Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a book lover with a *slight* romance obsession. My books are all steamy romantic fantasy or paranormal romance, and there is always a happily ever after.

I really liked June and related to her a lot, but I'm still struggling with the "and then we spend a few weeks just like this" situation. There isn't much of an overarching plot (maybe Ryder? but we saw him for like 2 sentences in that book so not really), which makes the matings feel somewhat repetitive. Every couple still got its differences though, which I liked.
Ok I think this is where I end the journey in this series. I enjoyed the first four books, but without an overarching plot, I find my engagement with this series has come to an end. Without the overarching plot, and with the entire mating cycle relatively standardized, the romances have become a bit too formulaic to keep me hooked.
This is the fourth book of the Mate Hunt series, and I personally DO NOT CONSIDER this to be a STAND-ALONE read. I HIGHLY recommend these be read in series order, as they contain multiple reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines (begins as soon as the previous one ended), and interwoven themes so a lot of details that occurred previously would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
— If you have not read any of the stories in this series, the following will contain spoilers, but hopefully only enough to adequately explain my opinions, questions, etc. about the story. —
Lola Glass has created an unique origin story for werewolves that resulted in two separate beings in a shared body. When the wolf is in charge the human can see what is happening, but cannot communicate, or control, the animal that will act on instinct. Because of how werewolves evolved, only males are born, so when the wolf finds its mate, the reaction is immediate and that starts a 3 phase ritual: Hunt, Chase and Climax. This is what necessitates the kidnapping of the human female for most of them, as the wolf will not shift back until he marks his chosen mate.
⛔️ There are a couple of potential triggers for sensitive readers, such as adult language, semi-steamy intimate scenes, mental health challenges of depression, anxiety, alcohol and substance dependency, etc., and violence such as domestic abuse against women and children, fighting, threats, assault, etc.
For a PNR especially, I consider these to be really clean. There isn’t any fighting or killing between packs — they don’t even have pack names, just references to ‘packs’ formed by age within the group at large — the intimate scenes still aren’t very detailed.
For me to rate this 5 ⭐️s, I need more physical details around the characters and some more information about Moon River. I think it would have been beneficial to include a couple of the scenes from the year Zed chased June.
Lola continues to change up the 3 phase ritual. Over the last two stories especially, she has provided more information about the roles (I.e. Alpha, Beta, Omega, Sigma, etc.), and how these are vastly different than previous series I have read. There is a little bit more violence in this story, but it is still not what I would define as dark. Maybe this is because of the sarcastic comments and sense of humor weaved into it from the beginning.
I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are multiple punctuation issues, mainly with commas, incorrect word choices, incorrect word tenses, missing / extra inserted words, and an inconsistency with the timeline at the beginning (1+ year vs. <8 months). I didn’t document all of punctuation issues, just the ones that annoyed me the most tbh. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
This story begins a few hours after the ending of the previous. Del and Rocco are married and June made it in time. She rushed to Moon River to save her BFF from making a mistake, but found the one that used to wallow in misery with her, grinning at a gorgeous man. Now they are at the reception and the only thing to drink is ROOT BEER! WTF?! That is not an appropriate 🍺 for a reception!
Then June hears a sexy voice say, “Why don’t I get you something more appropriate, then?” Men always have the worse timing, popping up where they are not wanted. Maybe she needed to get her pepper spray out to get rid of which ever drunk, 😈 jerk that has come to hit on her and the bride.
Del assured her she wouldn’t need it, that Zed was good people. June would never believe it, because no man, from her father forward, has been good. Then a large male body dropped into the chair next to her, dropped a bottle of red wine on the table, and told her she wouldn’t regret trying it. Surprisingly, he didn’t try to check her out like most other males have in the past, but it still didn’t mean he was a good guy.
Since Del didn’t need saving from her ‘wolfy soulmate’, June might as well enjoy some wine. So June asks Zed for some and he teases with her, and tells her that now it was all his. Zed’s 👀 meets June’s, then his turn red and he says “Mate”. June knows what that means; ‘OH H3LL NO!’ She is not going to be caught and tied down like Del! Men can’t be trusted and she is not convinced, no matter what Del tells her, that good ones exist.
So June listens to the little voice in her head, evades Zed’s hands and runs out of the venue. She hops in her truck and the Chase is on!
I read the first book in this series and didn't know how I felt. So I read books 2 and 3, still felt the same. Now that I've read this book, I'm ok with stopping the series. It's not bad, the take on werewolves is new and interesting. I love other books Lola Glass has written, I've devoured most of her other books. This series just isn't for me, or I'm just not feeling them.
Talk about an ending! Wow. I’m so excited for Elliot’s book! I think it’s going to be a nice change of pace! Okay so this book is officially my least favourite in the series. Still addicting though. I really enjoyed Zed. He was so chilled and patient and just a loving character. June on the other hand… Wow, I really did not like her. In the beginning I was okay with her but then by the 50% mark I didn’t enjoy her and then I really started disliking her by the very end. She’s so annoying and dumb. Like really dumb. I didn’t get her whole ‘I hate men’ thing she had going on. I understand her past with her dad but not everything else she was saying. She was saying that every single man on the planet is piece of rubbish, and that every man she’s ever dealt with was an asshole. Sorry where did you get this information?? You’ve been with (I think) 4 guys but you say they were all terrible but literally gave not one detail how besides Stewart. The way she carried on about them was ridiculous. And there was no evidence besides Stewart and her father that said that all men are trash. Like come on. And the way she carried on about Stewart, I thought he did this absolutely terrible thing to her. But he cheated on her, which is terrible obviously but doesn’t mean that you should still be hung up on him! How the heck do you go to your cheating ex for closure? Literally makes zero sense. She should’ve been angry! Not sad after how many years! I mean sheesh chick, let it go. Don’t give him that power over you. Gosh that frustrated me to no end. I also didn’t like that we didn’t get to see the pack more. I really disliked that aspect. The no communication near the end also killed me. Like girl, just speak. Don’t lie. June’s character frustrated me so damn much. I did enjoy reading this story however, just June ticked me off. I was having a good time up until about the 70% mark. This story was still addicting. I was flipping pages so fast. Lola’s stories just keep you flipping and flipping till you’re done. So good. Teagan and Jesse’s story is still my number 1. I want to read more stories like that. That book was freaking phenomenal. This story was good just June being annoying. 3 stars.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This series has seven books. They are recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual content. Each book in this series is steamy connected standalones and follows a different couple with their own happily ever after, and the stories can be read in any order (but recommended to read them in order for best understanding) for they each end with a lead-in to the next couple's book. This is the fourth standalone book in the Mate Hunt series. This a story about a woman named June and a man named Zed, who is a sigma wolf of Moon Ridge. All she did was try to save her best friend from making a huge mistake and now she’s saddled with an obnoxious werewolf who thinks she’s his wolfy wife. He's trapped in his wolf form until he believes she’s ready to say "I do", which is not exactly her idea of a good time. The wolf follows her everywhere, no matter how many times she has escaped him and no amount of running has shaken him from her tail. At this point, she has no option but to ask him to bite her, so she can move on with her life. All she can do now is hope for the best, which for her, is a female wolf who doesn't tie her down to the jerk who won't quit following her. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series. I highly recommend to everyone.
June, the female lead, has had historically abusive relationships with men and she’s sure they’re always bad news. When Zed, the male werewolf lead, claims she’s his mate, she runs. And spends a year running, desperate to get away. But he never gives up and, in exhaustion, she gives in. But just because she’s consented to be made a wolf doesn’t mean she’s going to stay with him…
This story is female lead POV, except for the epilogue, well written and edited, and a highly emotional tale of learning to love after abuse. I appreciated Zed’s genuine sensitivity and concern for June’s lack of interest, that he never tried to push himself on her and let her carefully work her way towards him. June’s character development was significant and heartwarming. I empathised with her struggle to see how Zed could be different from every male she’d ever experienced. The relationship development was beautiful and the intimate scenes erotic and genuinely adding to the building of the relationship. I also enjoyed how it was truly and completely different from every other story in this series! Well done to the author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5⭐️ “Tracked by the Beast” is book four in Lola Glass’ Mate Hunt series. An interconnected series that follow a different set of characters with each book, can be read as a standalone.
This book follows June and Zed.
Plot June attended her best friends wedding to try and stop her thinking she was making a mistake, only to see that she was really happy. When she comes face-to-face with Zed who claims she is he mate, she runs, and stays on the run for a year, while Zed’s wolf chases her, until she finally gives in and returns to Zed’s hometown.
I have to be honest I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy this book after the glimpses I got of June in the previous book, but I was mistaken. Although at times I wanted to shake and scream at June to open her eyes and see that Zed and the possible future he could offer her could be wonderful.
Zed is a total saint, he never pushes June to accept him, he is generally concern about her and gives her as much space as he can without allowing her to disappear. He is so sensitive, patient, and caring.
June’s character development in this book was significant, the struggles she had undergone to overcome her past was heartwarming.
Tracked by the Beast is the fourth installment in the Mate Hunt series written by Lola Glass. This book is part of an interconnected series but can be read as a standalone. This fated-mate paranormal romance
June attends her best friend’s wedding ceremony and comes face-to-face with her fated mate, Zed. The problem? She has suffered for years by men and flees the reception to avoid being tied to a mate. June is on the run for an entire year as Zed’s wolf chases her. She definitely makes Zed work for her trust and she finally stops running. Zed was a gentleman - he wasn’t overbearing, he was respectful, and he gave June space. There were a few times I wanted to shake June and tell her to stop allowing her past to dictate her future. Luckily Zed is very convincing and they find their happily-ever-after. This wasn’t my favorite storyline in the Mate Hunt series but it was still a five star read! I’m super excited for the next one!
Another okay book with a female protagonist that has some serious issues because the men in her life have betrayed her. She also really doesn't like to socialize period. It is also an example of what I had a problem with in this series. June is a reluctant observer to her BFF Del's wedding to a werewolf. While there one of the pack see her and immediately identifies her as his mate. June manages to escape the wedding and spends the next year trying to get away from him while he's hunting her. He finally wears her down to the point where she just gives up trying to escape him and tells him to biter her and make her a werewolf too so she can get on with her life. How romantic is that? Of course Zed was great in convincing (after he'd stalked or hunted her for a year and then bit her) that he was a man she could trust. And like all the other werewolf men in this series he's got a giant cock to help win her over.
June is a video making world traveller who just got back to the Country to attend her sister's wedding. Having commitment issues as well as male trust issues, she is not happy that her sister went and got married and wastes no time in telling her. However, two things happen: 1) her sister Del is no longer a push over and 2), she is literally caught off guard when a certain male goes all warewolf on her and stares at her with glowing red eyes. The kicker is when he looks at her and calls her "Mate". It doesn't take anymore than that to have her jump into her truck and hightale it out of there .
Zed, usually a grumpy werewolf, has just been doing his job and. being a chef, has cooked up a feast for the entire pack on this special occasion. The last things he expects is to a) meet his mate and b) end up chasing after her when she flees the party like if a mad dog was after her. In his case, the kicker is that the worldly chase will last close to one year.
At the end of this period, June, who hasn't missed the fact that a warewolf has been chasing her in her worldly travels, calls it quits and returns to the small town, at Zed's house and the adventure begins.
This is June's and Zed's story and it is worth reading with it's powerful message..
I discovered this author not so long ago through books she wrote and sort of fell under her spell. She has a special way to creating stories about the paranormal with the main characters engaging in dialogs with a funny attitude under the worst circumstances and using sass and witt that made this reader laugh at certain moments during my reading this story, while also keying up my interest in the plot as well as reactions from all the characters the author uses in her story.
The book turned into a page turner that I highly recommend with a rating of 5 Stars. If I could give it ten stars, I would.
thru this series I always wish at some point it goes to dual pov maybe once they bite their mates and turn back to human .the FMC was so annoying to me, I wished this whole book was in Zed's pov. I really like his laid back character but you knew he cared for his pack and his packs mates. June was.....ugh she obviously has had many things happen to her that has formed who she is and what she wants and doesn't want and how not trusting she is. again she has had bad things happen but she is rude and assuming and it pushed my buttons. and she's selfish and she doesn't even think about Zed.
she assumes zed is a slut, she assumes he thinks she's ugly and she assumes he is an asshole. why? based on the fact that he looked at her for 8 seconds before he turned into his wolf. okkkkaaaayyyy.
I didn't like Teagan and now I don't like June, though she kinda made it up to me the last 10 minutes of the book. BUT I can't not read Elliott's book! I'm no quitter....I'm finishing this series!
TW: abusive ex-boyfriends, discussions of abusive parents
*I want to preface my review with saying that I am an alpha reader for Lola Glass (which means I give my input as she writes the story on what I think should be fixed etc.*
I really enjoyed this book! I think June is probably the heroine I relate most to (why should she trust that these guys are good people just because her friend says so???) and I love her relationship with Zed. There are so many discussions about consent and I love how her dietary issues with certain types of food are respected and not judged.
These are really fun reads-- and also I appreciate how good Lola is at responding and rewriting things that might be problematic. She listens and adjusts and always tries to do better and that isn't something I see in enough authors.
One of the things that bothers me most in the romance genre is series. I find that when there’s a series set in a universe authors have a hard time not recycling the story of the first book for the subsequent novels. They tend to feel like the same story but with different characters. However, I think Lola Glass has crafted these stories in a way that each novel feels different, I don’t feel like I’m reading the same story over and over. There’s always something new, something different. After reading epilogue for this novel, I’m especially excited for the next novel. I think the only thing I’d say is that sometimes Glass will summarize a scene, which isn’t necessarily bad because it keeps the story rolling and doesn’t linger on scenes that aren’t absolutely essential, but sometimes I don’t mind seeing how a scene would have played out.
3.5 stars I lOVE Zed. So far, he may just be my favorite of the male wolves in this series. He's so great, he manages to make up for being paired with the worst of the female wolves in this series (and trust me, there's a lot to make up for)
Personally, this book has one of the themes I hate the MOST in books: the "i hate all men, they're all mean, rude, jerks and not a single man is good" type of woman. I dislike story lines like that because to me, it makes the women seem whiny and weak and not taking responsibility for their own faults of only gravitating towards those type of guys.
Zed on the other hand, is very patient and sarcastic and domineering in all the right ways, while still being respectful. He's the reason I kept going with this book, and even made me tear up at the end with one of his speeches to June. Definitely a top tier book boyfriend.
I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book and I absolutely chewed through the first 3 books to enable me reading the 4th. I have really enjoyed the whole series so far and the book about June and Zed was no exception.
Zed has the patience of a saint and it’s really quite amazing that Lola told a complete story with childhood history and ex relationship closure - all within one stand alone novel. You have to appreciate how many levels and topics were tackled in so few a pages while simultaneously maintaining the wider pack story and driving an epic cliffhanger for the 5th book. I am on edge for the next book and if it was in my hot little hands right now, I would not be getting any sleep tonight. Can’t wait!
June is completely relatable to those who have grown up in a toxic environment as a child and experienced that betrayal from a parent. That feeling of being worthless manifests in ways you never understand and is easily manipulated. I feel like June tried traveling so much to search for what she really desired to be unconditionally loved and wanted. But when you’ve grown up in that life it’s hard to imagine it ever happening or would last. This story really goes through several scenarios and how she has to deal with this heartache. It was well written. On top of the great character development there was also a lot of banter. Loved Zed and June together I think there is just enough back and forth that is great.
Couple: June and Zed Plan to re-read: Maybe Thoughts: I liked this installment better than the last one but June was a LOT to take especially in the end. The visit to Stewart was stupid and pretty much designed to create drama. Seeking closure from shitty people (fictional or otherwise) is a pointless exercise but I will give the author credit. She illustrated that point beautifully here. A lot of authors write wish fulfillment closure and that always rings pretty false to me. This felt much more realistic. FMC ends up pregnant: No
I think the author is doing a fairly good job differentiating each couple and making the mate phases personal to them as a couple. I will probably continue the series and maybe check out the spinoff.

I absolutely loved zed and June. The beginning as hilarious. I laughed at the situations and the dry banter. Zed was so amazing. Giving June space and time to work through things. Loving her through her trauma. He was gentle. Patient, and kind, and pretty easy going. June was understandably hesitant to get into a relationship after her personal past. Zed definitely showed her she could trust him. I absolutely looooved this book. Weirdly it is probably my favorite so far. Not every werewolf has to be overly possessive. It totally made sense in this book.
This fated mate couple hit all the right spots when it came to June being extra stubborn about being in a relationship and Zed’s patience with his love for her. When Zed starts to grow on June, their love is pretty epic and they have that sweet awkward start to their relationship with a side of fun playfulness. A great read that looks into why June is adamant about not being in a relationship and the growth she has as she mates with Zed.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
June and Zed appear to be at opposite ends of the mating issue. June stubbornly resists him, influenced by her difficult past. And yet Zed remains patient and caring, waiting for her to realize he loves her and to accept him at her own pace.
Their banter helps establish a closeness and lets her know him better. His following her everywhere, despite her thinking that is annoying, shows her his devotion. When she finally recognizes that, will she open up and give him a chance to provide her with what she has always craved? Can they find their HEA?
Another book by Lola Glass that I haven't been able to put down. I love the slow romance in this, following June and Zed learning about each other. Zed is so patient in waiting for June to accept him and his love for her, while June has a lot of relationship issues which she has to find a way of getting over to be able to accept Zed's love completely. It's great how this set of books are written as stand along books but they slot so well together; can't wait for the next one.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
If you like prim and proper heroines and soft romance this is not the book for you .. the heroine is sassy, determined, hurt and surviving as well as sarky brave and determined toresist the mate she never wanted Good job the hero is just that, calm, loving, even more determined but gentle and patient too . This is a hot shifter romance and once you start reading you just cannot put it down Part of a series but easy to read as a stand alone ( cant wait to get the rest of the series ).

When Zed looked into June’s eyes for the first time and said “mate” she flat out bolted. She ran and didn’t stop for an entire year. No matter how fast or far she tried to run, his wolf was always there. When she finally gave in and stopped she was ready to really stop and make some life decisions. She harbored a lot of pain from her past and couldn’t help but expect the same disastrous relationship with Zed. But he was nothing but patient and kind and slowly won her over. This was another great book in this awesome series, now on to Elliot’s story!!
I hate to say it, but all good things must come to an end and unfortunately, my love affair with the series came to an end with June. The most whiny selfish character in the entire series. I can’t stand her. I don’t like her. I think she’s spoiled brat she is, selfish shortsighted and just got on my nerves so badly that I almost did not finish this book. Poor Zed is all I can say. He’s so sweet and accommodating and loving, and she is just rotten to the core and I cannot stand her.
June and Zed's story begins after a long chase and they head back to Zed's home town. Then begins the fun of these two different people falling for each other. But of course things are not smooth as there are issues to be worked through. And of course there is the fun of the rest of the gang as they pop in and out. Laughed and groaned but enjoyed the story. And it was a bit different then the previous books.
Tracked by the beast by Lola Glass. Book 4 of Mate Hunt. All I did was try to save my best friend from making a huge mistake... And now I'm saddled with an obnoxious werewolf who thinks I'm his wolfy wife. Did I mention that he's trapped in his wolf form until he believes I'm ready to say "I do"? A great read. I loved Jay and Zed and how they were together. I'm looking forward to the next book. 4*.
To me, These types of series get a bit repetitive after awhile. Toward the end, I was skimming quite a bit and the sex scenes…they didn’t do anything for the story. Like in my last review I noted that damn/damned is used a lot. This book was no different and I searched it to find it used 190 times. Again, it’s not a deal breaker but it gets annoying. A lot of telling and not showing that I ended up skimming. I’ll read the rest of them because I want to find out about Ryder and the last chapter always pulls me back in it.
I really enjoyed these two. As someone who lovingly flips her husband off I thought it was a cute addition to their dynamic. I liked how the characters had to work through the past trauma of her childhood and distrust of men but it didn't become too heavy. It added depth to the characters without being too overwhelming. Honestly it got worked through a little fast to be realistic but I didn't come here for reality. So it was perfect. Great time all around.
