The aim of all artists is to extend their skills and knowledge. How to Draw and Paint sets out to achieve this by providing the expert guidance needed to experiment successfully with the full range of subjects and media.

The information is provided by a team of leading experts, all well-equipped to answer the problems and needs of the amateur artists and bridge he gap between ambition and achievement.

How To Draw and Paint covers the most common visual themes: landscape and seascape, still life, nature (animals, birds, flowers, plants and trees), in all the most popular media - oil, acrylic, water-color, tempera and gouache, pencil, pen and ink - and analyses in depth the various problems and techniques involved in producing finished paintings and drawings.

Each painting and drawing in the book is illustrated in color at every significant stage to enable the artist or student to follow the work from conception to completion. The combination of these illustrations (over 1500) and the clear, concise text provides the reader with the means to progress confidently from one stage to the next whatever the medium or subject involved.
