1cm+ aims to move your perspective, just one centimeter, the centimeter YOU need in your life. It does not try to tell you a story, or teach you a lesson. It guides your thoughts and suggests a possible solution to your problems. It is a sequel to the book 1cm. However, because it is not a story, you don’t need to read the first book to read this one.
It has majorly 6 themes: Breaking, Loving, Finding, Relaxing, Getting Closer, and Dreaming. Depending on what has been bothering you, different themes will speak out to you. Different pages, different quotes will be remembered depending on who you are.
The author suggests an alternative way of the thought process of a typical human being. With the use of puns, and illustration, she leads you to a destination to change your outlook on things.
I personally was struggling in finding a book I wanted to read. I wanted to read something heavy, but at the same time I wanted to read something light. I wanted to think deeply, but I did not want to read something very wordy, or with complex language. I needed something straightforward. That is why I enjoyed this book so much. Each page, makes you think of a memory, a story of yours that you kept to yourself. It makes you think about the stressors in your life, and suggests how to not get stressed by that stressor.
There is a difference between someone telling you to see something in a different way, and a book suggesting what a change in perspective looks like. I personally prefer the latter, and thats what the book does. Through illustrations and puns it shows you what a tiny difference, with minimal effort, time and cost can change your view on life.
It makes you realize that your sitting in the center point in the circle of your life. If you turn your head 15 degrees, it may be a simple 15 degrees, the horizon may change ever so drastically. It may be a move of 3 centimeters on your part, but it is a movement of dozens of kilometers at the end of your circle, and in the end that’s what you see.
If you are going through stages of laziness, if you are getting stressed and have no idea how to get out of it, this is definitely a book you should take a look at. If it doesn’t change your life, it will definitely change your day, your week, or your month.
