DNF at 30%.

I am not the intended audience for this book. I came in looking for a murder mystery with a dash of paranormal. What I got instead is a group of privileged people hanging out in their expensive homes and talking pregnancy, babies and nanny care, and who dates whom. The murder was mentioned once, and we don't even know if it really happened. Oh, and the paranormal aspect didn't play any major part in the story so far.

This is a slice of life of a pregnant 40 something successful woman, with a dash of romance on top, not a murder mystery. Some people might enjoy this genre, but that is definitely not my cup of tea.

PS: I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mirror Obscure by Elizabeth Hunter is the second book in her Vista de Lirio paranormal women's fiction series. Vivian who has now developed empathic abilities has a lot to deal with in this book. She single, pregnant and her parents have just moved in with her. Her friends, Julia and Evy, are right by her side as they struggle to solve not one but three mysteries in their Palm Springs community. Romance, murder, suspense and a few laugh out loud moments kept me turning the pages. I really enjoyed being back in Vista de Lirio.

I was fortunate enough to recieve an ARC of Mirror Obscure, I can't tell you enough how much fun this series is. As I am hitting my forties this year, this book kind of reminded me that just because we are getting older it doesn't mean that life ends.
this book has it all. Quirky charcters, silver foxes, murder mysteries, and super natural powers.

Vivian Wei the local dentist of Vista de Liro and a newly empath. did I also mention she is pregnant?
When Vivian's mom wakes up in the night and watched someone being murdered on the golf coures. but how does one investigate a murder when there is no body, or any evidence of a crime? Vivian Evy and Julia decide to look into this crime with the help of there small group of quirky friends, and possibly a ghost or two. Vivian has so much going on with the murder, her parents, finding a new house and gettting ready for the baby and her work, that In the midst of all of this, Vivian finds peace and comfort in Richard. Richard and Vivian are the cutest couple ever.
so with that I must say that Elizabeth has hit another home run! I can not wait until the next book to come out. This book was an excellent read.

Just finished Mirror Obscure by Elizabeth Hunter! I have really enjoyed her paranormal women's fiction books because they are kind of cozy mysteries with a little spice, which is a fantastic combination. This one features Vivian, dentist and telepath, and her gal pals Julia and Evy as they work the case of a murder on the 13th tee. Richard is there to help Vivian learn to unburden herself and allow someone to take care of her every now and then, especially while she is several months pregnant. The case leads them to a conspiracy involving the school Booster Club and people hungry for power. If I could stand the heat, I would totally want to live in Vista de Lirio with this group of ladies and their eclectic and loving group of friends. The third book comes out in October 2022 and I can't wait to complete the series!

This series is one of the most fun series I’ve read in quite some time. The cast of characters are not just zany, but as the series develops they become so much more interesting! I love the strong independent female leads in Vista De Lirio, and how they find the type of relationship that is right for them even if it doesn’t fit the conventional norm. With this installment we are right back in the action of murder and mystery! And the main crime fighter is preggers! Like, can’t drive a compact car because they can’t sit back far enough from the wheel or get out of it without help stage of pregnancy. I have never read anything like that and it had me laughing hysterically and feeling quite empathetic to poor Vivian. Thankfully not only did she have her psychic girl squad, Dean and Sergio and a guard alpaca by her side but Richard was there to take care of any of her other needs that would support her in her full time profession of dentistry, crime solver, expectant mother……and any and all other needs a woman may have. Like seriously, this man is game to the realities of life and wants IN. He’s lived a little and has the gray temple hairs to prove it….but he’s still built like an Adonis and anticipates a partners needs in a way that had me swooning and drooling all over my kindle. I can’t wait for everyone to get a chance to read this fun book!

With thanks to Netgalley and Recurve Press for my ARC.

Vivian, Julia and Evy are back, and this time the murder they’re trying to solve is closer to home after Vivian’s mother sees a murder occurring on the thirteenth tee - except there’s no body, so no crime.

Meanwhile, Vivian’s pregnancy is progressing and why is it only now that she’s met the perfect man?

Another excellent read by Elizabeth Hunter, who has provided a paranormal murder mystery with a touch of spice. Reading Mirror Obscure is like visiting with friends you haven’t seen for a while; you really want to know what they’ve been getting up to and how they are, and you’re happy to join them in whatever they have planned.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book since I love this series. Enjoy!

I have yet to be disappointed by anything Elizabeth Hunter writes and Mirror Obscure is no exception, with its humor, adventure and relationships captivating me at every turn.

Mirror Obscure is the second book in Elizabeth Hunter’s newest PWF (paranormal women’s fiction) trilogy, Vista de Lírio.

Vivian and Richard get their story told and amongst family, a pregnancy, humor, car chases and murder, we get the beginning of a sweet love story. I absolutely loves these two as couple and I am so hopeful for their little family.

The mystery is fascinating and the dangers very real, so the three friends have quite an uphill to battle. I don’t want to spoil the story at all, but I had a lot of fun and was quite nervous for the trio.

I am loving the Vista de Lírio series and can’t wait for the final book, Trouble Play.

OMG! How freaking fun!!

I love everything Elizabeth Hunter has ever written, but I think I can be unbiased when I say she's knocked it out of the park again! Who knew mysteries could be so fun?! Add in a little pregnancy nookie and it was unputdownable.

Bring on Trouble Play and more of these interesting characters!

I loveee this book, it's super super fun to read, I really enjoyed it a lot, I devoured it in short time.

This book is focused on Vivian's life and she's got a lot on her plate, she's still adjusting to her new psychic prowess, she's pregnant, her parents maybe moving permanently to her house, something is wrong with her mom and her mom just become the witness of a murder. Then there's Richard a handsome wonderful temptation that ready to swept her off her feet (I want and need Richard in my life). Yup, Vivian's life really complicated this time, but she has her psychic bestfriends Julia and Evy and her other close friends in Vista De Lirio that ready to support and help her in unique and fun ways. This book really heartwarming with some humor here and there that got me laughing a lot.
As for the mystery itself, it's a page-turner fun cozy mystery with a bit of action in the last few chapters. A murder mystery in country club, with annoying highclass suspects. It's a light mystery, no mindblowing plot but the highlight is when Vivian, Julia and Evy searching for clues and trying to capture the murderer, it's just full of fun and humor and suspense.

Wonderful unique characters, funny heartwarming story with romance and mystery in it, definitely highly recommended this one.

P.S Paco the alpaca still makes appearances and there's ghost that looks like Robert Redford, so yeah you definitely need to check this one out.

In Mirror Obscure readers are transported back to the delightfully eccentric community of Vista de Lirio. I adore these characters. Vivian is a daughter, sister friend and professional. She is also about to become a single mom. This twist adds a depth to this story that is quite enjoyable.
When a murder happens in her backyard, Viv and her friends can’t help but combine their unique psychic talents to get to the bottom of the mystery. Elizabeth Hunter once again layers mystery and romance with friendship and family to craft a compelling tale.
Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the 2nd book in the Vista de Lirio series and was as enjoyable as the 1st. Elizabeth Hunter manages to always right female characters that you'd like to be friends with and Viv (and the others) are no exception. I mean a little bit of murder, a little kissing and lots of new skills within the group? What could go wrong (or right for that matter!).

I keep thinking that I've figured out exactly what's going to happen next and I keep getting it wrong. That is a sign of a good writer.

I really do love these books and the 'older' women that they involve. I particularly like how the women interact with each other in such a normal, just like me kind of way.

I'd recommend this book/series/author to anyone looking for some quick laughs, mystery and suspense and great character development.

Again, it was free and her writing is enjoyable, so I'm not going to trash this at all. I am thinking it's time to start spreading my Elizabeth Hunter out a bit more, however. Of the three "paranormal women friends" series this one still feels weaker than the other two to me, and I don't think that's just over-exposure talking.

That said, it's a fun, very light, easy read that won't ask much of you. Great summer reading.

Book 2 in the Vista de Lirio series is amazing. Mirror Obscure follows Vivian on her quest to become a mother as well as learning about and using her new psychic gifts. Vivian is the most amazing character. She can and will do what she wants and needs to get her desired outcome. She is open, motivated, and so sure and unsure at the same time. I love her developing relationship with Richard and her friends. The book is an amazing whodunnit with awesome characters trying to find their way and happiness in life. As always, the writing draws you in to the world created by Elizabeth Hunter and I enjoyed every minute. Loved this book and so excited for Evy's book. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.

Vivian, oh Vivian. murder, love, parents, friends, humor, tragedy, ... it's all here in this Obscure story.
When Vivians mother sees a murder, the three friends jump on the case. using their new skills as best they can (it's still a bumpy ride for some) to solves this new Vista de Lirio murder.
i can't and won't say much more because it's simply a delight to read and acompany these ladies as they solves the murder and how Vivian battles love, but what the heart wants ....
well done Elizabeth Hunter, another master piece.

Another outstanding paranormal story by Elizabeth Hunter. This is the 2nd book in a trilogy set in Palm Springs CA. The series involves three unexpected friends dealing with newly accessed paranormal/psychic gifts and a series of murders they are involved in solving. Glimmer Lake and Moonstone Cove are two other trilogies with similar plots. These series are all well worth reading too! Highly recommend all of them!

Great story!! This is Vivian's story.

Dr. Vivian Wei is 6 months pregnant and her whole life is changing, her parents decided to move into her home and help her with her pregnancy. When Vivian's woken up in the middle of the night by her mom, who just witnessed a horrific murder outside on the golf course that's her backyard, her empathy picks up on her moms terror and fear. Vivian immediately calls her friend, Sheriff Jon Marcos for help, he knows all about the three women's gifts. But when the cops in her part of town take one look at the sketch that her mother helped compile, they aren't convinced because it looks like Robert Redford.

Vivian knows that her mom is telling the truth. So the girls start investigating regardless. Vivian finds a men's wedding ring by the scene, when she goes to the club to return it, the man was panicking that she found it close to the scene, Vivian felt his emotions loud and clear.

When a body is found in the pond near her house, they find out that this is the second death in 2 months. Even though the first death was of a heart attack, the women are certain that they are connected.

When they start piecing things together, the 5 people who run the school Booster Club, are the ones doing these murders. Evy sees the third "accident" before it happens after talking to 3 of the members. She saw someone getting shot and killed. Vivian calls the Sheriff again, but he's not convinced that the first death is involved. So the women go to warn the next person, just in case.

A few days later, the woman they warned is shot, but she listened to them by driving a vintage million dollar car that can't be sold to just anyone. Now the women are trying to find the car to link the Booster Club to these murders.

A must read!

Can't wait for the last book in October to come out

What a great second book in the Vista de Lirio series. It has a wonderful loving family dynamic, being Vivian and her parents, a romance that Vivian is eager to get on with, but not knowing if it's the right time, and lets not forget the trio of crime fighting psychics. I'm telling you, this book has everything you could possibly want, and to top it off, it was written by an awesome author who knows her stuff.

We are introduced to Vivian's parents, who by the way, are some awesomely written characters, and you really want to meet them. We already know Richard, Michael and the rest of the gang, but we get to know Richard just a tad more, and the way this has been done, Vivian and Richard just make a really cute couple.

So now we get the the murder mystery. As is usual for Elizabeth Hunter, we are given a really good book, with a great story line, and some really well thought out characters. The Booster Club characters are some pieces of work, and through the whole mystery you keep asking yourself why?

It is also a book that has an amazing friendship circle, that you wish you could be a part of. The three ladies are a combination of hilarious, with Sergio, Dean, the twins and Paco, topping off the greatness. I have never wanted to go to California, but if there was a neighbourhood like that, sign me up.

I am very interested in the next installment, which we know will be Evy's book, and the kind of murder mystery will unfold then. In the meantime, sink your eyes into this delectable offering, because I flew through this it was so good.

Vista de Lirio just might be becoming my favorite of Elizabeth Hunter’s PWF series. With more of the quirky, slightly dark charm that made me so love its predecessor, Mirror Obscure is another tale of intrigue, murder, and humorous light mayhem (with a little romance for extra fun).

Vivian Wei has a lot on her plate: she’s six months pregnant, her parents might be turning their visit into a permanent residence in her home, she’s still got to get a handle on her new psychic powers, she’s short one assistant at her dental practice, and her mother might have witnessed a brutal murder more or less in their backyard. The only problem? Despite her mother’s certainty, there’s no evidence of a crime.

I absolutely loved the plot twists in this story. Vivian, Julia and Evy have a LOT to uncover, and each new reveal sent me into a whole new spiral of guessing. It’s a great mystery, and I loved watching the story unfold from the perspective of a very pregnant heroine, who’s save-the-day actions must now accommodate challenges like frequent bathroom breaks and difficulty fitting in cars. I also really enjoyed her relationship developments; there was something deeply sweet about how the story events impacted her relationship with both her parents, and with Richard. (Honestly, no one writes characters and human connections quite like EH does!)

I’m so happy to have had the chance to read an early copy of this book, and can’t wait for the sequel!

Mirror Obscure is the second book in the Vista De Lirio Mysteries, featuring strong women of middle age who are intelligent, capable, and confident. All our fabulous females are still adjusting to their new psychic powers and building their friendships with each other. Vivian Wei, the dentist, empath, and pregnant single mom-to-be is juggling all of that, plus her parents have moved in with her. Vivian is handling it all. Until her mother thinks she's witnessed a murder.

This possible crime brings Julia and Evy back into the picture as the three delve into the mystery. Bring on Richard from the previous book, whose past was a core part of that mystery, and he is the ultra handsome and swoony romantic interest for Vivian. And when I say he's swoony, let me tell you, HE's SWOONY! He's older too. I was happy to read he was in his early 60s. I love reading about happiness finding people in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. And these three females are bringing me joy!

The story has a cast of super snobby rich people, the crazy alpaca is back, Dean and Sergio still manage to be hosts with the most, and the ghosts are still acting up. Our girls must get sneaky, brave, with just a touch of crazy to get to the bottom of what looks suspiciously like a conspiracy. You must read this cozy yet romantically hot mystery.

Thank you to Elizabeth Hunter and Valentine PR for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

I was ready for something different when this popped onto my Kindle, so I was excited to jump back into the world of Vista de Lirio and the three women who make up this oddball crime solving team. The second book focuses on Vivian, our pregnant, empath, Dentist and her life while trying to solve a murder her elderly mother saw on the golf course behind her house.

The dialogue and banter between the ladies in these books is absolutely wonderful. I crack up listening to them discuss their gifts with one another and weigh in on their mid life lives. I really enjoyed getting into Vivian's head more since in the first one she seems a lot more reserved and skeptical. She comes into her new abilities in this book and her character grows so much confidence.

Dean and Sergio are still some of my all time favorite characters, but each character in their inner circle is top notch. The storyline is unique and really touches on the lives of the rich in a bit of a satirical way. It's a book than anyone will enjoy and was just right for me in the moment. I liked that it had a little romance, but the mystery storyline was our focal point.

Double Vision was where we met all the characters that reside in Vista de Lirio. It began with Julia's story and has continued with Vivian's in Mirror Obscure.
I loved the "realness" of Vivian's life: The reality of pregnancy at an older age. Older parents who have moved in permanently. Maybe?? Her mother's medical issues that come to light after witnessing a murder. Maybe?? The doubts that Richard is sincere with lustful thoughts about an extremely pregnant Vivian. Her careful life has been turned upside down with all of those issues and then the newly acquired psychic ability of feeling people's emotions are tossed into the mix. Vivian is exhausted.
The unlikely friendship of Vivian, Julia and EV continues in Mirror Obscure. They are all learning how to live with their new gifts and the growing circle of friends that surround them, solving murders and trying to live in some normalcy. I love the eccentric "family" that live in Vista de Lirio. I love Richard's sincerity and his unwavering, quiet doggedness. He is just lovely.
Mirror Obscure is full of romance, mystery, a little steam, murder and a baby!
Elizabeth Hunter has again left me with a grin on my face.

This book somehow had me feeling both cozy and also on edge. These characters are well-rounded, practical, playful and endearing. No one’s playing silly games in this budding romance, instead we see fully-realized personalities who stay true to themselves and go for what they want in life. No ridiculous risks while our main characters search for killers - just people (who I honestly want to befriend) are rolling with the punches and trying to help others while maintaining their sanity. There’s some heat and suspense which kept me curious and engaged in the story while the writing style sort of cocooned me in a safety net so I never felt overly stressed about any of the events. Just a lovely read. I was lucky to get an early version to review and Elizabeth Hunter did not disappoint. This series remains consistently charming and I can’t wait to read more about Evy’s story in the final book!

I've started this review multiple times and there don't seem to be words for me to describe Mirror Obscure. I've read every book Elizabeth Hunter has written and like all the others, it sucked me in quickly and I was immediately transported to Vista de Lirio, California.

Vivian is one of the most relatable characters I've met in a book. She is trying to have a relationship with her parents while pregnant and dealing with a significant other...although I can't say I've dealt with the intensity that comes with being an empath. She tries to juggle it all while trying to solve a murder mystery...don't we all do that?

The book was over before I knew it and I'm really excited for the next installment to come out. In the meantime, I'll be diving in to Mirror Obscure again.

I missed Vista de Lirio and the shenanigans in the community. I was so happy to revisit and read Vivian’s story. Poor Vivian is struggling with living with her parents, and very pregnant. One evening her mom claims to have witnessed a murder!
I love how relatable Vivian is and I really enjoyed getting to see how her skills are progressing.
I laughed out loud so many times while reading.
The author has written a mysterious novel filled with romance and comedy. I especially loved how Vivian and her friends come together to help her. I’m looking forward to reading Evy’s story.

✨Special thanks to Valentine PR for the ARC.
