This is a reverse harem, mafia/gang, mystery romance with plot twists/turns, steamy and smutty scenes, hot alpha-possessive-assholes, sweet love, and grungy content. Our FMC goes through it but she definitely has her come back. Her badassery comes through and she becomes a warrior with the support of her men behind her. This will be a four full-length book series with a Prequel Novella that starts the journey off!
What do you do when everywhere you turn, your world is filled with secrets and lies?
When it feels like everyone you care about is hiding something for you, waiting for their opportunity to stab you in the back and betray you?
No, seriously, I’m asking. Because that’s what my life feels like right now.
My roommate isn’t who I thought she was. She went behind my back and betrayed me, cutting deeply.
My best friend abandoned me when I needed him the most and he refuses to tell me where he’s been.
My boyfriend lied, cheated, and broke me in the worst way imaginable. He spilled his deep, dark secrets, thinking I would be taking them with me to an early grave.
He left me for dead.
Unfortunately for him, I didn’t only survive his brutal attack, but I remember every single word he said.
And the men who have bulldozed their way into my life. The ones who saved me, nursed me back to health, and have cared for me every step of the way.
Their deception somehow hurts the very worst.
Who am I supposed to trust now and what the hell am I supposed to do when I’ve got enemies coming at me from every direction?
The answer is simple.
Find the biggest monsters out there, and make them mine.
Maddox
I don’t care what she thinks she’s doing, but she’s not going anywhere.
Over my dead damn body.
She’s ours now.
She became ours when she walked into our business, our home, our lives.
The world of Los Diablos may be full of crime, murder, and mayhem, but it doesn’t scare us.
We are bigger and badder than even her biggest nightmares and if slaying her demons is what it takes to keep her, then we’ll do it.
My brothers and I are ready to fight for her, even if it means blowing up our own world in the process.
We will burn it all down for her, and evolve from the ashes.
This book has content unsuitable for those under 18 and has material that some readers may find uncomfortable.
Again a lot of repetition and inner dialogue. I do not feel the connection at all. I think it has everything to do with the writing. So much telling about everything. This could have been an amazing series but please stop telling me everyone’s feeling at every moment and then repeating entire scenes with everyone’s opinions. I DNFed this one. I noticed myself skimming just to get through the repetitive dialogue. Good luck. Needs an honest and professional editor. Best friends do not count.
Who and the hell edited this? Literally just writing that was a fight with autocorrect so how and the hell did Bex Dawn manage to botch that phrase dozens of times? This is so full of spelling and grammar errors to the point that it is a complete distraction from the story. It reads like a TTS text your dad sends while he's driving.
The story stalled out in this book. It's just pages and pages of very distracted internal musings interspersed with occasional dialogue.
The "not like other girls"-ing remains strong with the addition that Ella can actually do anything because she's a genius and a martial arts expert she just doesn't remember.
The first book was pretty good so I had high hopes for this one, however the MC is way to whiney and the F word is in every sentence that's just to much
This would be 5 stars if there wasn’t so much inner dialogue. Found myself skimming several times to get to some actual conversations and interactions. The first book was the same, and I’m sure the next one will be too. Also, I found it cool that there were links to songs on Spotify to go with certain scenes, but some just didn’t fit it. So I didn’t listen to all of the songs the whole way through. Some really impacted the whole scene, but some were definitely a miss. A couple I had to search for myself since the link didn’t work, but that was fine. All-in-all, this is a good reverse harem series, and I definitely want to continue the story, but not looking forward to so much inner dialogue again. Will definitely skim when needed, which I hate to do, but if I don’t do it with this series then I will never finish it.
I was still interested in the plot of book 2 of the series and I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. Once again, I was skimming over all the internal dialogue and sometimes I have to look back to see what the actual dialogue was to follow the conversation. The spicey scenes were not adding to the plot near the end and just seemed like the author was trying to add content to make the book longer.
We will burn it all down for her, and evolve from the ashes.
I swear, I'm in love with all these guys.
These men are the ride or die I truly want out of life, and you can't help but fall deeper with each passing moment.
Their fierceness to protect not only each other but her? Ugh kill me now.
Evolve truly stepped it up, and took me on a ride. I think I cried throughout this entire book, it gripped me from the beginning (the beginning, beginning) and never let me go.
SPOILERS BELOW
Just the way that Nyx would be there for Stone like that? Their dynamic is top tier.
THAT WATER GUN FIGHT? LEAVING THE GUYS SPEECHLESS. I love Ella even more.
And can I just say, Nyx, Maddox and Gage being so confused and jealous when all Ella wants is Stone when she's having a panic attack, and Stone knows it? YOU HAVE ME BY THE SOUL, BEX.
"Holy fucking shit. My brother has seriously fallen for her. He's talking about his heart and feelings and shit. Fuck.
"My heart is screaming that it already knows the answer. Do I want them? Yes. Do I want to give myself to them? That's more difficult. That is where the problem lies."
" 'If I'd take a bullet for you, why wouldn't I also let you slap my ass with a leather whip?' "
" 'Ice cream fixes everything, Isabella. Life is like ice cream."
Ella doesn't know how to cope with what happened to her. She was attacked viciously by her ex-boyfriend and saved by the men she was starting to get to know better. Always the meek little mouse she withdraws even more into herself until she is practically afraid of her own shadow. But the men in her life refuse to let her curl up and die. They coax her out of her shell and show her what it means to stand on one's own two feet. But the problem lies in the fact that now that they have Ella seeing herself as a fighter and not a victim, will she go too far and put herself in unnecessary danger? Have they built her up so much with affection and confidence that she plans to leave them behind? Or does she just want a dose of independence?
Maddox, Gage, Stone, and Nyx each have their own baggage to deal with along with Ella's. Maddox flies into rages after being betrayed by his ex-girlfriend. Gage has a tight grip on his control after tragedy struck the last time he was in the boxing ring. Stone has an eversion to touch and has a darker taste when it comes to sex. And Nyx blames himself for Ella's hardships because he should have done more for her when he met her on that bridge so long ago. He pushes her away hard to try to save her from getting hurt by him again. These wounded men are also the most powerful men in the city. They are the heads of the Los Diablos Syndicate underneath Gage and Maddox's father. And they will stop at nothing to keep Ella safe even if that means putting them directly in the line of fire of their father.
I liked watching Ella kind of come into her own. She went from weakling to warrior in no time. She fought tooth and nail to recover from her trauma and it really didn't seem to cause her much strife which made me feel for her all the more when her past started to come out. No wonder she was so skittish! I think she was a very thoroughly developed character and the author really did a good job of making her psychologically go through the rollercoaster of healing from her situation.
I love Maddox, Gage, and Stone, but that Nyx is getting on my last damned nerve! Why is he so cruel to her? I just don't understand why he wants to hurt her so bad. He even agreed to the fact that she should stay with them but then is constantly trying to push her away. The scene with the girl he brought home? Like, what did he want to happen? Her to run out of the building in fury and never return? He knew she was in dangerous and that she had to stay put so why in the hell would he torture her like that? I just don't understand that man and it is infuriating. I hope Ella, at some point, misses in her training and kicks him in the no-no square.
This book was good. It was more enticing then the last few but it is very heavy sometimes. But damn if the brothers in this book aren't the hottest things on this fictitious planet. Brava, Ella. Good catches.
I didn't like this one as much as the first one but it was equally as addictive as the first one. I don't know how the author does it. Because looking back there wasn't a ton going on, but I still was always so anxious to find out what was going to happen next!
I guess we'll go person by person: Isabella: She is still a little bit no personality. Though I will say she's finally starting to get some fight back in her. I really hate how she basically just choose one day to not let her trauma affect her. I wish she would've gotten some therapy or something more but it is what it is. I really like her relationship with all the guys! Freaking Stone is my favorite.
Gage: He's big and supposedly grumpy though besides having RBF he isn't that grumpy. I really appreciate how much he loves his brother and protects him. I will say the scene where he choose his brother over the poor girl getting, raped, eeek. I mean I get it but ouch. I wish we saw/understood more of their gang dynamic. Like Maddox is literally attacked by their own people and no one ever brings it up again. That's wild.
Maddox: Is actually adorable. He honestly surprised me. He was the one with all the demons and the dark passenger, but he was also the one ready to jump into a relationship. He really has the worst of the worst. Again, with the whole watching your Dad rape someone, just seems bad. Also none of the boys ever really have a reaction to all the fucked up shit they go through. At least not in front of Ella. We get these really traumatizing scenes for the guys and then they just move on and never talk about it again. I know Ella has her own trauma but I really hope we see her being their for the men in the next couple of books.
Nyxson - This dude. His reasoning makes no sense anymore. He wanted to push Ella away to keep her safe, but she's now all in with the other guys. It's too late to keep her from this life. So what is the purpose anymore of continually being a dick to her? I thought he was going to have a break through when he spoke with Stone about it but he kept up the same stupid behavior. She should never forgive him for sending her to her home without him. She outright says she doesn't feel comfortable going with his men to the house and he acts like she's a big baby and shames her. Like fuck you dude.
Stone: This my favorite guy. Though I hate that he knows Ella from her childhood and is keeping the secret from her. That's fucked up dude. But I love his calm dominate personality. He is heart stopping.
I'm glad Ella killed that fucking psycho abuser who's name I can't even remember. I wonder if she's going to freak out about the guys keeping her childhood secret from her. I also kinda hate that she has these locked away memories where she apparently was really good at physical fighting. I'm interested to see what her big mysterious past is.
I enjoyed the book for the most part. But to much stuff bothers me too. Like not even seeing Benny or hearing about him. He was suppose to be out of the hospital. How can her parents not want her to cone see them when it's been weeks. And don't get me started on the bestfriend. He is in love with her and the writer is pushing him aside when he could be part of the Harem no matter what the other guys think. She says that he is just a friend but I think she loves him too. Atleast I want them too. They were thick as thieves and the writers is forgetting that .I think and it hurts my heart. They are all they had of each other. Broken and not able to express their love or Maybe afraid they think they would lose their friendship. But he is good for her as much as the others. I dont care for the over sex parts with Maddox. Ik she wanted to take it slow but she didn't. She didn't even act like she was brutley attacked. She was up and around the next day like nothing for christ sake she had broken ribs. Her arm was split open like a fish and she was asulted. No matter what that isn't realistic and turned me off a bit. Maddox is a grown man but extremely childish around her it's rediculous. Yea he is a monster so to speak when need be but his actions just don't match. He just seems like overtly sexed all the time. I'm sorry but Nyxon was right. They are feared guys but seem to forget everything they are doing. The pick a girl over their own brother when they said they never would. She may say she doesn't want that to happen but doesn't do anything about it. They only thing that ever enters her head is sex with the guys. Nothing more. She let's them tell her what to do when she should just be like no. I am doing it my way. But she let's dick control her and her thoughts. She has even fought with her bff over guys she doesn't really know. And she can't even tell her the truth. And now she is starting to keep things away from her bff when they have always been an open book. Honestly I don't know if I want to keep reading. Her bff was right they are dangerous and their own guys turned on them. I wish the writer would allow her bff to be part of the Harem. I would definelty keep reading but idk. Ik it seems like alot of neg. It isn't either. The book was big and those are only some things. Most of it was good. I would of gave it a 5 stars of Hunter was part of it and she didn't care what the guys said. The other guys think he is gay but he isn't he is Bi which means he likes both and he is in love with her. He knows the most about her too. Ugh I might have to write my own ending lol. Naw just kidding. Enjoy this book. I did for the most part.
Maybe we’re all just fucked up and broken individuals who need one another to piece together our fractured parts and hold us together. Maybe we are each other’s glue.
Every one of Bex's books take up residence in my heart. Evolve is no exception and may be one of my favorites. This book is NOT a stand alone and contains MANY triggers. Please make yourself aware of all triggers and practice safe reading!
That being said: There is always a perfect balance of heartbreak, laughter, spice and swoon-worthy moments in Bex's books. I enjoy getting to know all our characters and spending what I like to think of as "quality time" in each of their POVs. During EVOLVE we get to spend time with our FMC Ella (Isabella) and our four MMCs Los Diablos: Gage, Maddox, Stone and Nyxon.
Gage - Naturally Gage takes on a lot of responsibility as second in command for Los Diablos and we get to see him being very serious most of the time. It was so nice to see his softer side start to peak through! You can truly see that every action he takes is focused on what will be best for his brothers + now Ella. Maddox - This man can do no wrong in my eyes. Madd is flirty, funny, spicy and extremely protective of Ella. His back story intrigues me and I want to know everything about him. Madd makes me feel equally loved + comfy + protected. Stone - I loved getting to see more of Stone in this book (truth be told he is now competing with Maddox for my favorite Diablo) and how he helps Ella with her anxiety/trauma in such a practical + logical way. Nyx - baby I love you but WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! I want to hug him equally as much as I would enjoy stabbing him. To sum up how I feel perfectly I will quote Ella "Even when I hate Nyx, I still want the big ogre."
Every single one of my babies in this book, Ella included, have been through trauma and are truly "broken" in some way. The wonderful thing about this is that you can see what each person brings to the table to help heal others in the group.
Ella fits perfectly into the dynamic the 4 Diablos have and she in turn has become a stronger individual by allowing the Diablos to help her unlock her confidence!. I can already see so much growth in Ella and I am SO proud of her.
I have a ridiculous amount of highlights in EVOLVE (to be fair that's because Bex is equally hilarious and heartbreaking) but here are some of my favorites...
He smiles down at her like she's his fucking world, and I get it. I really fuckin do because I'm pretty sure she's mine too. I swear to everything that is holy, if any more shit is piled on me, I am going to wind up back in the loony bin again. But what happens if you let them in? You show them your deep, dark secrets, and they love you anyway? She’s like a fucking Xanax to my central nervous system. She’s a drug, and if I’m not careful, I’m liable to become addicted.
I got Evolve as an ARC (advanced reader copy) and once again i'm dying for more! Evolve is #2 in what is slotted to be a 4 book series; the Los Diablos Syndicate. You NEED to read the prequel Crash and the first book Burn in order to understand what is happening as this is a very well written and extremely detailed reverse harem series.
Bex Dawn is new, hot and beyond talented! She clearly has a plan with these books and it's amazing to see the characters stories and lives tie together and come to life. She also has another series coming out simultaneously called Violet Craves and the Trichotomy of New York that loosely crosses over. While I was reading Evolve I felt like I was in the story and friends with the characters because it is so lifelike. Once again, i'm blown away and cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment.
Evolve picks up right after Burn where we find Ella being taken in by 4 sexy, sinful and dangerous mafia-type men; Maddox, Stone, Gage and Nyxon after a brutal and horrific sexual assault by her ex. Be forewarned that there are HEAVY trigger warnings in the book for a reason. The Los Diablos try to protect Ella from the demons of her past that haunt her and are currently hunting her, including her ex, also known as the govenors son. All 5 of them together in this story begin to heal from past traumas by exploring new love and sexuality together. Ella is immediately claimed and falls for the two brothers of the group; Maddox and Gage Luna who openly discuss a poly-relationship with her. It is not until later in the book that relationships with Stone and Nyxon also developed.
Nothing about this series feels forced and it was extremely enjoyable to read their relationships developing over time while also exploring dark kinky sex, trauma and mental health struggles. We are left with a massive cliff hanger at the end of this book when Ella is taken. Can the guys get to her in time? Seriously, this book (along with the prequel Crash and the first book Burn) will you hook you from the very beginning. It is pure raw emotion and who can resist 4 sexy men looking after their woman? Sign me up!
"She likes it rough, Madd. Don't hold back on our girl."
Please read the trigger warnings (i.e. non-con) before entering into this amazing and page turning story. This is an extremely dark and twisted erotic romance that may not suit everyone's taste....me....give me more!
I usually love when playlists are included in books, and I truly loved that because even had the consideration to put it in the exact spot she wanted us to play it at the exact moment vs a general playlist others do like for “Marrow” (playlist slaps tho). However, the songs suggested at times took me all the way out of the moment. Just pretend like bad omens was placed twice and while I love the song it felt misplaced. There were early 00s songs that aged the book rather than keeping it in the modern timeline I thought it was in originally. Other songs like “stripped” by shiny toy guns she placed was truly tragic. The version by Depeche Mode is so much moodier and fits the darkness of the men and their world and her wounds vs the shiny toy guns sound like they’re off tempo and I couldn’t even play it before switching it to Depeche Mode’s version. Honestly look up the Marrow book playlist and play it while reading this book and it fits the vibe soooo much better and immerses you into their dark brooding world while adding the tumultuous love story. I still give it four stars but had the songs been better and had the 10+ grammar errors and story line errors (gage lubed his pinkie finger for her..ahem.. but then two sentences later “ripped his thumb out”.. so which finger did he use bc I am lost.) also the over use of “what and the fuck” and “what and the hell” was funny the first two times but it’s said over fifteen times. Variation would help because the likelihood of all five characters having the exact same vernacular without extensive time together yet is fractional at best and again took me out of it being them and reminded me it was one author writing all of them instead. I DID love all the unique other vocabulary such as the clitterflies for when she flutters post orgasm when Maddox says something hot she loves. First time hearing/reading that and I am an avid bibliophile so that’s quite the feat! Overall, hire another editor and fix the grammatical mistakes and change up wording, play the marrow playlist, and enjoy the dark ride this book takes you on bc it’s still amazing and still gave me actual palpitations reading it until I literally passed out. Excited to continue!
This book left me on the edge of my seat during the whole thing! And that cliffhanger....Book 3, where are you?!?!?!
Evolve is book 2 in the Los Diablos Syndicate series. This series just keeps getting better and better! Definitely shed a few tears throughout this book. Its raw, emotional, suspensful, with lots of spice and laughter. This book took my emotions on a roller coaster ride.
I absolutely love that we get to see what each of the MMCs are going through and battling. The men are strong, dangerous, and oh so hot 🥵 & Ella is so incredibly strong and I love seeing her face everything she's gone through and using the strength each of her men give her to make herself more confident and strong!
I can't wait to see where this story goes. This book was hard to put down! I just wanted to keep reading to see what was happening and what will happen. And that cliffhanger....oh man book 3 can't come soon enough. It left me on the edge of my seat wanting more and crying 😭
THE MUSIC was phenomenal. Bex not only gave us the playlist at the beginning but marked songs throughout for certain scenes. It was amazing!!! I absolutely loved it. Highly recommend you play the songs that are linked throughout while reading!!!!
I can't wait for more of Ella and her men. Be prepared to cry, laugh and be extremely turned on with Ella and her men 😭🥵🌶🔥
Bex, you can't end it there 😭😭 I'm so OBSESSED with Ella, Maddox, Gage, Stone and Nyx!!!
Evolve is book #2 in the Los Diablos Syndicate series. It's a dark reverse harem. Make sure to check triggers!!!
This series is one of my favorite reverse harem series EVER!! Bex Dawn has created this world you can't get enough of, characters you will adore, and a storyline that will have you hooked!!
Evolve will have your emotions all over the place. I laughed, I cried, I got angry, then laughed and cried some more.
Ella has been thru so much and is still so strong. She has grown so much and I can't wait to see how much stronger she becomes.
I love Maddox and we get to see a vulnerable side to him in this book. Gage could boss me around any day and Stone is freaking dreamy. I can't wait for Nyx to pull his head outta his butt.
I absolutely loved that Bex added music to certain scenes. It makes the scenes you are reading so much more.
The cliffhanger has me wanting to cry!! I can't wait for the next book and more of Ella and her guys!!
The Los Diablos Syndicate series is dark, spicy, amazing perfection! You need to read these books if you haven't yet!
Why Choose // MF + MFM // Dual POV // Alphahole // Dark Romance // Mafia/Gang Romance //Touch her you die
Evolve is book two in the Los Diablos Syndicate and continues on from book one.
As always, please check your triggers before diving in.
I am hooked on this series and love everything about it. The storyline, the character development, the banter, and the smut-I love it all . I genuinely love each of the guys so much. They all have a story to tell and will kill anyone who tries to touch their girl.
Ella’s character development is my favourite though. She is turning into a strong and fierce FMC, and I am here for it! That being said, I need answers right now after that brutal cliffhanger. There are so many possibilities, and I cannot wait to see where Bex takes us in Resurrect.
-TRIGGER WARNINGS - Suicide talk/thoughts // Therapy // Depression // Anxiety //Gang violence // Drugs/weapons // Sexual trauma and abuse // Human trafficking // Graphic language // Racial and sexual slurs // Physical and mental abuse // Gaslighting // Kidnapping // Sexual kinks // Child abuse/sexual abuse past reference // Death/murder // Rape // Abortion/miscarriage talk // Drug/alcohol abuse
And it’s only book 2/4 and I already want to finish.
I love the characters I do. But…the writing at times feels atrocious. The detailed description of their trauma plus the constant inner monologues are driving me crazy. At least 50% of the book is just inner monologues. And how can I root for the characters when they barely talk to one another?
I also hate that the author introduces something quickly then quickly doesn’t mention it ever again. Aka Benny.
I understand having so much world building and history building in the first book or two. But there is barely any progress with the FMC and her reverse Harem. Gage and Maddox instantly fall in love with her. Nyx is purposely a jerk to purposely make her turn off. And stone apparently knows her from her past but doesn’t say anything about it?
Oh! Don’t forget Hunter who might be in the harem but also kind of not?
I am going to keep reading but I am not feeling optimistic as I usually am in a series.
Evolve picks up right where Burn ends. After a very violent event (trigger warning⚠️) with Ella, she is faced with an important choice, namely to believe her best friend with the horrible things he says about the men she is in love with. (yes even asshole Nyx) Or the choice to ignore everything.. She knows they are dangerous. But doesn't that make it so exciting. She know they hurt people, but they care for her right!? Why else would they save her after that horrible night? After everyone betrayed her, hurt her and let her down, how can she trust these monsters, no matter how cruel and dangerous they are, she has also seen a different side of her men. How can she make a choice without disappointing everyone. Even with everything going on now, she still has to worry about her enemies coming from left and right.
If you love RH, alpha possessive ASSHOLES, hot and dirty scenes that will give you all the good, wet feelings💦 Well then this series is perfect for you!
Book 2 was ,grammatically, much better, however, there are still errors and words that should have been other words. I do feel that not much happened plot waist other than character building/relationship building and setting up plot for future books. I am very very happy that Gage seems to have his moment with Ella, as I was starting to feel like it was a romance between Madd and Ella while Gage was just getting ignored.
The thing that makes this a 5 ⭐️ for me is the mental health care and positive mental health representation in this book/series. I love that it’s not toxic (with the exception of Nyxon) and the boys stand up and defend Ella feirsely.
The ending was predictable and it makes me so so so sad for Nyxon and this will just add to his trauma but I am sure that is what is needed for him and Ella to be together and get over their issues. Growing together through trauma and all that.
All in all, I am looking forward to the rest of this series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I like the thought behind the plot like I did with the first book but this fmc is just TSTL like when I read books like this one I want a strong heroine who grows through out the story but this character is stagnat and I find myself hating and skipping a pretty good amount of her chapters. I like the guys but she is more bipolar than I am and makes my bipolar kick in cuz I'll start to like her like a tiny bit then all of a sudden she's acting stupid and i hate her again. Idk it's just annoying cuz I wanna know what happens so I'll probably continue to the next book... Also the author really really needs to learn to edit her stories or get someone to read them after and edit them because the grammar, the typos, and the sentence structuring are horrific I gave up reporting them because it was on like every single page.
Could’ve been a 3, maybe even 4, but I am frustrated.
I really didn’t like the songs randomly written between paragraphs. It interrupted the flow of the story and being in it.
I’m soooo tired of the “what and the fuck” “what and the hell” “what and the” statements I could go the rest of my life without reading those words written in that way.
The story dragged so bad. The inner thoughts were long and the info dump was long. I ended up skimming some anytime they got in their heads during a conversation.
Unfortunately I will be continuing the story just to get all the answers. I’m begging the next book to be better and to get more of the story and see it all play out.
Also, annoyed that Hunter is basically on the back burner the whole book when he’s supposed to be the best friend.
Some of the story is predictable, but I’m DYING to see it all play out.
These guys are really something else ;) in the best way possible!
I swear Bex is really keeping us on our toes with Evolve. It's emotional, steamy, some laughs and freaking suspenseful. It's such an amazing continuation of Burn, you are automatically drawn right back into the story.
The best part of these stories is that we see what the guys are going through. Ella is also an amazing FMC that really matches these guys with how strong she is. She has gone through so much in her life but she really utilizes that and her guys strengths to push her forward. It's also amazing to see how much she grows in each book too.
I was not prepared for that cliff-hanger ma'am! I'm anxiously waiting book 3!
I'm really enjoying this series. There are a lot of twists, and turns you wonder who people are, and I love that. However, this book is so wordy! I find myself skimming a lot. Especially when one of the main characters is about to do something and then they start thinking about something that happened yesterday or a few days ago and by the time that thought is complete you completely forget what they were about to do and it throws me off. Plus, the situation with Nyx is getting kind of old. I'm definitely going to continue on with this series. I'm definitely intrigued by how everything is going to come together, and I truly hope Hunter joins the group I like him.
Bex Dawn had me hooked, line and sink from the very first page. The is darkness, violence, secrets kept (HUGE secrets) hate to love, angst, steam, schemes and lots of laughs. I loved everything about this book and was hoping it wouldn’t end. There are so many wonderful things that happen in this book. I love how The author can so easily address extremely heavy subjects (rape, insecurities, incest, suicide) into the story and still have me on the edge of my seat fanning myself because it is also spicy AF. So please read this book. I promise you that you will be hooked and this is story is the mother of all books and is the one you have been waiting for.
Likes: The prequel and the pacing of the relationship with two of the guys. Thr third guy I'm slowly liking but the pacing seems a little dependent.
Dislikes: The fourth guy because he's a bona-fide j*rk (have to be careful or my review won't publish). Also, how many times can you s*it on the MFC in the present time? Give her a freaking break!
Major dislike (and spolier): Reading about one of main characters having an intimate moment after meeting the MFC to push her away, and in front of her!!! No excuses. I almost quit reading.
Will I read book three? I'm debating. I loved the prequel. Book 1 grew on me. Book 2 was disappointing.
I am wrecked with the ending in this book! I have been so busy that it has taken me a bit to get through this book but just like with the others in this series I am hooked and ready for more! Maddox and Gage are mouth watering, Stone is captivating and then there is Nyxon whom I am completely enamored with and want to strangle for his treatment of Ella. Ella is becoming the badass that I knew was inside her. The hardships that each of them have suffered will make them a strong, unstoppable force once they all come together! I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store!
I enjoyed the storyline, the characters, and even the banter back and forth. Even the internal dialogue isn't annoying but insightful.
I couldn't give this a 5 star rating due to the same editing issues I kept seeing from the previous books. i.e. "you're" instead of "your", " we're " instead of "were". It was consistent throughout every page and chapter. Typically, if the storyline was not captivating, I would have just given up already.
I am interested to read where the author takes this story with how she ended the book, in the next installment.
I wanted to love this so much but in the end I was just trying to get through it. So many grammatical errors it was distracting. The end though, is what made me decide not to continue this series. I truly hate when characters make incredibly stupid decisions. This one was just so out of character, just to drive the plot.
Like the previous books the internal dialogue is so long, so repetitive, I was mostly skimming through those scenes. Like seriously, this book would have been cut in half if we didn’t need to hear over and over how screwed up they all are and how perfect they find each other.
For real this series might end me. Book 2 we drive more into their relationships and I'm so happy that the one thing I thought was building in book 1 came true here. I don't want to give away spoilers but it was beautifully written. We see our girl come into her own a little but also still work on her trauma. That cliffhanger I knew it was coming but dang it! Does it mean that their guys aren't their guys?! I loved how Stone gets more POV scenes and the water gun fight was a great scene. Can't wait to see how this story continues.
