My match-making mother tortured my omega sisters in pursuit of her kind of happily-ever-afters and generous dowries. So when my heat starts abruptly, I know the posh hell that’s coming. My marriage is arranged. Without me.
Too bad for mum, I take after my crime-savvy sister. I won’t ever be some pack’s omega, some alphas’ obedient little wife. I’d rather fake it as a beta--and take my chances outside the gilded cage.
With fake beta identity documents, heat suppressants and my pet snake, I disappear into the night. An enterprising girl like me can make it on my own. But when Grey Akiva, the head of Akiva Security, catches me stealing, he can’t resist turning into my brutal white knight.
Determined to save me from a life of crime, the sexy former SEAL gives me a choice: a year at Akiva Academy–aka his brutal military school for mercenary assholes–or jail. Worse yet, he recruits his two SEAL besties to help out. The twins Khyler and Benedict are gorgeous, maddening, and my new roommates.
Will my omega nature make me cave to these three alluring, dangerous men trying to reform me, or will I beat them on their own playing field? The game is on.
I loved the first few Steele sister stories but these last few I couldn't get passed incongruent actions or scenes that took me out of the stories of made me roll my eyes. Here Cyan gets assaulted & suffers a concussion as well as a gash that bleeds down her face. After lying she's fine, despite physical evidence to the contrary, it's ignored & disappears from one paragraph to the next. She isn't allowed rest in 24 hours & is forced to perform hard training right away. These are men that protect, have some medical training and are security for civilians in need yet are clueless with her. They expect her to behave & perform @ their level somehow & hurt her for her own good. She is blackmailed, intimidated & gaslighted into going with them. This is a 20 yr old girl! They are grown men! They may have soft thoughts but no one else know this especially her so her being hot for her bullies is cringe & sad. No one cares for her life story only what they can make of her to their own standard. Like she's a thing. Even their thoughts I getting an omega is like she's a thing. It's cringe that this girl can't help that she drawn to icky men that mistreat her & she'll be ok with it. Too bad shes the asphalt of their road to emotional growth.
Cyan is not your typical omega. When her scent starts to bloom, she runs, refusing to be sold off. Passing herself off as a beta works like a charm until she finds herself in an academy, where betas and alphas are trained to protect omegas.
Now keeping her omega nature a secret is becoming increasingly hard to do, especially with her budding attraction to 3 sexy alphas. Can Cyan trust them with her secret?
I love that Cyan doesn’t back down and sticks up for herself. Not to mention she’s strong and sassy. I love the alphas…gimme a twin sandwich any day 🔥🔥🔥. It’s a slow to medium burn, but once it gets going it’s smokin.
If you love sassy omegas, sexy alphaholes, and a fantastic story that’ll keep you hooked, Lethal Heat is your jam.
I liked the story...for the most part but, every time I got into the story, an error would throw me off and tick me off because I know from experience that Alex is better than that.
Overall, the story flowed well, with little lag.
May, I don't have a ton of experience with her books, although I have read a couple other books...I may give her a go later.
★2.5/5! ehh it was alright, finished it ten minutes ago and can not remember a thing about it. didn’t like the last 30% of the book and got a bit boring in the middle. I loved Cyan, the mouth on that girl is perfection- love sassy woman. the men were just there to be fair, Cyan definitely carried the book.
Unpopular opinion? I don’t like human omegaverse it’s just weird to me? shifter omegaverse IS EVERYTHING (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
Cyan is an omega, but she's not the quiet and homely omega that pack wants. But most of all her role is not staying at home and breed children. So when her scent starts marking her as an omega, she runs from her mother who has arranged a pack to buy her, only to end up in an academy where betas and alphas are trained to protect omegas. She needs to keep her status a secret, but it's hard with Grey, Benedict and Khyler always around her. She needs to decide if she trusts them enough with her secret and if they are worthy keeping around.
I love how Cyan doesn't bow to anyone, but instead fight back. She's string and she wants to break the rule that put omegas as weak princesses that need to be saved.
I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
Loved this concept from both of these authors! I just love a strong willed female lead. And they deliver with Cyan.
I connected with her from the start. One rebel heart to another. I also liked she had her own opinions.
So the basis of the story since she is an Omega she is expected to be a certain way. But she does not feel the same. So when she is sold to an Alpha pack, she makes the reasonable choice and runs.
But honestly who catches her is everything. I loved these Alphas and felt they made a perfect fit.
Sometimes what you think you least want, can turn out to be just what you need.
I like it, that each sister of the Bonds of Steele Omegaverse is different, and comes with another set of problems/struggles. Even the situations are different each time.
So, Cyan is an omega with her own life plans and thoughts. She doesn't want to be sold off by her mother to some wealthy alpha pack, and be just an at home omega and bear children for them. So, the moment she manifested her omega scent, she knows she can't be discovered by her mother and runs off to Las Vegas and fakes her status as a beta with the help of her sister. But due to her unruly, illegal behavior, she meets Grey Akiva and his packmates, the twins Khyler and Benedict. Grey forces her into attending the Robur Academy, where betas and alphas are militarily trained to protect omegas.
So, this predicament makes it difficult for her. She has to keep her omega status hidden, without getting caught. And survive the daily schedule. Of course, there is attraction that builds between her and the Akiva pack. Generally, staying there changes her life and makes it harder to keep her secret. But can she trust the Akiva pack?
So, the story is turbulent from the start. I like Cyan, though I don't agree with all of her actions and her thinking. I do understand, that she wants to be free. But the way to assure that is questionable. So, I love how she changes at Robur Academy and find a purpose in life. And then there are the guys. The twins are especially great. Grey is a little difficult.
In general, the story has it all. Action, love, and steam (medium burn). It was good to read, but not perfect. So, I had some logical issues. And I didn't like how it ended. I wanted to see Jason brought to justice. Sure, it was implied, that he would be caught or at least they plan to do so, but I wanted to see a satisfying conclusion. That wasn't it for me. But in the love department it was well solved.
I loved this book. For me it was definitely a bit of a different version of the typical Omegaverse books that I've read. The main female character Cyan, wasn't the typical oh save me, I can't protect myself type omega. She was running away to keep from being sold into what she considered slavery with an arranged marriage to a pack.
Although then comes in Grey, Benedict, and Khy. After Cyan, ran to her older sister in Vegas to get suppressants for her heat and a new identity, she then ran again and found trouble. Part of that trouble included Grey and his two friends. They were drawn to Cyan but didn't know who or what she was as she was identified as a Beta rather than Omega with her new identity. So to keep her close, Grey essentially blackmailed Cyan into going to "Brutal Academy". The first night Cyan loses her meds and ends up sneaking out, but the twins follow and find out what but not WHO she really is. From there things escalate.
Cyan has adventures she never expected and all three men fall for a woman they didn't know that they needed but there is still a secret that they don't find out until closer to the end when Cyan is taken and they have to save her. While Grey, Benedict, and Khy find out that Cyan was their own runaway Omega that they had been planning to marry all along, they don't tell Cyan and let her go back home.
By the end of the book, this pack finds out that they are made for each other and Cyan finds out that the ones she had been running from were the ones she found and needed to not only keep her safe but to help her truly grow.
Lethal Heat by May Dawson and Alex Lidell is part of the Bonds of Steele Omegaverse but don’t let that fool you—this isn’t your everyday omegaverse story! This book packs quite the bunch with a feisty omega on the run and the men that try to tame her…only to fail and fall under her spell.
I absolutely loved how amazing Cyan was as out heroine! Witty, feisty and full of spunk this girl isn’t your average run of the mill sweet and obedient Omega waiting to be saved or for her alphas to find her—oh no, she’s so much more! On the run from her family to avoid being sold to the highest bidder in the way of an arranged marriage she heads to her sisters house for help…and instead lands herself right in the path of three sexy alphas.
Grey, Benedict, and Khyler assume Cyans a Beta based on the suppressants she’s taking, but that doesn’t stop them from being drawn to Cyan and captured by her uniqueness—and as her actions aren’t exactly by the book she soon finds herself blackmailed by Grey into going to a special family academy for Betas and Alphas. But you’ll soon learn that where Cyan goes, trouble quickly follows and as usual, chaos ensues as secrets are revealed and discoveries are made and are trouble seeking omega just can’t seem to stop running…so the question is, will put three sexy domineering alphas be able to catch her? ;)
This story was absolutely amazing and full of the perfect amount of heat, humor and suspense to keep you utterly captivated as a reader! This duo definitely knows how to craft the perfect story! See for yourself by grabbing this one today!
When Cyan presents earlier than expected as an Omega, and knowing that her mother already has a Pack lined up for marriage, she makes her escape. She takes off for Vegas for her ‘criminal’ older sister’s pack. Once there she gets help securing a fake beta identity document, heat suppressants, and reclaims her sister’s pet snake as her own. Then immediately finds trouble. Grey Akiva, the head of Akiva Security catches her stealing and after rescuing her from an attack, makes it his mission to save her from a life of crime. Save her from herself. It’s purely for her benefit, not that she has captured his attention. So, he gives her a choice: attend one year at Akiva Academy–a brutal military school for mercenaries or jail. Even better she will be attending with his two packmates, former SEAL twins Khyler and Benedict. To her surprise as much as she hates her circumstances, she wants to prove that an Omega can be an important part of a team and can become a force in their own right to help other Omegas. She just has to do this as a pretend beta. They can’t find out her secret or her plans will be over.
I loved Cyan’s character arc. She went from being a spoiled, reckless brat to a determined, protective woman on a mission. The story itself was a good idea but could have benefited from more development. It felt rushed. Cyan was assaulted and injured, yet there was no follow-up. The twins lacked depth and Grey wronged Cyan but was given no real redemption arc. It's much more satisfying when forgiveness is earned. It adds validity to the relationship.
Obedient Omega? Yeah right! Our FMC Cyan is certainly a challenge! Avoiding an arranged marriage her mother sorted, the minute she starts to feel her pre-heat Cyan bolts and exudes to try and pass herself off as a beta 😳 it doesn’t help that her rather reckless and criminal tendencies soon attract attention from an alpha with a white knight tendency who thinks he’s helping a fiery wayward beta 😬 faced with jail or signing up to ‘Brutal Academy’ to be trained in protective services, Cyan has no choice but to join! Whilst at the academy she certainly begins to develop mixed feelings for three alphas: dominant pack leader Grey who is also her guardian, and then twins, bright and bubbly Benedict and dark and broody Khyler 🙈 boy does she have these alphas twisted in knots! Unfortunately her secret status might just drive this pack apart and risk her whole future….Cyan just wants to help other omegas who feel trapped and are in danger of being used! There’s a lot of misunderstandings, hurt and danger throughout this one - and some education of attitudes! But they might just make it in the end after all 😄 There are some 🔥🔥scenes on this one including a twin sammich, although this is more story centric! 🙂 This standalone is part of the Bonds of Steele shared omegaverse world.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "LETHAL HEAT" I love this series his Cyan's story she's sassy, feisty, strong, an Omega ready to go into heat she won't be like her sisters being an arranged marriage with an Alpha to be an obedient wife no but her she gets her fake Beta ID her pet snake & runs she's resourceful she can make it on her own. Grey Akiva head of Akiva Security a former Seal catches Cyan stealing tells her she has to MI, utary school for mercenary *ss*oles or jail & if course his two besties who are twins Khyler & Benedict are her roommates. Cyan being an OMEGA is finding it hard be around these gorgeous irritating men this academy is for Betas & Alpha's to protect Omegas she has to keep her secret from them it's hard with Grey, Khyler & Benedict around her all the time. I definitely recommend to get this interesting, entertaining, humorous story I love how Cyan won't back down from anyone will get guys figure her secret will they get a HEA you must this well written story to see what happens so well worth the read I loved it the characters were so great. AWESOME AWESOME MUST HAVE READ!!!!!
I want to start off by saying that this book was recommended to me as part of a series but able to be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this book a lot, but it feels like it ended abruptly and too fast considering the detail and length of everything before the last few chapters. So, while I was very good… I’m honestly immensely disappointed. I wanted more groveling, but she gave in WAY too quick for my taste, and then the last half of chapter 38 until the epilogue is so rushed and missing so much information it cheapens it and downplays all of the FMCs pain. Not to mention, after what happened there’s not much to suggest she is traumatized like she supposedly is. She forgave them for what happened way too fast, and then there’s hardly any information on what they go through together to work past everything. It’s just like “I’m traumatized and don’t think I’ll ever be able to trust alphas again” then hardly more than a few paragraphs later she’s forgiven them and falls back into their arms. It ruined the book for me, and because of that I likely won’t be reading the rest of the series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’m not normally one to pick omegaverse books. Not because I don’t like them, but because they aren’t usually my first choice in reading and they don’t always have much of a plot. But this is a great read. The plot is definitely there, and the characters are really good. I adored Cyan from the very start. Sneaky little card shark and escape artist that she is, with an attitude all her own. She has a chip on her shoulder and enough bravado to prove herself. As for Grey and the twins, I actually really liked them too. Their stern yet playful demeanors and the way the authors had the twins on the same level as Cyan with the training made them the perfect cohorts when she needed them. Yet with their previous experience and having Grey as their alpha made for a uniquely different relationship with Cyan. The whole thing was intriguing from the start and had me sucked into the story right away. If this is the type of stories I will get reading the other standalone books in this series then I will definitely be reading the rest of them as well.
Cyan runs away from her family, mostly her unemotional mom, because she doesn't want to be sold into a marriage. She gets into car accident and tries to run away. However, the person behind the wheel is one of the instructors at Brutal Academy. He gives Cyan a choice to come to the academy for a year to straighten out or go to jail. She chooses the academy because really her jail is arranged marriage. I had a hard time liking Cyan but once she makes a choice to grow-up she actually becomes amazing. Definitely not a typical submissive omega story. It does have some triggers. The men in the story were ok for me. They also had some growing up to do and that happened once they lost Cyan. The only time they met Cyan's needs was during her heat. Otherwise, the men didn't quite understand that she is also a person and deserves experiences and her own choices. I really liked the ending and how the men gave her a choice which she really needed. I also liked how the story didn't end with her being pregnant!
I really enjoyed this book. I haven’t read any of the others in the series but it didn’t play to much of a part, I think it actually enhanced the book. I had no idea Cyan was a Steele, until closer to mid way. I usually don’t read standalone’s even if they are a part of a series because I love getting to know the female lead character, reading about their growth as a character is hard to do when reading a standalone. This one was different. We got to read how much they grew as a character that didn’t feel rushed. I enjoyed the whole hiding her omega designation, and didn’t let her omega status stop her from doing what she wanted. I thought it was clever how she was interacting with the very men she was running from. It was a cute twist. I do wish she pushed back on them a little harder at the end but the book was coming to a close and she needed to get happily ever after on. So, I enjoyed this book, it didn’t feel like it was to rushed, the plot was described well and everything turned out great for her. I think I’ll read the other books too.
Lethal Heat by Alex Lidell and May Dawson is the fourth book in the Bonds of Steele Omegaverse series. I have loved all the books in this series. And have enjoyed reading them by the different authors. We meet Cyan who is an omega I would hope I would be! She's sitting at a poker game taking everyone's money when she realizes her heat is coming. And if you've read previous books in the series, the one person she doesn't want to find out about her heat is her mother. So she goes to a sister. She ends up running into Grey, literally, who is a head instructor at a tactical training school for Alphas and Betas. I love Cyan. I loved Grey, Benedict, and Khyler. No cheating. No bullying. HEA. I would give this book a five star, but it needs some editing. Theres a spot where the spelling of a MMC is spelled wrong! It threw me right out of the book for a minute. But, I loved the book. Can't wait to read the next one.
Easily the best book in this shared universe so far. Cyan is an absolute riot of a character. I was a little disappointed to see her fall for the plot so easily at the end especially when it seemed like she was really on to something. Despite that, this book is really well developed and has a nice balance of heat, plot, relationship development and character development. I spent a lot of this one on the edge of my seat.
This one has a lot of references to the older sister Jade and her group, but that book was cut out of the shared universe before release (the author pulled out) so I don’t know if we’ll ever get a chance to see the story there.
This one still has some inconsistencies with the prior books in terms of the fundamental dynamics of the world, I went over this ad nauseum in two of my prior reviews though. It wasn’t really any one of the authors fault though, they just all needed to come to consensus on a few things about biology and societal norms/laws.
Cyan Steele wants nothing more than to live life on her terms. If the terms hover in the gray realm of respectability, she’s okay with that. Being strong-armed to attend Brutal Academy, Cyan’s natural rebelliousness keeps her instructors on their toes and Cyan walking a dangerous line. If her omega status gets out, she’ll be back in Momma Steele’s clutches and an arranged marriage looming.
Grey Aviva is drawn to the little beta troublemaker and decides to keep her close by offering her a deal, a year at Brutal Academy or he can hand her over to the police for her crimes. Watching his pack mates get drawn into her orbit, Grey tries to keep everyone out of hot water. Until one phone call changes the game.
This standalone in a shared universe is sure to entice readers with snark, flirts, and action. A nice little mystery coupled with fun hints of a rom-com, this book is definitely worth the read.
3.75 I really liked the storyline, but felt like it got bogged down in the details. The book might still have been 4 stars if certain tropes weren't also present.
Elements (tropes?) I can't stand in books that were present in this one: 1. Spanking as discipline. All in all it only really happened once, (he thought and threatened it more than once) and in the context of the story it didn't bother me as much as it usually does, but I HATE it!!! 2. Power imbalance. This could probably be stated better, but there were many times in this book that it felt like she had absolutely no power over anything. I don't like this because it makes me feel helpless as the reader or annoyed because she isn't fighting against it as much as I want her to. Yes,yes, I understand that omega books are all about this power imbalance, but I've read a lot of these books and for the most part the alpha's are not unreasonable autocrats.
Ok i am loving the Bonds of Steel series of books and this is bar far my Fav to date, Cyan has the right amount of snark & sass whilst retaining a cetain amount of Vulnerability
This quote sums up Cyan beatifully - Grey palmed my waistline. I had a few knives tucked away there, hidden into sewn pockets. Who said home-ec classes at omega prep were just for the good boys and girls? Only a fool went into the kind of dens I regularly visited without any way to defend herself. I knew the moment Grey found my toys, because his muscles stiffened.
Gray - a typical overbearing, controling Alpha and Cyan pushes his buttons testing his resolve alot through out the book
Khyler and Benedict are the best brother sandwich with plenty of sizzle. They are not as overbaring as Gray but are definately in protective tough love mode.
Really enjoyable stand alone with plenty of storey content along with the sizzle and steam that you would expect.
Cyan has never been a fan of her role as an Omega for the simple facts that her only worth to her mother is the bride price her mother will get from the alphas who buy her and that Cyan has no choice in who she marries. Determined to set her own path and make her own choices, she runs away when her heat show signs of starting ending her single days. She quickly gets herself in trouble shortly after arriving at her sister's home and the story begins. Can an Omega survive the situation she finds herself in? Will the experience force her to face her weaknesses and change or will she be able to change the views of how others see Omegas? Will she find the love she didn't know she was searching for? If you enjoy strong, sassy women who stick up for themselves and spicy RH romance with strong alphas, you'll enjoy this book. Happy reading!
It’s great to meet another Steele sister, these girls sure do know how to make a great story of meeting their new packs.
Cyan is a rebellious Steele, she doesn’t want to be tied to any Alpha and put into a gilded cage so when her perfume starts and signs of her first heat hit, she makes a run for it. Only her rebellious attitude soon puts her on the radar of Grey and his pack.
Grey’s saviour complex has him wanting to help this troubled ‘beta’ back onto an honest path, little does he know that Cyan will change the path for him and his pack.
We get great character development from Cyan as the story progresses and you can really tell she starts to group and stops acting like the spoilt omega she truly hates.
This is a slow to medium burn but when things get started we are treated to some great scenes with the twins.
Cyan isn’t the typical omega. She doesn’t want to be tied down to an alpha, so the moment she starts to go into heat she takes off. She had a dream of freedom and a life all her own. Little does she know she’s only putting herself in the sites of another pack.
She ends up pretending to be a beta, to hide the fact that she’s an omega. She finds herself in a school with alphas and betas where they learn to protect omegas. She finds herself struggling to keep her secret when she catches the eye of three alphas.
Cyan is sassy as can be and I absolutely love it! She’s not like most omegas you read about. She stands up for herself and holds her own when needed.
Those alpha’s are just as easy to love! I’ll take a twin sandwich please! 🥵
I’d say this is a slow to medium burn, but once it gets steamy it is delicious!
Cyan is an independent omega with her life pre-planned for her. She cannot seem to fall in line. With a pre-arranged marriage in the works, she finds herself unable to escape one poor decision after another. One of those unlucky decisions being her in front of the ultra alpha group Akiva. As she attempts to hide her omega-ness she find herself drawn to this dangerous and sexy pack of Alpha-holes. Will she be able to keep the truth from them? The slow burn is smoldering and super sexy I find myself hoping this story is not a stand-alone and we’ll here more about this FMC and the side characters too. If you love omega verse stories with hot alpha holes and sassy but funny FMC’s, this story is right up your alley. I was turning pages wishing for a happy ending. Read to find out more!
Loved everything about this except the part where she easily forgave them at the end. There was no groveling involved. I wish she made them suffer a bit, especially Grey. It also bothered me that she didn't feel traumatized that much after what she went through. I didn't like that she gave in easily just because of her heat. It was a good thing to have a tough FMC, though there were scenes where I wish she would apply that toughness instead of being a needy omega. Maybe if the book was longer, I would not feel like the ending was rushed. Overall it was an interesting book to read in my opinion as it had more plot than sm*t.
Cyan, one the Steele Omega girls, has continued to rebel against her mother and now finds herself in desperate need of an out. As the story progresses her escapes leads to madness, a change in perception leads to sadness, and she may find that actions taken could ruin her gladness. Lethal Heat shook the world with the changes that occurred in the characters. This book is right up my darker romance alley, throw in a revers harem omega on top of that and I couldn’t stop devouring the pages. Reader discretion advised due to dark subject matter and/or possible triggers.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Not bad at all! But there were a noticeable amount of spelling errors of all things. I mean, that’s not an uncommon occurrence but still.
The other thing was that I could see the plot twists from a mile away- which again, not something that’s uncommon, but still a bit of a drag.
Being honest, this wasn’t awful, but I can’t say I was thrilled with it either. I think I really appreciated the boot camp independence aspect but I DNF so I don’t even really know for sure if the writer ever covers the FL killing it at the academy or if the rest of the novel is spent hunting down the omega kidnappers and putting the puzzle pieces together on who the ‘bad guy’ is.
Eeh. Probably won’t pick up another one since I couldn’t seem to get past the 50% mark. 🫠💀
So my biggest issue with the book was Cyan. I just didn’t like her character. She is stupid and selfish. She damages her sisters car and then her other sisters boyfriends car for what felt like no reason. The author tries to make her seem smart, but there is no evidence to back it up, and she just comes off as a moron. She steals for no real justifiable reason. And I felt like the author tried to copy/imitate things from a bunch of other books that I’ve read, but it didn’t work. In short it was like watching a second rate film. You know the ones where it seems like someone tries to take a bunch of cool ideas and shove them in, but it just lacks so bad because there is no rhyme or reason. Anywho, I just couldn’t get into it and DNF.
