Shards

Rate this book
In his debut series of poems, Shards, high school student and poet Colin Parrott articulates his experience with depression and his search for love, intimacy and purpose. The desire for connection and the struggle with feeling one’s own value are recurring themes as he shares his most vulnerable, inner thoughts. While recovery is not linear, it is through the process of creation that one learns to keep living and to see beauty and hope amidst the pain. Although the glass may crack again in the future, he remains steadfast in his commitment to pick up the pieces, live authentically and let people in.

A beautiful and heartbreaking look inside the poet’s experience with depression. “Now write, wipe your eyes with the pen.” Little gems of amazing observation and lush language abound.
