Aging and broken bridges, dams, roads with rail that hasn't been improved in 50 years, this country is spiraling downwards. Dennis Kuchinich as mayor of Cleveland was almost killed by the mob for opposing privatization of electric production. Liberals killed the concept of publicly owned nuclear power across the country.
A little late finishing this one, but this has been one of my favorites in a long while. Contains some great historical perspectives on different projects in the US, a really nice skim of international news organized by region. I particularly liked the updates towards the end of this issue about ongoing strikes and labor negotiations and hope to see that continued in future issues.
Hands down my favorite volume ever. Visually appealing and rich with perspective and relevance. Some will cringe at the glossy, ‘mainstream’ feel of this issue but I think taking steps to tap into a growing progressive movement is imperative as long as the message remains intact.
