My boss hired me to care for his daughters. Instead, he ended up babysitting me. Well, not exactly but it’s as complicated.
Henry Fairfield makes me want to break all the rules. First, I slept with him. Then I fell in love with him. And now… I’m in trouble.
He’s older than me, oh-so-wrong and completely forbidden. And he’s my boss, which means that I could lose my job. Along with my sanity if he breaks my heart.
But the one thing he wouldn’t do is let me get into trouble. My toxic ex will stop at nothing until he destroys me. Unless… Someone stopped him. And I have a feeling that Henry will fight for my safety. But will he also fight for my heart?
Fall in love with this deliciously sinful, kindle melting hot, and forbidden temptation from Sofia T Summers. No cheating or cliffhanger – EVER. All books in this series stand alone and do not have to be read in order.
A novel about an older widower with two kids and the nanny he hires to look after them while he writes his novel during the kids’ summer vacation. This could've been shorter but I enjoyed the ride. Maybe a bit melodramatic but I ate it up.
The Summer Getaway became my imaginary summer getaway too. The author did a great job setting the scene and I was transported to this vacation along with the main characters. The characters were very likable and very mature which made the reading experience that much better. Plotwise, it’s a little slower than what I’m used to but it kept my interest and I loved the wholesome parts. Like when the fmc and the twins bonded over shopping and Avril Lavigne songs.
The only thing I didn’t like was –and I can’t believe I’m saying this– that there were just too many sex scenes. Normally I’d say the more the better but aside from that one 69, there wasn’t much variety.

Many thanks to Booksprout and the author for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
If you like age gap romances you'll enjoy this book. This is part of the Forbidden Temptations Series but is read as a stand alone. This was a well written book with it's share of drama and angst. A nanny who becomes so much more to the single dad. And an ex from hell who's out to get her. Her boss Henry comes to her rescue. No shortage of steam in this emotional book. No cliffhanger and no cheating. I read a free advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Henry Fairfield was writing a book over the summer. He needed a nanny to care for his twin daughters while he worked so he hired Caroline. Their initial friendship began to turn into more serious feelings. But when her abusive ex starts threatening her, will Henry step up to protect her? Will Henry and Caroline just have a secret summer fling? Or is this something they want to make more permanent?
Henry Fairfield, a published author and professor of writing at the University of North Carolina at Boone, understands that fiction and fact, while connected, are not the same. So, while he might craft a novel with a “happily-ever-after” ending, life doesn’t always follow the pathway of fiction for a life filled with happiness, sunny days and no sadness or pain.
His own adult years are proof that life is a co-mingling of joy and sadness, sunny days and shadows. He could put checks beside the moments of happiness or goals achieved—he had the pleasure of following his life’s passion of writing, publishing and teaching writing. He had a great friend and supportive co-worker, Silas Burke. He was the father of twins—two delightful daughters, almost 10-years-old, Heather and Bryony. And, he had married the love of his life, beautiful sweet wife, Julia—Jules.
But that was where his life went off the plot line of “happily ever after”. Five years earlier, his sweet Julia had died of cancer leaving her husband with 5-year-old girls, with a heart full of joyful memories, but unfulfilled dreams. But Henry honored his commitment to fulfill his promise to Julia to love and care for their daughters and to continue his passion for writing.
So, this summer he and the girls are headed to the North Carolina coast to the Bald Head Island to spend time with his girls at Julia’s parents’ cottage to enjoy the beach setting and to write. But, to juggle the girls and his writing, he has hired an elementary school teacher to serve as nanny—preparing meals, transporting the girls to the camp offered on the island and providing a female influence for the girls while Henry writes.
Teacher Caroline Gray is excited for the opportunity to nanny for Heather and Bryony Fairfield for the summer while their dad works to finish his next novel to meet his deadline. The 26-year-old with butterscotch-blonde-hair and almond shaped brown eyes, teaches at Beech Charter School. As elementary teacher, she knows first-hand—both her parents were physicians—and from the experiences of her students and parents, that the demands on parents who juggle professional demands as well as the needs of children.
And, as a teacher who is only paid for 10 months of employment, the added income is a boon. And since she and her friend and apartment mate, Maeve, have chosen to seek other living arrangements in the fall, being clear of rent responsibilities for the summer break will be beneficial. Caroline is especially happy to leave Boone for a few months, leaving the mountains of North Carolina for its coast.
But most of all, Caroline wants to get out of Boone—not forever—but for a few months. She has just gone through a personally threatening and potentially dangerous break up with a deceptive man who has tried to control Caroline by most unethical and unloving techniques—to impregnate her against her knowledge or will. And while she turned to the police and the legal system, her tormentor has been cleared of legal restraints, so leaving town for the summer to spend time at the beach with a delightful family is the healing time that she needs.
Sofia T. Summers tells a delightful tale of summer, of family and of growing love and respect. Woven with the threatening power of twisted love and hurts of the past, Summers has crafted a tale that leaves the reader looking for another romance by the author. I received a Booksprout ARC, but bought a copy for my “read again” collection.
The Summer Getaway was a fun and quick read taking place at a beach cottage on an island off North Carolina. This is Henry and Caroline's story and it is told by them in alternating chapters. His twin daughters and woven throughout since Caroline was hired to be their nanny for the summer so Henry could work on the book he's writing.
This is a wonderful beach read with so many vivid descriptions that I felt I was there. There are the warm ocean breezes, the sun, the sand and the sound of the waves along with lots of tourist locations, restaurants, picnics and food. The twins are at summer camp four days a week until noon which gives Caroline free time for other things. It was interesting to see how she spent her time.
Henry is a great single dad to his girls and Caroline fits right in as part of their family unit. Both both of them have secrets and Caroline's could get somebody hurt. There are twists and turns to the story along with steamy, hot between the sheets and other places moments. There's wonderful closure with the epilogue and the second epilogue leads into the next story which I've previously read. The happily ever after is nicely portrayed and ties up loose ends.
Ms. Summers often takes me out of my comfort zone with her sexy, steamy stories but I love when there is a depth to the stories and this one didn't disappoint!.

Steamy age gap single dad and nanny summer romance.
The Summer Getaway is part of the Temptation Series but can be read as a standalone. It is an age gap single dad and nanny romance.
Caroline is an elementary school teacher but during her summer break she works odd jobs. This year she agrees to be a nanny for Henry Fairfield's nine year old twin girls named Heather and Bryony. He is a professor but taking a summer vacation to the beach with his daughters to finish up his novel. Henry has been widowed for 5 years but his heart is still guarded and Caroline is trying to emotionally and mentally heal from an abusive/toxic ex-boyfriend. She is looking forward to getting away and caring for the twins while at the beach so Henry can work on his writing. What neither one counted on was the growing attraction and passionate summer affair that turned into so much more. Yet not everything was going so smoothly as they hoped with her ex-boyfriend stocking and causing problems and his dead wife's parents disapproval and passive aggressive behavior. Can they survive the drama and danger that's trying to come between them to have their happily ever after?

This is another wonderful, heart-warming love story from Sofia Summers. Caroline is a teacher who is hired by a professor, Henry, who is a widower with twin girls, 9 years old, to be their nanny during a summer vacation in a family cottage near the beach. Caroline had recently ended a toxic affair and was looking forward to caring for the two girls at the beach while Henry had the time to work on a novel he was writing. In the course of the summer, a passionate affair develops between the two of them – at first they intend it as a summer “fling” but they are so good for each other, and she is so good with his daughters, that it gradually turns into a love affair. There are problems with her ex-boyfriend and the parents of Henry’s deceased wife – but the problems are resolved by the end. Both Henry and Caroline are well drawn, likable characters, and I enjoyed the way their relationship developed, and the dialog between them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A Fated Second Chance - When Caroline accepted the job as a nanny for the summer, the last thing on her mind was finding love, after the hell she went through in her last relationship. Henry had no thoughts of relationships when he planned the summer getaway, as he was still grieving the loss of his wife, fate had other ideas for his life. The sparks between them was so hot that their vows to remain professional went out the window as they spent more time together.
Henry was truly touched to witness the natural and effortless relationship Caroline had with his twin daughters, Bryony and Heather, which made him fall harder for Caroline each day. I was hooked on the story from the first page and I found it difficult to stop reading once I started. It was a really amazing read, that had me eager to turn the pages, so I can find out if they become a family. This is another five star book from a talented author, that everyone needs to read.

I bought this book as a pre-release and had no readers reviews to go on…unfortunately. I really wanted to love this book, but it just never happened. The idea behind the story was very cute, but the dialogue at times was so bad and unrealistic. The term, “sweetheart” was overused and awkward. At one point in the story there is a consequence for a crime and the “plea agreement” is handled the next day- so very unrealistic. At one point a nine year old is quoted to say, “Go forth in peace to date whomever you want.” Even sarcastically, no nine year old is talking like that. The build up of the relationship between Henry and Caroline is just lacking. There are some steamy scenes throughout the book, but I was bored in between those scenes. The book could have used another round or two of editing. The book just wasn’t what it could have been. It kills me to leave a bad review, but I so badly just didn’t want to finish it.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a emotional sweet read that I enjoyed alot, Henry who's a writer and widow and father to two daughters decides to take them away on a summer holiday but needed help looking his kids while he works on his books Caroline who nanny's on school break takes the job and bonds very well with the girls but also starts bonding with Henry who's off limits due to being her boss, Henry see the closeness his girls her getting to Caroline and makes him miss his wife more but start to latch on to Caroline, this gets you feeling will they won't they vibe so you keep flickering the pages to get to the end to find how it all ends for them all, this is definitely a page turner book that will get you from the beginning a recommended read.

The Hot Grumpy Professor & His Nanny - How Long Can They Resist?
I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend "The Summer Getaway to anyone who loves a great age gap romance. The story is about a teacher Caroline who takes a summer job as a nanny for Henry. Sofia T Summers does a great job of weaving the many elements that make up Caroline & Henry's story. Caroline has trust issues stemming from a previous ex & Henry is worried that he is too old. How long can they resist temptation before the heated chemistry is too much & it boils over. Will outside influences destroy Henry & Caroline's chance at a HEA? I can't wait to read the next book the author has.

When Caroline got a job working for Henry, an author with a deadline to meet, looking after his twin daughters during the summer break, she never expected to fall in love. She's not been that lucky in the romance department, her ex is a real piece of work, but she's trying to move on with her life.
Neither expected the attraction they feel for each other to come to anything but soon it can't be denied, would a summer fling be that wrong? Both have baggage, she in the form of her ex-boyfriend and Henry has difficulties with his deceased wife's parents.
Henry and Caroline were likeable characters whom you want to find happiness, I enjoyed following their journey and seeing how their relationship developed.
I love Sofia’s books and read every single one in this series so I kind of knew that I would like this book before reading it. I loved Caroline and Henry and thought their love story were cute. The nanny and her hunky boss – what could go wrong? There are only one thing that felt wrong is calling it forbidden. The ones that they were hiding their love from were the same persons that tried to set them up and even if the age gap might be a bit taboo, but Caroline isn’t a naïve 18 year old and never felt the age gap while reading, they seamed very much like equals.
Thanks to Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC, I always look forward to a new forbidden temptation book and can’t wait for the next.
The teacher & the widowed professor... The story itself has been outlined in the blurb & by prior reviewers so I won't go into detail. What I must relate though is that this prolific author is rocking these age gap romances & this second chance for love story didn't disappoint. Add some drama from the heroine's ex, adorable 9 year old twin daughters she agreed to nanny for during their summer holiday so their dad could finish writing a book. Their undeniable attraction ramps up but will they take this as a holiday fling or can they strive for more? I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Lovely story. After Maeve's story I was looking forward to reading Caroline & Henry's & I wasn't disappointed. It was sweet, caring, emotional at times, they had an instant attraction but tried hard not to act on it since she was nanny to his children but also because of their past relationships. It wasn't too long before they both couldn't deny the feelings they had for each other & she had also fallen in love with his girls. Although it was supposed to have been a summer fling I was desperate for them to become a family before they parted ways.

Caroline is just out of a bad relationship when she accepts the position to work for Henry. Its not long before this heat up between them. Will something more grow between them? I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Caroline Gray & Henry Fairfield. Caroline is just looking to make some extra money to buy a house. The thing is when she took the nanny position for the summer she had no idea what she was in for. Henry has been alone for years and now. He wants to be out there but at the same time every time he thinks about it he feels guilty. When he sees Caroline he knows things are different. Can these two find a HEA or is someone out there determined to make sure that never happens?
Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone

Caroline is a school teacher but works as a nanny during the school break. She ends up falling for Henry, even though he is her boss. They agree to a relationship while she is working for him but what happens when outside forces intervene and cause problems.

This is a great read. All the characters grow and learn to embrace new love. Caroline and Henry have an immediate attraction. For the sake of summer and the twins they try to ignore it. Caroline grows to love the twins as she is taking care of these blossoming young women. Henry is struggling with letting go of his ex-wife. He knows it is okay to move on but it is hard. Caroline grows to trust Henry and feel safe. This was definitely a slow burn true love story.

Henry Fairchild, professor, writer and father of twin girls. Caroline Gray, teacher, sweet and sunny, and loves children. This is a well written story that leads through the adult world of finding love again despite their past with two nine year old looking on. It's witty, emotional, action packed in a subtle way, and I couldn't put it down. This is Henry and Caroline's story.

Caroline just got a job working for Henry, caring for his twin daughters during summer break while he tries to finish his book. She has a past she wants to forget and move on from, but circumstances are making it difficult. Soon the attraction she feels for Henry can't be denied but someone from her past shows up threatening to ruin it all.... Entertaining read, well written with great characters.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A summer job leads to love and family for Caroline and Henry. It was sweet how they came together and it certainly didn't escape the twins' notice that their father was falling in love. The only fly in the ointment was Caroline's ex who was stalking her. I found it satisfying how that was resolved. I found how Caroline and Henry kept anticipating each other actions at the same time comical and romantic.
He is a college professor and Caroline is an elementary school teacher. She and Henry meet when she accepts a job to look after his twins for the summer while he works on his book. Their relationship takes off, but Caroline's past gives her pause about being with Henry and when someone from her past makes an entry will she give up on what could possibly be the love of her life?

Loving and hopeful, this deeply heartfelt romance is both sexy and sweet. When Henry needs a nanny for the summer, Caroline comes highly recommended. Each with their own heart scars, they take a chance on a summer romance that becomes so much more while navigating kid drama, guilty, and other life issues that could threaten a happily ever after.
