It’s her heart…or his life. What will protecting Charlie cost her?

'Lizzie, you need to start trusting God again. He is listening to your prayers, I promise. '

This book was simply amazing. For a suspense lover, it ticked all the boxes and then some. Lynette Eason and Sami Abrams have definitely excelled at giving me a most excellent read. We are taken back on a visit to Eason's Elite Guardians and what a great group of folks it is. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with them so much.

Charlie Lee has been injured badly on an undercover assignment and loses the memory of his last four years. He has forgotten that he intends to keep Lizzie Tremaine at arm's length. Both Charlie and Lizzie have issues that need to be worked out and just maybe this bit of amnesia can work in their favor. But first, they have to get past bad guys trying to kill them.

'God, help me. Words refused to come. He had no idea what he needed, just that life seemed beyond his capabilities to death with at the moment.'

Take a wild, action-packed ride as Eason and Abrams take us spiraling into one of the most suspenseful stories ever! And even more impactful is the wonderful spiritual themes incorporated into the book. This one is for the keeper shelf, destined to be reread. Well done!

My thanks to Sunrise Publishing for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is entirely my own.

This one was pretty fun...had the amnesia trope so you know I had to check it out...lol...

Characters:
Charlie was such a fun character! I loved him and his side of the story!
Lizzie was cool and I liked her, her back story is super traumatic and it almost felt like a little much on that side of things...but that's just me.
As always the supporting characters were great and I *ahem* am refraining from checking out their books from the library.

Themes:
Trusting God and realizing that He is the one in charge. We can't change the outcome by worrying.

Langauge:
N/A

Romance:
A few kisses, again nothing super detailed.

Overall:
This was a fun intense read. I definitely enjoyed it even if the amnesia trope wasn't quite what I thought but it was still just as fun!
The one thing that buffed me was a loose end at the end where someone was supposed to kill Charlie but that's never followed through with...and we're left hanging. *shrugs* it's not huge...I just don't like being left hanging.
Other than that this one was very intense and interesting. And poor Charlie with all his various injuries.

Welcome to the world of Elite Guardians where danger lurks with every assignment. It takes everyone to figure things out when Charlie, on an undercover job gets beaten up and losses his short-term memory, as he slowly regains bits and pieces of his life, he questions his relationship with his partner Lizzie. Is she his partner and friend or much more?
The excitement never lets up and is downright scary at times with drugs and arms deals and many a bomb threat.
This kept me turning pages to find out what happened to not only the threats, but the romance of Lizzie and Charlie. A great addition to the series, I enjoyed the camaraderie among the team members and the banter between Charlie and Lizzie. Can’t wait to read the next installment.

Wowza, this an explosive read! It grabbed me from the opening chapters, and it did not let up once. I loved the chemistry of Lizzie and Charlie, and how their backstories added real drama to their relationship. They both had a lot to overcome to find happiness and that made for a great read. The mystery was exciting and definitely kept me guessing. This story fit in nicely with the rest of the Elite Guardians series and I am super excited there are more stories yet to come! I can't wait!!

Sami A. Abrams hits it out of the park with this newest installment of the Elite Guardians Collection. Like in it’s predecessor, Driving Force, this book has explosive action and heart-thumping suspense, while still showcasing a beautiful story of faith, trust, and hope.
Impending Strike focuses on not one, but two Elite Guardians. Lizzie Tremaine and Charlie Day are work partners, best friends, and…something more? Secretly they’d each like to be, but both are buried under their own mountains of doubt, worry, and even questioning their own self-worth .
Lizzie pulls Charlie from his undercover job to provide backup on a job. As Charlie returns to the block of his undercover character’s apartment, he overhears something he shouldn’t, and gets severely beat up…left for dead.
But he’s found and taken to the hospital. The problem is, when he wakes up, the last four years are wiped from his memory. He doesn’t remember Lizzie at all. As attempts on his life are continued, Lizzie doing her best to protect him and figure out who is behind it all, Charlie and Lizzie get to know one another. Lizzie really likes this “new” Charlie, the one who doesn’t hide his true self behind a wisecracking persona, turning everything into a joke. Charlie begins to fall for the spunky, fearless, cares-for-everyone Lizzie, not realizing he’s had feelings for her all along.
In between all the action and suspense, there are sweet, quiet inspirational moments of them growing their trust in the Lord and in each other. Moments that give each of them a glimmer of hope for a future together.
I’m sure whoever picks up this book will not be able to put it down!
I thank Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. My opinion of this book is entirely my own.

Impending Strike
Elite Guardians Collection #2
By Sami A. Abrams and Lynette Eason

Charlie Lee is the only guy in the Elite Guardians and he has no problem with that. His friendship with his partner Lizzie Tremaine is what it is, but if things were different, if he were different he wouldn't mind something more. But he has his work and his special undercover assignment from the mayor to help bring done the growing drug threat.

Lizzie has been keeping a secret, one she fears could get her ousted from the Guardians if the truth ever came out. But she's protected her secret for years and can't see herself ever revealing her greatest weakness. When she misses a call for help from her best friend she fears it is her fault. If Charlie pulls through she'll just have to keep more distance between them, after all, she doesn't want another good man's blood on her hands.

An unexpected attack costs Charlie four years of memories and the threat of a deadly upcoming attack has been lost along with everything else. Can Charlie remember before it is too late? And can Lizzie keep him alive long enough for his memories to return?

Impending Strike is the second book in the Elite Guardians Collection and it keeps the action going full speed as the Guardians deal with a threat to their own while trying to uncover why Charlie was attacked. What did he hear or see? And is his cover still intact? Though this is part of a series this thrilling read can be read as a standalone if you have not read the other Elite Guardian books - though reading one can never be as satisfying as reading them all. Excellent reading if you want something that takes you out of your day-to-day normal. This is one you won't want to put down.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations, but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

“She believed in God. She truly did. But during the times she’d desperately wanted Him to answer her prayers with a yes, He’d chosen no.”
Lizzie and Charlie have been partners for awhile, and are a couple whose friends have been holding out, hoping they one day will get together. When Charlie is attacked while undercover, and loses his memory, Lizzie steps in to help protect him while realizing it may be time for the two of them to face the feelings between them. However, they both have things holding them back. Can they let go of their fear and their past to move forward in hope for their future?
This story was so good! I enjoyed the writing and the suspense kept me guessing through all the twists and turns as we tried to solve the puzzle of who was behind all of the chaos. Lizzie and Charlie were an engaging pair, who had known each other long enough to have a rapport with each other and understand each other. I really loved continuing to see the Elite Guardians team. I also loved Lizzie's mom- she was one of my favorite characters. She was so supportive and a wonderful mom.

Impending Strike is an exciting addition to the Elite Guardians Collection series, which is also a continuation of the Elite Guardians series. I am enjoying the chance for side characters from the original series to have their stories told.

One of the things I really liked about this story was the way Charlie’s true personality came out when he ended up with temporary amnesia after being attacked. He was still the same man, yet Lizzie was finally able to see the serious side of Charlie, the side that wasn’t covering up his pain with jokes and deflection. And he was able to recognize his true feelings for Lizzie when he didn’t have a lot of other history floating around inside him, prompting him to keep Lizzie at a distance.

Charlie and Lizzie had some big troubles and concerns that weighed them down in life and made both of them hesitant to love anyone again. Lizzie especially needed to learn to trust in God and recognize that her decisions in life were not the catalyst for various tragedies that she endured.

I really liked these two together. They had a great connection as friends and romantic chemistry that finally had the chance to break through in this novel.

I liked Lizzie's character. She was dedicated to her job and committed to helping those in her care. She had experienced  a lot of loss but was still willing to care about others.

Charlie is presented in two lights: the person he was before amnesia and the person he was after. Ms. Adams did a great job of getting the reader to root for the "real" Charlie to emerge.

I enjoyed watching the characters come together and the unraveling of the mystery.

Readers will be reminded that regardless of how out of control things may seem, God is ultimately in control.

Do you enjoy fast paced romantic suspense?
Impending Strike is a book that always has something happening. I enjoyed the way the amnesia trope was was incorporated. If you enjoy the kind of banter between Zeva and Tony in NCIS you will definitely enjoy the dynamic of Lizzie and Charlie.
Glutton for romance that I am, didn't wish for more romance between the two main characters.
Yet that is often what I say in romantic suspense….
That said this story has twists, action, mystery and a story about making peace with the past.
A good, fast read for romantic suspense lovers.

“Impending Strike” by Sami A. Abrams is book two of the Elite Guardians Collection.

Bodyguard and single mom, Lizzie, turns her skills into helping, Charlie, one of the Guardians own after he’s injured while undercover.

I really wanted to enjoy this book more, but when I started reading, it felt like I was starting in the middle, that I missed out on something important. For example, Lizzie has a nickname for Charlie and there is no explanation of why she calls him that.
Unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect to the characters and the plot seemed flat/cliché to me.

It's a race against time to remember...what?

If a person is going to start a series out of order it's always best to start with a book as good as Impending Strike. Yeah, yeah, I know this is the second Elite Guardians Collection novel but I'm a fan of Sami A. Abrams' Love Inspired Suspense, so, what the hey...

While it probably would have made more sense if I'd started with the first book in the series, I was still able to get into the swing of things pretty quickly. And, anyway, this series also just happens to be a spinoff from Lynette Eason's Elite Guardians, of which I have only read the first book years ago when it was first released. But it was Sami A. Abrams' characters that I really fell in love with. Lizzie and Charlie were the perfect couple for this story of murder and mayhem. Both are so tough and yet vulnerable – and both are hiding secrets from their past that are affecting any chance at a future together. It was also kind fun watching the bodyguard guarding the...bodyguard...

Impending Strike is most definitely a romantic suspense novel. It had everything my intrigue and pandemonium loving heart could ask for and I was kept on the edge of my seat all the way through the second Elite Guardians Collection book. This was one of those books that I didn't want to put down and because I didn't really have to, well, I just didn't...

I really enjoyed Impending Strike, Sami A. Abrams' riveting addition to the Elite Guardians Collection series. After finishing it I am definitely going to have to read the first book as well as look forward to the next one...

Wow! This is an intense story that you won't soon forget!! Impending Strike has fascinating characters that burrow their way into your heart and a plot that keeps you turning the pages. Someone wants Charlie Lee dead and another member of the Elite Guardians becomes his bodyguard. She's determined to keep Charlie safe until they find the killer, but who is going to protect Lizzie Tremaine from falling deeper under Charlie's spell?

Sami A. Abrams and Lynette Eason have joined forces to give readers an intriguing plot filled with twists, turns, danger, and suspense, but the human struggles add the perfect touch. Lizzie has doubts about God's presence in her life and Charlie can't remember the last four years of his life. Throw in their ever-increasing romantic feelings for each other and you have romantic Christian suspense at its best! Fans of 'friends to more' will adore Impending Strike!

I thoroughly enjoyed Impending Strike where Lynette Eason introduces author Sami A. Abrams! This is the first book I've read from the Elite Guardians Collection. It can totally be read as a standalone story, but I am sure it's very enjoyable to read as part of the whole series. A unique take on an agency of bodyguards (Elite Guardians), who are mostly women as well as one man. I love the collective group of guardians and their families. I am definitely going to have to go back and read each of their stories!

This story focuses on partners Elite Guardian Lizzie Tremaine and fellow Elite Guardian Charlie Lee. Charlie is attacked while under cover and when he wakes up he can't remember the last four years. They are racing the clock to solve the mystery of what he learned undercover. I loved the action, suspense, and the fun banter between Charlie and Lizzie. Both characters are dealing with past trauma and do they really believe that "God is in control, and I have to trust Him"?

If you like romantic suspense and wonderful character growth you will love Impending Strike by Sami A. Abrams

Impending Strike by Lynette Eason and Sami A. Abrams continues the Eason’s Elite Guardian series. In true Eason fashion, Abrams has crafted a novel that has plenty of twists and turns and surprise moments for the heroine and hero, which I LOVE in my suspense novels. I need plenty of action and moments where I believe the characters are going to have something bad happen to them. Being a romantic suspense novel, there is going to be some romance between the main character of Lizzie and Charlie. The romance does take a roller coaster ride through their budding emotions. Being one of the first novels that Abrams has written, this was a fabulous story to fit into the romantic suspense genre. One of my favorite aspects of a suspense novel is the background or what the characters bring to the table when the story starts. Abram does a wonderful job at crafting believable backgrounds for the characters and uses those hurts and flaws to deepen her characters. Abrams definitely had a fabulous mentor through Lynette Eason and Sunrise Publishing. Overall, Impending Strike by Sami A. Abrams is a suspenseful novel worthy of the challenge of the genre with characters with depth and an overarching love story willing to keep any romantic suspense fan happy.

Impending Strike starts off at a strong pace and the events with Charlie definitely had me hooked from the beginning. I came into this book having never read the other Elite Guardian novels, but I was able to catch on quickly and never felt like I was lost. I really love friends-to-more romance and immediately knew that Lizzie and Charlie needed to get together. I liked the dynamic between them both when Charlie had amnesia and when his memories returned. Their hold-ups felt authentic and believable as well as the way things played out. I thought it was cool how there were a couple of snippets from the villain's perspective and I enjoyed trying to predict who the villain truly was.
This was an entertaining romantic suspense novel with a good balance between the suspense and action as well as the romance. There are some Christian themes throughout, but nothing that was preachy; it felt natural for the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed the latest foray into Lynette Eason's Elite Guardians Collection by Sami A. Abrams, Impending Strike. The Elite Guardians team has many strong female characters; this time, we get to step into Lizzie Tremaine's life. She is assigned to be fellow team member Charlie Lee's bodyguard. (The backstory is that they are close friends, and each of them is thinking how wonderful things would be if they could be closer. But--there are reasons that neither will speak of, that keep them from that step.)

In a moment with an unforeseen consequence, Charlie, who's working undercover, is severely injured. But the danger is still out there, and no one can figure out who's the bad guy. Clearly, those involved in the drug trade are not to be trusted. At the edges of Charlie's memory, there is something he can't quite pin down...and it might be something that will have horrible results if it can't be stopped.

And still, between Charlie and Lizzie, there is that chemistry and connection that's evident to others; but there's also deep pain in their pasts that would have to be overcome before they can act on it. Before the unthinkable happens, will they be able to do so?

Abrams' characters are fantastic. It's always great to see the Elite Guardians team members that we know from other books; and it's incredibly fun to dive into Lizzie's and Charlie's personalities and backstories. I also love how Abrams flips the bodyguard story around; this time, it's a (highly skilled and effective) woman protecting a man! Impending Strike is a lovely suspense/thriller/romantic tale. I think you'll love it!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I was looking forward to getting to know Charlie and Lizzie better after reading book one. Their story is one of constant action.

It's clear from the start that both Charlie and Lizzie have a lot in their past to overcome. Charlie, working undercover starts getting himself into a lot of trouble. I would say it "felt" like something bad happened to this guy constantly and that's because it does! He can't escape people trying to take his life. Lizzie is supposed to keep him safe, but somehow the bad guys keep getting close to him.

There's a lot of action, and sometimes it seems like Lizzie is blamed for things she has no control over because she's done her due diligence along with Charlie as her back-up. I was actually getting irritated with the characters because Olivia, Charlie's sister, and Lizzie were both blaming her for things she couldn't have anticipated.

I liked the Guardians all working together to help solve all of the crimes happening. I like keeping connected to all of the characters through each story because it makes me feel more invested in the team.

I was surprised at the ending and actually wouldn't have been able to connect the dots without events that happened to "out" the person. I always love when an author keeps you guessing! Both characters have to work through a crisis of faith to find healing.

Best-selling author Lynette Eason and debut author Sami A. Abrams continue the romantic suspense series featuring female bodyguards, originally written by Eason.

In Impending Strike, single mom and Elite Guardian Lizzie Tremaine excels at guarding her heart and her clients. When fellow Guardian Charlie Lee – the only male Elite Guardian employee – is injured while undercover. He suffers memory loss for the last 4 years, Lizzie is tasked with helping him. As Charlie recovers his memories, it puts both of them in danger. Can she protect her heart while keeping him safe and helping him uncover who attacked him and why?

Teaming up with Eason to present the second book in the Elite Guardians Collection, Abrams recreates the action-packed world, filled with relatable characters, faith elements, and twisting plot twists galore! Violence in the story is appropriate but not graphic. The clean romance develops at a realistic pace. The banter between Charlie and Lizzie is delightful as they navigate from friends to more than that, all the while trying to stay safe and uncover the bad guys.

Impending Strike captures the reader’s attention from the first sentence, holding it fast until the thrilling conclusion. Themes of faith, trust, and hope permeate the story. Readers will welcome cameos from the original Elite Guardians series.

Elite Guardians Collection will be of interest to those who read books by Lynn Blackburn, and Irene Hannon. Recommended for adult collections in public libraries. Book 3, Defending Honor, is due October 2022.

Series: Elite Guardians Collection, #2
Format: Audiobook from Audible
Narrator: Bethanne Reid (not a fave - overdone)

Book #107 of 2024: I’m a fan of the original Elite Guardians series. This second round is falling flat for me, sorry. I had a hard time focusing on this book. I didn’t feel connected or immersed except for a few personal scenes.

There are many assumptions and misunderstandings. It all felt like too much for me. Sometimes it was as though it was a race to who had it harder in life and would win the “closed off” contest, so to speak. I do have the third audiobook from when I bought this one. However, I don’t see myself progressing beyond this series into the third round.

More balance would have helped. It felt as though we were jumping from one crisis to another almost constantly. The solid moments in this book came from the rare quiet times. The epilogue was also really nice and fitting.

Fans of Lynette Eason's Elite Guardian series will know Charlie and Lizzie as two supporting characters with a lot of mystery and banter between them that pointed to something more but was never seen. Now, finally, we get to see Charlie and Lizzie as the focus in their own story and we are not disappointed.

There is danger, suspense, tangible chemistry between the partners, but also so much more. Lizzie is a strong and independent single parent, with so much loss in her past, who had to learn to trust in happy endings again and that God has more planned for her. Charlie, oh, such a rough and strong guy, but readers got a glimpse of the true Charlie hidden within during his amnesia.

The author did a great job with the voice of all the beloved characters Lynette Eason created, making me feel I am right back at EG. I was also surprised with a lot of twists and events which made me fear for the characters.

Fans of romantic suspense and Lynette Eason will not be disappointed with this story.

Impending Strike is an absolutely great read! Lizzie Tremaine and Charlie Lee of Elite Guardians Agency find themselves pitted against a ruthless killer that wants Charlie dead! This book is fast paced and edge of your seat suspense at it’s finest! The characters are well written and realistic. From the beginning of the book I was pulled into the story and didn’t want to stop reading! There is a perfect blend of suspense, fear, hope, faith and romance throughout the storyline. I highly recommend this book!

I’ve recently discovered that I really like suspense novels, and this one did not disappoint! Add in a little romance and it is the cherry on top for me.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, both wondering if the “bad guys” will get caught, and wondering if the “good” guy gets the girl!

Lizzie and Charlie both have pasts that have left them with some scars and mental struggles they need to overcome. I loved that the author discussed depression and anxiety in a healthy way. The stories of both characters are definitely relatable.

I also loved the cameos from some of my favorite Elite Guardians characters! I can’t wait for more books in this series.

Impending Strike is well executed. I enjoyed the characters, Charlie and Lizzie. They worked well together and their romance had all the tenderness you’d want to see in a story. And the mystery was fantastic. I had no idea who the bad guy was until the big reveal, and that rarely happens. So kudos for keeping a great secret. There’s a lot of action and a satisfying conclusion. What more could you want? Abrams did a bang-up job and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. So intense and absolutely perfect, y'all!!
This is one of my favorite quotes in this book!!
Here's my review!

5 stars for this fabulous, intensely paced book! It isn't often I find a book that has no content issues at all, but this is one of those few gems!

Sami Abrams and Lynette Eason have woven a tale of friendship, protection, family and forgiveness that is exceptionally great!

These books don't have to read in order, but if you do, you won't get juicy spoilers.

This particular book is Lizzie Tremaine's story. Lizzie is a fiercely protective single mom, and she's an epic Elite Guardians bodyguard.

Charlie Lee is the sole male bodyguard in the Guardians agency. Funny, likeable and daring, he specializes in undercover work on the local drug scene.

I received a e-book copy of Impending Strike from the authors and publisher for my honest opinion, as part of The Elite Guardians Launch Team.
Thank y'all for this wonderful e-book!

A few years ago I became a fan of Christian Romance Suspense books. The Suspense genre was never on my radar, I don't even like Mystery Movies until I read a Christian Suspense novel and I was hooked. I was recently given the opportunity to read the Elite Guardians Collection featuring Lynette Eason and various other authors. Impending Strike by Lynette Eason and Sami A. Abrams which is Book 2 in the Collection was the one that I chose to share my thoughts on.

Charlie Lee is an Elite Guardian and he really wants to be in a relationship with Guardian Lizzie Tremaine. Lizzie is a Single Mom and wants to concentrate on raising her daughter and her career. Lizzie also feels being in a relationship with a Co-Worker isn't the best professional decision. Lizzie also has been hurt in past relationships and she is guarding her heart in future relationships. Charlie is injured on the job and loses all memory from the past 4yrs. Lizzie steps in and helps Charlie as he recovers from his injuries. She is acting as his Bodyguard, but she is also to help him with the memory loss. Charlie slowly begins to recall the last 4yrs, including remembering who attacked him. Lizzie finds herself letting her heart open up to Charlie and the flirtatiousness. Will Charlie recover from his memory loss? Will there be a relationship between Lizzie and Charlie?

I think I have found the BEST Christian Romance Suspense series EVER! I was captivated by this storyline from the very first chapter. I finished this book within 3hrs as it was soo good and with the many twists and turns, I just knew I had to finish it in one sitting! Lizzie is a wonderful woman who has priorities in her life, especially as a Single Mom. Charlie LOVES his job and he also realizes his feelings for his Work Partner, Lizzie. I LOVE how the author slowly advances this working relationship into a Romantic Relationship. The author really brings Faith and Christianity into the book in a wonderful way, especially highlighting Lizzie's faith in God with Scripture. Lizzie realizing she has to trust God with finding her a "Mate" is a tear-jerking part of the book. I HIGHLY recommend this book and the Series to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance Suspense novels. OUTSTANDING BOOK!
