Daniel was in it for the money. Grace was in it to make good on a fresh start. Both had secrets to keep and neither wanted anything more. But love has a funny way of creeping in, and in their case, it all started with a little white lie ...
This is a seriously well-written and well-edited series. While ostensibly about the ol bow-chikka (I mean, it’s kinda in the title…) and while Yes, there are some well-done fruity scenes in each book, these books aren’t all about that. At their core, they’re about *relationships* (about which sex is frequently a part) but these relationship stories stand on their own - sex really is just a part. On top of which you have incredible unique characters. Amazing, rich, fun characters. Then you put them in an awesome deep world (and world history). Excellent world-building. Really. Finally, you tie it all up in a purty ribbon of a plot, where above and beyond the machinations of the characters in the current book, you have something truly world-shaking skulking in the wings getting revealed in tantalizing slow-motion. Wow. You should read them all and come up with superlatives of your own. Really. Definitely recommended (18+)
What can i say? i have come to the decision that Cebelius is a bastard! (jokeing) only giveing us 10 hour long audiobooks in the to love a monster girl series! when its so good. WE WANT MORE . All is forgiven if you give us a dragon girl romance in future installations though. Especially if you give us synthia as you have hinted you will.
I have to say that the Could you love a monster girl series, is by far my favourite series by cebelius. I really hope he continues with it, as i much prefer this style to harems. Additionally i really like the world that is being built here, and how its interconnected. I also like the new slice of life-ish feel the books look to be going down. I did not miss all the action of the previouse books at all! Dont get me wrong i love the mask of the template series! but i really feel this series is where ceblius has found his stride. I fervently hope this series does really well for him, as im seriously depressed iv finished all the books in this series now. If i had to rank the books in the series so far, i would probbibly go with: 1. velaise, 2. grace and then 3. tayra. Velaise was my favourite, as i just loved that arachnid! but i now want a gargoyle too....
The audiobook presentation was as allways with these books by cebelius, fantastic. I love it when theirs a female and a male reader. Helps with the immersion and i bet they had fun reading this stuff, you can tell they were super into it.
More interesting than hot I like this series. This one is a bit slow, but nothing about it pissed me off. Once again it's sex free for the first 3/4th and there is more romance than smut. This book has a bit more world building, world history, and advances the story of previous characters. I also liked that the MC is not a two fisted tough guy for once, and neurodivergent as well.
Nothing much to say that the story continues, new mysterys come to ligth and more is unvailed around this world. Hope we get to see somethign fo the other citys's states or the monsters communitys.
Considering the 2 previous male MC’s had been tough cops it was a welcome change of pace to see a more intellectual and nervous guy to pair with the attractive confident monster girl. If you enjoyed the previous 2 volumes, can’t imagine why you wouldn’t like this one.
Fantasy alternative world monster girl adult situations Book 3 in this new series, it builds on the previous books without requiring that you have read them in advance. It is a stand alone monster girl-human romance. It's also extremely well edited; while I thought there were a few dependent clauses that could stand a comma, there was only one error. For a book of 350 pages, there are some mainstream print-house books that aren't as well curated before release. Kudos all around for this edition.
However, if you read the other two books as I have (1 - Velise, 2 - Tayra), you will see characters reappear here in supporting roles. I remain happy that this series has been so successful for this author, and he will divert time here and there to crank out another superhero TAP book once in awhile because I love that series, too. Recommended.
So, after I wrote a whole review explaining why I didn't know why this was my least favorite entry thus far in this series, and just know that it was. Then I realized that I just don't like Daniel or Grace. Even though there's nothing WRONG with them, I really just don't enjoy them as characters. The world is great, and the epilogue once more leaves me incredibly intrigued. Cynthia is incredibly intriguing and I REALLY hope we get an installation with her as the love interest. But I just didn't like Daniel or Grace, and I don't know what makes me feel that way. Don't let that take away from the fact that you may love them, and you may very well love this book. The side characters and continued adventure in this world alone make this book worth reading.
Like Cebelius said in their afterword, this is a bit of a change in the manner of story, not even just this series I feel, but from their usual style across the board (though I still have one more series to try whose title escapes me at the moment, angel one I think?) but I really enjoyed the feel and pacing to it, and the character building and interactions more so! I feel the very last chapter and the ending felt a bit rushed, but does a good job of setting the stage for more to come, and it doesn't take away from the story..Hell it might be that I just wanted more come to think of it. All in all an excellent read, and I would like to see Cebelius write some more slice of life types one day if they ever feel inspired to do so.
While it's an unpopular opinion and fully up to taste, I think this book might be my favorite. While I didn't like Grace in the previous book, I think her and Daniel's romance is wholesome and adorable. Valise is my favorite girl, thus far introduced, but her dynamic her man was more a (just do it already) vibe to it, while this book's couple being younger gave it more natural slow pace.
My bias in favor of slow burn is likely clouding my judgment, plus I'm a slice of life fan, so I totally get the more action drawn reader being less interested. But those among you who've yet to give slice of life a chance, I'd implore you to give this one a go. Sometimes, it's just nice to read something sweet, ya'know?.
Different than the other two but still fun and adds important information to the overall world building
Cebelius knows how to write a monster girl romance book. Different than the last two but more normal and feels like I’m reading a slice of life romance manga in the best way. This world he is building is different than any book or anime I have been apart of and I would love to see this animated. I have no complaints and am throughly invested in what the hell is going on with the non human plot, not to mention from the last book what the bad human are going to do in the future. Keep the books coming!
Man coming from Tayras book I have to say the hype was definitely worth it, I have to say it's less action than Tayra and less scheming than Valice but I have to Give it up to my man Cebelius for making this slice of live an amazing read with AMAZING CHARACTERS, and amazing story to boot, as in previous books in the series the switching of viewpoint form different characters really helps the overall story move forward and we get great scenes from a bunch of different characters. it's a tough call and say which of the 3 book in the series is my favorite but the end of Grace I think I found my self a Winner. Easy 5/5 and cant wait for more.
As the third installment in this series, Ceb continues to prove that yes, I would love a monster girl. While a bit of a departure from the other books in the series, with less of a focus on adventure and mystery, the slice of life elements just fit. Not everyone is an action hero, but they don't need to be. As always, the world building is top notch. Learning of this post Cataclysm world is almost as entertaining as following the character's story.
Highly recommended, and be on the lookout for more from Cebelius.
This is the third in Cebelius's monster romance series, this time between a female gargoyle and a schizoid human. The character's were interesting, intelligent, and witty, but the plot lost steam about two-thirds the way through. Still, it is noteworthy that this wins the award for the ugliest cover of any book I have actually read. The earlier two volumes were very good and this one is not bad, and all of them were enjoyable, but someone needs to invest in a better cover artist, since the covers are declining rapidly in quality.
Series is interesting in being so unusual (in a good way)
The world building reveals that after a war between human and fantasy races through interplanetary or interdimensional rifts, human mages won the day. But at a great cost to all species. Part of the aftermath is that gene splicing is necessary for interspecies relationships and these relationships are necessary for survival, but for reasons that aren't clear to me. The series is interestingly about the development of interspecies relationships in the backdrop of a post cataclysmic war.
This author is worth you're time. I've read some of his harem style books, a genre im not very fond of due to the lack of depth in characters, but cebelius was the exception. When i found out he was writing monogamous style paranormal romance, my expectations were high. I was not disappointed. If you're reading this review, please give this series a try. It may sound like a fluff piece, but you couldn't be more wrong.
I love Cebelius and his work. I will be purchasing this series and have already re-read it twice… it’s that good. I love that each of these series provide a different view of the world and only interact with the other book’s characters at the key seams. This series is so promising and has twists and turns and larger arcs bringing together the whole. Love it!
The characters are…not pleasant. And I mean that in the sense that they made me uncomfortable. The male lead is so close to being an insel that it was difficult to finish the book.
I get that the author was going for a nigh-autistic character who was struggling to deal with a woman who was attracted to him and all, but it just felt…off.
The author is solid, but this book is not his best.
I don't have a reference to verify the accuracy of the depiction, but making the mc have a personality disorder added clinical interest where otherwise there might not have been any. Outside of the central couple's relationship dynamics there really isn’t much additional excitement to the plot this time; we do get to explore a little more world-building, which I assume will play into future volumes. I thought it was entertaining at least.
The relationship story is clear and well written, however the true storyline is starting to emerge. Suffice it to say there's a conspiracy afoot, and it's a doozy. The author is doing a bang-up job entertaining us AND giving his readers some great sub-plots to decipher and sort out. Can't wait for the next installment!
As much as I like cebelius’ other work, these mini romance style books are written so well I don’t know if he should go back. This is also a well written slice of life, quite the departure from the last books in the series, but no less engaging. Eagerly looking forward to the next book.
I was excited with the twists and turns cebelius normally produces and was expecting a Dexter Morgan, I look forward to seeing the developing futures of and introductions of broadening routes.
I hope this review makes it, I look forward to reading more of your work.
Like others in this series, the romance is well paced, if slow. The setup is leftover action from a previous book, but this book is about two college students that fall in love. Well written, with a relaxed pace, it blends an awful world with personal grace and hints of larger mysteries. Strongly recommended.
This series has some serious twists and turns. There are wheels within wheels. Daniel and Grace are a wonderful love story but Daniel is unwhitingly considering a move into dangerous territory! The Splicers want to preserve the peace, at all costs. Will that affect Tony? This is a potentially scary development. Bring on the next book!
I really enjoyed reading a romance where it wasn't a harem and the protagonist wasn't someone who made models jealous and doesn't become an unstoppable beast. It gets old and this series just hit all the right buttons. I don't know if the series will continue but I am hopeful!
I loved this addition to the series because it really expanded the world building. This is more than a fantasy romance series, it's an extensive world. The characters have real motivations and backstory. The romance is sweet and a lil spicy and the world is really amazingly well thought out. I hope this series doesn't end.
Cebelius tells the story of a gargoyle that wants to find love. Is adorkable a word, if not, it should be. Grace is being hidden at college and when she's forced to study and pass, or be thrown out, her patron hires Daniel (A pre med student and part time morgue assistant) to be her tutor. If you want to know what happens, you gotta read the book.
While I prefer the author's Celestine books for the adventure aspect, these are very well done. There is potential in this world for things to get more "interesting" and less slice-of-life, but evidently the author has found a niche here and is exploring it. We'll see what the future holds.
Book 3, and no signs of slowing down. Characterizations are well thought out and engaging, the world building is superb and the torches in this novel, lend themselves to many threads.
This was a good edition; good lore, slice of life style, the play on the concept made of stone. If Demona was your intro to non-human attraction, it'll be easy to enjoy this book.
