YOU SAVED ME FROM THE DARK AND NOW I'LL NEVER LET YOU GO
Michael I was supposed to be alone forever— so why did you have to come along? I spent my entire life trying to be something I'm not. I tried to be human, tried to fit into any street gang that would take me, tried to tough it in college. I'm built to be alone, and I curse the day you came to save me. You gave me kindness, gave me love, and this thing inside me broke it. And if I let it, I would have broken you too. I've watched you from afar, taken care of you from the shadows, worked to repay the debt I owe you. But you never could stay out of trouble. Someone has attacked you, tried to take you away from me again, and I won't let it happen. I'll find him, I'll kill him, and I'll protect you. But when I finally taste you, how am I supposed to let you go?
Bridget I was supposed to be alone forever— until I met you. Six years ago, you gave me hope. You looked at me as more than just my scars, saved me from the dark, and you kept me safe. But when I needed you the most, you left. You left me, Michael. And you promised me I'd never have to see you again. But things with us are never easy. An accident left me broken and bloody. You saved me, you healed me, and now, you say you're trying to protect me. But how can I be sure I can trust you again? How am I supposed to trust that you won't leave me this time, that the monster I saw six years ago won't return?

TRIGGER WARNING: Saints is a dark and twisted captive romance. Not for the faint of heart. Read the prequel novella Cynics, and find out this couple's happy ending in Saints. Dark themes, brooding bad boys, and plenty of violence guaranteed!
I have to be honest, I can’t say I liked this story. That is not to say the story is not good, it is. In fact it’s really good and the nihilistic feel that permeates the pages sinks into your soul, like the disease Michael believes he is infected with. This story is incredibly well written with deeply troubled, but still relatable characters that stay on your mind long after the story is over.
Luckily it is a HEA story, so that helps to alleviate some of that sadness that the story incites. I know this all sounds bad, but the truth is I connected so closely with these characters and I really was enthralled with the story. I highly recommend this book!.

I felt sad reading this book. Sad because the characters are quite remarkably broken, struggling with purpose and even a little nihilistic. That said, they are also beautifully addicted to each other - which actually redeems the story from falling into a tragedy and sweeps them up into a dark tale, but a HEA of sorts. If you are easily triggered - steer clear as there's some dark stuff in here, but not brutal or horrifying - just trigger-stuff (physical abuse, torture etc). Really good read.

Michael promised to stay away from Bridgett, but no matter what he is drawn to her, their pasts entwined and when trouble comes for his Birdie, Michael cant stay away and Bridgett doesn't want him to either. can these two lost souls finally find themselves? well written drama, angst, desires, dark themes and more.

Saints by Alice T Boone is the Saints and Cynics series. This continues the story of Bridget and Michael which started in the previous book 'Cynics'. Although Michael and Bridget are both broken people who find so much comfort in each other, Michael tries to distance himself from her. Michael feels that he isn't good enough for her and that he is trouble for Bridget. But neither can stay away from the other.
If you read the prequel Cynics, you know that Michael is obsessed the Bridget/Birdie and he pushes her away. When trouble comes for Birdie there is no way he will stay away from her.
This book is not for the faint of heart, both of the characters are damaged.

A fantastic, riveting read. Deliciously dark and dangerous. Not for the feint hearted. Great characters, and a well written storyline. Would recommend.

These books are written in an unsual way, it took me a little bit to get past the confusion. It's almost like stream of consciousness. That being said, Birdie and Michael are both very troubled, tragic characters. If you enjoy dark, tortured stories, theirs is definitely that. And there's a beauty in it. Overall, I enjoyed the story and it ends happily after everything. It's just a rough road getting there. If you have certain triggers, you may need to keep that in mind, but I would recommend.
