What a fantastic way to finish off The Image Project series. I’m sad to see it go. This series felt like gold glitter, sexy Chicago nights and all the fun drama we come to Desire for. This third book focused so much on honesty and trust and comes really hits us early on how important any lacking of it will be a problem to our characters. Katherine front loads so much of the conflict which I appreciate but flawlessly keeps the secret from our hero as he and our heroine spend more time together and she gets the opportunity to get to know the Real him (never mind that he’s been Sexiest Man of the Year two years in a row! His time with her has been in disguise!) Katherine’s writing in this series gave me the fun flirty Sex and the City vibes from her Blaze days, the Desire drama with loads of brown woman bad bitch energy and I adored it. Can’t wait for her next series!
Hidden identity makes for a challenging relationship. When the secret gets out before you can explain yourself, you have a mess to work through. Both characters have issues in their pasts that make honesty and trust issues for them. I enjoyed the way they worked through their problems and came together to see if what they thought they had was real.
Paisley is gearing up to tell her boyfriend that she's pregnant, the same night that he tells her that he's been living under an assumed name and is actually rich, famous and leaving.
Why I started this book: Fated Mates podcast episode.
Why I finished it: Short story. And I need to remember that I love the way these ladies talk about romance books, but our tastes are different and I don't always love their favorites.
Not what I wanted. I wanted "this guy I've been seeing is secretly a celebrity and now we have to figure out how to merge our worlds and make a life together." Instead, this book is 75% secrets and lies and internal monolog angst about not yet coming clean about those lies, because the hero had a big lie about who is was, so the heroine had to have a big lie so they were even and he could be just as hurt and she just as guilty. Ugh.
This was a good book, it took awhile for the plot to come together. The h was hypocritical to demand honesty from the H when she kept the pregnancy a secret. She was devastated when she learned the true identity of the H but she lied by omission. The plot dragged on too long before she revealed her pregnancy then the ending felt rushed.
Can you imagine dating and living with your favorite Chris (Helmsworth, Pine, Evans) for 6 months but he’s in disguise with a beard and dyed hair and colored contacts. They day you realize you’re pregnant is the day he comes clean and says “yes, I am Chris Evans, but we’re cool, right?” That’s the premise.
Just Over The Top. Someone With Trust Issues Meet A Guy And Asks Him To Move In Within Days. Sleep With Him For Months And Not Recognize Him As A N A List Actor When Fans In The Street Do. Really!!! On Top Which A Week Before Halloween Til A Week Before Christmas Don’t Make 5 Weeks. I Skimmed A Lot Of This And Was Still Plain Silly, Never Had An Epilogue Make Less Sense.
