My to-do list is ever growing, but I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve started buying up the cul-de-sac to give my wives their own houses, and Ibseth is happy to be nesting, now that she’s pregnant with our first child.
But I still need to take out her half-brother, Ursenger.
And to do that, I will need help from the rest of the Gloom.
*Spoilers May Be Ahead* Another can’t put down volume of Backyard Dungeon that has me wondering where Logan Jacobs will take us next! The battle has been won but there’s are still things left unfinished. Already I am jonesing for the next volume that may not come for a bit. I can’t wait to see Eddie take over what’s left of the cuide sack but if he’s planning to buy up all the property then there could still be three to four future wives to look forward to. I hope this book gets many more reviews in hope that volume 6 will be published sooner rather then later!
I binge read all 5 volumes and I'm craving for more! It's extremely well written and the story just progresses so smoothly. The author has created a masterpiece
This series is a truely inspired idea with brilliant characters, a hidden magical underground world and plenty of friends, enemies and monsters for some action packed thrills and adventure.
And book 5 has a few new reveals, more character building and epic battles!. And with that tease of an ending, I'm definitely looking forward to more!
This was a great climax to the initial arc of the Backyard dungeon. The climatic battle against Ursinger was exciting and shows how far Eddie's group has come in becoming a dominant fighting force. The combining of the other Night Elf tribes and Grove Gnomes was fun and added an interesting component to the battle. Of course, Eddie prevails and gains an additional moniker but you'll have to figure out what it is. We are also able to see Eddie add an additional member to his surface family and we get to see how a new member is taking into the folds. The family expands as do both his dwellings and his problems as a new force has become involved and Eddie begins to see what that entails. With the ending of this arc, it will be interesting to see how it impacts his time and travels in the Gloom and what his next adventure will entail. I can't wait to venture back into the Gloom and the Backyard dungeon series to see what Mr. Jacobs has in store for us.
I am continually amazed at the storytelling skill of Logan Jacobs. Backyard Dungeon 5 is the best one yet. The Mad King must go, because he threatens the kindhearted Princes Isbeth, Elven First Wife to our hero, Eddie Hill. This book brings the story arc of the first five novels to a white-hot conclusion. Peace will come to the subterranean world of The Gloom, but only if Eddie succeeds and kills the Mad King who's in league with a nasty demon. Add a great battle, fallen comrades, magic and wordplay and semi-automatic rifles during magically enhanced bullets. Throw in hot wives, cookouts with steak and chicken and cold beer, a pair of monster dogs who are Eddie's devoted pets-- what's not to love? Highly recommend, adults only due to occasional spicy sex scenes and R-Rated language.
4.5. I liked this a little less than the last one, can't really say why. It's fair to say you know what you're getting with these books if you've read this far. Still recommend you keep reading!
**HEAVY SPOILERS**
Still here?
Seriously, these are end-book spoilers
ok
I think I wanted more story after the big confrontation in the book. Let our hero enjoy the results of 5 books worth of buildup more. I'm totally fine with how everything played out and like how it sets up future books. I just wanted... more celebration, more spoils of victory. Hell, there wasn't even any loot to speak of! Just because our MC is wealthy now doesn't mean he shouldn't get a reward for a life-defining accomplishment. There is no argument what he does in this book, is the most important thing in the series this far. Let the reader enjoy it with the MC a bit by writing about it :D.
Love these books, perfectly balanced. The MC doesn't have too many wives, so you're able to get invested in the characters and not worry if they'll be in the next book or just have a cameo. MC isn't over powerd and doesn't have amazing fighting skills so he counts on his warrior wives to watch his back. But he is badass with a rifle. If you're a fan of harem type books then I recommend this series.
It is quick, it is smooth, and it provides closure. That is all one can ask of a closing arc. This has potential as long as it does not fall into the trap of resting on its laurels. Keep the ideas fresh, keep the characters growing, keep it all moving forward and this will be a fantastic series
Eddie and his wives are being overjoyed to looking forward to welcome the first baby to their small family. Moving into the new house, train their new „dogs“ and meet with the lost dwarfs making their life pretty enjoyable if it weren’t for the mad chief. Will there be a chance to prevent the demon to take the body of the mad chief over, or will the Gloom fall to their enemies?
Pacing was solid, though there was a fair bit going on, setting up future issues and such. A lot of interesting surface conflict, as Ed bow isn't sure who he can trust completely. It'll be interesting to see how that unfolds.
Overall very nice, I'll look forward to the next installment.
This is the most interesting one of the series. With the action and other things, we have a great experience in the other world. The story can only grow and make a great experience for all of us to follow. The trouble at home is just going to get more interesting in the future.
As deep in the series as this is, anybody who's read the previous four books will already know where this one is heading. To try to avoid spoilers though I will simply say that battles were fought, friends are made, and some people die. I love these books by Logan Jacobs and I'm glad to have found this prolific author.
Excellent tale. This is an extremely enjoyable series filled with action, adventure and more than a bit of spice. The battle to kill the Mad King was incredible. I'm anxious for the next book!
This series is truly a joy to read every addition builds upon he last till you are voraciously consuming the pages! The concept is unique and fun, with a fantastic cast of characters! I eagerly await the next one!
I disliked that it ended. Awesome book. I cannot wait for a book 6. Did Owen find the rat? Did Eddie fight the demon lord. No spoilers, but the characters all had great depth.
This series just keeps getting better and better, with each subsequent book I get more excited for the next one, and more said that the next one isn't out yet whenever I finish one
With one pay-off completed, I can’t wait to see how the next is proposed, cause from the sound of things the next books are going to take us deeper and deeper into the dungeon!
This is Logan Jacob’s best series so far! I love the adventures of Eddie Hill! The evil king is dead but bigger baddies are still at play. And the over-world is getting more dangerous and interesting as well. Can’t wait for book 6!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I can never get to much of Backyard Dungeon! I hope this series goes on forever, with it's twists and turns and the little bits of stuff to come. I know this series can far surpass most others written by other writers. Please keep them coming.
Fast paced slice of life, above and below. 😉 A little lovin' and a little killin' evil and scary monsters. Eddie comes through without a scratch again AND gains another Sexy Girlfriend!
This series has a steady build, and a simple premise. I'm always happy to return to it. I most enjoy that it entertaining, without me needing a three page refresher. Looking forward to what comes next.
Five excellent books full of snarky and witty comments, brilliant story lines and descriptive scenery, close your eyes you can practically see it, would be happy to read more about the Backyard Dungeon and Eddy Hill.
This was fun and I'm psyched for the next. Only one minor criticism of the series thus far: My guy Logan needs to get someone to proofread for minor typing and grammatical errors. In the scheme of things, not a big deal. I enjoyed this book.
Logan Jacobs books are fantastic, I love this series and I can’t wait till he releases the next book. I enjoy the transitions between the Gloom and the human realm above. The main characters are fantastic and the interactions are fun.
As always these books are a great read and a fun story. So far I haven’t found a book by Logan that hasn’t been really enjoyable. All the books in this series move along at a good pace.
This is the last book in the series currently, but hopefully more will be written as I'm sure there are still adventures to be had and more exploring to be done
Eddie and company prepare for the final confrontation with the mad chief. At home the princess is ecstatic at the prospect of motherhood. Brock continues to be a dingus. And a new threat may have entered the neighborhood. Tom out
