😐 NOT Irish enough

Love her other works. However, I wish this had more to do with irish-specific practices and less to do with common, universal practices.

If it has anything to do with pagan spirituality Mari Silva has apparently written a book about it (and even some about Buddhism and Judaism). After reading several of her books I am beginning to understand that the way she has had time to write so very many books is by keeping them general and pretty short. At least the ones I've read have been pretty short and, like others, this one is very high-level and general. I don't mind introductory books or short books, so that's ok. My problem is that the titles always sound like the books will be extremely comprehensive, which they are not. I don't appreciate it when marketing over-hypes a book. I also have a big problem with typos and this book has them. The typos didn't interfere with any information and seemed like the type you get when you tell spell check to just change everything at once rather than taking the time to evaluate every suggestion. Nevertheless, it makes me feel like an author is ok with wasting my time when they don't bother to clean up typos. Taking me for granted as a reader is extremely irritating.

First part was fine and then it turned into a book on Wicca????

Most of what was discussed was general paganism and wasn’t specific to Ireland. (Except of course the chapters on old Irish folklore and mythology)

I’ve read a few books on Irish paganism and witchcraft and felt I like I didn’t learn any additional information by reading this book.

Almost entirely about universal pagan practices. As much welsh as there is Irish, when this is supposed to be Irish exclusive. Apparently, she has other books on other spiritual practices as well, so how dedicated is she really to the Irish practice? It’s giving google search a random pagan branch and make a quick book on its most vague topics. Also, she needs an editor. The amount of grammatical errors in this was wild. It’s written like a middle schooler, and the fact she states what is going on to be discussed at the beginning of each chapter and has a conclusion paragraph at the end of each, tells me her literary skills haven’t progressed past 8th grade.

The Irish Paganism Is an interesting book, full of lots of history, and religious beliefs from centuries gone by. Many of the Celtic beliefs are being revived by people seeking their own heritage.
