Celia was born and raised as a Neoluddite, in an insular, anti-technology community. However, her comfortable life is disrupted when she finds herself in an arranged marriage to a much older man. Seeing no other alternative, she escapes from the only community she has known her entire life. On her journey she meets a man who she would have never believed she would dare to look to for help: a robot. Despite having scorned technology her entire life, Celia finds herself strangely drawn to this android who is more human than she could have ever imagined.
This book was a wonderful read whose biggest issue is that I want more from the world and the characters! Celia and Hollis are lovely characters and their interactions were always sweet and a lot of fun. I would have loved to read more about simple day-to-day life with them!
This future society where robots are regularly integrated in human life is fascinating and plausible, especially with the distinction of utility robots versus sentient ones like Hollis and Era. The Neoluddite society was intriguing, and I wish there was a bit more time spent in it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I just wish there was more of it!
