About the author

David Joel Horowitz was an American conservative writer and activist. He was a founder and president of the David Horowitz Freedom Center (DHFC); editor of the Center's website FrontPage Magazine; and director of Discover the Networks, a website that tracks individuals and groups on the political left. Horowitz also founded the organization Students for Academic Freedom.
Horowitz wrote several books with author Peter Collier, including four on prominent 20th-century American families. He and Collier have collaborated on books about cultural criticism. Horowitz worked as a columnist for Salon.
From 1956 to 1975, Horowitz was an outspoken adherent of the New Left. He later rejected progressive ideas and became a defender of neoconservatism. Horowitz recounted his ideological journey in a series of retrospective books, culminating with his 1996 memoir Radical Son: A Generational Odyssey.

I was hoping to read something in regards to The Final Battle.

I found myself reading through page after page of everything I already know ,hoping to get to the part where the title eludes ! THE NEXT ELECTION COULD BE THE LAST!!!! I WAS HOPING FOR HIS INSIGHT! I was disappointed but feel angry to be reminded of all that this poor country of ours has been subjected too!
We need GOD step in for the FINAL BATTLE!!

This book is a succinct summary of how the once honorable Democrat Party has morphed into a hideous Marxist totalitarian political machine. It outlines (and provides proof positive) the many steps the Leftist controlled DNC is taking to dismantle the United States Bill of Rights and entire Constitution including: 1) their efforts to eliminate the Electoral College, jettison the United States Senate, and enlarge/pack the Supreme Court thereby canceling an independent judiciary; 2) their deliberate sabotaging of election integrity through hostile federal capture of our voting systems; 3) their methodical erasure of our international borders thereby jeopardizing both national identity and sovereignty; 4) their ideological capture of our military, federal law enforcement, and other agencies through political targeting and expulsion of conservatives; and particularly egregious, 5) their indoctrination of our youth with Critical Race and Gender Theory to further a Leftist dystopian socialist agenda. To those who are already awake to the Democrat Party’s ultimate goal of one party rule and permanent power, this book may merely be a handy review of the thousand lethal cuts perpetrated over the past few years against our Founding Fathers’ original vision of a free nation governed by a careful balance of power. This is another book outlining the destruction the Democrat party has done with their division and bad economic decisions. Marxism has no place in America. I am still waiting for all these democrats to be prosecuted for breaking the laws in America in order to try to form this “one party” dictatorship. In 2005, former President Jimmy Carter and the former Secretary of State James Baker formed the Committee on Federal Election Reform that issued a series of recommendations to strengthen the integrity of elections, which included:

1. Increase voter ID
2. Minimize the use of mail-in ballots
3. Ban ballot harvesting by third parties
4. Purge voter rolls of ineligible voter names, and
5. Allow election observers during ballot counting.

Every single one of these recommendations was reversed or ignored during the election of 2020. The officials are fully aware that voter fraud exists, but they willingly go along with the powers that be and pretend that everything is perfectly legitimate while most people realize we are being lied to. If the sanctity of the vote is compromised, we no longer have a legitimate Republic. David Horowitz writes a fine book detailing the cultural and electoral chaos perpetrated on U.S. citizens over the past few years, yet he still remains hopeful there will be a historical course correction in the future.

This felt like a rushed book, and was more of a screed against the Dem's than it was a balanced view of the current political situation. On every issue, it cast the Dem's in the worst light it could. While the author worked hard to support his points with citations, nearly every citation is a website, which doesn't instill a lot of confidence in the reader. Basically the argument of the book is that the Dems are power hungry and are doing all they can to make the USA a one-party country where they have all the power. Any political position that furthers that, they will adopt. And the media are on cahoots with them. If it's all true, it's a disturbing reality, but I doubt that it's all as true as Horowitz wants us to think it is.

It also was not super well-written. One paragraph on p.180 introduces a character by last name only, assuming that the reader knows their full name and government position. Or was the book supposed to cover that, and the editor missed it?

Similar to Lee Smith's Plot Against the President, Julie Kelly's Disloyal Opposition, and Dr. Paul Elias Alexander's Presidential Takedown, Final Battle details the steps taken by the political opponents of President Trump and the working class Americans that he worked to protect. David Horowitz does a thorough job of describing Trump's opposition, the maneuvers and actions they have taken to stop him and destroy his "good guy" image.

The evidence Horowitz presents is disturbing, unsettling, and deeply upsetting but it is all based on facts uncovered and disseminated through various media outlets, from those that support Trump and those that oppose him. Horowitz tosses in his own opinion alongside the factual components brought to light, each intelligently reasoned to the audience.

Horowitz never injects humor or sarcasm to soften the brutality of the facts - the demented and destructive ideals espoused by Trump's opposition. He presents the statements and actions recorded by Trump's opposition. Horowitz documents a piece of America's history. An ugly piece that describes the struggles and conflicts Americans face in the present, and will irrevocably be a part of America's past.

In the 2000 Presidential Election, George W Bush won with help from a very close race in Florida. The left contested the results and, even after Bush won about 23 recounts, insisted on a bi-partisan election commission to investigate our election processes and suggest improvements. The two biggest suggestions this commission made were (1) to require photo IDs to cast a vote and (2) to require voting to be done in person, where the photo IDs could be checked to verify the identity of the vote caster.

With that in mind, I read this work by David Horowitz and here are my favorite passages:

"The loosening of the rules, and the obstruction of Republican poll-watchers, made "ballot dumps" easier and led to dramatic spikes in the results. A Pennsylvania Senate hearing three weeks after the election, was presented with sworn testimony that in one such dump, Biden received roughly 570,000 votes - or 99.4 percent of those cast, while Trump received only 3,200 or 0.6 percent ballots submitted. Biden's margin in winning Pennsylvania was about 81,000 votes."

"On the other hand, to believe that Biden had won, one would have to believe that a mentally challenged candidate, who campaigned from his basement, who could hardly sustain a train of thought and couldn't get through a campaign speech without a teleprompter, whose crowds were generally in the low double-digits, while Trump was drawing thirty and fifty thousand supporters to his rallies - one would have to believe that this fumbling figure received nearly 12 million more votes than Barack Obama at his peak."

"While the anti-Trump media dismissed such speculations as conspiracy theories, the FBI was forced to confirm that, of the eighteen men involved in a previous plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, no fewer than twelve were paid FBI informants."

"From the May 25 death of George Floyd through Election Day, there had been at least 746 violent riots nationwide, 95 percent of which were conducted or led by Black Lives Matter, an organization formally endorsed by the Democratic Party, and by Antifa, an armed communist militia whose declared purpose was to take the law into its own hands because government couldn't be trusted to know who the fascists were."

"The event the Times described as "the beginning of American slavery" was itself a fabrication. The twenty Africans were not slaves but indentured servants destined to work for five to seven years to pay off their passage to America and then be freed. The majority of the labor force in Virginia was composed of such indentured servants, and the majority of them were white. Sinc all the slaves shipped to America were enslaved by black Africans and sold at slave auctions in Ghana and Benin, their enslavement had nothing to do with "American racism" but was the continuation of a practice that had existed in Africa for a thousand years before a white person ever set foot there."

"Too many African Americans were still poor and unable to sustain themselves without government help. But there was such help available. Moreover, since 80 percent of African Americans were not poor or on welfare, it was implausible to suggest without evidence that race and racism accounted for the plight of the other 20 percent. Only by erasing the responsibility of individuals for their choices and actions was it possible to reduce people to their racial identities and claim that bigotry was the cause of disparity wherever it was found."

"Not coincidentally, California now leads the country not in innovation but in dysfunction; along with the country's largest immigrant population, it now has the highest poverty rate in the country, ahead of Mississippi and West Virginia. The United Nations compared the tent encampments of San Francisco to the slums of New Delhi and Mexico City."

"In their famous declaration of war, Weather underground terrorists stated that "our job is to lead white kids into armed revolution" against the U.S. government primarily by attacking the police. The Democrats' nationwide defund the police efforts and the Black Lives Matter indictment of police as murderers in advance of, and in difference to, the facts, are heirs to the violent Marxist organizations of the sixties."

"The hypocrisy of the Democrats and their radical war against the system was dramatically displayed by "Squad" member Cori Bush. Bush was a leading and impassioned advocate of defunding the police and replacing them with mental health experts. In July 2021 it was revealed that Bush had spent $70,000 in campaign funds for a private security force to protect her over a three-month period. Evidently, law enforcement was not the problem, except for those who guarded ordinary people and the poor."

"...Democrats would have to confront the fact that while black males make up 6 percent of the population, they commit half the nation's murders and robberies and more then 36 percent of all violent crimes. Blacks also account for more than 80 percents of the victims of those crimes."

"What had changed was the politics. The Democrats now saw that by ordering every man, woman, and child in the country to war face masks, they could blame Trump and his advisers for not wearing masks and being derelict in the battle against the virus. At the same time, forcing people to wear masks was a test of power, asserting the government's authority to act by fiat and compel the public to obey its commands."

"The main polluters of the world, composing roughly a third of its population, are China and India. Both have refused to observe the restraints proposed in the Paris Climate Accord. Therefore, nothing America can do by itself will achieve the goals sought by the climate alarmists."

"The apocalyptic climate crisis is the justifying rationale; the infrastructure of a totalitarian state is the result.

"Paying people to do nothing is demoralizing and dependency-creating, and it is the reason that trillions of dollars in welfare payments over a quarter of a century had no impact on the poverty level. This prompted the 1996 Clinton welfare reform, whose central feature was imposing work requirements on recipients of government aid."

"The primary focus and sole permanent feature of its child allowance policy would be not tax relief but the elimination of all work requirements and work incentives from the current child credit program. In pursuing this change, the (Biden) administration explicitly seeks to overturn the foundations of welfare reform established during the Clinton presidency - in short, to set back the clock on welfare twenty-five years."

"how did Georgia come to alter its election rules in the year of a crucial presidential election? On March 6, 2020, its Republican Secretary of State - an anti-Trump Republican named Brad Raffensperger - signed a consent decree with officials form the Democrat Party of Georgia, the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Commitee, and Democrat Congressional Campaign. Through this decree he entered 'a Compromise Settlement Agreement and Release'. That agreement changed the statutory requirements...for verifying signatures on absentee ballot envelopes in order to confirm the voter's identity."

"In Georgia, where Biden's final margin of victory was a mere 11,799 votes, Trump and his legal team claimed that illegal ballots had been cast by or in the name of (a) more than 2,500 felons, (b) 66,247 underage voters, (c) 2,423 unristered voters, (d) 4,926 individuals who had failed to register prior to the state's deadline, (e) 395 individuals who also voted in another state, (f) 40,279 people who had moved without re-registering (g) 30,000 to 40,000 people whose absentee ballots lacked a valid, verifiable signature, (h) 20,311 voters who had moved out of state and (i) 10,315 people who were dead."

I have read other books by this author and have been impressed with him.

This book is awesome. It gets to the core of the horrible agenda the progressives (aka Democrat party) have in store for the United States if we, as NORMAL Americans who want to save our country, don't step up and do the work needed to reverse the horrible trends which are overtaking our once great country. We need to end the planned federal takeover of all of our elections, packing of the Supreme Court, eliminating the filibuster, CRT, transgenderism, wokeism, and all the other "isms" the Democrats are attempting to install in an effort to "transform" America into their "socialist utopia". This MUST be stopped. Our children and grandchildren are worth it. We must also stop the indoctrination which is taking over the public education system.

I was initially skeptical about reading this book since I thought it might just be one man’s opinion. I was so wrong! All the details are backed by facts and are referenced and fact-checked in the appendix. It is scary to think about how poorly our 2020 presidential election was handled and how election rules were changed just days before election night to tip the scales! We had so many illegal voters identified yet no one could talk about it without being called a national terrorist! How silly it all is, and yet how terrifying it is to think the people in charge seem to think it’s ok that our country is so divided. Make time this year to read this book! Don’t miss it! You will be filled with a new perspective on how our government and media control the narrative and only share what they want the public to know! It leaves the question: ‘what will our country look like in the future’?

I expected more. If the title is an indicator of the argument, he doesn’t really address why “The next election could be the last.”
The reader would have to infer that continuation of such policies will lead to end of elections.


Horowitz gave an effective account and analysis of the initiatives, plans, and actions of the Democrats in power. Much of what was covered was unpacking common talking points of the Right. Democrats are terrible, here’s why. Ok. I get the point.

But I pulled the book of the shelf because the title was compelling and indicated more.

I don’t think Horowitz delivered in this sense.

This book is written by a far-right ideologue, BUT it is very well-footnoted, so one can easily check each of his assertions. The overall tone is quite acerbic, so only those on the political right will enjoy reading it. I gave it four stars, but it could easily be a five-star book if one ignores the vigorous style.

While there may be some potential readers who are disillusioned with both major political parties and see little difference in how they con and betray the populace for their own ends, Horowitz convincingly makes the case that the Democrat Party has been totally captured by the radical progressive left and is in the process of utterly destroying completely the foundations of cultural and economic free America with deception after deception and a beyond-extremist agenda. I say "convincingly" because Horowitz doesn't simply throw out accusations and sling mud against the wall, but rather meticulously documents and sources every fact with 35 pages of endnotes. He closes the loop on every allegation he makes. And the conclusion is clear: the progressive left wants to convert America into a single party nation under an extremist socialist system with total power and control top down.

Consider, for example, the explanation of the Democrat strategy for the 2022 midterm elections as described on pp. 176-7: "If Democrats could still deploy Trump-hatred and serial slanders of Republicans as 'white supremacists,' 'patriotic extremists,' and 'violent insurrectionists,' and use them to win the 2022 midterms, they would be in a position to secure the provisions of the For the People Act--to federalize elections, to make mail-in balloting the law nationwide, to outlaw voter IDs, to enforce open borders, to change the electoral map, to abolish the Electoral College, to pack the Supreme Court, and to establish that tyranny of the majority they had spent so much political capital to achieve." And the revelations of what actually occurred, for another example, with the fall of Afghanistan are shocking in their deceit and heartbreaking in their outcome. (That alone should be cause for the impeachment of President Biden!)

Furthermore, as to characteristics and methods of the Democrat radicals, Horowitz explains (pp. 191-2): "Radical utopians seeking to change the world invariably have three traits in common...First, radicals are in a hurry. Their task is large and the opportunities to achieve it scarce...Second, because radicals are in a hurry, they are impatient with process and persuasion, which makes them generally tone deaf to the majority that opposes them...Third, radicals generate energy for their movements by singling out a social subgroup, usually a racial or religious minority, to demonize as the enemy of these liberating schemes." However, a temporary reprieve was achieved in the midterms when enough voters saw through the schemes and removed Democrats from control of the U.S. House. And a cultural backlash is occurring--for example in education, with parents now aware through having seen Zoom courses during the COVID shutdown of schools of how their children were being indoctrinated with "anti-American race theories and gender extremism."

The last chapter is titled WHERE ARE WE HEADED? and Horowitz concludes that "should the next free and fair election result in a Democrat victory, the party of the righteous [italics mine] [i.e., sarcastically meaning the Democrat Party] will find ways to make sure it is the last." Chilling to contemplate. I would love to see this book as required reading before anyone is permitted to register to vote. Really now, don't we always claim we want an "informed" electorate?

I was hoping to find David Horowitz's insights on the strategies and tactics that Conservatives would use to triumph in an upcoming Final Battle. Instead he reminds us that we are involved in an ongoing battle that will turn into our last one if we lose. And he reminds us that we are losing.

No, this is not a blueprint for victory. It is an anatomy of a stolen election and a history of its consequences. Horowitz details the steps taken by the Left to defeat and demonize President Trump and the 74 million working class Americans who supported him. This book does a thorough job of describing the way Trump’s radical opponents accomplished their dirty work from illegally subverting election procedures to staging a fake insurrection on January 6, 2021.

Horowitz lays out the evidence brutally and precisely. It is all based on facts uncovered and disseminated through various media outlets, from both those that support Trump and those that oppose him.

Horowitz sums up the situation beautifully:

"Barbarian terrorist forces are already at the gates, and inside them, American leaders—both military and civilian—are preoccupied with delusional threats that are said to be existential—climate change, white supremacy, patriotic extremism. But the greatest existential threat to American democracy is the drive by the Democrat Party to create a one-party socialist state—a fascist state. This is manifest in their assault on the First Amendment through so-called “cancel culture” and their collusion in the deplatforming of a president of the United States and his 74 million supporters.

They have pressed for the dismantling of the system of checks and balances, which has been the bulwark of American democracy for over 240 years. They have done this by demonizing their domestic political opponents, attempting to abolish the Electoral College, and pushing to abolish the filibuster and to pack the Supreme Court; they have attacked the integrity of the electoral system by opposing voter IDs; they have assaulted anyone who questions election results as enemies of American democracy; and they have replaced America’s liberating culture of individualism with a tribal identity politics that undermines the foundations of the constitutional system.

Finally, while handing Islamic terrorists their greatest victory since 9/11, they have sought to attack and discredit their democratic opponents as “domestic extremists” and terrorists. Their zealous advocacy of socialist economics and political fascism sets us on the path to a totalitarian future. All that awaits the sad conclusion to these efforts are the gulags and deprogramming camps, which they are not shy about promoting."

At one time, we were a nation of laws designed to control a "tyranny of the majority" by providing a system of checks and balances that would enable all citizens to participate in the freedoms enabled by our constitutional republic.

However, all of that is threatened by the actions of one party--the Democrat party. From the entirely unhistorical 1619 Project, to the equally specious critical race theory, the Ds are out to divide this nation by race. They further seek to divide us by sexual orientation, religion and speech.

What is true is that if Democrats win majorities in both houses of Congress and the Presidency through massive amounts of unverifiable mail-in ballots, granting immediate citizenship to those streaking across our southern border and continue the practice of ballot harvesting, they will then seek to pack the courts, outlaw free assembly and speech to all those who oppose them and enact other measures to insure one-party rule.

Read if you want the Truth

If you're conservative in your politics you will see so much truth in this book, enough to truly scare you: Democracy as described by numerous generations before us, may soon become a page in history. If you are liberal leaning this may anger you, or you will say Mr Horowitz doesn't know what he's talking about or is making it up. But...if all the information he has is correct (and he gives justification to the truth of his claims), this country will be following Cuba, Venezuela, and many other countries into a dictatorship of the worst kind: communism, Marxism, Nazism, whatever you choose to call it, but it will no longer be a country where its populace has any say so in anything, every aspect of your life will be controlled by the dictator at the top! I love my country, my freedoms but this book will shake you to your foundation because the truth is there!

There was so much written in this book that I was not aware of and caused me to be in shock about where we are today. I just shook my head in disbelief that so much deception from the Democrats.
And here we are just 3 months from another election. How will it turn out? I pray each day "Father God, we praise You today with our whole heart, and we come before You on behalf of this country and our leaders. This is so much division and hatred, disrespect and dishonor. Please draw all hearts toward You Lord. We ask for Your wisdom, righteousness and justice, to be evident in our nation's policies and leaders and attitudes. May they think of others more than themselves. And may they seek to do all things for Your honor and glory and not for their own. May we all humble ourselves and pray and see Your face, O' God. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen and Amen."

This book is upsetting, depressing, frustrating, and sad....not because it was poorly written but because of all the facts that are clearly spelled out for those who really didn't want to hear the truth. Of course, those that don't want to hear it will call it 'disinformation' and I am sure this book will be banned just like how social media bans other opinions but the opinion of the day. (this happens on both sides but right now it is a little out of control).

I am waiting for this post to be banned because God forbid we all have the freedom of speech (oh no, I said God.. .that is definitely going to get me canned!!! ).

I think this is the wrong version of the book as it says it has 0 pages. Possibly due to being on a phone but will try to find new edition.

Anyways...the first 2 chapters are nothing but a biased, political diatribe, almost completely devoid of facts. I would recommend reading the Carter Baker Commission before reading this book as well as stories that debunk the idea that the 2020 election was stolen.
In that sense, if you believe that the 2020 election was stolen, you will like and agree with the content of those first 2 chapters. If you don't, then those first 2 chapters can be quite the exercise for the rolling of your eyes.

It's a quick read. The rest of the book is better.

The book is excellent, but I found the truth extremely aggravating, and consequently found the need to stop and start every few pages. Fortunately, the book is well researched and resources are noted. It exposes democrat's systematic actions and plans, and the enormity of our God needed, bold and freedom loving, intelligent people to stop this mess. The mess is pretty big and deep, but God is bigger.

I found the book an extremely well documented and sourced accounting of the outrageous, destructive, and often criminal conduct and subversion of the Progressive Left and their pursuit for nothing less that a totalatarian state brooking no dessent and leading total nullification of the founding fathers legacy of individual freedom.

I chose this rating because I feel that all Americans need to consider the points put forward by Mr. Horowitz in his thorough and well documented style. He has presented both sides of the current dilemma in a comfortable manner that I've never seen in any face-to-face discussions.
