I am just getting started in this niche and was making a few common mistakes. This book helped me a lot, I never used my highlighter feature before on my kindle and this book looks like a pride flag! Such excellent information, extremely helpful!
This is the second (and probably last) book on the subject of Financial Domination I’m likely to read. I’m not judging, but I’m starting to think the old Marxist critique of how capitalism warps all human relations applies especially to the economic aspects. What two consenting adults do (or more than two, I guess) is their business, even if it’s necessary for the fantasy to involve the kayfabe of non-consensualness. Still, when I think about rich people hemorrhaging obscene amounts of money—on the casino baize or elsewhere—while others die after being refused some medical procedure for a lack of insurance, the sickness of our system becomes a little too egregious to ignore. The flipside of that is of course it’s not for me to decide what sort of system we live under, and a certain level of injustice/hierarchical organization is probably inherent in each one. Even among communists, there were those higherup politburo types and mandarins who had more power, which, any way you cut it, is capital. And if I were a woman in the sex trades, I’d rather be screwing for hard cash than for foreign goods like blue jeans and tinned sardines, or even weekends at some apparatchik’s dacha. How To Become a Successful Findom, while shorter than the other kindle book I read on the same subject, offers a much completer overview of the kink. It talks about setting limits, the various subcultures within the already very niche fetish, as well as what behaviors and what kinds of customers to avoid. From the outside looking in, it seems quite easy, certainly less involved and demanding than full contact sex work. Definitely easier and less demeaning than flipping burgers or finagling a plumber’s snake into a stopped-up toilet. Reading about the difference between the wannabes and established Findommes, though, it becomes clear that the game is as much art as science. It requires a lot of effort, a lot of insight into the male psyche, and a sort of horse whisperer’s knack for knowing when to apply bridle, bit, or currycomb. You don’t just open up for business, put out your virtual shingle and start fleecing the marks. Much like pimping, it demands a strange set of character traits which very few genuinely possess. And like pimping, it ain’t easy. I guess, in a way, that it is pimping, albeit with the female calling the shots rather than the male. For those ladies curious about how to earn a living in the field though—and those among us endlessly perplexed and fascinated by fringe sexuality—it’s an illuminating read. And definitely the better of the two books I’ve read on the topic.
This book gives a lot of marketing ideas for not just findom, but also other businesses and kinks. The only problem I have is that it never seems to be a closer. Maybe I’m just used to the findom manuals written in first person from those in the business who can be verified, so this one reads more like a textbook. There are no concrete examples saying this worked this way and that didn’t work so I had to change.
