Dog Training and Behaviour Solutions: The stress-free way to live in harmony with your dog

Rate this book
A collection of articles, based on modern science, using force free and fear free methods
Solutions to common issues from pre-puppy to adulthood Review - This is a book that all prospective dog owners, all current dog owners, everyone who has owned dogs all their lives, every professional trainer, should read. One of the best things that has happened to dogs today. - Jackie Drakeford, widely-respected author of many dog care titles including 'Essential Care for A Holistic Way of Life' and 'The House Lurcher' Review by Lottie Bennett, Lottie’s School for Dogs - “Dog Training and Behaviour Solutions” is not your average dog training book. Indeed, it is a collaboration piece between multiple force-free and fear-free professionals and if two heads are better than one, then twelve must be even better than that! The book is a compilation of articles written by these professionals on various aspects of puppy and dog ownership, care, training, and managing and treating behavior problems. As such, you do not need to read the book cover to cover, but the articles are compiled in such a way that it will take you through in a sensible order if that’s what you wish to do. Alternatively, you can skip to whichever issue you wish to look up and read articles about it. If previous knowledge of a preceding article is required, it is usually mentioned in the article you’re reading. A Collaboration of Force-Free Professionals
It is good to see some articles referring back to others written by a different author, proving that this is indeed a collaboration between like-minded professionals and the advice isn’t coming from a singular source. All of the writers do well at maintaining an overall ‘tone’ but of course, they write as individuals so you do get different voices. You may find you prefer some to others. Despite a generally professional voice, the tone is friendly, and at (appropriate) times, humorous. From a grammar perspective, it is well written, so easy to read. Something for Everyone
Some of the articles are brief and provide a quick and easy read; others are more lengthy, but the formatting and editing breaks them up well with subheadings making the text much easier to take in. The advice is well presented without complex jargon and easy for anyone to take in, from people brand new to dog training to seasoned professionals looking for another way of presenting their information or an alternative method. Easy to understand anecdotes and comparisons help people to understand their dogs’ perceptions of situations.

The book “ Dog Training and Behaviour Solutions” is brought to you by the professional team behind the Facebook group Dog Training Advice and Support (DTAS).

Dog Training and Behaviour Solutions is a collection of articles using force free and fear free methods. As we prepare to bring a puppy home in March, I’m doing my homework. This is a book that is great for anyone who has or will have a dog. I think there were some really valuable lessons to help us with Gus as well. It is a collaboration piece between multiple force-free and fear-free professionals who found one another on Facebook, and put all their advice together in this book. It covers various aspects of puppy and dog ownership, care, training, and managing and treating behavior problems. Though you do not need to read the book cover to cover, I did. However, I have marked it all up and I intend to reference it quite a bit in the coming months. Despite a generally professional voice, the tone is friendly, and at appropriate times, humorous. Some of the articles are brief and provide a quick and easy read; others are more lengthy, but the formatting and editing breaks them up well with subheadings making the text much easier to take in. If you’re interested in their Facebook group, search for Dog Training Advice and Support (DTAS). This one gets four doggos, of course: 🐕🦮🐩🐕‍🦺

full of helpful tips, great advice and force free related info.

I read this book because I recently became a member of the Facebook group. I have a terrier and he has developed some issues, I’ve been looking for information to help me understand him better and to assist me in helping him. I’ve read many books relating to behaviour and training, in the hopes that I can educate myself as much as possible on positive reinforcement training and find ways to help my dog cope in situations. This book has been insightful and has offered some new ideas for some things, such as enrichment activities and information on some of the issues that my dog seems to present with.

Fantastic book. Must read for any dog owner or in preparation for getting a dog. I have this as an audiobook and will purchase a physical copy for future reference. It increased my understanding and tools for helping our dogs in building confidence and managing behavior challenges. You won’t regret having this as one of your primary training resources.

Bonus: there is a Facebook Group that is run by the many authors/trainers who wrote this book. It is a place to get training support beyond what the book offers.

Excellent book

This is an excellent book. Easy to read. Love the private Facebook group too, it's almost as if a followup consultation if you will, though the book is very comprehensive.
