THE SIXTH INSTALLMENT OF THE GRAPHIC NOVEL ADAPTATION OF CASS ANDRA CLARE’S BESTSELLING THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS!

With the Mortal Instruments in his possession, Valentine means to unleash havoc on Shadowhunter and Downworlder alike. Despite this, for many in the Clave, fighting alongside werewolves, faeries, warlocks, and vampires would be as terrible as submitting to Valentine. Clary must convince them that working together—aided by her new rune-creation ability—is their only hope for a future!

Beautifully illustrated by artist Cassandra Jean, this volume also features an original scene of sudden allies sizing each other up, written exclusively for the graphic novel!

Cassandra Clare was born to American parents in Tehran, Iran and spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her family, including one trek through the Himalayas as a toddler where she spent a month living in her father’s backpack. She lived in France, England and Switzerland before she was ten years old.

Since her family moved around so much she found familiarity in books and went everywhere with a book under her arm. She spent her high school years in Los Angeles where she used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including an epic novel called “The Beautiful Cassandra” based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name (and which later inspired her current pen name).

After college, Cassie lived in Los Angeles and New York where she worked at various entertainment magazines and even some rather suspect tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina’s world travels and Britney Spears’ wardrobe malfunctions. She started working on her YA novel, City of Bones, in 2004, inspired by the urban landscape of Manhattan, her favourite city. She turned to writing fantasy fiction full time in 2006 and hopes never to have to write about Paris Hilton again.
Cassie’s first professional writing sale was a short story called “The Girl’s Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord” in a Baen anthology of humor fantasy. Cassie hates working at home alone because she always gets distracted by reality TV shows and the antics of her cats, so she usually sets out to write in local coffee shops and restaurants. She likes to work in the company of her friends, who see that she sticks to her deadlines.

City of Bones was her first novel. Sword Catcher is her most recent novel.

even though i reread The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare last year, every time i pick up the next volume in this graphic novel series, it just makes me want to re-experience the whole thing all over again.

this volume covers the rest of City of Glass and i can never get bored of seeing Cassandra Clare’s characters come to life with Cassandra Jean’s illustrations. I always felt like the third book set everything up for the rest of the series so well so i’m really excited to read the next volumes!!

This was so much fun again. The further along we get in the series, the more fun the graphic novels become I think. With Vol. 6 book 3 in the series gets fully wrapped up. Loved it.

These graphic novels are fairly light reads, but they capture the essence of the shadow hunter world, the storylines and especially the characters really well.

Can't wait for the next Volume and to start the next book in the series. So excited to read book 4-6 in graphic novels as well, but it'll probably take a while yet before that's complete haha.

Definitely recommend this graphic novel series, it's a great addition to read on top of the shadow hunter chronicles novels if you're already familiar with them and if you're not familiar with the novels yet, I think these graphic novels are a great read as well to get acquainted with a new to you fantasy world.

Docking points purely for the fact that Isabelle's brother just died and the first thing on her mind is sleeping with Simon as a distraction??! Using his death as an excuse to get them to hook up is extremely morally reprehensible tbh. There's a time and place and this wasn't neither, the author could've simply waited or changed the plot-line instead of rushing them.
Art is lovely as always!

This one follows the 2nd half of City of Glass. Finally, the sibling nonsense is cleared up!

These are making me feel so nostalgic. I love it.

This was one of the better installments in the graphic novels! I feel like it more accurately depicts the story in comparison to some of the other volumes.

As per usual a great retelling of one of my favourite books.

Cassandra Jean really modernises and refreshes a story that is 13 years old, making such an already vivid story come to life in a whole new way.

I enjoy these graphic novels as they’re always such a quick read, her little quips and doodles giving so much more personality to each character.

I highly recommend these graphic novels for fans of the original series, but if you’ve never read the original series before I recommend doing so before starting on the graphic novels as they tend to miss out on a lot of the nuance and content, taking only the main story beats and characteristics and it lacks a certain aspect of the charm that the original novels hold.
