Amidst their continued search for something long since lost, Poseidon convinces his Queen to take a break and enjoy the first day of summer. What was meant to be a chance to rejuvenate and start the search again with cleared minds is soured when a mythical being threatens the Gulf waters. The King and Queen of the Seas turn to protecting their home and the unknowing mortals swimming within it.
**NOTE: Contains characters (Greek gods/goddesses included) from the Contemporary Mythos series. Story takes place DURING events in Poseidon (Contemporary Mythos 5) DOES contain Spoilers!**
An adult romance writer who has been writing since she could pick up a pencil. After the insanity of obtaining a bachelor’s and master’s degree in cybersecurity, creating worlds to escape to still ate at her very soul. She started writing FanFiction (which can still be found if you scour the internet 😉 ), and soon felt the need to get her original ideas on paper. And so the adventure began.
She lives in Colorado with her husband and two fur babies, and revels in an enemies to lovers trope with a slow burn.
Cordelia is struggling with thoughts of their daughter when Poseidon suggests a day at the beach. What follows is a great adventure with not only Poseidon and Cordelia, but another favorite couple from the Mythos series. I loved the antics they all got up to including a bit of drama with a sea creature.. This is a perfect read for a quick break during the hot afternoon and I’m hoping we will get Rhode’s story soon as this ends with a lead up to more.
This was such a charming novella and I had so much FUN with this one. It does connect to the novel "Poseidon" so I wouldn't read this without reading the full-length novels in the series up to book five. It does have a bit of a cliffhanger concerning their daughter. I did enjoy seeing them go on a vacation together and meet up with Hades and Caroline and play around with the humans using their abilities, it was so entertaining. It was so fun to read this shortly after Poseidon. I have become so impressed by this author, and can't wait for more. These books are just so so much fun!
I pulled her to my side and kissed her, not caring my brother, and his wife were witnesses, not giving a manatee's ass the entire world could be watching - I kissed the love of my life with every breath in me.
From the moment Summer hit my Kindle, I was restless to read it. Poseidon was my least anticipated read of the Contemporary Mythos Series, but it skyrocketed to being one of my favourites, and that novel ended off at such a point where I was not ready to let Poseidon nor Cordelia go yet. So, getting to be reunited with them was an absolute treat; firstly, because I knew this short story would be the fun-loving, laugh out loud read I've been craving to read recently - and with Poseidon's cheekiness and Cordelia's wit, it was definitely all that and more - but secondly and most importantly, I desperately wanted to be reunited with them, again, because of where their novel ended off.
In Poseidon, we left Poseidon and Cordelia off on a happy note... but with an open ending. I won't be going into spoilers about their novel, but just know that it ended with these two love birds beginning their quest of finding something that's been long lost to both for centuries. At the end of Poseidon, it seemed there was hope that they'd finally be on the right path to find what they're looking for, but this short story begins showing that they're still stuck at square one. Seeing Cordelia distracted and having vowed to never neglect her again, Poseidon suggests they take a break from their searching to just spend quality time together; to refresh, relax, and recharge, and celebrate the first day of Summer. But what was supposed to be a day full of sun, sea and surf, soon turns into a day full of reunions, intense volleyball games, and an underwater battle to save a beach full of people.
And to top it all off? A sign from the sea that they've been waiting for...
Now, I may not have gotten any answers to the questions I'm still asking after finishing Poseidon, and I may be leaving Summer with even more questions I'm now desperate to get answered... but I can't deny that I am also leaving this story with the biggest of smiles on my face, and that knowledge that if I'm ever feeling down and need a quick pick-me-up, Summer is there to brighten my mood. It was H I L A R I O U S. And full of adorable moments between Cordelia and Poseidon, and even Meg and Hera, whose small appearance here has me itching for them to get a story of their own. It was also full of many moments that had me screaming in surprise - firstly, at that cameo from a certain God who I was not expecting to see (but whose dry sense of humour had me crying with laughter), and secondly at that shocker of an ending that seriously came out of nowhere, and now has theory after theory racing through my mind as to what this means now for the King and Queen of the Seas.
I will never get enough of Cordelia and Poseidon - they're just that couple who you can't help but love - and so I'd highly recommend this story to not just fans of this series as a whole, but to anyone and everyone whose read and enjoyed Poseidon in particular. Summer takes a certain sub-plot there to the next level, and I just cannot wait to see where things head next for these characters.
Are you in need of more Cory and Simon adventures? Look no further! I loved seeing them have some time for themselves to destress on the beach. Also we got to see one of our favorite other couples show up as well! Highly recommend if you are a fan of the Contemporary Mythos series!
This is a filler, more of an interlude than a real story, if it was the first chapter in a book it would be great. I really enjoy this series, but this was disappointing
