God is the only One who gets to identify who we are. Emma Mae breaks down thirty labels that women of God struggle with―either because we think we deserve the “bad” labels or don’t know how to embrace the “good” ones. This book helps you understand that God knows who you You are talented and inspiring and brave; you possess both confidence and tenderness; you are protected and gentle and amazing. Interactive elements guide readers to embrace their value and place as a woman of God.
I think this is an incredible study and Emma Mae and DaySpring did an amazing job putting it all together. I used this as a devotional, but I’m hoping in the future at some point to use it to lead a Bible study! So many girls (and guys) don’t know who they are, and this book takes you through 30 chapters explaining who you are in Christ and that your identity is found in Christ in great detail. I love the barcodes and the podcasts Emma had to go along with certain chapters and how the verses she chose flowed perfectly with the concept of the chapter. My favorite thing Emma Mae has done for sure!
I loved Emma's sweet words of wisdom and advice woven into this lovely devotional! Full of truth and charming stories, I also appreciated the areas for written reflection. Emma explains that our identity is in Christ and who He says we are. I would recommend this to any teenage girl as an encouraging devotional! Such a precious read.
I used this book as a devotional, and while it was good, it wasn’t my favourite devotional. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: I loved that she used multiple different verses per devo; this encouraged learning my Bible better, getting bits of the OT and NT, and focusing in on verses I hear often but skim over. It was also beautiful with the different photos. And I liked that she included different exercises throughout, such as doodling, writing, and making a list. This encourages readers to add some creativity to their Bible study and the different approaches will speak to many different readers.
Cons: I found this pretty surface level. The devotionals were pretty basic and I don’t think I walked away from this feeling any more knowledgeable about God or the Word. I like devotionals that aren’t fluffy and surface level, but that are thought provoking and make me understand God or the Bible in new/different ways. Unfortunately, this devotional didn’t do that for me. It felt like the basic evangelical guide to Christianity that didn’t really get deep: for example, a lot of the take aways were “don’t be insecure”, “you are valuable”, and “you are capable”. While these are all true and nice, I just felt pretty basic. I also didn’t love that a few of her devotionals required me to listen to her podcast. I ended up listening to one and then skipping the rest because it wasn’t my thing.
This would be a good devotional for a young girl, or a new Christian who is just starting out with reading the Bible. I would not recommend this for more mature Christians looking to expand their understanding of scripture and theology. Every devotional has a place and has value in God’s Kingdom! Emma Mae’s devotional is lovely, but it’s just not for me.
Loved this devotional. Read one each day and felt super encouraged in my faith. The “you are” theme of the devotional was very fitting and personalized. I really loved the conversations on joy, influence, and to keep going despite how hard life may be at times and remembering that we are living our lives ultimately for God.
I think this is very good for young teen girls or new believers! It is very easy to understand! I had a hard time doing it every day, but I think that’s just because of personal preferences. I would definitely recommend if your looking for a gift for a young girl or if you want a reminder of the basics about who you are in the eyes of Christ!
I loved this book! Emma has so much wisdom and did an awesome job writing it! I didn't realize it was kind of set up like a devotional, so I want to go back and do all the activities, but I really liked it
I love Emma Mae, so I was very excited to read this. Some devotions can just be kinda surface with the scripture, but i love how she uses so much scripture, and asks deep questions! Also the challenges and drawing prompts were quite fun🥰
