"Mere Natkhat Daant" (My Naughty Teeth) is a hindi picture book that introduces your child to high frequency hindi words including colors, numbers, objects, and verbs. This short story follows a drooling toddler's day from morning through bedtime as he navigates the sensations and challenges of teething. All the while, his naughty teeth dig into all kinds of things and get him in trouble! The book is written in the devanagri script along with a transliteration for the comfort of adults who may not be fluent readers of the hindi language. Beautifully illustrated with elaborate and vibrant visuals to stimulate and engage babies and toddlers, this book provides many additional opportunities for labelling and building vocabulary for common places and objects at home. A helpful glossary at the end allows for children and adults to review what they have learned. Take your bilingual little one on an adventure that normalizes their teething troubles while introducing them to functional hindi words that they can hear and use every day.
I'm learning Hindi, and saw this on my instructor's recommendations for kids. This is a cute book, and is perfect for my 18 month old. It was a bit hard to translate though, as it is in poetic format.
