The Other Woman

Rate this book
Former cop Vic Fallon only wanted to get home to Sandusky, Ohio in time for Christmas after completing his latest private eye assignment. A chance meeting in the Atlanta airport with a U. S. Senator from his hometown thrusts Vic into a murder investigation when the man turns up dead shortly after they speak. The unwanted case produces more questions than answers. Why did the Senator ask Vic to deliver a Christmas card for him rather than mailing it himself, and why does the recipient react with hostility when she finds out who it’s from? Why is the FBI looking at Vic up close and personal when he wasn’t involved in the killing? And why does a police detective from Atlanta show up in Sandusky, asking questions that have little to do with the murder investigation? Vic’s life becomes more complicated when the woman he delivered the card to is arrested after an accidental shooting, and he feels a responsibility to prove her innocence. Add the strain that the case places on Vic’s current romantic relationship, and it results in the holiday from Hell. Can Vic solve the multi-pronged mystery he’s found himself in the middle of and repair the damage to his love life? Or will the other woman cause a permanent rift?

A well-crafted murder mystery that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Author Tim Smith weaves a gripping murder mystery with intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints a dramatic and riveting tale of intrigue and suspense in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and conviction. It’s a fast-paced novel that will keep you engaged from the first page to the last.

The book description gives a sneak preview: ‘Former cop Vic Fallon only wanted to get home to Sandusky, Ohio in time for Christmas after completing his latest private eye assignment. Now, if that’s not enough to get your curiosity juices flowing, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. It’s my first time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class murder mystery with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of mystery, thriller and suspense will want it!

The Other Woman (Vic Fallon Book 4) had every element a good story should have. An intriguing plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I really look for in a good book.

It’s one of those stories that come along once in a while that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader!

I’ll be looking forward to reading more from Tim Smith in the future. I would highly recommend this book to all fans of the mystery, thriller and suspense genre. A well-deserved five stars from me.

This is a well-crafted murder mystery. The characters are real and believable. The plot is quick-paced and full of subtle and not so subtle twists to make this story a mesmerizing read.

This mystery has an imbedded love story. The story is also set during Christmastime, a time of goodwill. Yet, this story takes many turns away from this serene scene. Suddenly, Former cop Vic Fallon is thrust into a complicated murder investigation that is hard to unravel. There are far more questions than answers in this case.

All Vic really wanted to do is to return home to Sandusky, Ohio for Christmas after his last assignment. But how did Vic get a US Senator to ask him to deliver a Christmas card for him? Why didn’t he mail it himself? Why does the recipient react angrily when she finds out who sent the card? Further, why is the FBI looking for Vic? What did he do wrong? Why does a police detective arrive in his hometown asking him questions about a killing he knows nothing about? If this isn’t enough to unravel, Vic is also involved in a romantic relationship which results in a really awful holiday for him.

The Other Woman (Vic Fallon Book 4) has all the elements of a good story. It has an intriguing plot, attention to detail and best of all a well-thought out character development. The characters are at once complex and yet very authentic. There is also a lot of well illustrated scenes that will make the reader feel like he is right part of the story. This for me is what makes a mystery so juicy to read and digest. This one really made me think.

This is my first book by Tim Smith and considering I don't read a lot of murder mysteries isn't surprising. What's surprising is that I was absolutely hooked to the book right from the start!

Reading books is a hobby of mine and I like to unwind and relax with a good read if am not with my course books :stuck_out_tongue: So I don't usually go for mysteries and suspense novels unless the mood strikes me.

So, I've been reading a few pages over the weekend and the last two days as I and when I get time. Guess what, the book was riveting & intense. I loved the mystery equation that kept me on my toes and guessing through out. Too bad I don't make a good cop because a lot of guesses were not right but that's why the book is exciting. Isn't it?

Now, now, now, I don't want to give away the story. But if you want to know who's behind the traps laid for Vic, or if his relationship survives the suddenly free falling life of his, you must pick this up NOW!

This is an intriguing murder/mystery of National consequences. As assassinated US Senator somehow draws our hero, Vic Falllon into a series of lies, attempted murder, strong arming Feds, and crooked cops.

But its Christmas, and Vic and his lady friend have romantic encounters that would sizzle the snow off the arctic ice pack. But when jealousy enters the picture, will they still be together for New Years?

And oh by the way... Vic has a gun put to his head if he doesn't give up something he doesn't really have.

This is a great read, and I'd have to say, one of Tim Smith's best.

A Treat for Pulp Fiction Fans!
By T.J. Savage
With “The Other Woman” (Vic Fallon Book Four), Tim Smith has once again given us the classic private eye in a contemporary setting. His character, Vic Fallon, is a blend of Phillip Marlowe, Peter Gunn, and Joe Mannix, with a pinch of Jim Rockford added for seasoning. This is the fourth installment in this entertaining series, following “The Bundle,” “Lido Key,” and “The Dirty Blonde.” This time out, the former cop is thrust into a multi-pronged murder mystery with political overtones.
This book has all of the classic elements—tough wisecracking detective who plays by his own set of rules, a beautiful femme fatale, shady small-time crooks who populate waterfront bars, and cops who may not be as honest as they should be. Add a potential love triangle with “the other woman,” along with some steamy encounters, and you have the complete package. The story and atmosphere put you in mind of a classic crime caper from the glory days of B-movies. The only thing missing is a cool jazz score, but you can provide your own. As with most of his mystery/thrillers, Smith employs the double climax—just when you think the mystery is solved, along comes another loose end that begs to be tied up. The situations he puts his characters into are realistic, and many of the plot twists are things that could happen to any of us.
Make a date with “The Other Woman.” You won’t be disappointed.
