Solar Dragons Need Love, Too! 1

Moving to a new neighborhood sucks—unless of course you end up roommates with three gorgeous monster girls!
An odd twist of fate made me the newest resident in Meteoropolis, a city hurtling through space on the back of an ancient comet. After waking up in a containment pod, I got assigned to live with a unicorn gamer girl as my host. Not only did I need to find a job and some new friends, but I had to get used to bumping elbows with demons, dragons, aliens, and elves!

But somehow, that wasn't even the craziest part. When I arrived in this strange new world, I found out my soul had fused with a solar dragon. Suddenly, I had powers beyond anything even the magical residents of this city were capable of. Those powers also came with a secret that would be hard to keep.

In the space of a few days I went from a school teacher to a fire-breathing, shapeshifting superhero! Now I just need to figure out how to contribute around the house, deal with the three incredible women vying for my affection, and come to grips with the aggressive new tendencies the dragon soul brings out of me. It's going to be a hell of time!

Content Warning: This book contains adorable flower sprites, a unicorn-elf hybrid hottie, a serpentine seductress, and their unconventional romantic arrangement centered on one male. It also has intense scenes of physical intimacy, fantasy violence, and occasional strong language.

I was prepared for strange things in a book featuring a meteor-space-city and unicorns. I was not prepared to be bored. It’s quite an achievement making a space unicorn boring. But not an achievement I care to read.

Genre: Sci-fi Harem romance slice of life with light super hero aspects

Power dynamics in harem: Everyone has strong opinions, but MC is the central character
Explicit/adult material: Explicit, hot. More focus on the relationships, but present and explicit. Unicorn girl, snake girl, plant girl.

Summary:
Brock was completely normal English teacher. But wakes up million years later and in a town on an asteroid filled with aliens, and all kinds of fantasy creatures.
Sharing his body with the soul of a powerful solar dragon.
His host while he finds his own feet in society is a beautiful unicorn, Pinky . They are soon joined by a flower plant girl and a friend and colleague of Pinky.
The girls each fall for our MC and he for them, but they each have strong personalities and circumstances making this no normal superficial harem story.

Narrators
Voice diversity: The voice diversity is very good and the voices fit the characters very well. Impressive for a solo narration.
Pacing and intonation: So much heart and soul has been poured into the narration and it shows.
Sex scenes: Hot.
Alyssa poon does a fantastic work solo narrating this book.
Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.

The book’s strengths.
- The writing. It is fun, I care for and about the characters, there are a ton of fun references, it doesn't take itself seriously and at time almost breaks the fourth wall. And it all works so well.
- The girls have agency and go for what they want. It is so nice to read harem stories where the girls are not just passive objects to conquer.
- Pinky. I love the lore around unicorns and how it plays into the narrative.
- The narration

The book’s weaknesses.
- It is mostly focused on Pinky, which is fine, but the other girls need love too!

Overall: 5/5 stars
I can't seem to not give Virgil Knightley's work less that the full 5 stars. Each book I read just leaves me going back into his universes for more.

2.5/5

It's alright, I won't lie, I was far more invested in the beginning because I thought for a moment that there might really be something here, that the book would turn out to be much more of a book about romance, emotional trauma, and just overall be a truly character centric story. That's not really the case, while the book *is* about its characters, the romance in the book is unearned in a way, since everyone falls for the main character at the snap of his fingers since he's hot and nice and all. The characters, beyond the main girl Pinky, are incredibly thin, with virtually no development beyond 'omg I'm so horny for him.'

Still, everything to do with the main foil of the Unicorn and everything is both tragic and quite interesting and well done. I really thought there might have been more here, but at the end of the day, it's just another book like every other in its genre, just a slice of life and an interesting foil to drive the conflict. The main character does make one choice which was truly just 'for the plot' because it is unbelievably stupid to the point that it pulled me out of it but hey, I still can't lie, I absolutely devoured this book even if I didn't like the last 25%.

Oh, also, despite how it looks, there's actually only two sex scenes in all 350 pages, this book is much more about the romance and characters than anything else which was refreshing, or at least it would have been if it was a bit more and it certainly was in the first 25%.

Good story overall

Spoiler alert you have been warned
This book was pretty incredible if I do say so I self I mean I really enjoyed the characters and the interaction between the main characters and the sub characters so why didn't I give it 5 stars and 2 answers that I really have to give some spoiler but basically it's because the interaction between the main character and the main sub character of the unicorn girl just 2 over the top I mean I mean the 2 of them really enjoying each other you can tell….. There is affection there in love and I just expected more of the social interacting between the 2 of them to me to the ultimate conclusion that they all belong in the harem together……. Plus the concept of the dragon getting hurt by that dagger I just didn’t buy that because this dragon is a celestial dragon that should have been able to heal any grievance such as this is thisthis. They just really kind of ruin the story for me to see the dragon get hurt that much.

wow 😯

Well, well, well…… my first time reading Virgil, the synopsis intrigued me so I decided to take the plunge. If I knew book three wasn’t out yet I would have waited a few more weeks before starting this book….unfortunately I was 30% in and it’s so good there was no way I was stopping to wait. So I pushed forward. Granted, this is a slow burn romance (on some fronts 😂) hello blossom, right? 😘. I loved the characters. Each are truly unique and have such quirky and snarky personalities. I think Virgil did a superb job with the world building as well. Dr Luna was totally hilarious…. Also the commissioner being a mix of two great characters made me laugh so much and his personality made it even more top notch. I was wondering if there was some low key attraction between Go’Udren and his secretary 🤔. Their relationship dynamic is just too interesting and odd. I think Virgil did a superb job with this first installment and I can’t wait to read the rest. Onward lads!

Silly, lightweight, slice of life fun

There's a lot of things this book is not: serious, long, solving a problem, saving the world, or being "the one".
What this book is: silly, fun, filled with pop culture, references, self-deprecating, and well written.

While some people may find some of the character traits of the girls annoying I found them, mostly, endearing. The flower sprite is hilarious. Mamba is a bit overbearing. Pinky is a bit whiny. But all in all, I really enjoyed them. I think this fits slice of life pretty well. Plus, the erotic scenes were well written.

Throw in a smidge of crime fighting, and tons of references to other comic book crime fighters, and you got the gist of the story. But it's not about the crime fighting or the MC figuring out his powers or getting stronger. It's about his life in the new world with the new people. It was a nice distraction from all those stories out there that are serious.

Harem monster-girl fantasy series.

The book utterly runs with many pop culture tropes. Discworld (but the city is on the top of a meteor instead of a world on a giant turtle), Batman, etc. The world-building is very crude, with a lot of handwaving on how things work. The protagonist is well-drawn and has a bit of a split personality (and for good reasons). The three (so far) girls are fun and very different from each other.

Anyways, light (very, very light), low-key erotica (I hope that ramps up in later books), fun. Not much else to say. I am current reading my first book in a collaboration this author did with Annabelle Hawthorne, who has very detailed worldbuilding, and so far that collaboration works very well for me.

unexpected gem

I didn’t expect much from a description of a reincarnation of a guy who becomes a dragon and grows a harem. But damn if this wasn’t a damn fun book. The characters were genuinely pleasant and for once I actually cared about the characters. The relationship with pinky ended how expected with a couple very unexpected bumps that were refreshing in a story like this. But most of all this book was funny as hell. The mc is snarky but nice. And the commissioners angry tirade was about the funniest sequence I have ever read. Was literally wiping tears at his impressively colourful words. Would highly recommend this book 100%.

Sometimes, showing something in my recommendations enough will cause me to crack and give it a go. That's the case here, and alas, I was not pleasantly surprised.

Decidedly mediocre, mainly because the MC and the "main girl" take the entire book to get together, for no better reason than overcoming the McGuffin became the plot.

Unfortunate, as there is some story here. The characters are uninspired tropes, so the 3 star rating shows my disappointment that they are so 2D. I have picked up the second book to see if any of this improves and that nascent storyline takes off, but we'll see.

Interesting Storr

Brock is displaced to a new world after his death. Paired with a Solar Dragon he must learn to navigate a new world. Now faced with the challenge of a woman who wants him but is terrified of what it may bring, another who is in love with him but is loyal to her friend and a third that is a flower sprite who desperately wants him. Top that off with his dragon powers and need to see justice done it is an interesting tightrope to walk. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Interesting premise

Story nothing Super special but certainly interesting promise. A meteor collecting lost souls and reincarnating them to make a society. The dragon certainly fun And not uncommon for genre. The harem part is The same. Only interesting part was course the unicorn portion and Restrictions that come with. Crush crush melodramatic was more extended than it needed to be. Overall a fun book. I look forward to powers and abilities that get discovered along the way by the main characters.

My series review.

This series started out pretty good and interesting but sadly by book 4 got kind of too much about the harem and by book 5 is kind of meh plot wise. Everything is too easy and pretty much any girl can get in his harem which is getting frankly out of hand.

I also found out this book is tied in with the authors Esoterica Chronicles which is something I would surely liked to have known before hand and way before book 5. I say this since at the end of book 5 we find out the main plot of this is just wrapping up some stuff that looks like wasn't in the Esoterica series......

I am not sure this is worth reading past book 5 or 6 unless you want fanfic slice of life with no plot.

A pleasant surprise

I was searching for something new to scratch my itch and found this treasure. The characters are great, the story is good, and it is just a fun book.

The world is very interesting, but the story mostly focuses on the characters, so a lot is left unsaid. I fully recommend this book if you like slow burn harem books and I look forward to reading next book.

Fun, witty and truely unique read!

Bought this out of curiosity, and was intrigued by the sound of the world described.

Was not disappointed, with interesting characters, strange and engaging World, and the daily struggles of an MC trying to get his feet under him in an alien world while keeping a big secret that gets harder to keep the more he gets to know his new roommates.

Looks like a fun series and would be interested in reading more!

Its good!? Ok so it’s really weird. But book two goes way more into the lore and world building and explains much. As far as book one goes it’s really just out there, you can’t have any preconceived notions or idea of what the world is or how the monster girls are. You have to take it one step at a time.

Also not nearly as spicy as other stories by Virgil, I’d rate it a 2/5 spice (5 being coven king and 1 being a mainstream D&D book)

Fun!!

This is a nice beginning of a new series for me. Brock is a man who likes to protect. Especially people that he loves. It works well that he has been reborn in a strange city where he has been spliced with a solar dragon. This gives him a lot of power. I like the action,, humor, and romance. I look forward to the next book.

Good humor.

You are going to laugh and laugh at the way the people react to each other. It is a well written and easy story to read. It has some deep, sad and troubling moments, but that only adds to the readability of this story. I hope that this keeps up in the rest of the series.

This novel has exactly what I look for when it comes to HaremLit. A bunch of entertaining and enjoyable characters and fanstic settings. It also makes sure to give each of the women have personality and depth to them. Not every haremlit makes sure to pay attention to this detail but this series does and it made me want to read the next book as soon as possible.

Good but its missing elements for the story

The story was a good read. Interesting characters and story uniqueness. The actual superhero story was just there with no real conclusion. For being a harem story, it needed more adult situations. I'm going to read book two just to see where storyline is going.

Deeper than I expected, in a good way!

This book is well written, exciting, and down right sexy!
Enough action to make you want to read faster, with deep plot peeking out around the edges.
Lots of sexy time but never repetitive. if you're a fan of harem books, this is a must read.

Put off reading this for the longest time because of the cover....honestly got more than I was expecting. It's all decent, the characters are fleshed out, still has that instant attraction you see in these stories. But it's laid out in a acceptable way. FMC is still a unicorn, so you know if that's tolerable to you...

I like where this is headed.

Good world building and description. You get the exposition right away and it tracks. Not a lot of spice in this title, mainly sprinkled at the end. Some implied spice as well, which is cool, but I'd have liked scenes with the two other girls. Thanks to the author for the entertaining read.

The artificial drama is a little thick, especially when concerning the unicorn girl. Frustrating enough to skip chapters until it was over. Now that the harem is established tho, could be fun with the whole batman thing the MC got going on.

Cool

I was not expecting such a deep dive into these characters. Mr. Knightly has stepped his game up. This is definitely more than a lustful romp. I can't wait for more in this series.

I like it

It's an isekai/super hero/swords & magic mish-mash, but I like it! Lol especially the roof spotlight and 'commissioner Gordon'. It's fun, and tugs at your heart strings at times. Great novel

It was fuggin' decent. Set-up is a bit convoluted but the characters are likable, which is the most important ingredient for this kind of story. Plot is straightforward and silly but I ultimately enjoyed this quick read. Will check out the rest of series.
