*A Virgin for the Beastly Highlander is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Lydia Kendall and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
Lydia Kendall has always been passionate about medieval romance. Having traveled to the Scottish Highlands several times as a young girl, she has always been drawn to their unparalleled beauty and history. A history that inspired stories of love and passion, mixed with tradition in the most appealing way for every hopeless romantic - much like herself.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Lydia Kendall has a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, and over the last decade she has been writing non-stop for several clients - that is until she decided to start publishing her own work. When she isn't writing, Lydia loves spending her time in the beautiful outdoors with her loving husband and baby daughter.
Follow Lydia on this sensational journey of hot highlanders, bonny lassies, and fierce passion...and find sheer pleasure in the magnificent world of the Scottish countryside - one that will sweep you off your feet and keep you begging for more!
Just not a lot of substance to this one. The heroine is a fighting badass 100% out of nowhere, despite likely never having been left out of the castle where she lives under her father's wing.
Also, the hero is too polite to ever be truly "tortured", so that's false advertising as well.
This book needs serious work. The story is choppy and makes little sense. There are time jumps, mistakes in character activity, conversations that make absolutely no sense, and huge plot holes. 30% was all I could take.
Intriguing story with good plot and characters but there are technical problems with the book. Instances of words missing from a sentence, a couple of times entire sentences appear to be missing, random letters in sentence, other typos, wrong pronouns used, random names appear in story with no explanation of who they are, no explanation of how Olivia knew who Daman was, the name of the horse Olivia rides after the kidnapping changes back and forth between Garric and Gale (what happened to the horse?), and the explanation behind the kidnappings of Connor's mother and sister isn't explained.
A great storyline with strong characters who are willing to let their insecurities show - at least to each other. This was an ARC and I hope was unedited, as there were many inconsistencies and grammatical errors. Despite this, the mysteries were mostly linked. I was puzzled by the appearance of Olivia's father at the crucial moment - where did he come from and where did Joseph go? The time lines are questionable: first the long, long period where Conner's family are missing, then in the extended epilogue where the two parallel stories are completely inconsistent. Nevertheless, I would recommend the finished version.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Emma and Alexander. This is a sweet romance filled with a ton of emotions. The author does a great job pulling you into the story and making you feel like you are right there with them. It moves fluidly with perfectly painted scenes and is a heartwarming story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This title and synopsis is the most clickbait thing I've ever seen! The book was wonderful and very light on seen, not steamy but it had little to do with the description. Our H was so kind from the beginning not at all beastly and our h was a virgin until marriage which is the normal for ladies of her lineage. So yeah, I don't understand the need to misguide when the book itself is so good ?
I would have liked this book with more adventure and less poor me psych 101. Half the story seemed to be filled cry me a river….but never explained how her Dad knew she was in the carriage. I wonder if all the typos happen when the book is transferred to digital or if the editing is that bad?
Enjoyed this book by Lydia Kendall. Loved how the King bought the Conner and Olivia together to bring peace to their two clans. How Olivia helps Conner overcome his fears of his mother and sister disappearing years before ... and the love they discover for each other.
This book was very enjoyable in the beginning, but close to the end it became a contribution. For one in the beginning of the book she was throwing daggers to save Conners life, but near the end of the book she stopped wearing her daggers and became weak.
Great story wonderful story line, great characters. A story from enemies to lovers. Misunderstandings between two clans Will last for Years. And then the King proclaimed, Connor and Olivia shall marry A lot of truths and secrets will be revealed. And they will learn that somethings are not what they seem. Thank you ❤️
A beautiful romance between two enemy clans .Olivia has to marry Conner on the order of the king. They have a hard time and lot of danger. Olivia was like a beam of sunshine in Conners life. I enjoyed this book. I recommend this book to other readers .
I can't believe how much I loved this novel. I got nothing done because the only thing that I did today was read this story. The whole story is great but the ending was over the edge. You really need to read it too. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I absolutely loved this book. Strong characters and storyline. Olivia and Conner were very loving and just finding his family was great. Lydia your books are all so good. From start to finish it keeps you going. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🥰🥰
Th ok s story takes you on a fascinating journey from clan minorities & suspicions to resolutions thru solving kidnappings & attempted murders. Enjoyed the characters of Connor & Olivia! Good job!
Loved Conner and Olivia! What started out as an arranged marriage through the order of the King turned out into a whirlwind romance and I loved it! I could not put this book down once I started! Loved the extra mystery/suspense and how it was all connected.
The story was ok but the glaring mistakes with characters’ names, pronoun errors, and even the dead horse’s name! There was even a story line error!! Ughh, it was painful to read!!
I read this as an ARC. A good story but some sections didn’t flow very well and were confusing, Olivia was able to defend herself in the beginning, but later she almost appeared weak. The editing needs work, hopefully the author made the corrections before the release.
This was a good book. There was a lot strife with Conner trying to find his mother and sister. I figured someone in the castle was involved. The extended epilogue was good too.
It was an ok read but falling in love was far fetched. Olivia was said to carry daggers but didn’t when she should have. Typo of horses names irritated me. The story line was too quick. Not drawn out enough to be interesting. Sorry but the book wasn’t for me.
i liked the dichotomy of both the two main characters. their chemistry was obvious and it was very interesting to see them work things out and be vulnerable with eachother.
