Another Small Town. Another Big Murder.

I’m Alice, a thirty-something ex-bodyguard, and DNA tests are the Devil. My brother Charlie took one, and it turns out he’s only my half-brother. Our parents aren’t around to explain things, but Charlie tracked down his real father, in the fancy-pants spa town the hill over. Charlie’s father is loaded. Or he was until someone killed him.

Now Charlie, high off helping me solve a murder last month, has decided he’s going to find his father’s killer. I’m not sure if it’s pride, or delusion, or… No, that’s not fair. Charlie cares. This hurt him. Bad. I’m going to have to solve this murder—and fast—before his rich new relatives eat him alive.

This is another big mystery adventure that I just loved. This is book three in the series and after the last book where Charlie finds out his father isn't who he thinks, this book continues and Charlie gets to meet his new family, so although not necessary to read the books in order it does help with continuity and because they are a lot of fun. The mystery was good and I was still guessing who the killer was right up to the end. I loved the fun the author has with the robo dogs and the situations Alice kept finding herself in. The characters are also a lot of fun and a big reason why I like this series so much. Alice might be a disgrace to her profession but I think she makes for a more than capable private investigator. Charlie is also a feel good character and always sees the best in people, if only the rest of us could be more like him. But the author doesn't stop there she also provides a murder mystery game that you can play with your friends at the end of the book and continue on with the fun while you wait for the next book.
Alice's brother Charlie has hit it big in the father department. His real father Adan is a tech business man who opens up not only his arms but also his home to his newly found son. Alice's isn't to sure how to feel, as she doesn't want things to change between them but when Adan is found dead she is right by her brothers side. His new family want him gone but Charlie just wants to find his killer. Alice wants to keep him alive. Could one of his new family be responsible? And if so what Does that mean for Charlie when the new family controls half the town with there robotic dogs? And what happens when they go wild? Can Alice find the killer and keep her brother alive? As an ex bodyguard she has things under control but as a p.I maybe not and as a big sister not even close.

This is the third installment in the Big Murder Mystery series. In this story, which can be read as a standalone story, Charlie has been living in his biological father’s home for a month or so. He has two other siblings, Arystarch and Adalina.

Alice and Charlie find, Adan Levann, Charlie’s biological father dead in Charlie’s room. The mystery begins here. Our players are: his two new sibblings, the ex-wife, Gina, tge current wife, Holli, Jameel, Adan’s partner, Shelley, the butler, and John O’reilly, Adan’s friend and lawyer.

I liked this story better than the other two. I was happy that Gert had a minor role in this story. The story takes place mostly in Hot Springs. It involves robot dogs, defense contracts, and money.

Charlie becomes the prime suspect and hires Fitch Rhodes, a PI, and his sister, Alice to investigate. We learn a lot about the Levann family. The children are basically spoiled and think everyone is after their money. Holli likes Charlie and wants him to stay at the house even though Adan has died.

I liked the twists, turns and surprises. I hope we learn more about Addy, Ary, and Shelley in future episodes. I would like to see how the will is resolved and distributed.

I recommend this book.

Being the supportive big sister, Alice is coming to an appointment with Charlie and his recently discovered father in the Town of Hot Springs. A meeting that never happened, because once again, Alice discovers a body, and the dead man is Charlie's father.

What follows includes not only learning about the deceased, but also getting to "meet" the whole family and learn a lot of strange quirks about the Town of Hot Springs. Unfortunately not much of it is anything good. Robot dogs, who attack only Alice, stolen jewelry, attempted murder, and more await in this terrific murder mystery with a robotic side theme. Excitement to the very end, and over way too soon, I chuckled, worried, and wondered how things would turn out.

I love the city of Nowhere, Nevada and love the silliness involved. The Town of Hot Springs (the rich rival of Nowhere) was also hilarious. Robot police dogs, Gucci suit wearing detectives, a jail with a menu of a 5 star restaurant and accommodations of an exclusive hotel, and more made it surreal. Wonderful characters that keep you guessing and surprises along the way made it fun to read. I am ready for another visit to Nowhere and continue the adventures with Alice and Charlie!

Alice"s brother Charlie just found his true father through a DNA test and has begun a budding relationship with his mega rich tech entrepreneur dad. Then dad turns up dead.
All the potential suspects seem to be new found family members so Charlie asks sis Alice, former bodyguard, and her now employer PI Fitch to help him both clear himself and solve the crime. But watch out, someone is hiding something and they're using robot dogs to make the point to butt out. Yes, robot dogs.

3rd book in the big murder mystery series
Although this was book three and I had not read the first two I was able to jump right in and follow along on this wild ride. Alice is a fun and believable character. I loved the scenes of dog attacks where Alice has to think fast... especially at the Santa village at the mall... hilarious. I also love that Alice is dedicated to doing the best she can for family and clients alike. I plan to search out the others in this series as well as continue on with future releases.

Another winner in the Big Murder Mystery series

Alice Sommerland is still persona non grata in the personal protction field. She is doing contract work for PI Fitch Rhodes and dealing with the knowledge that Charlie is only her half brother. Add in the fact that his biological dad is rich and you have the makings of the third Small Town murder mystery.
Charlie's new dad wants to get to know Alice better and Charlie wants to show off his new digs at the Levann mansion but when they get there they find Adan dead. There ensues an investigation into the murder and also into the issues surrouning Adan's company Rover that makes among other things Robot dogs.
As usual more mayhem follows Alice and Charlie as they search for the killer. A very good read and the characters are becoming stronger all the time. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Who Killed Charlie's Dad ? . . .

Alice is an ex-bodyguard and often becomes a private investigator. Her brother, Charlie, found his birth father through a DNA test. Adan Levann is extremely wealthy, but he accepted Charliel into his life and had him move in with him. Then one day, Charlie found his father dead, face down on the carpet, blood trickling from behind his ear!

Charlie is determined to find his father’s killer. So Alice steps up to help him solve the murder because the relatives he doesn’t even know yet can cause him loads of grief if they don’t find the real killer responsible for this. They could even point to Charlie as the killer! Will Alice find the clues she needs? Can she find the one who murdered Adan?

This is a cute cozy mystery with likable characters and a story line that flows well to keep the reader entertained while trying to figure out the mystery. Who would have the most to gain by this murder? Grab your copy and find the answer!

Our heroine's brother turns out to only be a half-brother, but that's not the worst of it. His real dad has been murdered and now he needs to solve the murder before his new relatives do him in. Our heroine is going to have her hands full this time.

This is book three of the series, but it works just fine as a standalone. Feel free to start at any time.

This is a cozy mystery with a tough female lead. The story is well written, easy to read and just plain fun. It features a well developed setting and wonderful characters that bring the story to life. I really liked our heroine who is smart and resourceful. We also get a solid mystery and a nice amount of humor to keep things light. Overall, it was a wonderful story and I look forward to more in this series.

Highly recommended.

Charlie is working for a PI, but her life is definitely not back in order. She lusts after her new boss. She's really a contractor, so it's not that bad, is it? She and her brother are getting to know each other again, even though he's now met his real father. But of course, things can't stay good, or even ok, for them.

The story is good. I haven't tried the murder mystery game at the end. I'm waiting to read it with friends on a rainy day.

My issue with this series, and I've realized, most of Weiss' books is that she really doesn't like old women. She writes them all as bullies and as an old woman myself, I find it annoying enough to take me out of enjoying the story.

Alice is more than a little torn when she discovers her brother Charlie did a dna test, and he has a different biological father.

Since the parents who raised them both are deceased, there is little info about what happened between their mother and the biological father to Charlie.

Can Alice and Charlie work past the related issues, as well as the lethal threats?

Discovering the many meanings of family.

I love that Alice is settling into her life in Nowhere and Charlie is really joining in. The robot dogs were a fun thing that you don't see in other mysteries. There's a lot of sexual tension that STILL hasn't been resolved, so I'm definitely ready for book 4 to see if that gets going. I'm also interested to see if Charlie's new family joins the fun in the next book.

Allow a complete day for this PG cozy mystery set in Nevada, mostly in the feuding towns of Nowhere (with the BIGGEST of just about everything) and THE TOWN OF HOT SPRINGS (which wishes to start a museum with the smallest of everything), where protection and surveillance specialist Alice Sommerland is struggling to get by. Not suitable for reading in public due to chortles and guffaws.

This one was more interesting as we see Alice, Charlie and Fitch go to The Town of Hot Springs. So we see a bit new parts of that world and new characters while still meeting some of the regulars.
It felt like a big development in character for Alice. I’m curious to see how it will continue - if it continues.
One annoying thing though: spelling. I’m m not a native English speaker but even I stumbled over a misspelling or missing word every other day. It’s a true shame.

I think Big Bucks might be my favorite Kristen Weiss book, and that’s saying a lot because I love her books. It’s funny and a page turner. I find Alice very relatable. She’s funny, a clutz, loyal, and smart. I like that Alice figures out the murderer and doesn’t just happen upon them. I think all the characters are cute and funny. I’m loving this series!

I truly had no expectations for this is the first storyI have read from Kirsten. It truly was enjoyable to read. The only thing that I would be careful to read the first story before you read this because I was lost there for a minute. Enjoy reading this story.
