Part 1/3

3,5 😮💘👑⭐️s

A very well written royal forbidden romance read!!
Esme was a princess and Creed was her childhood friend and soon to become a royal guard. Moreover he was her brother’s best friend.

Their journey’s first part was very intriguing, intense, steamy and had plenty of twists and turns!!!!

It ended in a great cliffhanger, so onto the next part asap!!!!

Being the second in line to inherit the throne is a life filled with duty and expectations. Every aspect of Esme’s life has been dictated to her and that includes the man she finds herself engaged to. Her one act of independence was ensuring that her first time would be with someone she wanted but once may not be enough.

Creed has always known that he would follow his family’s tradition and be part of the Royal Guard. He fights his feelings for her as he knows that he and Esme aren’t destined to be together but how can something wrong feel so right?

The chemistry between Creed and Esme if off the charts and undeniable however in the background there is a lot unfolding with each surprise more enticing than the last that lead up to cliffhanger that leaves us needing to know what the future holds for this couple.

I was so ready for a new series from TK Leigh and she did not disappoint with Royal Creed, a beautiful love story between Esme a Princess trapped by her life in a gilded cage, and one of her guards Creed who is himself trapped by his family's history of serving the royal family.

In Royal Creed we learn that designer clothes, servants waiting to satisfy your every whim, and living in a sumptuous palace do not a happy life make especially when your "evil" grandmother has plans to marry you off against your will. Who could blame Esme for wanting to her first love to be Creed and even knowing the risks for both of them Creed could not turn her down. Their love story is hot, passionate and believable and the sneaking around they have to do to snatch stolen moments together kept me on the edge of my seat. It was obvious to me all the way through that there were forces working against both of them which made the story impossible to put down.

I cannot say more without giving too much away, but believe me not everyone is who they appear to be and the cliffhanger that Ms Leigh left us with was a doozy. l definitely had more questions than answers about the outcome of this story.

Do yourself a favour if you love hot and steamy love stories with a hint of mystery and more read Royal Creed.

Riveting from beginning to end, with plenty of steam, angst and mind f***ery along the way. The characters are developed with an intricate storyline and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I will be ready for more of Creed and Esme’s story.

What a great story that leads to a bizarre ending that holds great promise for the sequel!

A compelling story in which you sometimes think: Oh, poor rich girl (but in a sarcastic tone) and then: say it, say it! while you cheer that to her in your mind.

Because being born as a princess and therefore 2nd in the line of succession is no fun at all. Everything, everything is decided for you before you can even think of anything. From what you eat, who you meet, what you do, and even how your whirlwind romance unfolds with the man you're about to marry... only she doesn't know him yet.
Jameson Gates.
And even though he looks good, gives his money (he has in abundance) to the charities, he is not the one she would have chosen to give her virginity. That would be Creed Lawson. Her brother's best friend, but also a man being prepared for the Royal Guard.

Life is not easy for Esme, but this choice is for her to choose. Creed will be her first love.
But leaving is not easy! Certainly not when others still think for you and you are almost forced to walk that path.

Oh, so much is happening. Too much to describe without revealing more. But what a cliffhanger!!
Waiting for the sequel.....

I've been a big fan of TK's work for a long time, and even though I don't typically love royal romances, i knew I would love this one, and I wasn't wrong! It's sexy, angsty, very forbidden, and honestly just everything you want in a romance. Esme and Creed were absolutely wonderful, to the point where you could feel their connection just fly off the page, as well as the anguish and desperation to make their time with each other count before they could no longer be.

Esme is a princess, and is about to be married off to a man she doesn't love, but one that will look good by her side -- especially since appearances matter above all else in the monarchy. Creed is about to become a Royal Guard, which means he's strictly forbidden from Esme, but she comes up with a plan so that she has one choice in the matter: she will give all of herself to Creed (who happens to be her brothers best friend) who she trusts explicitly, and since he's always been in love with her and knows that this is his only shot with her, why not? It's not like they'll fall in love, right? *winks*

I LOVED these two!! Omg, every emotion was just top notch, but that cliffy?! Oh man TK, who hurt you?! I definitely need part two asap!!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions**

Royal Creed, the first book in the Broken Crown Trilogy by TK Leigh, tells the story of Esme, a modern-day princess who yearns for freedom from her royal family duties. Despite the obstacles the royal family presents, Esme pursues a forbidden romance with Creed, her brother's best friend and the love of her life. As they navigate their clandestine relationship, they face the risk of being exposed and the potential consequences that come with it. This book is a page-turner with the perfect blend of romance and drama. I can't wait to see what happens with Esme and Creed after that cliffhanger ending!

Completely spicy! It totally gave vibes that were close to the Royals TV show, which I loved, so it was a fun take on something similar. Be warned there’s more to this story-so if you’re looking for a stand-alone this isn’t it. This author tends to release these duets and trilogies that really have us on the edge of our seat and really foaming at the mouth for more.
It was definitely a memorable forbidden romance, and I think there’s so much that can happen in these next two books that will really tip the rating charts to five stars and over.

as all royal romances go where the princess falls in love with her bodyguard and rants like a hormonal teenager the whole time.. this was no different.

i don't know why i expected something different. T.K Leigh's Royal Games was good, enthralling even but this one..

Flop :(

Wow is all I can say and this is only the beginning. I cant wait for the rest of Esme's and Creed's story. In typical TK fashion she takes you on a journey that has you going through all of the emotions that the characters go through as if you are friends and going through it with them. Her twists and turns will have you thinking where did that come from. I couldn't put this book down once I started it I had to know what happened. Five stars isn't enough for this book and can't wait to see where they journey will take us next.

It ends with a cliffhanger. A freaking cliffhanger! How did I not know that this one was not a standalone? Grrrr. It's been A LONG time since I've allowed myself to be sucked into the trap of books with cliffhanger endings, but here I am. Geez. Well, I am sure that I grabbed this story because I am a bit of a sucker for the royal-commoner romance genre, and this seemed to promise a good story. Well ... I have to be honest, for about 90% of this story I was feeling pretty meh about this story. Supposedly Creed and Esme have been great friends for a long time, before Esme's family's life changes forever when her uncle and his entire family was killed in an accident, thrusting Esme's father into the role of king of their tiny made-up country and Esme's brother as next in line to the throne. Suddenly Esme cannot make decisions for herself. Every decision in her life is managed by the royals in a way to best benefit the royal family and future. When the story begins Esme learns that she is to marry a suitable man of the crown's choosing, whether she wants to or not. She goes along with the plan despite her hatred of the idea, but in order to maintain some degree of control in her life, she decides to begin a torrid affair with Creed, her brother's bff and lifelong friend who is destined to join the royal guard in a short period of time. They decide that it'll all work out as long as they promise not to fall in love. [insert eye roll]. Yeah, that's not going to work out at all.

Like I say, for the first 90% of this book I wasn't super into the story. Esme and Creed were nice enough characters, but I wasn't feeling all the feels about their feels for each other. I didn't feel the connection between them that I would have expected to feel from a couple who had been friends for a long time. I couldn't feel any growth of feelings between the two. I felt like the whole book was about them finding ways to sneak around so that they could be together in between paragraphs of 'we-shouldn't-be-doing-this' or 'we-can-never-be-together' angst. It wasn't working for me.

And then ....

Holy plot twist!!!! The entire tenor of this book COMPLETELY changed at the 90% mark. Completely. What was I reading? Tragedy I wasn't expecting. Intrigue and danger I wasn't expecting. Character revelations I wasn't expecting ... all leading to a freaking cliffhanger. I totally wasn't going to get book two in this series. I thought I didn't care about these characters. Maybe I still don't. I don't know. I just know that now I feel like I have to keep reading to see how this story is going to play out. So ... well played, T.K. Leigh and whatever publisher you are using. You sucked me in and earned yourself a few extra dollars. I'm praying it'll be worth it for me in the end. Three stars ... three weak stars. The book was okay, but I'm grabbing the next one, so I guess it wasn't awful.

ARC review

What did I just read!! This was phenomenal!!! I felt like I was watching an episode of the early season of “The Crown” at times.

Where to begin, all the characters had the perfect dynamic to the story and what a story!!

Esme , adult princess in-line for the thrown, must obey by the Royal rules, her brother Anderson knows all about the standards that have be followed however, he does his own thing. And with the help of his best mate Creed, and brother Adam, who grow up alongside the family also plays an important part to the storyline.

With a bossy and controlling matriarch grandmother and an absentee father, throw in a few more people to throw you off the scent that the story won’t take a nasty turn like sliding on black ice and BAM!!!

The story take you through drama, forbidden romance, suspense, scandal, despair and top it off with a banging CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!!

Can you love a book without any of the following themes, YES, but again, this is not your typical book and yet again, your put into a spiral longing to know when the next book comes out!!

Needless to say I freaking LOVED it

Rating: 💗💗💗.75
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
Tropes: royal romance / forbidden (he's her brother's best friend & she's the Princess Royal and her chief of protection is his older brother) / class differences / sneaking around / she's dating another (on paper) / bodyguard romance / virgin fmc

This is the first book in the Broken Crown trilogy, and as I'm not sure whether I'll continue the trilogy or not, I'm currently rating it solely based on the first book.

In short, it follows Esme. A royal princess who was recently informed she must marry another man to fulfil her royal duties. While she may not have a say in who she marries, she refuses for the palace to dictate who she gives her v-card to. Welcome, Creed. Her brother's best friend and soon to be a member of the royal guard. For them, it was only supposed to be one night, but when feelings get in the way - it's hard to play by the palace's rules.

Objectively, I think it's a good story! It has really good bones, was well-written and the way in which book 1 concluded left you wanting to see what happens. It was also promising in terms of future character development and angst!

Unfortunately, I don't believe I'll continue the trilogy at this time. Maybe later.

Firstly, I'm not sure that I vibe with the writing style. As noted, it's very well-written, but it didn't flow well for me. [I attribute this to her using dialogue which is very conversational, but drove me insane as it was overused. For example: instead of saying: "It's not the fact she wants me.." writing "Not the fact she wants me", and "Esme was extremely level-headed. Understood that.." instead of "Esme was extremely level-headed. She understood that...". This was done constantly throughout all 400 pages].

Secondly, the pacing was off for me. Little of substance actually happens in the first 90% and then too much in the last 10%. I understand that it's the first book in a trilogy, so the author takes her time to set the scene, however, it felt a little overkill.

Primarily, my issue rests with the fact I didn't care about Esme and Creed together. When the story first starts, we learn that Esme and Creed are really into each other and have apparently been crushing on each other for years. HOWEVER, we don't get to see this actually happen, because the book starts after they'd already developed strong feelings for each other and are now seemingly obsessed. Because we don't get to see the budding tension and them falling in love (which is the typically the best part of reading a romance), I didn't buy their chemistry. To me, their attraction felt very surface level. As did they as characters. They were lovely, but very surface level at this stage.

While there's every chance the author builds on this connection later on (and their general character), I wasn't, at all, invested in this couple (or in them as individuals). Therefore, the first 80% felt very slow, and due to what I felt was a lack of chemistry (because of how she built the story) in combination with the writing style, when it finally ramped up in the last 100 pages and became extremely interesting, I wasn't too keen to continue.

Overall, I enjoyed it. As noted, it's a good story! It really is. It has promise to become even better with how she ended book 1. However, my lack of interest in these two prevents me from continuing their saga at this present time. While I'm curious about that cliffy and how their story ends, I'm not curious enough to read another 800 pages about them across 2 books, especially as this one isn't on KU. Maybe at a later stage.

Esme Wellingston is a Princess of Belmont and is the second in line to the throne after her brother, Anderson. She was never supposed to be in line but with the death of her uncle and his family, she and her brother are now being prepped to take over the throne. Her grandmother believes that she needs to be married and has set her up to marry Jameson Gates

Creed Lawson has been away completing his military duty and now is home and will be sworn in shortly to become a Royal Guard. He is best friends with Anderson and is following the family tradition of being Royal Guards, like his brother Alex currently is as was his father.

When Esme realizes she doesn’t want her first time to be with Jameson but someone she chooses, she asks Creed for one night only. Will Creed give in to Esme’s request?

When it’s clear there is more at stake than either realized, will Esme finally have the courage to stick up for herself?

This was such a great book but the ending left me with my jaw on the ground!

Esme was an awesome character who was clearly a pawn in something so much bigger than she could ever realize. Towards the end she began to put some of the pieces together but there is so much more going on than the reader even knows. I thought she was a great character and someone thrust into the spotlight when she wasn’t ready for it with the death of her Uncle and his family. I liked that she was independent enough to go to Creed with what she wanted even if she was too scared to tell her dad and grandma what she wanted in her own life.

Creed was another character that was struggling with what was expected of him and what he wanted for himself and not allowed, which was clearly Esme. He was best friends with Anderson and he felt a sense of loyalty to him with not sleeping with Esme but at the same time he had cared for her for so long that he didn’t want to miss his only chance with her.

There was so much chemistry between the two of them and as much as they wanted to keep their secret relationship between the two of them only it was apparent to many people around them what was going on. Esme knew she was expected to marry Jameson but she couldn’t stay away from Creed and she was worried that it would get out to the press.

Jameson seemed like a really good guy with the understanding that he himself was not marrying Esme for love as he had lost the love of his life and was still dealing with that. He was becoming a great friend to Esme and knew he also had no choice but to go along with the marriage.

The ending of this book was completely jaw dropping and just OMG! I was expecting something because of what Esme had noticed but nothing compared to what was actually revealed!

I can’t wait for the next book!- Rebecca

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the first book in a forbidden bodyguard trilogy. This is the story of Esme and Creed. She is a girl who has been told what to do her entire life. He is about to be sworn in to the Royal Guard. However when it comes time for her to marry she knows she won't get to pick the man and she is not about to give away something so precious to someone she doesn't even really know. Creek is her brother's best friend. These two have such a love for each other that it will suck you right into their story and have you rooting so hard for them through the twists and turns of this book. Things are not what they seem even if Emse has had her entire life planned out for her with no say so. I just loved her and really felt for her and couldn't even imagine your whole entire life being planned and laid out by someone else. Creed is amazing and I fell so in love with him. He is sweet and caring but he also had another side to him. You have to read to find out what that is. I loved this book and the ending took my breath away. I so can not wait to have the next book in my hands.

Esme and Creed’s story is one I have been dying to read ever since we first met them in the Royal Games and Tangled Games duet. The snippets we saw in thos books made it very evident that there was a deep history between Creed and Esme, the only question was, exactly what was it?

Even if you have not read those books yet, Royal Creed is a complete standalone and T.k. really gives readers an angst filled story of two people who even though they know by convention they can never be together, defy all wisdom and duty and give in to their passion and feelings.

T.k. really dives deep into the workings of a royal household, the deep rooted traditions and obligations the members of a royal family must adhere to in the name of the monarchy. To say I would never, ever want to be a member of any royal family is an understatement!

“There’s no place for love in a monarchy.” Is the running theme in the way Esme’s grandmother and team run roughshod over her in their quest to marry her off to a suitable man who will look good at her side and be a strong male figure in their marriage. As far as Creed is concerned, he’s just about to be commissioned into the Royal Guard, a tradition in his family. Once that happens there’s no way these two could ever be together. But until that happens, they concoct a plan to spend as much time together as possible, enjoying each other’s “company” if you know what I mean, and promising not to let feelings play any part in it. But everyone knows that never goes to plan.

I really enjoyed the underlying suspense element that was taking place in the story, T.k. a master at laying the groundwork for something to come. I had my suspicions about several people along the way, but was completely surprised at a big revelation that takes place during that jaw dropping ending. Now I can’t wait for the next book!

4.5 Royal stars

The first installment in this new trilogy is off to a great start. The monarchy not only rules the country but the lives of those in line to the throne.

Esme is not the next in line but with her brother set to deploy again the monarchy much make provisions. One of them being securing a suitable husband to rule by her side.

Trying to assert an act of defiance by choosing on her own who she will give herself to leaves Esme in a whirlwind of emotions. But there is no place in the monarchy for emotions…. or is there?

Enter Creed Lawson…. The best friend of Anderson, longtime friend of Esme and a future member of the royal guard. Creed rebuffs Esme’s invitation only to find himself drawn to her. With the prospect of her becoming betrothed to another Creed decides to take action and throw caution to the wind.

I absolutely adored these two but I will say at times they frustrated me. Esme seemed to teater between want and obligation. Resigning herself to quickly and taking the “monarchy” at theor word. Creed seemed move invested and willing to lose everything for the love of Esme.

I love how they teased one another and seemed to combust on contact. Stealing moments even under watchful eyes to fuel their relationship. But just how far will they go and how much are they willing to sacrifice to be together? Can their forbidden love affair become something permanent or will they be forced to adhere to the rules of the monarchy?

Being that this is book one of a trilogy from TK Leigh I took note of the seeds of doubt she planted, the sideways glances and strong opinions by those surrounding Esme and Creed. I can’t say I was surprised where she leaves us at the end of this book but I am intrigued to see where she takes us in book two.

Sometimes cute, sometimes angsty.....

Royal Creed is the first installment in a trilogy and ends in a cliffy. This is my first read from T.K. Leigh and really enjoyed it, feeling very excited for the rest of the story.

This is a forbidden royal romance, intwining social status, duty, image, some inicial imaturity and the power of love. Is it too late? We'll certainly find out.
I liked several aspects of the plot and others I think could be polished a bit.
Esme and Creed's feelings were pure, undiluted and genuine, even with some inicial resistance. I loved these two together, their exchanges and incandescent trysts and their group of friends that constituted a great slew of secondaries. But their life was nothing to envy: under the strict rules of a monarchy with ancient praxis and canons, Esme and Creed started by obliging and then, secretly rebeling in hidden places or not so much and as every opportunity showed itself.
With as many opponents as foes and a restricted number in the know, their predicament was unsteady and dangerous, even more, once we learn about the unexpected subplot and that degree of deceit, steath and suspicion.

I would have liked some more backbone from Esme, she was almost 25, and maybe their possibilities could have been solid. I loved that it happened and understand that we need some 'meat' for the next two books.
I also think that the narrative could have flowed a bit more steady and direct, if it weren't for the dialogue to be, at times, interrupted by a quite long inner thought.

Nevertheless, I liked this first touch and I'm waiting for great developments and a HEA!

This story about a forbidden love between a princess and a soon to be member of the Royal Guard is just full of all the emotions and feels that I love in a story. It just immerses you in the life of a princess who feels the walls of the palace as a prison and wishes she could escape to a simpler time when she was not second in line to the throne. Creed’s legacy has always been to be sworn in to the Royal Guard. It’s a family tradition and nothing will stop him from achieving it except maybe the one woman who is completely off-limits to him, the one he’s loved for years. When Esme is slated to marry someone of the Royal Household’s choosing, she decides to make at least one decision for herself and that’s to give her virginity to the one man she can trust, her brother’s best friend, Creed. They have known each other for years and she is definitely attracted to him. It’s only for one night, no falling in love and walk away afterwards. What could go wrong?

I am a T.K. Leigh fan and this book is yet another reason why I love her writing. It’s full of angst, tension a lot of intrigue and of course a sweet, passionate love story between the H/h that melted my heart. The “counting” game was especially lovely. Their chemistry poured out of every page. Scorching hot!

I’m not going to give anything away but I was bawling…..just bawling when tragedy strikes and everything drastically changes for this pair. It tore my heart into pieces. There are twisty turns that blew my mind and that cliffhanger, HOLY ROYALTY!! I didn’t see that coming. I’m dying to read the next book. Very well done.

She is known as Esme. She is a princess, and her grandmother just notified her that she needs to get married. Her grandmother also told her to whom. Grandmother picked out the heir apparent to the Gates fortune, Jameson. He is the son of the owner of the largest private security firm in Europe, if not the world. This made Esme angry, and she communicated this fact in no uncertain means to her grandmother before she walked out of her office. In this process, she was not paying attention to where she was going and ran into Creed. Creed was her childhood friend, her secret crush. Esme had given him a hug and a kiss when she said goodbye to him eight years ago when he went off to basic training, and oh my, how eight years of physical training had filled him out! Her friends would suggest that she should choose him to make the last decision she had about herself. She should choose him to cash in her V-card. But would once be enough for her, for him, for them both?

This story highlights the social problems we still have today, but I think you will like the outcome of this story. The physical world-building gives you enough information to imagine where the characters are. The ethereal world-building is of a personal nature. The character’s interaction is done well, and the character’s background is filled in as the story progresses.

This royal romance is a page-turner. I give it five stars out of five stars.

Esme and Creed and Jameson and Gianna…intrigue, forbidden passion, ruthless ambition, Royal protocol, and so much more.

As a Princess Royal, Esme has little say in her life’s choices, and after coming home from college she’s informed by her grandmother that she will enter into an arranged marriage. She “protests” in her own way but ultimately acquiesces. The one thing she won’t give into is who she cashes in her v-card with, and she decides that someone will be Creed.

After propositioning him, Esme and Creed’s story takes off, and many twists and turns ensue. Esme and Creed as more than friends is forbidden for many reasons, but essentially the caste system that’s still in place keeps Creed in his place. That doesn’t stop the couple from steaming up quite a few pages together, but protocol must be followed.

Anderson, Esme’s brother, Jameson, her fiancé, Gianna, palace fixer, and the other supporting characters are well-rounded and very interesting. They add to the intrigue of the story and keep pages turning.

This is not a standalone and does end in a cliffhanger. The ending really makes me wish book 2 was already here. This is a great read that’s abnormal in that it isn’t a stuffy palace romance. It’s just so much more!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

She’s Baccckkkkkk!!! Yes T.K. Leigh (my Queen of the Cliff-Hanger) is back with a new series. Royal Creed is Book1 in the Broken Crown Trilogy. When this author gives you this kind of start to a series, you know to be prepared for fire and energy at every turn of the page. T.K. does not disappoint here.

Forbidden love can sometimes be the juiciest and most powerful. Creed and Esme were doomed from the start…or were they? Their lives have been intertwined for so long that their social lines have just about disappeared. But reality has a harsh way of bringing people back to the real world. Looking at that world may not be conducive to their success, their passions, their dreams, or their plans.

Those that are supposed to love and support us, sometimes are the ones that stand in the way the most. And when they realize their mistakes, sometimes it is too late. Longing, passion, light-heartedness, surprises, deceit and yes tragedy are but a few of the paths you will explore in this tome.

Yes, the Queen (T.K. Leigh) brings us to the edge of our seats, only to leave us dangling in anticipation. Did I say she was good? Oh yes she is, and with Royal Creed, I cannot wait to find out how this saga continues. All the stars to you lady as I swing my legs over this cliff waiting on Book 2.

**Got it FREE on Kindle**

It was a good read but not something I'd be eager to read again in the future. Writing is okay, it's just that there wasn't really anything special to it. Nothing that stands out.

Esme is a princess of an obscure European country and she finds out an engagement was arranged for her when she comes home after her graduation (from university? but she's 25 years old?). She literally bumps into her childhood "friend" Creed, (quotation marks because they've always been something to each other, of course) and feels electricity from their touch.

She chooses/propositions him about taking her virginity because she feels like that's one way to rebel after the royal household already chose the man she's going to marry. He rejects. Then he changes his mind. They carry on an affair. Some people find out. They break up. But they're both miserable so someone tries to patch them up. Unfortunately, something happens to prevent that and now they're in a situation that makes it even more impossible for them to be together.

I admit, that's not the way I thought things would go. And I also did not think that this was not a standalone. Do I want to read the next books? Hmmmm... Mehhh. Probably not. Or maybe I will, but not right now.

Those scenes when Creed would get possessive and when he runs his dirty mouth were fire though.

Mind Blown the ending HOLY SHIT...

Esme and her bro Anderson whole world was turned upside down since there Uncle and his family all passed away . From a normal family to a Royal family. So now to fulfill royal her duties its been chosen for her to marry. They pick Jamerson Gates. He's from a wealthy family they think that is good enough for them to marry her. With this tossed upon her she wants to do something for her
and Creed is it who she picks and even though they only have a short time. Then when shes had enough and picks Creed over everything its too late

Ok first Creed hot damn his mouth and hes so sweet . The sex is off the charts Mmm I felt for him because how can they ever be when his bro Adam reminds him he is just hired help he is not friends with Esme and Anderson. Hes been in love with Esme for so long after everything fell apart he doing what he should of for his family for Adam

I was feeling so bad for Jameson Gates fuck fuck fuck stupid ahhhhhhhh

T.K. Leigh never fails to blow me away with her writing chops, and every last one of her books ends up being on my favorite of all time list as she never stays the same, nope, she just keeps rising higher & higher. Royal Creed is the first book of what is already an EPIC journey between Esme & Creed. Esme is the second in line to the throne, and as such, her whole life is already planned out without her input, and that goes for who she marries as well. However, she's going to make the choice who to give her v-card to, and that's her brother's best friend, Creed. They're straight fire together with a kicker of being perfect for each other, but she's already promised while he's about to be sworn in as a member of the Royal Guard so forbidden is putting it mildly. Of course with the fire they generate, once won't be enough, and the more they sneak around, well, the higher chance they'll get caught. Plus, there's that whole dangerous royal intrigue situation that tends to be ever present around royalty so the twists are coming in hot which leads to a brutal cliffhanger that has me all kinds of dying inside. You do NOT want to pass up Royal Creed so you know what to do as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

First my usual points:
- I do not do spoilers unless warned.
- Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
- This is a cliffhanger; the first of three involving these characters
- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- The author was not new to me.

BOOK:
- Cover adequately reflects the story
- Genre/troupe: contemporary romance
1st POV alternating

Star Ratings - 1 (poor) - 5 (READ THIS BOOK)
• Writing Quality: 5 stars
• Story ingredient: 5 stars
• Ease of reading/Pace: 5 stars
• Plot strength: 5 stars
• Steam Level: 4 stars

Notes/Opinion (personal):

We meet the Hero and Heroine through the heroine's brother in Tangled Games and Royal Games, which are from another series. That said, you do NOT need to read those books to enjoy this one.

Ms. Leigh has crafted a wonderful forbidden romance that’s tested bounds of love versus responsibility. Strong characters , romance and spice, and a surprising bit of mystery tossed in make this a wonderful start to a trilogy.

I'm writing this review for United Indie Book blog..

This book is so captivating! So captivating that you just get caught up in the story and then you just wait for the bad to happen.. I mean its a royal/forbidden romance. Esme is out living her life, enjoying every minute and then duty calls.. She's a Princess and has been called back home. She is betrothed to a man she knows nothing about and she's good with it..until a friend from the past makes his presence.. Creed is everything you want in a book boyfriend.. He's charming, respectful and a dirty talker. Him and Esme have some serious chemistry together! The sneaking around is HOT! He is so sweet and pushes her to be the woman she is destined to be. He wants her to fulfill her dreams and basically do what she wants to do rather then her family says to do. Family, duty and loyalty is very important in this book. It's all about doing the right thing even if it hurts the one person you love the most in life. Creed and Esme push the limit in this book and in turn, people could get hurt. This is such a great book from beginning to end!!!!

This is book one in The Broken Crown Trilogy and it is Esme and Creed’s story and what a great start and must read. When Esme who is a princess returns home she is told that she is too marry and this makes her angry but being a royal comes with it’s own problems, complications and duty but there is one thing that she can control herself and she knows exactly who she wants to complete the task if he will agree. Creed is soon to be a royal guard following in the family tradition and he is also best friends with Esme’s brother but there as always been something special between Esme and Creed but neither can act on it. When they spend exclusive and forbidden time together lines are crossed and sparks fly when ever they are near each other but it is also forbidden and dangerous if they are caught but some things can’t be denied. There are twists and turns along with danger, secrets, plots, intrigue, obligations, anger, hope and situations that have you turning the pages to see what would happen next and it had me hooked right from the first page until the last and I can’t wait to read the next book in this trilogy.
