***This is the Special Edition paperback for The Secret.***

From NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Kristen Proby comes a forbidden romance. The Secret is the first in the Single in Seattle series!

Vaughn is everything I’m supposed to stay away from. Sexy. Cocky. And famous.

Ultra-famous.

I grew up in a family full of wealthy celebrities. My father, Luke Williams, is the celebrity of them all. A superstar actor and producer, my father knows the downside of living in the spotlight. And because of that, he sheltered my siblings and me from everything Hollywood entailed. We didn’t attend premieres. We weren’t photographed. There were no friendships with other celebrities’ children.

The limelight couldn’t touch us.

But now, at twenty-five, I’m ready to start my life, working for my father’s production company in downtown Seattle—until Vaughn Barrymore walks through the door.

He can’t keep his hands off me. He’s completely forbidden, but I can’t help falling for the sweet, complicated man.
When—and it’s when not if— my family finds out that I’ve been keeping this secret, will I have to choose between the man I love and those who mean the most to me? Or, by some miracle, can I have both?

What a wonderful start to this With Me In Seattle second generation spin off. The Secret, the first of the Single in Seattle series, captures everything that I loved about the original and Kristen Proby’s swoony, romantic writing.

The Secret gives us the story of Vaught and Olivia (daughter of Luke and Natalie), the actor and costume designer that meet after Vaughn gives Natalie the run around on his costume fitting . Luke is the quintessential movie star, at least on the surface, and Olivia fortunately isn’t the type to be pushed around, and in standing up for herself she catches the arrogant actor’s interest- and soon sparks fly as these seemingly opposing forces of personality collide.

Olivia is a firecracker, and I loved her. She’s a hard and devoted career woman, clever and sassy. She’s determined to earn her way, and she doesn’t tolerate less than she deserves. And Vaughn is just everything you’d imagine a Hollywood hotshot would be- fame obsessed, selfish, and so arrogant…until Olivia helps him tap into more of himself. She challenges him, and a steamy relationship develops into something more. But Vaughn’s fame is not something that’s easy to escape, and that complicates their burgeoning connection.

This story is a lot of fun, fast paced, and super sexy. We have some great cameos for Proby fans, and plenty of excitement is built for this new series. Excited for this second generation world- and that Proby decided to bring them to the page!

5 ‘Worth It’ Stars

Well, hot d@mn… Tantalizingly romantic, passionate and heartwarming, The Secret brought me back to my very first Kristen Proby love, Come Away With Me, and it had nothing – okay, maybe a little, lol – to do with Liv’s parents per se, though we see plenty of them *happy sigh*, and all with to do with The Secret’s vibe of the original and classic KP brand of sweet and sexy romance.

All that warm fuzzies I felt while discovering Ms. Proby’s brilliant writing, many years ago, I felt in this one, with the added embellishment of an even more refined and expressive story telling. Olivia and Vaughn’s tale is their own, 100%, but I loved the parallel set between theirs, and her parents’ romance, and its hardships, so that her parents could advice and show their wisdom. And talking about wisdom, wow, Vaughn surprised and went straight up there to the top book boyfriends, with his words and actions. Swoon fest all the way! Of course adored, not only all of that, but my beloved ever present family dynamic, Montgomery staple of friendship and support. How can you not love this gang?!

The Secret truly surpassed all my expectation, and I couldn’t be happier about it, as it set the perfect tone for this Spin off series. Single In Seattle, with Liv and Vaughn’s fantastic and captivating love story, went straight to my all time favorites, so much so I’m already dying to see which Montgomery will fall next! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

No one’s ever been this important.
This damn vital.
And she’s all mine.

The Single in Seattle Series is off to a great start. I loved the first generation so I was super eager to read this new series about their offspring who are all grown up.

I loved Olivia and Vaughn. Their enemies to lovers story was filled with the perfect mix of salty and sweet. There wasn’t a lot of drama, just Olivia figuring out if she and Vaughn could work. I loved that Luke and Natalie were present as well as other family members, and that we got to really know some of the cousins. It felt like going home!!

What I will say is that Kristen Proby makes me happy. She takes your mind away from reality and makes wonderful, sweet, beautiful romance stories and The Secret is the perfect read to sweep you off your feet.

It was meh.. no real connection or getting to know each other. Just sex and insta-love.
Olivia was also annoying. The “my dad sheltered us” excuse doesn’t really apply anymore when you’re an adult with access to internet and common sense. Just say it like it is: you lack empathy, don’t show interest in anything/anybody outside your bubble and then get irritated when reality hits cause of the privileged way you grew up.
Also, Liv not wanting to acknowledge/admit that she had a privileged background (cause she “worked hard”) was a big turn off.

Vaughn could’ve been way more fleshed out. He comes from a legacy and we barely scratch the surface on that.

If you are a fan of the With Me In Seattle series then brace yourselves, the next generation are here!

Olivia is the daughter of Luke and Natalie. She lives with three of her cousins and works as a costume designer for her dad’s production company. She is very talented at creating incredible designs and loves her busy but fun career. She meets so many different Hollywood actors and for the most part they are all pretty friendly. However, when she meets movie star Vaughn she is reminded of why she will never date an actor.

Firstly, he stands her up for his costume fitting and when he does appear the next day he is full of arrogance and indifference towards her. Olivia does not put up with anyone treating her the way Vaughn does and swiftly puts him in his place. Vaughn has never been more turned on or enamoured by a woman and his instincts tell him to kiss her. So he does and that’s just the beginning of a night they will never forget.

Olivia is surprised by her reaction to Vaughn, she has just broken one of her dating rules of never sleeping with an actor. Well this was a one time thing and she won’t be doing it again. Vaughn is not on board with this way of thinking and to be fair, neither of them can stop thinking about each other. Before too long these two have fallen into a very intense, sexually charged relationship. And they love it.

Olivia is fully aware that she probably needs to come clean with her parents, especially her dad. She knows how hard he worked at keeping her and her siblings out of the public eye, protecting his family's privacy. He never wanted them to be followed by the paps and it has been important to him that they have a sense of normalcy, away from Hollywood.

Olivia soon finds out why her father was so protective of them when she gets her own taste of the paps and it has her second guessing if she should even be with a man like Vaughn. He on the other hand is used to living like this but just because he is not fazed by it, should he expect a woman he truly cares about to accept it. He really has some soul searching to do if he wants to hang on the woman who has never made him feel so alive.

I had so much fun reading this story and loved all the cameos from Olivia’s extended family. I love how close they all are and how they all support each other through the ups and downs. Great start to this new series!

Kristen Proby is such a swoony writer. I feel like I always get those feelings of butterflies and heart flutters. This is a second generation spin off and even though I haven’t read the originals, I didn’t miss a thing! Vaughn and Olivia were pure FIRE! This was enemies to lovers in the best way. Fire & ice. Super sexy. Angst level was perfect!! A Hollywood hot shot and a costume designer—yes please!

I had the pleasure of sensitivity reading this story because of the amazing diverse secondary characters. It absolutely thrills me when I can have a part in adding diversity and inclusion into stories. I fell in love with Kelly, Jamal and baby girl Paisley!! Love the author. Love the story. Love the romance.

I was really excited for this book, not just because I'm a huge fan of the original series but also because the second I read the blurb I wanted to get my hands on the story. And while I did enjoy the overall plot, I can't say I fell in love with this one as much as I thought I would.

Olivia was a big reason for that and by the end of the book I still wasn't a huge fan of hers. I liked that she knew her worth and stood up for herself. I also enjoyed that she was someone that wanted to earn their place on their own and not with family connections. But sometimes she seemed to overreact and blow up at things in a way that I didn't like. It painted her in an immature light for me and it was hard to get past that. Especially near the end when she decided to blame Vaughn basically for being famous as if she didn't know that to begin with. I get that she was sheltered from the limelight and didn't see the worst of it but it felt like another one of her overreactions to me and I just wasn't a fan of it.

More than that, the relationship felt very rushed between Vaughn and Olivia. I did like a lot of what I saw with them and it made this book a fun read. But there almost wasn't enough to show a true connection between their characters. Overall, I still enjoyed reading this book and I liked catching up with original characters as well as seeing their kids grown up. And I'm excited to see where the next book will take us.

The Secret is taking us back to some of our favorite characters and places as we spin off on the children from the with me in Seattle series. This is Olivia's tale; she is a costume designer her parents are Luke Williams and Natalie. Her father the actor has done his best over the years to keep his family out of the limelight. Now as Oliva begins to make her own name in the business she is thrust into fame and headlines as a A list movie star begins to pursue her.
Vaughn Barrymore and his family have always been in the public eye, and he has accepted it, but it never gets easy. When he meets the designer for his new film, he lays on the charm, but she is sassy, outspoken and will not fall for his swagger. She calls him out on his indiscretions. holds him accountable for his actions and doesn't fall at his feet. This couple was funny, sexy and had smart witty banter charged with chemistry! I also loved traveling back to see all of my favorite characters from oh so many books ago. We are off to a great start with this new series.

They are so refreshing to read. They are fun, easy, pleasant stories with little to no angst and very little drama. Sometimes, that is just what I need. Olivia wants to keep their union a secret ... and he falls fast for her.

I did enjoy Olivia and Vaughan’s story. It was sweet. Not drawn out getting to know you chapters or drama, etc. I loved that. They were easy characters to like. Their storyline was interesting and entertaining. The writing was good and easy to read as well.

**Instant chemistry
**Movie star and costume designer

I read the original series and loved it but after that wasn't able to connect with any of the author's other work so as we were going back to the original couple by next generation I thought I'd give it a go.
They are extremely insta, no actual relationship just sex.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but see spoilers below.

Plenty of breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series.

Spoiler
He is seen several times in photos with other women but it's not as it's portrayed.
There is other woman drama in form of costar.

HEA.

3 1/2 "New Generation" Stars!

KP is definitely formulaic. But her formula works for me. Very insta, big family, good girlfriends/cousins, super sweet and sexy, low angst. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'm looking forward to seeing this new generation of the Williams and Montgomery clans finding their HEAs. Happy reading!
PS- That second epilogue was just precious. Luke...

When I read a Kristen Proby book I feel like I'm visiting family. The characters that are all connected and the swoony love story always hits the spot. I love being back in Seattle with my extended family. If you've read the With Me in Seattle series, you're going to love the next generation. But don't worry if you're a newbie. I think this book is just perfect on it's own, but you will get a taste of the parents.

The Secret sets up this new series and I'm here for it. The first book focuses on Olivia and Vaughn. Olivia is the daughter of Natalie and Luke. Luke was a big time movie star and he shielded his family from that life. Olivia is now a young woman working in the film industry as a costume designer, but she does not use her dad's name to get ahead. She is talented in her own right. When Vaughn Barrymore walks in for his fitting a day late, Olivia is not a fan. He's a reminder why she will never date an actor. A little hate to love??

But that hate quickly dissipates and they make friends real quick. ;)
Vaughn is intrigued with this talented designer and Olivia likes what she sees when Vaughn lets down his protective walls.

This was a fast paced love story of two different people that were raised in the industry, but in very different families. Olivia comes from a very loving and protective family and they are all around in Seattle. And Vaughn comes from a name, but not from love. His family is dysfunctional. Where Proby excels is creating such a wonderful family environment that's always there to support and have family gatherings with. You feel part of the family. Even when there was drama between these two, it didn't last long with both of their knowledge of the acting industry. I loved that they understood each other and didn't let the little things get in the way.

As for the audio, you gotta love when Erin Mallon takes the helm of the heroine. She made Olivia sexy and funny and your best friend that you want to hang with. And Tim Paige just nailed that Hollywood actor persona in Vaughn.

I'm definitely excited to get more in this world and to be back in Seattle with the gang!

If you're a fan of the With Me In Seattle series then you're going to absolutely love revisiting some favorite characters in this new spin-off series Single in Seattle, all about the next generation from the original series!

This first book in the series is about Olivia the daughter of Luke & Natalie Williams and actor Vaughn Barrymore the son of "Hollywood Royalty". These two couldn't be more opposite but as the old saying goes "Opposites Attract" and they absolutely did like an explosive bomb detonating and I was here for it!!

Olivia is an independent, smart, fiesty, workaholic who wants success based on her abilities and not because of who her father is. Olivia has worked hard to make her dream come true but let her personal life slip through the cracks until......Vaughn.

Vaughn is the arrogant, self-absorbed, cocky actor that has made a name for himself in spite of his parents. Vaughn has never let anyone get to close because all they wanted was his status and fame until he meets the one person who could care less, who wants him for him...... Olivia.

Oh this story, the characters it was like coming home and true to Kristen's writing she did not disappoint, in fact she had me falling head over heels in love with this next generation. I'm so excited for this series and looking forward to the stories that will inevitably consume me and you!

We are back with our favorite families from the With Me in Seattle series! This is Olivia’s story (the daughter of Luke and Natalie from Come Away With Me). Liv is the lead costume designer at her dad’s production company and her love interest, Vaughn is an actor starring in one of her dad’s movies. Liv and Vaughn get off on the wrong foot when he shows up on the wrong day for a costume fitting. They bicker and literally go from kissing to f*cking on his kitchen counter…all before the author even told us what these characters look like.

Liv and Vaughn’s romance was meh. I think what sold this story for me is the nostalgia of being back with a lot of familiar faces from the previous series and seeing the similarities in their kids (Liv lives with 3 of her cousins). We got to see or get an update on all the couples from the last series and that was honestly my favorite part. Other than that, the insta-lust was a no for me and I just needed more development for these characters.

TROPES: actor/famous/celebrity (H); famous family (h); insta-lust/insta-love; family saga/second-generation

Good book. Enjoyable. Some parts were super steamy. But the sex scenes weren't very descriptive which is ok. I just expected more. Tho, I haven't rea a book by this author in awhile so that may be the norm.

The whole secret thing was silly, really and the family was all too perfect but it was a good read nonetheless. Not sure if I'll read the restof the series but who knows. Maybe.

5 star Review of The Secret (Single in Seattle #1) by Kristen Proby

I was excited when I heard about the Single In Seattle series. From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that Kristen Proby wove about Vaughn Barrymore and Olivia Williams. From the moment they met, sparks flew and not in a good way.
Coming from a family who is wealthy, Olivia has been kept out of the spotlight by her famous father. Working for her father’s production company she meets Vaughn, a man she knows she should stay away from.
However the attraction that sizzles between them is impossible to ignore and once the line is crossed there is no holding back. What will happen when her family finds out? The growth of both these characters was heart watching to watch as the story developed.
I really liked both Olivia and Vaughn even though he was a bit of a jerk initially. I liked how feisty and sassy Olivia is and that she is not afraid to stand up to anyone no matter who it is. However complications quickly arise once their relationship comes to light and it made their journey rather rocky.
This was a great start to the Single In Seattle series and I cannot wait to read more.

4.5 Stars!!

The Secret is the first book in the exciting new, Single in Seattle Series. This book is filled with delicious romance, swoon-worthy moments, and just enough drama for any romance lover.

When we first meet up with Vaughn and Olivia things couldn’t have gone worse. To say they got off on the wrong foot would be a complete understatement. But, the one thing they had going for them was some insane chemistry. What started off as an enemies to lovers vibe quickly transformed into an undeniable romance that will leave readers rooting for their happily ever after.

The Secret had its fair share of drama and frustrations, but I loved every moment of it. I loved watching Vaughn and Olivia navigate their way through all the obstacles thrown their way. They had to learn to communicate with one another, not overreact and decide for themselves if their romance was worth fighting for.

Now, if you’ve read Kristen Proby’s With Me In Seattle Series, you will see quite a few familiar faces. I loved reconnecting with all of them and seeing all of the cousins interact with one another. Olivia’s family is amazing and I loved how they looked out for her and always had her back.

In the end, The Secret was just like coming home. I enjoyed everything about this book from beginning to end. Olivia and Vaughn were a force to be reckoned with. They more than delivered on the enemies to lovers/forbidden romance vibe. I couldn’t help but fall head over heels for this story and am really excited to see where this series is going to take us next. Kristen Proby fans, you won’t want to miss The Secret.

I enjoyed Vaughn and Olivia's story. I really loved Vaughn, even though he's supposed to be the hotshot actor. The moment he met Olivia, he's immediately attracted to her. They acted on it but Vaughn's line of work is not going to make it easy for them to protect what her dad has been trying to do her whole life.

I found Olivia to be a little immature and annoying. Like she would ghost him because he made her frustrated. Could you be more annoying? And she didn't just do that once. I don't know why Vaughn can stand her but he's an angel for sacrificing things to make it easy on her so that they can have a relationship.

#strangesummerreading The Secret by Kristen Proby ☀️☀️☀️☀️ I’m so glad she jumped forward and gave us the next generation of the Montgomery/Williams family. When she kept going with the With Me series after the original crew, it just got obnoxious to me, but this new generation is fun and I’m liking the cousins a lot. I read this book on my flight to SF today, and it was quick, cute and enjoyable. I will definitely continue on in this series.

Kristen Proby is back in Seattle with the next generation. I was so excited for this one to come out, especially after reading Seth’s book (a next gen for Big Sky).

The Secret is Olivia’s story (Luke and Natalie’s first from Come Away With Me). I am absolutely obsessed with this book. I love how so much tied in to how she was raised and what we saw in the original series.
Vaughn is everything that Liv needs to stay away from….Heartthrob movie star. But who has so many layers.

I loved everything in this book.
Seeing the original family and couples
The bond that the cousins all have. I love the relationship Olivia and Stella have. It truly mirrors the one their moms have with each other.
The forbidden aspect of Vaughn and Olivia’s relationship.
Touch of enemies to lovers
Huge family dynamic.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all the way

The Secret
Vaughn and Olivia
The first book in a spin-off series to the With Me in Seattle series.

I really liked this story.
It was fun to dive back into this world with the next generation.
Olivia is the oldest child of Luke and Natalie from the book Come Away With Me. Her dad was the hot young heartthrob actor when he was younger. Living in that crazy world of fans, paparazzi, interviews and having no privacy taught him to protect his children from that at all costs. Now at twenty-five, Olivia is an up and coming costume designer working for her dads production company.
Vaughn also grew up with famous acting parents. But had a very different experience with the industry. He started acting young, walked the red carpet with his parents, attended all the fancy parties. He’s used to being in the spotlight. It’s normal for him.
When Vaughn shows up for a fitting with Olivia, they don’t get off to the best start. He’s a day late, cocky, arrogant and condescending. But there is no doubt sparks fly between the two.
I really liked both Vaughn and Olivia. They were well written characters. Vaughn was very patient with Olivia and went out of his way to protect her from his world. Olivia had a quick temper, but took the time to calm down and think things through and could admit when she overreacted. She had a lot of people she could talk things out with.
There were parts of this story that were very similar to Luke and Natalie’s story. Not so much that it was the same story, but enough that you noticed.
I loved seeing all of the babies from the original series all grown up and adulting.
I loved seeing some of the past characters showing up throughout the story.
And I loved that this next generation calls their mothers “the old ladies”. So funny.
It’s told in dual points of view, no cheating, no cliffhanger. And a very happy ending.

Well costume designer, Olivia and actor, Vaugh, get 3 stars but Natalie, Jules, Sam and Will and all of the next generation cousins get 4 stars! So glad to see them again!!! They are from one of my favorite series EVER! - WITH ME IN SEATTLE.

First, Olivia and Vaugh have sex within 48 hours of meeting each other. Sorry! No! Talk about irresponsible. With an Alpha male father like Luke Williams, I was shocked at Olivia's behavior.

Although I liked Vaugh, he was a tad over possessive, and at times I was a little frightened for Olivia.

Now I did love Olivia's career as a costume designer. That was super interesting, especially when she finished sewing herself into one dress while she was wearing it.
And so was Vaugh's cutie pie, 1 year old goddaughter. She called him BON! lol!!!
Can't wait for the next book!

This series is a gift that keeps on giving.

4,5 stars.

I'm addicted to this series since the very beginning, when Luke mistakenly got mad at Natalie and ended up finding what he didn't even know he needed in his life.
And now, all these years later, we get to see their first daughter, Olivia, finding her own happily ever after.

As you can always expect from this author, this book was sweet, funny, easy to read, and had lots of family and friends time.
Vaughn and Olivia's story was adorable. They are sweet and so sexy together, their chemistry is great and their banter is easy and comes naturally.

Their story mirrors Olivia's parents' one, and it was nostalgic and sweet seeing how she deals with her problems and remembering how Luke and Natalie did in their time.
And the bonus: we got to see almost everyone from the good, old times again.
I can't wait for the next books.

I listened to these out of order and I am kinda glad I did.

Vaughn is this super famous actor who is starring in Luke William’s movie. We meet Luke in his book in the With me in Seattle Series.

This book follows his daughter Olivia who has been sheltered from the media and paps most of her life. But now that she is working on the costumes and finding and dating Vaughn she sees just how much her father shielded her from.

There was some dramalama there that I just didn’t buy. I wanted to love this book so hard but parts of it frustrated me.

But that’s ok because the other books in this series I LOVED. So on to the next!

I wanted to love this book as much as I loved Luke and Natalie’s story, but…sigh. My favorite parts of this book - Luke and Natalie! I didn’t feel connected and invested in Olivia and Vaughn. They go from bickering to sleeping together in a blink of an eye and they both act very immature about things throughout the book.

It’s hard to believe Olivia is the same age Natalie was in her book - Olivia comes off more as an adolescent teenager who has a lot of growing up to do. Vaughn is not much better.

I enjoyed the story, but the new generation needs some hard knocks and maturity so we get the same compelling stories their parents had.
