this series is going to keep the readers on their toes with the new cast of characters, the danger that lingers around every corner and the non stop excitement that drives these people to do their jobs.

Saffron is feeling stifled as despite all the training hours she has put in and her attempts to show her brother that she is qualified to be given an assignment he has been unwilling to do so. When she has the opportunity to investigate the death of their parents by going undercover as a married couple she is all in if only her partner wasn’t the same man she spent a night with a few months earlier that she found unforgettable and he can’t seem to remember.

Lachlan finds himself recruited as a Rogue agent which given the position he finds himself in is the best option. He feels a connection to her that exceeds anything he has ever felt before however he is uncertain about what he has done to merit her treatment of him. The one thing he does know is that he will do anything to keep her safe.

The chemistry between them is intense and the strength and independence in Saffron is the perfect challenge to the protector in Lach as they take us on a surprising and suspenseful journey which leaves us wanting more of them and their story.

Saffron and her brother Gabe are part of the Rogues which is a division of the government's dirty work. Hired assassins. In charge of the Rogues Gabe does everything thing he can to keep Saffron out of the field for her own safety.
Sneaking out of the Rogue's Division the last thing Saffron was expecting was to encounter the man from her past.  Ah the mind blowing O's that brought her to her knees but the man has no idea who she is.
Lachlan has always been a spoilt billionaire playboy until one day he ended up at the Rogues. No idea at first how he got there or why. Now he was being trained by Saffron who felt familiar, her scent and oh those dirty dreams. No fraternizing.
