The manga series, Delicious in Dungeon (also known as Dungeon Meshi), is an adventurous tale that follows a group of explorers as they venture into a dungeon. Along the way, they encounter various monsters, which they cook and consume. The series is a unique blend of fantasy, comedy, and cooking genres, making it an entertaining read for fans of all ages and interests.

The story takes a dark turn as the adventurers are led to Sissel’s threshold by the winged lion imprisoned within it. The group is faced with heavy-duty cleaning as Sissel’s cottage is piled with clutter, hindering both their search for the lion and their meal prep.

Overall, Delicious in Dungeon is a unique and entertaining manga series that combines dungeon-crawling adventure with cooking. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is excellent. The art style is also fantastic, and the monsters look both terrifying and delicious. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, comedy, and cooking.

You know shit's getting serious when the character who has been the series main villain up until now is partially devoured by a different, worse villain. Exciting changes coming to this dungeon under it's new lord and master!

Laois out-autisming Sissel was so fucking cool! Get DUNKED you little twerp!!! Also him trusting Sissel and trying to get through to him…. He does care about people, just not in the ways society labels ;-;

The lion eating Sissel’s desires was fucking brutal. Creepy as hell.

Laois does remember Kabru’s name when he actually needs to… and Kabru fucking blinking at him in morse code that something’s wrong and Laois GETS THAT but assumes that it’s monsters…… alas. Chil and Laois panicking and trying to lie to the Canaries was camp.

Mithrun v Marcille was very fun… also camp that they realize she Might Be Someone Kinda Important. And the way that Mithrun looks at Marcille right before they throw down for real… he looks so earnest when he asks if she realizes how futile it all is. And it 100% could be a play, but I do think it’s genuine emotion.

The art of the lion getting unsealed was AMAZING!

And the reveal that Falin teleported everyone out the first time… we love to see it. She a little deranged (affectionate).


Kabru slamming Mithrun up against the wall and being like “if you can’t get out of this, you’re not up for demon hunting :/“ was GAY AS HELL and AWESOME


And speaking of gay as hell… the ending with Kabru’s dramatic confession and Laois promising that they’ll get real food one day… ugh. Wolf-person is there too! Insane.

Lots of action as one major storyline is wrapped up with an immediate pivot into a new challenge for our adventurers. With all the hullabaloo there was little time for humor or an interesting recipe, which is disappointing.

I mean... even if it meant being shot in the leg, breaking the law, being turned to stone, or having my life force sucked out... even if it meant I ended up killing and eating all sorts of monsters... I wanted us all to live!!"

It breaks my heart to see everything that's becoming of Sissel and the others. I really like the way that this series is dealing with the dark side of desire -- the simple act of desperately wanting something. As people, how far will we go to accomplish what we want? What would we exchange in order to have everything? These Monkey's Paw type of stories are so powerful and terrifying in the way that they treat desire as something to be feared, and to humble yourself in front of.

Our desires can be something so pure -- like Marcille's, a desire to equate the lifespan of her friends to her own, to not be alone anymore, to have the family that she deserves -- but what will that cost her, and all of them, in the end? Sissel started out hopeful with great intentions as well. I think that partially what this series is getting at is that we can't protect ourselves fully from the things that we fear, and we shouldn't try to. Tragedy must be faced. Tragedy, death, illness... these are all things that happen naturally, and to never face them means you're not really living. Sissel and those in the Golden Country may have lived for centuries, but they certainly couldn't call themselves alive, to never suffer, hunger, or want for anything... the dungeon therefore becomes an idyllic place and a prison all at once.

Such strong theming. My heart breaks for everyone. I'm really nervous about the next volume. I just want Marcille to be okay...!

The action scenes are loads of fun. We didn't really get to see what Mithrun is capable of until now. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually rooting for the elves? At this point, I just want them to stop the Winged Lion before things get any worse.

With all the carnage and chaos going on in this issue, I think the author got very little time to register the amount of humor this series is known for. Nonetheless, this volume is still very much "Dungeon Meshi" at its core.

This volume is bittersweet, the art and story are as good as ever but it’s the first volume that feels like we’re nearing the end. At 12 or 13 volumes, this series will have a great length for future rereads and rereads it’ll get, it’s been one of the best ongoings in recent years.

Dragons coming for dinner

When the Lunatic Magician unleashes their power by summoning dragons to handle our shrunk party (thankfully they are not full sized either) all hell breaks loose as only Laios finds himself standing alone against the master of the dungeon and her pets. Thankfully there is a still a trick up their sleeves though Laios might not realize it yet as the Canaries and Kabru catch up to the party at last who may be the saviors or new enemies of the party just s the Lunatic Magician may not be completely defeated either.

Not gonna lie, kinda forgot where we were in the plot at this point, but it was still delightful. The bits with Sissel, Laios, and the dragons especially made me cackle. Lots of competing interests in this volume. The dungeon investigators, our heroes, Kabru, the winged lion, sissel…all competing for the power of the dungeon either to use it or destroy it. I want to say we are in the end game, but with manga it can be hard to tell.

Entre que Laious está terminando de enfrentarse a Sisel (el mago "malo"), y que llegan los elfos canarias en mal momento pues esto termina en un desbarajuste.
Y todavía el chico moreno, tratando de "detener" a Laious con las razones más tontas cuando Laious está preocupado en ayudar a Marcille y ver qué pasa con su hermana.

Se ve que el caos se va a poner bueno al acercarse el final

This volume was absolutely full of drama, twists and unexpected subplots! I really think we are starting to see the full scope of the dungeon lord’s power, as well as the true nature of the winged dragon.
I got a tiny bit lost in a side plot about the Canaries and Kabru’s posse, but overall this was one of the most jam packed and tense volumes in this series yet!
