There’s a fine line between impulsive and just plain reckless.
I put that to the test when I ended up in the right place at the right time. Or maybe it’s the opposite? I walked straight into a dangerous situation between two mafia rivals because who better to handle the situation than a twenty year old waitress with no experience? You think I would’ve learned my lesson. But who can resist icy blue eyes and accents? I thought I could, until the devilishly good looking Russian mobster reappeared in my life and swept me off my feet.
He’s supposed to be the bad guy, but I can’t seem to stay away. I must be a glutton for his particular brand of punishment. He steals my breath away with one look, can I learn to hold my own against him without losing who I am in the process… or will I be swept away in the current? Now I need to decide whether his affection is worth being a little reckless
A.F. Montoya is a daydreamer turned writer who writes contemporary mafia romances. She’s been reading romance novels since her mother bought her one as a joke when she was a teen and now writes them and shares them with her mother, much to her chagrin. She enjoys reading in her spare time and supporting other authors. When she isn’t writing or thinking about new book ideas she is supporting her husband and kids.
All the characters feel one dimensional and flat. They are caricatures. The roommates also suffer from the annoyingly “over sexed best friends who are obsessed with the fmc losing her virginity” personality. Way too much telling v showing.

This is just what I needed in the moment. Though with that being said, there were a lot of parts that were just cheesy. Which no isn’t a bad thing but it also got too much for me. To anyone who likes a fast paced plot and not really that much angst, like you’ll like this. 🙂
2.5* Too much danger and too many shootouts, not enough actual romance.
Hmm what went wrong with this book? There’s virtually no plot, the characters are weak carbon copies of the first book, with slight variations.
Gabriella meets Dmitriy during a shootout in the restaurant where she works. Fast forward six months and Gabi is struggling with her life. Nightmares from the shooting are plaguing her, and she couldn’t go back to work at a restaurant, as she couldn’t cope with it. So she works for a professor that is really sleazy while she’s studying at college. She’s a carbon copy of Jo in the first book. She has no friends, still a virgin, doesn’t date even though she’s really pretty, struggling to pay her bills. Could the author not write a different character????
Dmitriy is a Russian weapons dealer, (I think.) who comes across as really cold and unfeeling half the time, and a sweet sexy boyfriend at others. Dmitriy has been watching over Gabi since the shooting and has fallen in love with her, even though he knows nothing about her? They start seeing each other, (He comes round to her flat, and sleeps with her!) and they fall in love. Gabi (Unlike Jo in the first book.) isn’t bothered when she finds out her boyfriend is an arms dealer and to be honest he’s not a very likeable character.
Throw in a few more shootouts and that’s the plot! Wtf happened to this book??? The first one was really good, this one is a weak carbon copy, with a Russian instead of an Irish man.
I really really am so glad I found this author couple of days ago. I have just finished this book and I feel amazing; Her words, story, amazing characters and my imagination have created another amazing world (I cannot think of a better word) in my head.
When i first read the first 10 chapters,i felt stopping.josephine is such an immature brat and liam doesnt have enough of the so called mafia-vibes.but the story picks up at the middle and was sustained until the end....for lack of anything to read, this one is definitely a good choice.
Such a great read, I couldn’t put the book down, I loved both characters.
Favourite quote: “You need a better pillow.” “I have one,” I murmured, nuzzling against him. His chuckle reverberated through me. “Good night, малышка.” “Good night, Dmitriy.”
Another awesome read! Again, I laughed so hard in places that I just couldn’t help it! Montoya knows how to bring her characters to life! I loved how attentive and loving Dimetri is and Gabriella is so special that she shines! Loved it! Thanks for the great read!
I really wanted to love this, but it just didn't do it for me. I'm basically a mafia romance CONNOISSEUR and this was basically all the mafia romance tropes that I don't love. It was a fun, easy read but other than that it didn't do much for me.
Nice quick read The roomates were quite funny, and I loved Gabi and Dmitry's dynamic. I like that Gabi is all about action. She is never just standing on the sidelines.
Pretty similar story to the first book in the series, but with a more consistent tone throughout. I thought I’d end up liking this one better, but Dmitriy’s inability to control his anger around Gabriella is a huge turnoff for me, and spanking is only fun if it’s consensual for everyone involved. Montoya still struggles to maintain a consistent verb tense at times, and these mafia guys are only a little less incompetent than Liam’s crew, but overall this story is better told and for the most part is an enjoyable read.
