This reader brings together primary material from the major religions of the world, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. It combines passages from the scriptures, with classic statements from major thinkers and institutions.
It's a good overview of the essentials of each religion (judging from the "Christianity" chapter), and found the first chapter, "Secular Humanism," to be an intriguing addition.
Although, I don't think the editors were entirely fair to Islam (Why would you include a piece from Osama bin Laden, condoning violence, when you claim to be representing what is beautiful in each religion?).
