What do you think?

Weird Travel #4
After Happy Ever After
“I’m quitting my job,” said the woman I was madly in lust with but had only just met. “What?” I spluttered. “But you are that job?” “I want to be someone else. Run away with me.” “But we just got back from India?” We had entered a tuk-tuk race as strangers, returning as unlikely lovers. ”This is supposed to be our Happy Ever After. Can’t we just enjoy it for a while?” “Don’t you want to see what’s after Happy Ever After? Let’s move to Istanbul. And I want to see Kurdistan.” Did she really want me to follow her to a region slipping into autocracy? To Turkey, a country our Government now explicitly recommended not to visit? And another it didn’t acknowledge as existing? “What’s happening?” I said. “Who are you?” She laughed. “Come with me and you’ll find out. It’ll be an adventure. And we can test this relationship.” I didn’t know then that she had a secret. It was why she was in such a rush. “Can I think about it?” I asked. “Sure.” She winked. “I’ll give you fifteen minutes...”
After Happy Every After is an unforgettable memoir of what happens when you run away with a stranger to try and turn lust into love.

I wrote this. It's a cracker. I might be biased.

Different than others in the series but still so good. I love Adams’s voice (and I 10000% wish I could remember conversations like he does).

Loved it!
This book wasn't how I imagined it would be but was really great
Adam Fletcher writes very well in an almost epistolary way (is that the word?). Reading it was like reading long, funny and sad letters from a friend. He is very self aware and searingly honest about both himself and Evelyn his girlfriend.
The description of the life and politics of Turkey were so interesting - and depressing.
Of course, I wanted a happy ending and I think I got it. Oh I do hope so. Now I shall wait for the next book!

Not what you'd expect
I'm a big fan of the Weird Travel series. However, all good things must come to an end and in my opinion this series probably should have concluded with book three. This book is more of a relationship memoir than a travel memoir, but unfortunately doesn't quite seem to fit well in to either category. I enjoy Adam's writing and look forward to whatever comes next, but perhaps a fresh project is the way forward.

Enjoyable Read
Really enjoyable book, fumny, sad and well written felt like I was there tagging along with their experiences.
If you enjoy reading about people and travel in a lighthearted "heavy" way this is a great book. Really enjoyed the previous book, hope there will be more.

After the 3rd book ends, Adam and Evelyn make a drastic decision to move to Istanbul for a few months to enjoy the scenery and to test their relationship.
Well, this book, tells us what happened, and just like his other “weird travel series”, I really enjoyed this one.
With all of his books I read, I learned something new about the interesting places he visited. Most of them, I had no clue where they were located. Luckily, we have a map of the world at home on a wall and I was able to locate them.
Oh, when I finished this last book, I subscribed to his newsletter and was sent a free book called Lost But Not Least: The Stories That (Almost) Got Away.

This was more of a relationship memoir than a travel memoir, which was a surprise, but was all the better for it. There were certainly interesting tales of the places visited but I found it particularly interesting to look at the development of, and problems of, a new relationship from the man's point of view.

Adams best yet
I really liked this new book. Different cultures, emotions, tied together by this most enjoyable author. Truly the story is a joy to behold, on so many levels. Adam is a great writer, a true natural story teller. I feel like I've been to Istanbul!
A great read.

Not what I was expecting but I loved it. A great story and well written. I loved following these two on this adventure at the start of their relationship, and seeing their relationships grow through the trip.

entertaining AND informative
An interesting look at Istanbul and especially the Kurdish situation. He is a fearless traveler and goes to weird out of the way places so the rest of us won’t have to!

VERY ENTERTAINING
The way Adam describes the places he's visited, the depth of detail , he brings it to life. I've enjoyed every one of his books that I've read so far. Looking forward to the next book to see what's happening with him and Evelyn.

More serious than his earlier "Weird Travel" books, but just as enjoyable.

I enjoyed it. Rather deep and introspective at times but well written. I was never in a hurry to put it down. Looking forward to finding out how the couple continue on their journey.

This book is engaging and feeds my addiction of travel and visiting other countries. I love the conversational and humorous writing style that feels more like a travel journal. Fletcher mixes cultural observations with honest reflection on love, uncertainty and commitment. It feels genuine as he doesn't romanticise everything; the challenges of travel and relationships are presented alongside the excitement.
