Because I ran right into the chest of a sexy guy on my way out of the kitchen, and he turned into a wolf.
As it turns out, werewolves are real, and they're just as hot as every indie romance book I've ever read has said.
And this one has decided I'm his mate.
Talk about a dream come true, right?
But turning into a werewolf when your mate bites you isn't guaranteed, apparently.
Sometimes, it kills people.
And when he bites me, my health starts to decline, fast.
Now it's not a question of whether or not I choose the sexy werewolf that fate decided was mine... it's a matter of whether or not my body will fight hard enough to survive the change at a much slower pace than it should.
There's nothing we can do but hope like hell... and enjoy the time we still have.
Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a book lover with a *slight* romance obsession. My books are all steamy romantic fantasy or paranormal romance, and there is always a happily ever after.
Stop by my Facebook group, Lola's Book Lovers, for updates, giveaways and other fun!
A FMC who spends most of her free time reading paranormal romantasy, writing about it on GR and dreaming of finding a fated mate herself. Turns out werewolves are real, and she's basically speedrunning meeting as many of them as she can in hope of ending up as ones mate.
Lola did us all a solid by writing that book. How is it 2025 and we still can't make books into reality?
This was by far my favorite book and I’m a total wreck. I should have waited longer because the next book is the end and I am not ok Lola. I just need you to know that because I know you read your reviews.
So here’s to a beautiful story full of laughs, tears, and gut wrenching moments.
Lola Glass is a new to me author. When I read the description for Temped by the Wolf I knew I wanted to read it and since each book in the series follows a different couple I figured I was safe. Turns out it was a really good read.
The main character, Sabrina, is a paranormal romance book addict and what does every pnr reader want? A supe of their own of course. When Sabrina finds out werewolves are real she wants one of her own. Sabrina grew up alone and she's a loner now so I can see the appeal of a mate. However, while I love that she has such a good heart and is an avid reader she bugged me for a good chunk of this book. Her expectations weren't realistic. She said she knows the difference between book romance and a real-life mate but when the real deal presents itself Sabrina doesn't handle things well. She has a lot of stuff to work on, insecurities, and fears to name a couple.
As for her mate Dax, I questioned things at first but so realized he's a good guy. A great guy. Dax is understanding, patient, caring, and so much more. I actually think he would be a perfect match for me. I loved how he talked with Sabrina and tried to make things comfortable for her.
The plot centers around the relationship drama between Dax and Sabrina. Communication is key and Sabrina has to do a lot of introspection about her reaction to things. Things do get pretty steam and there were a couple of surprises that add more interest to the story.
Tempted by the Wolf was a fun light-hearted read and I really enjoyed it. The last couple of chapters and the epilogue sure piqued my interest, one being a clue to the next book while the other could lead to a spin-off series. Either way, I will be sure to check out more of Lola's work in the future.
The FMC was the most annoying character I have read in a long time. She actively searches for a werewolf mate. Gets a werewolf mate and doubts their connection and potential relationship. She doubts on practically every single page, in fact. During this doubt, she decides she doesn't care about birth control and is okay if she gets pregnant. With a guy you aren't sure about! Really? She acts like a middle school girl throughout the book. She is obsessed with book characters and is constantly harping on about how she reads a lot. She reads, is rich, and has trouble saying no to friends. Dax is a werewolf data analyst virgin. That's it. That's all I learned about the characters. The world building is non-existent here. She is indecisive. He is in love with her. She has a big tub and shower. They get mated, whine about stuff, and then get together. That was the book. I'm sorry, but I really disliked it and probably won't read more from this author. I just needed more plot and character development along with better world building.
There were things I liked about this story but some things annoyed me too..Sabrina was so desperately wanting a wolf mate. She got one in Dax but it took a bit longer for the mate magic to kick in. She is angry that things didn't happen the way she fantasized. But she takes it out on Dax and lots of her thoughts just really annoying. I was excited for this book but then got frustrated at parts of it.
There wasn't a lot of relationship building, sabby was sick thru most of it but because of that I didn't feel the chemistry. but she talks about her tub, her social media and goodreads. obviously I felt Dax's feelings, and he was great, but I just felt Sabrina was frustrated and distant and upset most of the time. and she wanted it all so badly but then questioned it all when she finally got what she had been asking for the entire time she's been in the books!!! wth.
Awkward! Dax’s wolf triggered after he brought others to meet her!
This is the sixth book of the Mate Hunt series, and I personally DO NOT CONSIDER this to be a STAND-ALONE read. I HIGHLY recommend these be read in series order, as they contain multiple reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines (begins as soon as the previous one ended), and interwoven themes so a lot of details that occurred previously would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
— If you have not read any of the stories in this series, the following will contain spoilers, but hopefully only enough to adequately explain my opinions, questions, etc. about the story. —
⛔️ There are a couple of potential triggers for sensitive readers, such as adult language, semi-steamy intimate scenes, mental health challenges of depression, anxiety, etc., and references to violence from a previous story (not between the current H/h), such as rape, fighting, threats, assault, murder (self-defense), etc.
Lola Glass has created a unique origin story for werewolves that resulted in two separate beings in a shared body. When the wolf is in charge the human can see what is happening, but cannot communicate, or control, the animal that will act on instinct. Because of how werewolves evolved, only males are born, so when the wolf finds its mate, the reaction is immediate and that starts a 3 phase ritual: Hunt, Chase and Climax. This is what necessitates the kidnapping of the human female for most of them, as the wolf will not shift back until he marks his chosen mate.
For a PNR especially, I consider these to be really clean. There isn’t any fighting or killing between packs — they don’t even have pack names, just references to ‘packs’ formed by age within the group at large — the intimate scenes still aren’t very detailed, but they aren’t ‘fade-aways’ either.
Lola continues to change up the 3 phase ritual and how it happens. In all of the previous stories, The Chase is triggered when the males’ / female’s 👀 first meet with his. / her wolf’s chosen female / male. No one had ever heard of a mate bond being triggered months after the first meeting of a couple.
This story begins with a slight overlap from the previous to see the mating triggered from her perspective when Sabrina, aka Sab and Sabby, crashes into Dax at the restaurant she helps at when they need her. The majority of the story is told from Sabby’s POV, which left me really wanting more from Dax (he’s an interesting guy … at least I think so, that is why I need more from him 😁), especially after having dual POVs in the previous.
I still want more descriptions of the characters and the story universe, as that is what makes it come to life. Normally I wouldn’t do this given it has a couple of issues (see notes below), but I rated it 5 ⭐️s because there was something that resonated with me about Sabby and Dax. Maybe it is because I am an avid reader (some would same rabid, whatever 😁), or her insecurities about never fitting in, being the ‘tagalong’ friend that is included because she is friends with a member of the core group.
In this story, Dax and Sabby have met, conversed, and even set each other up with members of the opposite sex to increase their chance of meeting their mate. He even had several males meet him at the diner when she was working so they could meet Sabby! Can you imagine?! Awkward!
I am both looking forward to, and dreading Ryder’s story, which is the next, but final book in this series. Hopefully Lola Glass will make this into an Moon River Universe and have different spin-offs featuring various other ‘packs’.
I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are a few punctuation issues with primarily commas, as well as missing periods and quotation marks. Also errors with incorrect word tense, word choice, capitalization, and missing words. I didn’t document all of punctuation issues with commas, just the ones that annoyed me the most tbh, still less than before. There is one section that needs additional information added to explain why Sabby, Lizzy and Char have set up a meeting (from previous story). I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
DNF - I skim read about 50% of this one. Couple: Sabrina and Dax Plan to re-read: No Thoughts: Pretty much none of this one worked for me. Sabrina was a terrible wishy washy whiny character. She wanted a werewolf mate and she got one but he didn't like her before the bond formed so that made her upset. She wanted ROMANCE and a werewolf who would break all the rules just for herm because he was more into her than his future mate....that was dumb. Then he tells her he loves her like she wanted but she realizes she doesn't KNOW him and that makes her upset. She just sucked. Then there was all the resentment she had toward the pack because she felt like they didn't really like her until she was mated to Dax. Which wasn't true and it actually takes her until the very end of the book to pull her head out of her ass and realize how dumb she was about basically everything. I have no opinion on Dax he seemed fine like most of the guys - they are fairly interchangeable. The whole meeting with Lisa was stupid and definitely should have been omitted from the story.
It also kind of bugs me when authors set rules for a world just to end up breaking them or adding random shit to work around them. Which is exactly what happened with Sabrina and her mate bond with Dax, magic and witches get tossed in hastily to make breaking the rules possible. It is also supposed to be difficult for werewolves to have kids except Lizzy ends up having 2 kids and then Sabrina ends up having one 10 months after she and Dax mate and it's a girl which is also something that isn't supposed to happen but is hand waved away because magic. Bleh. Seems like it isn't all that difficult for werewolves to have kids then.
FMC ends up pregnant: No but there is a super speshul baby in the epilogue.

Tempted by the Wolf is the sixth installment in the Mate Hunt series written by Lola Glass. This book is part of an interconnected series but can be read as a standalone. This fated mate paranormal romance is a slow-burn fated mate story.
Sabrina ‘Sab’ is a hopeless romantic dreaming about experiencing an all-consuming and explosive love that she reads about in books. She thinks she may stumble upon that kind of fiery passion if she can meet her very own mate like her best friend did. She strikes up a deal with a shifter where they both introduce each other to as many single people as possible in hopes something clicks. Dax is tired of searching for his mate and wants the same happiness that his friends are experiencing by finding the person his wolf claims. Well, little do Sab and Dax know, that the bond will click into place… with each other.
Sabrina is skeptical of the mate bond and feels cheated. She wants her mate to want her and not because of the mate bond. Dax spends the majority of the book convincing her that he was always attracted to her and it’s not just his wolf. Sab really puts him through the wringer and I didn’t love how poorly she kept treating him. I was relieved when Dax finally got through to her and made her realize that he’s fully invested. Finally!
This was a sweet book and I may have squealed when Dax revealed he read all of the same books as Sab by checking out her Good Reads profile. Isn’t that what we all want? ;)
Talk about another ending! I figured one of the couples were going to have female wolf and I’m so glad Sabby did! I’m also so excited for Ryder and Char’s book. I think we all knew but it’s still so thrilling! This book was a bit up and down for me. I absolutely loved Dax. He reminded me a lot of the typical male characters I read about and I loved it. I also liked that he was bossy. Sabby on the other hand…I really enjoyed her in the beginning and then I don’t know what happened. I liked her and then got a bit frustrated (nothing like June) and then I liked her again so it was just a constant cycle of up and down. I think what bugged me is that she started coming across really bitter at times. But then just after that I felt like I could relate to her but then she would become bitter again. So very confusing. I don’t even know why I was getting so affected by it. The relationship also followed these fluctuations (because of Sabby) so it felt very jumbled. Still good just a bit up and down. Besides that I really enjoyed this story. I loved the change of scenery and I always love seeing the pack. Teapot and Kettle will forever be my number one. Gosh I love that book. I think I was almost let down by this book a smidge because it started off so well and I thought it might be my second favourite book in the series. But then I just stopped loving it so much. Still a really great book and I highly recommend. It just wasn’t my favourite. It either sits at 4th or 5th place but I can’t decide yet. Maybe 4th? 3,75 stars!

Sabrina, the female lead, has wanted a wolf mate ever since she found out wolf shifters existed. She was deeply disappointed when she met Dax, the male lead, and he didn’t claim her as his mate and then refused to be good friends with her, though he was willing to set her up as long as she returned the favour, in aid of finding both their mates. Now, his wolf has claimed her but the shift isn’t happening properly…
This story is mostly female lead POV, with some male lead, well written and edited, and a new premise in this world with a genuinely different set of challenges for the lead characters to overcome. I appreciated the genuineness of Sabrina’s discomfort with the fact that her mating process was different to normal and that she felt uncomfortable in a number of situations because of it. I appreciated the respect that Dax gave Sabrina - on a number of occasions, he could have taken advantage of her temperament to ease his life but he chose to wait for her to make an active choice. I enjoyed the lead characters personal development and the relationship that developed because of it. And the intimate scenes were sexy but still sweet with banter and affection.

Fav 💖 I think this book is tied with Del as my favorite of the series so far and I definitely shed a little tear with the crossover into Ryder's book 😩 been looking forward to his book after the heartbreak he suffered. I liked the twists in this book that again changed it from the first two with Sabrina's body not accepting the wolf and then when u find out why it all makes sense.
Unlike the other girls Sabrina was actively looking for a werewolf mate she'd read so many PNR books she wanted it all and when her bestfriend met her mate after rejecting her first one she wanted it even more 💖 Sab and Dax had been helping each other out by introducing the other to werewolves or humans but after spending months around each other Dax's wolf chose Sabrina leaving everyone confused especially Sabrina. She wanted all the fairytale romance she read about in her books a possesive male who was obsessed with her she thought Dax was anything but attracted to her but when they finally open up to each other they realize the obsessive attraction was there from the start. Turns out Sabrina is special inheriting a small amount of magic which meant a block preventing Dax's wolf from entering the hunt. Sab spent a lot of her childhood alone after losing her mother and grandparents young so she has some abandonment issues that she still clings to and worries Dax will one day do the same but turns out they're more alike than they think and the chemistry they share is Undeniable hot 💖
our FMC, Sab, is your typical romance reader, monster fucker, fae, werewolves, vampires, all of it. She just wants her handsome hero and love at first sight and everything we as readers love to consume. The problem is her inner monologue - and even some of the things she says out loud - are just the worst sides of those kinds of readers. She compares things Dax, our MMC, does to different characters in her books, and even tries to nickname the wolf half of dax after her fav bookish boyfriends...
Its just embarrassing to read. She's the kind of person that celebrities get restraining orders against - and she should have been banned from the werewolf town given her entire mission was to find a werewolf - ANY werewolf - to mate her and turn her and be her true love.
She was mad at Dax for not flirting with her before realizing they were mates, despite knowing male werewolves stay loyal to their mates and it turns out its something on /her/ end that stopped the mating bond from clicking into place at first... But honestly, she doesn't respect the werewolf culture. It's almost fetishized in her mind.
So bad.
I feel sorry for Dax on this one. He got the worst FMC of the bunch, easily.
Sorrrry but these are just bad and while I enjoyed them at first I realized the author writes basically the same MMC and FMC with slight variations. They’re also pretty basic and I hate to say this but it really shows.
Look I’m really glad how this author has much more “diversity” in terms of race and has a lot of “geek” type MCs but like there needs to be a bit more thoughtfulness with this. Many authors get readers to help them with representation and avoiding cliches.
In a previous book, this FMC is described as Asian which is fair as it’s a stranger and someone just remarking on appearance. But then in the FMCs own book she refers to herself as Asian…author could’ve written as how people perceive her to have typical (east) “Asian” hair blah blah or like I am Chinese, Japanese or whatever.
“I finally tied my apron on and threw my long, slightly-wavy black hair up in a high-ponytail. Considering that I was Asian, some people didn’t believe the waves were natural, which was annoying as shit. They were natural; I didn’t like getting out and socializing enough for frequent salon visits, and perm solution reeked.”
Sabrina has been hunting for a werewolf mate for years. She wanted a mate who would be obsessed with her and loved explosively. She even struck a deal with Dax a single werewolf in her best friend's pack. He would gather single male werewolves to meet her while she would introduce him and them to single woman. Dax always treated her like a business partner until one day she literally runs into him coming out of the bathroom at the diner where she was working. The his wolf chose her as his mate and he shifted. He became so violent with other wolves that he and Sabrina were taking to jail to control his wolf. Sabrina is confused why his wolf waited so long to pick her. Instead of feeling loved, she feels like Human Dax wants nothing to do with her. Inside she is fighting their connection. Even when she let's Zach's wolf bite her, she is still fighting for control. Everyone gets concerned when she doesn't change into her wolf. If she doesn't give control to her wolf, she will die.

Note: I am an alpha reader for Lola (this means I read the book as she writes it and provide notes/things to change etc)
Sab has wanted a werewolf mate since she knew they existed-- she and the werewolf Dax try to set each other up to see if they can find their respective mates. All of a sudden, Sab bumps into Dax in a restaurant and... whoops they were mates this whole time but unlike in other books, they didn't connect the first time they made eye contact. Sab finally has her werewolf mate... but she isn't sure if Dax actually likes her for who she is.
I enjoyed this book a lot (although admittedly not as much as the previous book as Elliot as a dad is just amazing). Lola manages to make each book different and it is so fascinating to see how the one person who was open about wanting a werewolf mate is the one that has one of the hardest times with it.
Plus, gotta love two bookworms falling in love!.

This was one of those stories that is easy to read and beautiful to finish. I think any one who reads this book will relate to the nerdish tendencies of our MC’s. The author does a good job at bringing up the blending reality with fiction with Sab’s emotions. You see her over coming her fear and needing help to process and let go of the changes in her life. I found Sabrina to be incredibly relatable! Our main characters were both timid but bright people but I found Dax to be a little bland. In the beginning Sab thought Dac was boring after assuming that they weren’t mated. You find out more about him near the end of the book but that only amounted to a few lines. I wish the author would have expanded his personality either through him being a Delta or just anything else about him. I understand his hobby was also reading but it made him very one dimensional. Instead of a full male it felt more like a dildo of a person. It gets the job done but you still want the real thing.
Have to leave a review on this one. The FMC Sabrina ruined this for me. It would be one star if it wasn’t for MMC Dax, who was dreamy and swoony and sweet. But she was dense, irrational, illogical, self centered, insecure and whiny. Contradictory inner monologues (insecure about fitting it with his pack family but feels apart of his family after meeting his parents once for 5 minutes?). She’s been literally begging for a mate for 5 or 6 books and she finally gets one and she’s too insecure and self-pitying to enjoy it? Pass. And all these huge feelings she’s having? They flip as easy as a light switch. Like we’re talking over the course of a couple of hours. She’s terrified because she “doesn’t know anything” about Dax, but instead of thinking “hmm we could talk some and get to know each other” she thinks they’re broken and he should move out and they aren’t meant to be. But weeks earlier she didn’t want to use birth control cuz she wants kids with him? Color me confused. Anyway.. my least fav of the ones I’ve read in this series. Do not recommend.

3.5 stars rounded up- This was probably one of my least favorite books of the series because I just had such a hard time understanding Sabrina. It was also really strange that she had Liz as her best friend and she couldn’t figure out that Sabrina was uncomfortable and what was going on? Honestly I think this book had so much more potential but it felt like the author struggled to pick an issue to focus on- she feels disconnected from the pack (either because of her upbringing or the witch thing which I also don’t get), she’s convinced that Dax hates her even though they’re described as friends in the beginning, the struggling to shift thing, the fact that her dad is rich. Out of everything I think feeling disconnected from relationships because of her upbringing would’ve been enough of a plot that we didn’t need these other things. Also I wish we’d had more explanation about Deltas in the pack cause that would’ve connected how Dax and Sabrina would’ve been good together cause honestly I’m still confused.

FC wants a werewolf mate. She gets a werewolf mate. “But he didn’t love me before”. Mates are not long-time lovers until they are mated. If she paid attention enough to her friends and their pack mates she would know this. The men keeps a distance because they don’t want to risk a relationship before finding their mates. FC gets to be part of the pack. “But they didn’t accept me before”. They did accept her before. But as a the third-wheel, friend of their mates and not a mated one. For reasons, see above. Instead of rejoicing what she got, she is stuck in self-commiseration of “I didn’t get loved enough and therefore what happens now is not important”. The MC, is respectful, knows how to communicate and likes her. He has paid attention on her tastes and preferences before while keep his distance because of a future mate. Yet, she whines and whines. Hum, not for me. I prefer characters who are more confident and less whine-y.
Loving this series by Lola Glass, I’m enjoying her spin on the werewolf trope, it’s one I’ve never read before. The characters are complex some with emotions and baggage to deal with before they click. Ever since Sabrina learned about werewolves she’s been determined that she wanted her own werewolf mate and has been working with Dax helping him meet human girls while he introduced her to single werewolves. Until one day she accidentally bumped into Dax and his wolf seized the opportunity to claim and begin hunting her. But Sabrina is confused, they’ve known each other for months and he was always aloof and disinterested in her. Unfortunately Sabrina has a lot of expectations of her werewolf fantasy that don’t line up with wolf culture. Especially when Dax’s wolf bites her and instead of shifting for her wolf to begin her hunt of Dax, Sabrina nearly dies when her body attempts to reject the transformation.
I loved how this book is written, a very different mating bond/hunt/chase to the previous couplings in this group of friends. The main two in this story, Dax and Sabrina, have known each other for a while and have been actively helping each other to find their mates (why Dax’s Wolf took so long to claim his mate is found out). Sabrina is friends with Lizzie and moved to the town with her and Ethan. She’s a lover of books, particularly romance and paranormal, and wants a Wolf to claim her and sweep her of her feet. Dax is unsure why his Wolf is taking so long to find his mate and is denying his feelings for Sabrina. Their relationship begins in jail, for their protection (as his Wolf gets very protective when he finally emerges) and their problems don’t end there. I loved how their story enfolds and how you see the pack changing and growing.
This one was hard to rate. I liked the new storyline, even though it was obvious for me who would be the next mates from reading the previous book (even before the end). I liked how she had real feelings and worries, but it also kind of clashed with how she had always wanted to be a werewolf because she wanted a true love etc. and she was on the verge of annoying me. Especially since she just flew back in full force so quickly after declaring the no sex rule.
Then there’s the H who’s wolf is totally opposite the human. Idk. It seemed too clashy. He was almost overly needy, which annoyed me because the h needed some actual space to think. But he also allowed her time to stew and was there when she was ready to talk.
I guess I just didn’t really care for the characters. It’s like we barely got to know either of them compared to the other books in the series.
Sabrina is interested in finding a wolf shifter for her mate. Ever since she learns shifters were real this was something she had wanted. She meets Dax through a friend and is disappointed when he doesn't claim her for his mate. However, he does agree to help her by introducing her to other shifters. This is working until they run into each other and touch for the first time. This sets off the hunt for Dax as he just now recognizes Sabrina as his mate. Will she be able to believe he truly wants her? Can they get their happy ending?
This is another amazing story from this series. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. It's a book for any book lover to enjoy.

Thought this was going to be my favorite because Sabrina is a book blogger and loves romantasy and all the same things I like but was disappointed. This one was probably my least favorite.
She went from being mad that it wasn't insta-love to then saying things were moving too fast? And that she didn't know anything about him but then had to be told "you should probably talk to him?"
It just felt like the author was trying to make way more drama when there just wasn't any. Also the epilogue had me rolling my eyes again. Intrigued by the prospect of what was revealed but at the same time, it once again re-enforced this "wow she's so extra special than everyone else" thing they were setting up but didn't really dig into.
Awh, I loved this story so much! This book is devine and dreamy. I felt such a connection to Sab and enjoyed watching her develop confidence as the book went on. Sab is a curvy book lover and Dax is a hunky werewolf who has read all the steamy books on Sab's reading list.... I love the insecurity of Sab and the whole situation with their mating is fascinating. And Dax is all the right kinds of strong, handsome, thoughtful and lovely. A great read, it works just to read this story but it is so lovely to read all the other stories too as the characters pop in and out.

I’ve been loving this series but this book to me felt too short and kind of rushed compared to the others which was disappointing. It didn’t really give us much time to get to know the characters deeper and it just felt all very surface level, especially compared to some of the other books in this series.
In saying that I really hope Lola is going to write many more books based on this “world”. It’s probably my favourite of her book series other than the outcast pack, which is on par in my mind but also sucks cause there isn’t more books from that series coming out and that’s a damn shame.
Looking forward to the next book, just bummed I now have to wait a few days again 😂
Sabrina was Lizzy’s best friend and went to some of the pack dinners felt that Dax was very aloof towards her. He set her up with different werewolves as potential mates not knowing that his wolf had really claimed her, her little magic was making it hard until they touched then it clicked for his wolf. They ended in jail because his wolf was being difficult when he bit her. Her magic was stopping the wolf to appear and almost died but they finally figured it out. Sabrina had a lot of insecurities to work out and Dax helped her. Good book! Can’t wait to read Ryder’s book!.

Another HEA - expected of course, what i love about Lola Glass' stories is the unexpected journey towards the HEA, real characters with flaws and imperfections that still find that perfect soul mate to fit just right into every awkward personality trait - ying yang or just perfect acceptance of a person. It's real magic to weave a world full of details and characters that keep me entertained and wondering how all the obstacles will be resolved, how will the characters arrive at their HEA. One last book in the series to enjoy, will miss this world of werewolves and fated mates bonds! Love the epilogues and the glimpse into their futures - a perfect ending!
