Shortly after, a prisoner from the only hard labor camp in the System, escapes with disastrous results. It is a race against time to stop him. With the help of the Hatayan Military, they wage an assault on Thozen Orekran and his followers. I recently read Halcyon: The Chronicles of the Great Galactic War by Cara Arlene Bolton, and I found it to be an interesting mix of science fiction, space adventure, and military action. The story takes place in the peaceful Belnine System, where life has been calm for a long time. That peace begins to fall apart after a dangerous prisoner escapes and starts a chain of events that could lead to a much larger conflict.
One of the things I enjoyed about this book was how it combines a galactic storyline with events happening on Earth. Princess Yuelene and Commander Raric Mizel are strong central characters, and their journey to Earth to seek help adds a unique twist to the story. I liked seeing how their world connects with our own, especially when they meet military officers from the United States Coast Guard and other branches of the armed forces. This teamwork between people from different planets and backgrounds makes the story feel exciting and unpredictable.
