Loved the book. Makes me love my home state even more!! It's a great story. I love how the relationship with the sister's developes over time. The fact that both sisters have issues to go through with the loss of their mother, and both loving the same man only shows how strong of a bond they have. Instead of it tearing them apart, it brings them closer together. Which is something you rarely see.

I enjoyed this book mostly because of how the author presents idea or writes the story. The words she used are intelligently chosen, and between those lines, you could get the idea of things worth reading and cherishing.
I like the way the characters are developed and presented. Each character that comes, had its own way of developing and their past or reasons that made them who they are. It’s also good that the author used the style of giving the main characters a way to tell the readers what’s going on in their minds. You hear all three of them Trudie, Lane and Mason in an exact timing.
I guess, the story is realistic, they’re really situations when siblings could fall in love with one man. The consequences of this are what you are about to read :0 Mrs. Higman writes this lightly and vividly described , letting the words come to real life.
I laugh and cried hard for this one, I really felt the pain when you want someone, but you can’t have them because someone close to you want them too, and whatever decision you make, someone’s got to be hurt. The unpredictable behaviors and decisions of the characters prompt me to read on and on, and especially the funny but witty remarks scattered in this book..:D
I also loved the cover, something in it tells me, to grab and read it!
Recommended to all who wants to experience unconditional love without the necessity to be erotic nor hot, just true and sisterly.
Be prepare to follow your hearts desire and to love HUMBLY!
This is yet another of my Love Finds You re-reads and when I read it the first time, I thought it was sweet and cute. However, when I read it this time around, I found it to be a very annoying read!
The story centers around Trudie and Lane Abernathy, and the relationship they have with Mason. Lane had dated Mason briefly, but because she felt uncomfortable with taking a professional relationship to an intimate one, she broke it off, then set him up with her sister Trudie. Once she sees how Mason treats Trudie, Lane suddenly wants him back and manipulates Trudie into giving him up for her. This goes on for most of the book, but Lane feels increasingly guilty and heartsick over this.
Trudie was a pushover, not standing up for herself at all. I found it very hard to respect her as a heroine and really had a hard time connecting to her.
Mason was much better, he knew he wanted Trudie, but was trying to find a way to tell Lane how he felt. That being said, he still bowed to his father's dying wish for a time and tried to take over his business upon his death, even though Mason knew it wasn't his calling. He wasn't very proactive about exploring his other options before taking over the business, and it seemed out of character for a financial planner.
All in all, I'd say it was worth reading once if you enjoy Christian romance, but also very skippable. I'll be deleting it from my Kindle Library...
In most historical romance novels I read, and I’ve consumed hundreds, the main characters are so beautiful or handsome they can’t dodge Cupid’s arrow when they meet. That’s not the case with Trudie Abernathy, an ordinary gal who could teach young women of today a thing or two about real beauty that even Solomon would notice although he had 700 wives and 300 concubines. Solomon wrote about the ideal woman in Proverbs 31, and Trudie is the type of woman who would qualify in many ways. Despite a sister who gives her makeovers and tries to create an elegant woman out of her, Trudie remains herself, enjoying common things in life, and forgetting much of what her sis teaches that supposedly would help Trudie catch a man. Enter Mason, the blind date the sister arranges for Trudie. Mason is one of the sister’s former boyfriends, and he’s the one who’s the perfect athletic specimen with height and the physical attributes women swarm to like ants after a bread crumb. Yet, Trudie gets though the crowd and likes who he is, too. Mason seems to return the affection—but circumstances cause Trudie to turn away from him. Will love find her? By the title readers know love finds somebody in Humble, Texas. When you meet Trudie, you’ll hope she’s the one. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
So in this book is about Trudie, a girl with rather low self esteem, who gets set up by her sister with the guy of her dreams...only to have her sister decide she's in love with him. So Trudie tries to step back and let her sister be happy. Even though the guy in in love with her, and not the sister.
The biggest problem I have with this book was trying to believe that the sister could be so nice...and still ask Trudie to let her take a crack at the guy. After seeing them make out. Nope sorry, that's not what nice people do. It's what self centered and cruel people do. And her character isn't. Making the book very very unbelievable for me.
This was THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!! I loved that book so much! Not only was it a Christian book, it was the sweetest story and the sweetest type of love. I have always been a lover of romance, and this was the perfect book for me. It made me happy all over. I recommend this book to anyone who loves love just as much as I do. If you are looking for a good romance novel that makes you happy about life, then this is the best book to read!! I love this book and I hope that you will like it too!!❤️
I had a harder time getting into this novel at first. Primarily because I wasn't sure I enjoyed Trudie's character all that much. She came across as apathetic rather than humble to me, but once I understood her motivations from her backstory, things started to make sense. I don't know that I've ever seen an LFY book that features what amounts to a love triangle, and I thought it was very interesting in the way it played out. As the quieter older sister to a very 'gregarious' younger sister, I can definitely see Trudie feeling like she needed to step aside so that Lane and Mason could be together if they wanted to be. I did like the way the story played out ultimately, and appreciated that the author brought faith in God to be a very important part of Trudie's, Lane's, and Mason's lives. 3.5 stars
What is it like to be in live with the same man as your sister? How would you handle the situation? Would you give this man up for your sister? Would you be eaten up with guilt if you were the sister he chose. Read this book book look at the way the Abernathy sisters chose to handle their man. It was a great fun loving book and U really enjoyed reading it.
The characters in this book were all pretty annoying and bland. Also not reflective of my experience with Humble, Texas. No one went to Sonic? No one spent forever in traffic? At one point a character falls asleep outside and doesn't wake up covered in mosquito bites and sun burn? okay
The Abernathy sisters. One is bright, one is beautiful, but both are in love with the same man. One sister will let go of love, and like a kite string untethering in the wind, the choice will undo each of their lives. What will it take to heal their hearts, for love to find them in a place called Humble, Texas?

My review:
I absolutely adored this romantic romp in the town of Humble, Texas. The story was incredibly engaging and very well-written. It had a new twist where a few other points of view beyond the hero and heroine occurred, probably to give perspective to things that I can't mention. I was so totally into the story that the people seemed real to me. There were no unlikeable characters, even the ones that you wanted to have something against. I was impressed with how the author accomplished that.
The love the sisters had for each other was heart-wrenchingly tender, and Mason is probably the coolest hero I've ever encountered in a romance novel. I enjoyed the tension, but even moreso I loved the expressed humility and love that was so pervasive throughout this story. It totally inspired me and I highly recommend it. Why? Because it'll give your heart rainbows. To find out what I mean you'll just have to read Love Finds You in Humble Texas for yourself. You won't regret it.
Love Finds You in Humble Texas, by Anita Higman tells the story of Trudie falling in love with Mason, a very financially secure financial adviser on a blind date set up by Lane, her sister, a past love of his. Not liking the results of the date, Lane tries to reverse them telling Trudie she's already in love with with Mason, who treats Trudie very well, visiting her work site, a clothes shop, buying her many gifts. Trudie visits Mason at his office to learn he may soon be taking over his father's business as a funeral director as his father's health has gone bad. Mason's father asks Mason if he's found love yet to learn of Trudie but Mason doesn't know if he really loves her. Lane tells Mason she loves him as he leaves to be with his dying father and at his funeral he tells Lane he does not love her though that evening Trudie hears a love song on the radio called in for her by Mason. At Trudie's art show, a hobby she can develop after her sister pays for her to attend art school, she sees Lane come in with Mason as a friend and other women flock to him, as Lane reconnects with Hayden, her first great love from high school, who tells Lane he moved back to Houston to find her, hoping to resume their past love. Mason picks up Trudie in a 1969 Corvette he recently bought to replace his his last tasteless car to take her to meet his family and then to proceed to the Botanic Gardens where proposes to her giving her a very exquisite engagement ring prior to their wedding.
What would happen if two sisters both fell in love with the same man?
That is the question at the heart of this cute romantic story.
"Love Finds You in Humble Texas" by author Anita Higman, is a delightful book about Trudie Abernathy and her sister Lane. Trudie sees her image coach sister as having her life pulled together, but sees herself as . . . well, um . . . as a dung beetle.
For Trudie's thirtieth birthday, Lane sets out to give her an image makeover and a blind date with a man she herself passed over. But when Lane sees how well Mason Wimberley treats Trudie, she realizes she made a huge mistake and finds herself in love with the first man Trudie has taken an interest in.
Trudie, in her humble way, backs away from her chance at love when she discovers Lane's feelings, but Mason isn't easily dissuaded. Though their romance is put on a back burner, he helps Trudie re-discover a talent she has buried for years.
The take-away messages from this book for me are following your God-given talents and abilities and the joy of being humble and selfless.

So Trudie falls in with Lane's plans, and meets Mason Wimberley, a wonderful man, that Trudie can feel herself falling for FAST!
Of course that was until her sister Lane decided she is in love with Mason. Oh the hurt and indecision that Trudie faces. She gives up Mason, but her heart is feeling like it is breaking into a million peices.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat, wondering which sister will find true love in Humble Texas? Or will both sisters? Trudie will re-discover her lost passion in art, and begin painting again. The sisters will both deal with past hurts from family deaths and issues. Just a totally captivating story.

Not the best book from the "Love Finds You In.." books. In fact I don't really think I was able to get into it well enough at all. It seemed too forced of a story. Also, I know it is a bit strange, but because Gone with the Wind is my favorite book and film, at least spell Vivien Leigh's name correctly (she spelled it Vivian Lee).
The story follows two sisters and a man, mainly Trudie who is 30 and ends up going on a blind date on her birthday in which her sister Lane set up for her. Mason seems to be the most amazing man (a little too out of the ordinary which made it truly odd to read). The problem is that while Trudie seems to hit it off with Mason, Lane thinks she may have feelings for Mason as well. Since Lane knew him first, Trudie is asked to pretty much back off, but this makes it difficult since Mason is pursuing her. Oh the drama.
I don't really think I like the more modern tales that are written for these books. There wasn't enough God in this book in particular. It was a bit strange too that a grown single man would buy lingerie for a woman he just met. . .uhhh no! Awkward!
I always enjoy reading of of these books and have read this author before so it is a match for me...
Trudie is approaching thirty so her sister gives her a makeover and a blind date to help as only sisters can... Lane was the beauty in the family and Trudie felt she would always be second best. It is odd to say the least, to find that Mason finds her attractive and wants to be with her- instead of Lane. This is a wonderful story where we will see the ugly duckling, so to speak, turn into a swan and have her dreams renewed. Mason is a man after my heart when he chooses to court Trudie in a grand way.
Misunderstandings abound in this book but not to worry- Anita puts them to right. Love will conquer.
I always thought I enjoyed historical fiction more than contemporary fiction but now I'm positive that is the case! There is just something about a time when you didn't kiss on your first date or sometimes even until you were engaged that I really enjoy. I'm sure it's the anticipation and the romantic tension that I missed in this book. The story was engaging and the relationship between the sisters was complex but I felt the romance was a bit lacking. All in all, it was an enjoyable read but I'm not sure it is one that I would read again and again.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved Trudie and the fact that she was plain just made me love her more. I did have problems with Lane though like the fact that she sees Trudie and Mason kissing and she still has the nerve to tell Trudie to stop dating him to see if she has a chance with him. Maybe what the author should have done was write a book just about Lane. It seemed like she just crammed everything in the last chapters concerning Lane. Other than that I loved Mason and Trudie's story and would read more of the author's books.
I enjoyed the book because it went through a lady's life being transformed for the better by her connecting to God and allowing herself to depend on those around her for support. Plus, her and her sister both end up developing feelings for the same guy! I feel that it keeps the suspense of the book going. The book is also written in third person so you're able to read everyone's thoughts, frustrations, or even fantasies. I enjoyed the book immensely. If you like romance or drama you'll probably like this book as well.
Sweet story. I love the idea that Mason continues to pursue her - it's fantastic. His diligence, when he knows they have a mutual attraction, is delightful, funny....and of course romantic. Anita Higman even makes Lane - the sister you want to throttle - likeable and sympathetic (to an extent). The story did end very happily-ever-afterish, but left that wonderful warm, delightful feeling in its wake, so I gladly accepted it. It's a lighthearted story with an easy pace.
This is a sweet story of two sisters who are interested in the same man. As someone with two sisters, I found it very interesting. I only wish the author had developed the love between the main hero and heroine just a bit more. We get one great chapter on their relationship and not too much else until the end.
Had to read this book because I lived in Humble TX for 20 years! Cute storyline but most fun was figuring out the places she used with different names and there are plenty of them there - a local downtown eatery filled with antiques and old signs, a family (including the male main character) who owned the local funeral home/cemetery and references to old familiar street names!
I love this book because it most relates to my sister and I. although the problems in this book arent true between me and my sister, i can easily understand the character's point of view. The unselfish desire to help your sister no matter what, even to sacrifice your own chance at true love.
