Marie, an unbeliever, has a big challenge in front of her. Winston, her husband of many years was shot, guarding a church. He’s left paralyzed from waist down and now in a wheelchair. He’s a believer, or he was, but now his faith now is suffering…. badly. He turns from God, away from everybody, even Marie.
Marie may have not have stepped inside a church for 40 years, but when she’s faced with losing her husband, the man she’s loved for 20 plus years, she looks up and prays. God hears.
It’s said the God works in interesting and unusual ways, this is especially true with Marie. The very church that Winston was guarding the night he was shot, are the very people that was there to help and guide her through thick and thin.
Oh no, it’s not instantaneous. It’s a journey, the struggles are real. Both Marie and Winston learn there’s a difference between faith, acceptance and trust. They realize all three are important, all three are necessary and the journey there may be an uphill climb, but the mountain top was worth it. After all, if God if for us, who can be against us?
I do advise to have tissues ready. Also, this is a standalone book but having read Love’s Protection, was good in that I got to ‘know’ the characters, their personalities, their flaws, which was good background.
This was a wonderful moving Christian story. Love, forgiveness, trusting God, looking beyond our circumstances to rely on God, all are illustrated in Marie and Winston's lives. God brings them through all the troubled times to heal them and bring glory to Himself. This book is so encouraging and inspirational. Mr. Chapin always shares spiritual insights in all of his books in a natural way that reaches out to meet the needs of people. I loved this book and the series so far.
I requested this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
Great book. This book has been a source of encouragement and inspiration, sometimes the situation does not change but when our perception is moved from the source of pain to God everything becomes bearable. I loved the statement that said something like when God increase in us, problem starts to decrease. At the beginning of the book Winston was hard to live with, but the wife remained steadfast in her Newfound faith which eventually helped Winston to re-establish his relationship with God
Another excellent book by T K Chapin. I so love all his books. This series is stand alone but is better enjoyed if you get to know the characters. This tells the story of the struggle of Winston who loses the power to walk as he works for his bodyguard company. His wife Marie, an unbeliever comes to know Jesus through these horrific circumstances and it tells of Winston’s journey from faith to anger and back to a stronger relationship with Jesus. Definitely recommend.
I always enjoy this authors books because they are both inspirational and hope filled. Secondly they address real problems we face in this world as Christians
Saving Winston This story resonated with me as Maria is in a marriage with Winston who has had life yank the covers out from under him and he is filled with bitterness and anger. Maria is left feeling lonely and frustrated, missing the ways things used to be. Is there hope for a restored relationship or a restored faith?
He is really hard to love right now after losing all feeling his legs He feels God has abandoned him — and he is extremely bitter. But during this time his wife comes to know the Lord . . .. and his son who has not seen in a long time. This is a really great book of God’s grace and healing!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Good but not as good as the other two in this series.
I love that Winston struggled with the loss of his legs. I love even more that he had a dedicated wife that stood by him. (Too many book end in divorce)
I would have like a little more detail in Greg’s reason for being astray. And the drama with Winston’s brother.
A wonderful story of second chances and to trust God and His timing. Although fiction it will strengthen your faith and make you realise that if you've drifted away from God, He is always waiting for us to turn back to him.
Every book I read of Chapin’s is so good. They are sermons that I read. Messages that are so clear in my daily walk. This book is very realistic and helps to get this old brain to pump and the heart pulse. I recommend Chapin’s books to my granddaughters. Just so excellent!
In this book you will read about the dangers of a job, turning your life to the Lord, and family. Winston and Marie’s story will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. The characters in this book are like a big family. You won’t be able to stop reading this book.
Such a great read. Real life Characters going through real life trials. It's a good thing they serve a loving God who walks beside both of them during this trial.
This author has never disappointed me. All of his books have a solid picture of Biblical faith and a Christian world view. In this series I met several characters I'd met before in his books. They all continue to seem real. He has added more elements of suspense, or mystery into this series. I always try to read whatever books I find by this author.
What a great illustration of what can come out of difficulties we face in our life. I enjoyed reading this book very much. The message was so inspiring. Great job T. K. Looking forward to the next one in this series.
