Good girls are saved by princes, but my savior is a monster.

After my father died and my family splintered, I became a target, a pawn in a game I didn't know I was playing.
Then he appeared—dark, dangerous, tormented, and always just within reach.
He makes me come alive. He makes me remember.
He makes me feel something I lost years ago: Safe.
And he thinks he can keep me at arm’s length.

Once upon a time I was a hero, until the sins of my father caught up with me, and I was forced into darkness.
I should've died in that fire. Instead, I served evil men, until I risked it all by walking away.
Now I'm a wanted man. At any time, I could be taken down for what I owe.
What I don't expect to find in my hiding place is her—broken, beautiful, so damn tempting.
I was hired to keep her safe. I shouldn't touch her with my filthy hands.
But every day it gets harder, then she starts sneaking into my bed.

Together, we're filthy, but together, we can find our way through the flames.

(FILTHY is a stand-alone, bodyguard, romantic suspense novel. It contains a fierce, wounded protector and the damaged young woman he’s hired to save. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

"He loves you a la mort."
"And I’ll love him until I die."

Let me start by saying you should read Fearless before reading Filthy. You will definitely understand it better, and the story will make more sense. You’ll also be able to enjoy all the characters a lot more.
Hana and Scar have not made this easy for me, and chapter 28 absolutely gutted me and made my heart hurt. However, their HEA was worth all of it.

"This is where she belongs, in my arms where anyone would have to kill me to hurt her."
Hana is a study in contrasts. She is both kind of childish at times, and a very strong woman who is able to move past what happened to her. She both wants to be protected and held, and wants to stand on her own two feet. She loves her sister fiercely, and enjoys her support, but also wants to prove she can make it on her own. I think that’s why she was so relatable and felt so real to me.

"It’s how he makes me feel, whole, restored, undamaged."
I knew Scar was broody, strong, intense, and protective from the previous book. I had no idea of how wonderful he could be, or how capable of love he truly is. Or how sexy. After getting to know him better, I can’t forget his amazing heart of gold, or what he’s willing to go through to protect the people he loves. Whatever it takes, for Hana. I absolutely loved him.

"The first day I got here, our eyes met, and the earth moved."
Hana and Scar met in the previous book, and it was clear to see something was going on between them. His need to protect her and make it all better is stronger than everything screaming at him to let her go. Her need for him is stronger than whatever ghosts from her past still haunt her to this day.
I had no idea of how deep their feelings were, but once they let go, it’s pretty much everything I needed. Sex between them is hot and dirty, but so very meaningful at the same time. All their moments together have a purpose, and that was amazing to read.

I love that Hana pursues him because she knows what she wants, even if he retreats into his own shell. She knows she’ll have to make an effort to tear down the walls he’s put up around him, but I don’t think she realized that meant lowering her own in the process. And there’s nothing more beautiful than two people realizing they can wholeheartedly trust each other.

"My soul begs to possess her just once. Once, and I would remember everything about her. Like the rings on a tree, she would mark the time in my heart."
The backdrop of their story carries on from the previous book. Hana is still in danger, and Scar is not willing to risk anything happening to her. Not now, not ever. Secrets come to light that threaten not only what they have, but their lives as well. The twists and turns will keep you guessing, and the combination of their love story and everything around them made this a real page-turner for me.

"I’ll always keep her from falling."
Scar and Hana are both damaged in their own way, and we get to know exactly what happened to them. It’s heartbreaking. However, at the same time, their pasts have made them who they are now, and they are absolutely perfect together, so I don’t think they would change a thing.
Because their journey, however rough and hard, led them to each other.

"We’ve fought demons and darkness, but we survived. Our scars remain, but they tell us we can
heal."

The deepest scars we all carry are the ones no one can see. The ones embedded in our lives and our memories, which make us think we are less than, undeserving or broken. That make us think we’re filthy, when we’re anything but. Hana and Scar found each other, and healed each other – the scars will always be there, but they’re a reminder of what they can overcome if they’re together.

Brilliant book.

Panty melting filthy!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Hana. She’s been at the center of so much trouble and I was worried what might be revealed as her story unfolded. I could not love her more. I loved that Scar helped to strengthen her as he was just as broken as she was. Together they found peace and it was absolutely beautiful.

Russia was and remains a 'prison of nations,' Moscow writer says | EUROMAIDAN PRESS | Euromaidan Press

Scar is everything I love in a protective, alpha hero. He was just what Hana needed and she was the light he had been denied all his life. Watching him in full on protection mode where she was concerned fed my alpha loving heart to an extent it hasn’t had in a while.

I loved the way this author used the title as more than it appears on the surface. There is no doubt that things between Scar and Hana are hot and filthy and absolutely delicious, but, there was so much more than that to their story. This was filled with all kinds of steamy deliciousness, but it was also laced with drama, danger and angst. I found myself moving through a gauntlet of emotions from laughing to crying but ending this was pure satisfaction.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

This book is NOT A STANDALONE!

That's actually the second supposedly standalone book that I've read/listened this month, and while they're both for different couples, in this one, the plot was so interconnected to the first book, that i started and finished the book lost to who was who and why that was happening. Even the villain was a continuation from the first book.

It's not like the author explained the previous book plot and details, so it wasn't necessary for you to read to understand this one.
That didn't happened and I'm still struggling to understand how a virgin girl was raped multiple times.
That was probably in the previous book, but in this one? I'm still clueless at basically everything.

So the main couple here have an insta love/lust/connection (that apparently isn't that insta, cause they've been around each other for the past year on the previous book).

I liked him and wasn't bothered by her.

There's too much random stuff that probably came from the first book to be tied up in this one.

I honestly don't know what's going on with authors releasing books that are part of a series as standalones.
If they sell more books or get more readers by releasing standalones, they should write standalones in the first place, cause this book could've been an amazing story if i could actually connect the hundreds of missing dots!

Since i could not, i was listening basic for the smut, the great narration and to reach a happy ending!

So sadly,  I DO NOT RECOMMEND this book UNLESS you wants to read Fearless first.
Then you probably would be fine.

DNF @ 37 %

Alright here's the thing- I absolutely HATED another one of this authors books. BUT the blurb of this story was interesting so I wanted to give her another chance. Turns out, this author just isn't for me. Her antagonists are juvenile, her MCs are unoriginal, and her plots are boring. I put this book down at 32% intending to come back to it and give it another shot. I made it 5% further lol. I have several issues with this story and I may jump around a bit so I'll use bullet points.

•Despite this being marketing as a standalone, there was so much going on from previous books that I was just so confused the entire time. It's not like an interconnected standalone where characters from the other books flit in and out - they are deeply ingrained and their issues and past happenings are integral to the story. Because of this, there was clearly history between the FMC and MMC and it felt like starting a movie halfway through.

•The bad guys in this story come across as cheesy super villains from a bad DC movie.

•This poor FMC was heavy into drugs as a coping mechanism and was taken advantage of (SA) and was filmed and everyone believed her to just be a slut, no one thought about how she couldn't have consented and it was against her will. Even the MMC believes this until he "got to know her better." The FMC currently has nightmares and other PTSD responses due to this additional trauma and no one is taking her seriously.

•Our MMC has been doing this kind of work for several years, almost a decade, and was making rookie mistakes from the very beginning (interrogating a potential witness but doesn't think to do it in a place where he can control the situation, and instead she runs away and blows his cover...).

•MMC body-shames her for being "too skinny" (as a result of her depression) - she stands up for herself eventually but reading it was like... this is our love interest? No thanks.

this may be my biggest issue with the entire 37% I read: the FMC sexually assaults the MMC while he is asleep. They had maybe kissed once or twice and she finds that sleeping in his bed helps with her nightmares... okay, fine. Switch to MMC POV and he's having a sex dream about FMC, except he wakes up and realizes that it's not a dream and she really is giving him a blow job. You would think the girl who had been SA'd already would stop and think about consent before touching someone else. Just because he's a guy doesn't make it okay. She sees nothing wrong with this and even thinks to herself "When I woke up with his impressive morning wood in my stomach, I went for it, and I got him." UHM NO THIS IS NOT OKAY. Don't get me wrong, if you have a conversation about it beforehand with clear boundaries (aka a normal discussion about consent) then fine, but to just jump on him like that? Ugh, so frustrating.

•The above point is pretty much where I left off so when I jumped back in to give it a 2nd chance, I had the pleasure (read: misfortune) of reading their first time having penetrative sex. There's no foreplay, she "feels her orgasm curling in her thighs" after 20 seconds of kissing, and she doesn't tell him she's a virgin. He becomes feral after seeing her blood on his sheets and it was at this point that I realized that I am NOT enjoying this book and I just need to put it down. Read this or not, I don't really care but I won't be reading from this author again.

A scarred bodyguard that does more than protect

And who’s also swoony and patient? Yaaaasss 😮‍💨

First off, I don’t consider this a standalone since the action continues from book 1.

The book opens up showing us how Oskar/Scar (31) got his scars. He was in the military and goes into a burning building to save a little girl. Afterwards, he’s forced to join Simon (bad guy), a Russian who’s involved in shady business dealings.

7 years later, he’s left that life because of how terrible it got and is currently protecting Hana (21). He was lucky enough to meet Hutch (book 1 H) and his brother Dirk. The fact that they need to watch Hana and her sister Blake (book 1 h) is sickening.

Hana was molested/abused when was she young/a kid ☹️. We actually find out a lot about this in book 1 and experiences nightmares ☹️, which means she has trouble sleeping. The people that should’ve protected her didn’t (like her mother) and Hana had a toxic teenage life- drugs/alcohol/partying… you name it 😏 she did it. The friend she did this with died in book 1, but the Hana and Blake don’t believe she committed suicide. There’s a mystery around her death as well as the safety of both Blake and Hana to think of.

Hana’s going to be have a photography event where she showcases her passion and she’ll need to be protected. Scar needs to do all he can to keep her safe… even if he sacrifices his own.

What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—how swoooony Scar is 🥰. Gah! He melted my heart so many times. The way he’s willing to sacrifice his freedom and himself for Hana is just 🥹😭❤️.

—how protective he is as well 🫶. It’s related to the previous bullet and I know it’s part of his job, but he goes above and beyond 🥹. Sleeping with her so that she doesn’t have nightmares? Sigh 🫶 make me get all gooey Scar ❤️

—the 🔥. Oh LAWD… it gets 🥵. Their first kiss is at about 22% and they do other stuff up until Scar finds out Hana’s a v before 40% 👀. And he’s ALWAYS ready for her 😉 whenever she needs him 🔥. When they sneak out to the car? 😮‍💨. The 🔥 goes through the epilogue, so there’s plenty of 💦 going on 😅

—how patient Scar is when it comes to 🔥. Because of Hana’s past, he’s conscious of making sure she’s okay 🥹 swooooon 🫶. She freaks out when he’s trying to have a taste and he’s so understanding… so the next time he goes downtown, he checks in to make sure she’s okay ❤️ and it’s so 🥵💦

—^^cereal eating 😉

—the sunflower seeds/car scene 👀. Hana not knowing you don’t eat the shells was everything 🤣 and then… bow chicka wow wow 🔥🥵 (cue 70s p0rn music 🤣)

—Hana’s growth🫶. She’s been an addict and depressed, but here she’s battling her demons and overcoming them. It’s not an easy road especially because of her past ❤️. She’s doing the best she can and accepts the help she needs 👏🏻

—the side characters ❤️. I loved seeing them, considering I read book 1, it was sweet knowing just how connected they all are

—Pepper and her dad 🫶. I liked her a lot in book 1 and she continues to be sweet in this book, so I was excited she gets to meet her dad. We get the story of her parents and her dad wants to be a part of her life ❤️

—the old man 👏🏻. We don’t even know everything about him, but what we DO know is he has connections and is a life saver ❤️

—body image 😅. I know some people got upset when Scar mentions that Hana needs to gain weight, but I didn’t take it as him being malicious; I took it as he wants her to eat so she’s not malnourished/under weight/etc, BUUUUT, since Hana has a lot of mental health issues, he needed to be gentler in his approach 😬. Luckily, Hana confronts him about this and he feels like ish, so it’s not something that gets dwelled upon too much

—the photographs and drawings 👀. Not me picturing and being invested when this would come up 👀

—the comeuppance 💅. Bad people need to get theirs 💁🏻‍♀️. Could it have been worse? Sure 😐. But I’ll take what was done 🤷🏻‍♀️. Justice was served where it needed to be served… for the MOST part 😅 gotta read book 3 now

—SING… and Sandra Bullock 👏🏻. Anytime Miss Congeniality is mentioned, I’m gonna be paying attention 🤣. I love that movie, and, well others too (ahem… like Speed and The Proposal and… okay I’ll stop now🤣)

What I needed more of: SPOILERS
—clarity on what happened. So, we can infer and get enough information to figure out what happened to her, but… I was questioning info when we come across the losing the v scene and she says she wasn’t sure she was a v, but then later on (and even in book 1), Scar states she was r9ped… I guess, she was kept “intact” for reasons, but I was given the impression she wasn’t a v because of all the abuse she suffered. Honestly though, I’m all for CHOOSING when you lose your v, so for me, it made sense 🫶. No child should EVER experience what Hana did

—not telling Hana she didn’t do “it”. It becomes clear she was innocent and Scar knows this, but I just don’t understand WHY it’s kept from her 🤷🏻‍♀️. If anything, this would’ve lessened her guilt about things and probably helped her speed up her healing 😐. I know it’s being done to give us a shock factor, but it became so blatantly obvious early on when the subject kept being changed 🤦🏻‍♀️

—lack of bc. We know he’s clean, but what about preventing pregnancy? 😬

Overall, I really enjoyed this ❤️

**3.5/5 stars**

I highly recommend reading Fearless before picking up Filthy because even though it's mentioned that these books are standalones, an intrigue is set in motion in the first installment, which only gets partly solved. Starting with Filthy will only throw you in the middle of an investigation without much background.

**I know, because that's what I tried to do at first and I was completely lost so I paused at about 8% and picked it up again once I'd read Fearless and it all made so much more sense**

In this book, we pick up straight after Fearless's events which mainly concerned the older van Hamilton sister, Blake, who'd been blackmailed. Now here, we follow the younger sister, Hana, who had a terrible childhood/adolescence. To cope with her demons, she fell under the spell of drugs, alcohol and a life of partying, trying to forget and numb the pain any way she could. Since she moved with her sister to the van Hamilton residence in Hamiltown, and live with her Great Uncle, she's trying to change her bad habits and addictions, to focus on photography, something she'd become passionate about in the last book. As determined as she is to put the pieces of her being back together, to heal and move forward, a threat of her past is still after her. And there comes Scar (Oskar), a man she met in Fearless who took upon himself to be her bodyguard, protecting her and trying to free her from whatever danger still lingers in the shadows.

He watches her like she’s something he’s never seen before, like a Viking entranced by a mermaid.- (said by Hutch in Fearless) Tia Louise

If you look at the quote just above, you'll see exactly what type of things you'll be missing if you skipped Fearless. The relationship between Scar and Hana, their first meeting, is established in the first book. In Filthy, they already know each other, they already have a little thing going on even though nothing is really shaped into something yet. They have a lot to work on in terms of the investigation but also their own feelings for each other.

Pulling my knees to my chest, I wrap my arms around them and imagine shrinking. I imagine growing smaller and smaller, until I disappear in the long threads of the carpet. I’m Alice searching for the perfect drug to make me invisible.-Hana

Hana wasn't really the type of heroines I could relate to but her story still touched me. And as much as I hated her ways to cope, she had good reasons to have had fallen into the rabbit hole. The good thing was that if in Fearless she still felt hopeless, in Filthy she was visibly making efforts to get better and step away from her bad habits; she also didn't touch any drugs. I liked that, no matter her past, she tried to stay positive, look forward, find purpose and help others. She was a little sunshine, especially around Scar, getting her confidence back. I thought her behavior was a bit odd at times, but overall, she was a pretty decent and realistic survivor.

“I never believed I could have something wonderful.”
His expression changes, and he looks down at my nude body in his arms.
“I never knew to dream of you.”

Once again, I have some mixed feelings about the hero; this time being Scar. He had many qualities that I love in a MMC. He was broody, protective, possessive and a bit overbearing. Even though he tried to keep Hana at arms length, he still very much considered her his, being jealous at times. Now, the mixed feelings came at the beginning when he made a comment (that didn't come off the way he meant it, mind you) about Hana's body being underweight, unhealthy. Of course, his intentions were to protect her and as much as I understand he wasn't ill-intended, I just thought it was mean of him to bodyshame her when she'd been through so much...and how she visibly was trying to get better. He did apologize, which balmed the burn a little but still. Another thing that bugged me, and without spoiling, was what he did at the end to protect her. I just thought it was very reckless and unnecessary. I thought I would like Scar better than Hutch but turns out, Hutch was more likable? More boyfriend material. Still, Scar was a pretty good character nonetheless.

We’ve fought demons and darkness, but we survived. Our scars remain, but they tell us we can heal. We can walk through fire, and together, we’ll make it through to the other side.-Hana

Now why did I rate this books the same as Fearless? Well, because I found that it had the same little things that bugged me previously. The intrigue/investigation was very slow, we didn't get much information until later in the story. The characters, both this time, were reckless at the end, a team effort if you will. I didn't especially like the last few chapters, which I felt were a bit dramatic and unrealistic.

Anyway, I thought the story was still enjoyable. The romance wasn't as good as the first book but it did have some elements I liked. Scar had to grovel a bit to get back in Hana's good graces and panties. Groveling heroes are a weakness of mine.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, but only if you read Fearless first. Overall, I think both books complement each other. You need read them in order to fully appreciate the plot and characters. I believe there is another one releasing sometime in December this year (2022). It will follow Dirk, Hutch's younger brother, a computer savvy who will teach a class in college and run investigations on the side. It will be a teacher-student romance.

Thoughts

The way Scar protected Hana because she went through too much when she was young was sweet to see. Also, Hana did not keep her feelings to herself and she kept drawing Scar out of his shell which showed that she was indeed a strong, sensitive woman. However that was all to the book. The instant attraction between them didn't pull me into the story and the first half of the book progressed slowly. It also seemed to be connected to a previous book by the author (Fearless) which I did not read so I couldn't fully enjoy the story. Overall, the blurb sounded good but it didn't perform as well book wise.

I was dying for a book for this couple and this did not disappoint at all. I ate up the overprotective alpha male protecting a girl who’s been through too much too young. So, so, so freaking good!

Scar is just hot as fuck. We all knew that, but getting his pov is just something different. This man left me speechless multiple times and I could never get enough of him in general. The way he would do ANYTHING in the world for Hana was so special and the ending brought me to tears. He was so gentle for her because of her past and was just the perfect man to be in her life.

Hana is stronger than the thinks she is. She could’ve been broken, but she was able to open up to Scar and she wanted to do better for herself. I loved seeing her improve as a person after her terrible past and just seeing her happy made me happy. She loved Scar as hard as her loved her, even after some secrets are spilled. They truly are soulmates and i’m just happy they both found their happy ending.

I really ended up liking this a lot. Now I didn't read the story of Blake and Hutch in which I will be for sure, loved them, so I was a little off and honestly thought about stopping but once it really picked up and I got onboard with the background...I ended up liking it a whole bunch! Really great chemistry and love between these 2!!!!!

Oh, get ready. We have secrets, shame, love, reluctance to reach for that love, a man with a heart of gold, and a woman who’s finding that her heart wasn’t quite as tarnished as she thought. If you met Hana and Scar in Fearless, you knew there was something there. But I bet you had no clue just how MUCH was there. Or the lengths they would go to in order to save each other.

I’ve loved Scar from jump. He’s a tad grumpy. He’s intense. He’s broody. He’s a softie when it comes to Hana or even his other friends. But he figured Hana wasn’t meant for him, so he would protect her from a distance, hard stop. Except Hana didn’t want or need distance. Or protecting. She needed HIM. She needed Scar to see her as a woman. To help her remember she’s worthy. And to love her.

As for Hana, she may have been lost once, but she was finding herself now. She found talent. And love. And friendship. And desire for the one man who seemed determined to push her away. But she didn’t give up. Not when she realized just what they could be together. And if she surprised both of them along the way, thats okay.

These two more than deserved the love they found. The twists and turns to find out whodunnit, why, and what else is at stake kept me wanting more with every word. The way Scar ripped his own heart out to save his one and only slayed me. And the way his best friend pushed and fought to bring him back to Hana and his heart proved just how worthy Scar and Hana both were. I can’t wait to find out what happens with Carmen, or Dirk, or Teal. I’m sure we have a few more surprises to learn with them!

(ARC REVIEW)
Before you read this you will need to read Fearless. Yes this is marked as a standalone and it truly can be read that way but if you read the previous book you will have a better understanding. I will warn you if you are looking for a fluffy type romance read then this is not it. This book is gritty, it is dirty, and it brings out your emotions. I will admit I got tears.

Oskar (Scar) has a traumatic past that plays with him mentally and physically but he is still amazingly strong. That man can be my bodyguard any day of the week.  Poor Hana she ripped my heart out in Fearless and I just had to read her story. My heart bleeds for that girl. Her life was not a storybook for little girls but she did have a wonderful support system. Scar  felt like he didnt deserve her because of his past and trusts me I wish he could have heard me screaming how wrong he was. They were perfect for each other. Tia, you did another phenomenal book that had me invested from the beginning.

𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 / 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 / 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗕

"I've never felt more safe than when I'm with him."

Hana's found the only man to make her feel safe. Scar's protective but keeps his distance in every other way. Why can't he see Hana and he could be so good together?

Hana's been through it, has endured things that would have broken a lesser woman, but Scar's been through it in ways Hana doesn't even know. The scars on his body are nothing compared to the ones on his psyche, and they've left him with damage that not even this beautiful, strong woman can heal. Or so he thinks. He knows he's not good enough or good for, Hana, so keeping her at a distance is all he can do even as he protects her in ways she doesn't realize. Will he ever let her into his heart?

I thought I knew back in Fearless, that Scar and Hana's story would be intense. But I had no idea, because here in their journey, all the details of their individual backstories, and the way they fell in love, damn, heartbreaking! Scar is the kind of alpha I love most - protective, possessive, damaged, but with a tender heart that's only for his partner and the people he loves. I wasn't too sure about Hana in her sister's story, but here she was shown to be a true survivor, with such a huge heart, going after the man she wanted even though he kept his distance from her. And I adored her, possibly even more than I did Blake. Heartbreak, sizzling chemistry, and suspense - trademark Tia, and one of my new favorite story and favorite couple of hers. Now I'm very impatiently waiting for Dirk's story, Forbidden, to land on my Kindle.

I wasn’t sure what to expect. At least some suspense, some violence, mentions of child abuse, yes. That much raw emotions? Not in the least. Hana and Scar’s story was good.

We saw in the previous book that there was a strong connection between them, and that Scar had basically decided to be Hana’s bodyguard. But there were some secrets in Scar’s past that threatened their budding friendship. I won’t say more about them because I don’t want to spoil the story, but we learn what those secrets were, and they’re huge! It was smart and twisted from the author to write him like that.

They clearly define Scar as a character. They’re the source of his struggles, and the reason he kept away from Hana for so long. I loved that Hana–younger and traumatized Hana–was the one who made the first move. She decides she needs to take charge if she wants anything to happen, and she goes for it.

The book is about Hana learning to keep her past in the past. She goes from the child who coped with the abuse she suffered with drugs and alcohol, to a strong woman who gets what she wants and heals her heart with her art–and Scar’s love. I felt her trauma was dealt with a bit too fast, especially when intimacy with Scar is showed as a huge step, and then everything is fine.

It’s also Scar’s journey through forgiveness. I mean, for him to forgive himself. We learn more of his ugly past, but we also see him redeem himself over and over. And the characters around him–friends, colleagues, lovers, even strangers–keep showing him he’s more than he thinks of himself.

There was one element that wasn’t related to the romance that I enjoyed very much. The side story about Pepper–Hutch’s niece and Hana young friend–was super interesting and still offered some development for the romance. Several times, her situation is used as a contrast or a benchmark to talk about Hana’s or Scar’s childhood. Very clever. But it’s also its own story and a source of cuteness inside a heavier story.

There was a lot of steam. This series of standalones might be the author’s sexiest series. There wasn’t much originality in the situations, but there were a lot of them. Point for quantity instead of quality.

The suspense element started good, but I felt it was resolved way too easily. It left me with many questions, but I’m sure the next book will answer them.

Quickie

- Series: standalone
- Hashtags: #romantic suspense #age gap #bodyguard #virgin
- Triggers: mention of child abuse and rape, violence and murder
- Main couple: Hana van Hamilton & Oskar Lourde
- Hotness: 5/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + Oskar’s extreme attentiveness and complete devotion was sexy
- – the whole thing kind of resolves by itself, a bit too easily

3 ⭐'s

Oskar (Scar) is Hana's bodyguard so it's convenient that they both want each other even though Scar doesn't really want to.

They both have some pretty heavy events in their pasts and it was a little frustrating only getting the information in bits and pieces. It is possible that there is more background in Hana's sister's, Blake, book, Fearless, but I didn't know this wasn't a stand alone.

Scar and Hana's past have crossed although Hana doesn't know this. Scar is trying to handle things his own way and we all know how that turns out.

There is a LOT of sex in this book and I felt it was too much the same and too repetitive.

Luckily, I was happy with the way the book ended. Another bodyguard's, Dirk, book is up next. Forbidden is coming out December 15, 2022.

This is my first Tia Luise book. I know that it is connected to Fearless, but I still did not had the chance to read it.

I liked Hana and Scar as a couple. After everything she's been through, when she was young, she had a bright personality and she was fighting for what she wants. I did understood the reasons for Scar pulling away and I didn't liked it, but thankfully the tug and pull wasn't for long time.

What I particularly loved within the book was the sparks and the smut between Hana and Scar. I know that I've said it before, but their chemistry was off the charts. The steam was awesome.

Overall I liked the book and I think that Hana and Sacar were a very hot couple.

We’re familiar with these characters from Fearless, which in my opinion should be read before starting this book. We do get peaks into Scar and Hanna and it was so beneficial for connecting with both of them right from the very beginning. This author has a way of writing these stories that keep you in the edge of your seat but are also so intensely romantic with an alpha male that can rival some of the best. That was the very epitome of this story-and I loved how it pulled so much emotion from me. It was so beyond sweet yet it was dark, and there was a serious undertone to the book. 5 stars!

I love all of Ms. Louise’s leading men but Scar has made it to the top of my list with his passion, honesty and courage. To me, Hana is his angel from heaven who will love him forever and chase all his bad dreams away. Scar is very protective over Hana and is always nearby watching her, checking out her surroundings, looking for anyone who could possibly cause her harm. He is a hero to Hana, but not to himself. His life changed when he met Hana; the sun was brighter, his days were more meaningful and for once, he was looking forward to the future. Scar has a sweet and tender side when it comes to Hana and I could only imagine how much she meant to him. Scar would give his life to make Hana happy so she could have the life she deserved.

I feel that Hana and Scar were made for each other but most people could have never imagined the beautiful, young socialite with the gruff and sexy bodyguard. On the surface they were opposites, but in reality, they were exactly the same. I love the scene where Hana gazes longingly at Scar with love in her eyes and hopefulness in her heart. The chemistry between these two tortured souls was like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Scar was reluctant to shed his bodyguard persona and pledge his love for Hana, because one wrong move could mean danger for Hana and her family. Hana and Scar’s story is one of redemption, romance and recovery. Hana gave Scar the love and security that he craved and Scar protected and loved Hana with every ounce of his being.

Filthy by Tia Louise is the second book in her romantic suspense series and this is Hana and Scar’s story.

Hana is the sister of Blake from Fearless and they are currently in a dangerous situation because of their family and need some protection. She is strong and tries to stand on her own feet, while also needing the love and protection of her sister and that made her a very relatable character.

Scar is a very broody and intense man. Some might call him monstrous, but he has been through a lot in his life and definitely has experienced darkness. That is why he deserves love even more and he is a great protector.

You meet both of them in Fearless and therefore I would recommend reading that book first and since then I wanted them to be together. Their romance feels meaningful, scorching hot and like coming alive. At the same time they have to face demons from the past and present and while those aspects indeed created tension and suspense, I was not the biggest fan of the plot twists.

Overall, Hana and Scar are meant to be together and I really love them, but the plot in this one was not as gripping for me. 3,5 stars.

Hana and Scar’s story is really intriguing, steamy fun. First, trigger warnings- former abuse and prior drug use. Now, I am not sure that the best way to read this book is out of order from Fearless, another suspense filled book and the first in the series. In this way, I’m not sure this is really standalone- we meet both characters in Fearless and in fact, their story starts there. That said, I think that there is enough for people to read this story and not be confused- it just feels deeper knowing what I know from the first story.

The story starts off with a bang and we find out more about how Scar became, well Scar. He and Hana have a protector and scared heiress kind of relationship. I loved his protective nature as he helped Hana overcome her past and Hana did a lot of the work herself too so I enjoyed her rise to normalcy. They were a strong couple. Also, seeing the different characters from the prior stories really bring the reader even more into this world. A fun, steamy and intriguing read!

O.M.G! I am utterly speechless!
This book ... Scar and Hana's story ... It is unputdownable, unforgettable, one of a kind, unbelievably good ... and an absolute recommended read!

And I don't know how to describe my feelings while reading.

It simultaneously sent me on one of the worst and best roller coaster rides of my life.
I vacillated between sinking into despair and heart pounding, feeling the butterfly sensation of first love and crying bitter tears ...
The suspense and anticipation of what else might happen kept me turning the pages as fast as possible. At the same time, I wanted to slow down to savor the story like a sip of aged whiskey.
And these characters ... It's amazing how lifelike and deep Ms. Louise created them, how she captured every facet of them ... Incredible.
I am still completely blown away by this phenomenal book and suffering from a literal book hangover!
And now I can't wait to read Ben's story ...

One of the Hawtest books I've read this year!!! So since I read Fearless I have wanted and waited for Scar's book!! And Tia did not disappoint with it either. I was hit by some very unexpected surprises but none I didn't love...well ok a couple I didn't like so well. Hana and Scars love story is definitely one for the books and I'll definitely be rereading it asap. After every thing they both went through in their lives they deserve all the happiness in the world. I love how we still hear from Blake and Hutch and I cannot wait for Dirk's book!! And we finally get all of the answers to the questions to everything that is a mystery surrounding these ladies. And this by far is one of the hawtest books Tia has ever written and I loved every single word of it!! If you haven't started this series do it NOW!!!

I loved the first book in this series Fearless but Filthy blew me away. I didn't think when I read Fearless I would like Hana as a main character. I knew she had been traumatized and I hurt for her character in that regard but there was something else about her that just bothered me.
I was wrong in Filthy she blossomed and became stronger than I think well anyone could imagine except maybe Scar.
We also get a horrifying look at exactly what kind of trauma she suffered and how exactly it can effect one young mind.
But Hana isn't the only one with Trauma Scar has his own and all the Scars to prove it. Inside and out. Hana however seems to be the perfect salve to treat those old scars if only she can reach him in time.
Okay that's enough, happy reading to you all don't forget some tissue and remember throwing things isn't nice!
I have voluntarily left this review.

FILTHY by Tia Louise this is the second book in the "A thrilling bodyguard romance". The first one was Fearless which I do think you have to read first. If not, you may feel like you have missed out and not fully enjoy this book. This book resolves around Hana and Scar who we again met in the previous book. Scar doesn't feel worthy of love so he keeps most people at a distance other than a few friends. When he sees Hana he feels so much for her but he tries to stay away but keeps her protected from a distance. Hana has been through a lot and is sort of wanting help and caring but still a side wants to be able to do things on her own...stand on her own two feet. But, she feels so much for Scar she does work to get him to see her as someone for him. This was a really good story and I hope to read more from this author.

Hanna and Scar’s story will have you at the edge of your seat. This is an amazing romantic suspense that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster that will pull your heartstrings, it’s raw, emotional with some witty banter. Hana and Scar are two broken souls trying to find their place and heal, they both have been to hell and now they are trying to find the light, together they grow and through love, understanding and acceptance they begin to heal and make a new life. Having met both Scar and Hana in Fearless I was desperate to know their full story and journey. This book is so intriguing and captivating that I read it in one sitting.

After reading Fearless, I couldn’t wait to get Hana and Scar’s story!!
These 2 are both broken from their past and I love seeing how they open up to each other throughout the book!! Scar is Hana’s protector and Hana shows Scars he’s worthy of love!!
This suspense kept me on my toes!! It will keep you guessing!! This book had a little bit of everything-mystery, sweetness, heartbreak and super hot chemistry!!
I highly recommend and I can wait to see what Tia comes up with next!!

*update! Listened to the audiobook!! Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators!! Love him!! Both narrators nailed it with this one!! They did so good bring these characters to life!!
