It’s taken years for Dawson’s band, AudioLock, to finally ‘make it’. Okay, maybe they hadn’t made it yet but they were invited to perform on the big stage at Rocktoberfest. Driving the beat of the band warmed his soul but Dawson really wished there was someone to warm his heart and bed.
Ben Williams’ passion for music and theater is all-encompassing but he doesn’t have a talented bone in his body. However, he does have the mind and personality to manage everything that happens when the curtain goes up. His ultimate goal of being a stage manager for a major rock band is in sight. He didn’t think anything could change his focus until a certain drummer appeared on Ben’s stage.
Dreams within reach, are Ben and Dawson willing to change so they can sync rhythms together?

This just came across as extremely judgemental and sexist for me with a dash of homophobic behaviour for good measure 🙄.
The story was absolutely ridiculous and couldn't pick a direction, then you learn barely anything about the characters - why do I care about their relationship when I know nothing about them? There was more about side characters than the couple, and not one character was likeable.
It also completely threw me when they talked about the venue for Rocktoberfest. Every other book has led me to think it's basically Glastonbury, but instead of a muddy field with our delightful English weather it's in the middle of the Nevada desert. This author is describing it as an outdoor arena with seating, which completely contradicts every other author's depiction - surely the basic facts of an interlinked series about a rock festival included the venue, so why is this version completely different?
Also the character Ben is the stage manager and says there are twenty bands total - there are twelve just from the books in this series, not to mention every book has mentioned one or two others at least. I've said this before - numbers are not my thing but even I can see when the math isn't mathing! I'm a details reader so I'm always going to pick up on inconsistency especially because I binge read series, and it's just frustrating when things don't flow between the books in a series.
So yep, literally not a single thing I liked about this one unfortunately.
Syncing Rhythms was a quick read with a lot of moving parts - instant connection, a one night stand that evolves into more, long-distance, lots of complications and lots of texts and calls... I enjoyed getting to know Dawson and Ben, but would have liked more time with them as a couple and more intimacy and emotion, especially from Ben...
I would love to see more about the AudioLock bandmates and keep up with Dawson and Ben as they actually start to build a life together - this felt like a prequel to a series, so hopefully it is...
This book review conflicted me. I liked it yes, but at the same time I struggled with it. I think it is a combination of my readers-block and run of good books that had set my bar so high, but unfortunately, this one fell kind of flat for me. I really liked Dawson's character and personality, but Ben felt very shallow and unlikeable to me and I couldn't feel their chemistry at all. It was very insta-love which isn't my favourite but will definitely appeal to others. Would I read this book again - probably not, but would I recommend it - absolutely, it wasn't for me but it might be for you
Interesting to see Dawson end up with someone who isn't a musician. I liked having a character like Ben who loves watching performances of all kinds but whose talent is for organization and management. These two have an instant connection and I enjoyed watching them build on that.
This was a good quick read. The characters were likable. It was definitely a very fast paced relationship but I loved how they wanted to be there for each other when things happened! Very enjoyable story! I am voluntarily leaving an honest review for this complimentary copy of this book
