Alpha Claimed

Rate this book
Megan wants to be Alpha. She's strong, she knows she can lead her pack and her wolf is ready. First, she has to overcome a series of challenges to show the rest of the pack that she's worthy. But the biggest challenge might be her feelings for the current Alpha - and his second.

Orion and Elvin split up years ago because they wanted to father children and thought it would be too complicated trying to find a woman who would suit them both. Instead they became an Alpha and his second first, and the closest of friends second. But when Megan disrupts their carefully constructed order, it might be a chance to forge something new.

This is a standalone novella-length (around 20 000 words) story suitable for ages 18 and up told entirely from Megan's point of view and ends on a HEA. Content warning: this is a Spicy book with a capital S and includes graphic sex (MF, MFM, hints towards MM), anal, some violence, no bullying.

Hi! I never know what to write in these things but I guess I’ll just tell you a bit about myself and a bit about my personal writing ethos.

I live in Sydney, Australia. I’m a primary school teacher by day, but by night… I’m still a primary school teacher because I have marking. But after that, and after I feed my two cats and spend some time with my husband, I become Rosalie Spencer!

As a child, I fell in love with fantasy. Then, as a teenager, I fell in love with romance. Then, as a young adult, I fell in love with erotic fiction. It wasn’t too long after that I found my favourite sub-genre, fantasy reverse harem. But it wasn’t until I turned thirty that I decided to actually chase this dream of writing what I loved to read!

I think one of the reasons it took me so long to do this is because writers groups I’ve been in before have turned up their nose at fantasy, romance, and erotica, let alone all those three together. I’ve been in circles where they aren’t seen as ‘real’ writing even as separate genres, let alone together.

But.

I want to take you, (hopefully) my reader, to the highs and the lows of trying to love and lust after complicated people. I want you to feel their struggles with the many people they love, the flutter in their bellies when they confess their adoration, the weight of their past when it overwhelms them, the fire that grips them when they make love. I want to write erotic scenes so descriptive it feels like it’s happening to you. I want to write werewolves and vampires and elves loving with all of their heart, even though they’re scared.

I’m not sure if I succeed all of the time, but that’s what I want. And, really, I don’t see what’s low brow about that.

To chat, I can generally be found on Twitter, for free short stories check out that corner of my website or the various places I put them up!

Xo, Rosalie

This one was excellent (to my taste). For a novella, it isn't that short. We get to see enough of the world/pack, that we get a handle of what it is like. Though, it still isn't that fleshed out, that we get everything. Like there is a hierarchy and the typical designations (alpha/beta/omega). But it isn't explained, other than different traits (alpha=dominance, beta=worker/no clear traits, omega= soft-spoken/shy away from eye contact), if there are other differences in anatomy as well. So, I don't put it in the Omegaverse genre, because I don't have a clear context.

The connection between the characters is there. It has relationship building, with some struggles/issues.

So, I like it, that the FMC is an alpha, and not an omega. I see it rarely, that female leads are that dominant or even leading. The males have defined personalities and I like them both, too. I could get behind the reasoning. There is a plot as well, and the smut is also well written.

It has a HEA, though I wished to see a more fleshed out ending/little epilogue. But overall, it was good.

I want to be Alpha

I loved the push and pull between the challenging alpha, the current Alpha and his second. Their growing attraction makes preparing for the Alpha fight even more imperative. Megan has to decide whether to continue with the fight and risk losing her two potential closest friends and possible mates.

I was sweet, suspenseful, and steamy all at the same time.
